Here are the 2020 Emmy Awards highlights
"So much nowadays traditional Glam, gathering of the EMMYS was shrunk down to a virtual version. This year, the winners had to dial in from their sofas but did to scale down show remove any of the fun while I'm joined by the phone critic Karen Cranach from welcome back Karen. Now, Jimmy Kimmel called this the pandemic. What was it like? You. Don't I was reading about the run up because of course, they had five days of the creative emmys, which was very interesting which covered documentarian sports things like that. We don't really get to see those its role waiting for the television ones television on comedy and they're all saying, oh, it's can be terrible to glitches and there were absolutely no. Glitches at all the writing was sensitive national it probably would have worked alive, and in fact, what they were doing is they were cutting back into the audience of previous years. So at first we thought Kimmel was presented to reluctance of couldn't be, and then of course, we see that it's an empty staple center with cardboard cutouts except one person Jason Bateman. It worked really really well, and as you said, he called the Pan Denny's. You can't have virus without a host modest M.. It. Last year it was host free. So he's making a double point there isn't he? Will he is I mean there is a discussion for all the wards shows that you know do we really need a host to carry through to give a a link King presents between all of the awards and sometimes you need that sometimes you don't, but he's very, very good in this effect was. Nominated himself didn't win but for for this year. So he solid reacted really well, and particularly with Jennifer Aniston was was there in I'm assuming was a prerecorded, extra it live. Where he's burning one of the emmy envelopes to sanitize it, and if the fire gets out of control, she actually does put put. The. Fire. Out on stage. Tell US little bit more than about. Who won who lost how things went? Arguably, this was possibly our final reminder. Some was that it was a blissful reminder of our recent past, but people could still make television in the same room. I think we're we're all I. Think we're we're going to get nostalgic about these virtual awards shows really because they could do so much more with with a with a regular live show somebody sends in a prerecorded or televisual link you feel cheated. Now you feel that you've got more possibility because the people can actually record something or talk to you live. So it Kinda works really well, for example, before I go to the awards there was almost apprentice reunion lease a Jennifer Aniston Courtney Cox and Lisa kudrow showed up altogether and Jimmy Kimmel's going what are you doing together and he goes she goes well, we've Jennifer says. We've been living together since nineteen ninety four. It was just a lovely surprised wouldn't have been able to happen in real life. So it was great now. watchmen with the big re reimagined science fiction. Series was for twenty six nominations at one eleven including UN series. Star. Regina. King and also best limited series which is amazing and that helped push the HBO show to Thirty Wins in total, which is very important and also Shits Creek, of course, we have to put little tm on there because it's spelled S. C. H. W. T. s. did a sweep a to record for comedy shows of nine wins and it was yeah it's it's incredible. It's last is the final. Season for that show and it was wonderful to see all of our beloved. Canadian actors. That was a hugely hugely popular series it turned up on flicks. But it didn't start with nets, which is weird. Yes it has found that second life. Elsa Bell Rutland. Well, it was really pop TV and it just it got a cult following because. I mean, these I've been watching Catherine O'Hara Levy since the seventies I mean they were at second city which the rivals Saturday night live we've seen them in American pie everywhere. These are very, very good season actors and writers and the fact that they show up with this unique show on pop TV it just goes to show you that if something's good against audience people will see

"staples center" Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix
"And there was always just like. Kawhi make shots for George make shots in that just didn't happen. For sure and I saw firsthand how many times during the regular season the clippers put a game away because in the second quarter I said, I'm just going to score twelve straight points or in the fourth quarter he said I'm GonNa Score Ten straight points and shut down your best player that just couldn't happen in the series of Denver too many offensive operations in its own great offense appearing. In Yokich Murray that it's not as simple as Kawhi being able to take over by himself as far as Paul George Goes. I. Mean before he hurt his shoulder lassie's in Oklahoma City he was in the MVP conversation it is very best. That's the kind of player. He is a two way for someone who can average almost thirty points. A game is playoff resume is starting to get more and more dispiriting the further you go. Again he someone who openly talked about how much he struggled with his mental health in the bubble. Unfortunately, his job was to perform I. DON'T WANNA get on him too much for that but. It was obviously a struggle for him. There were times. He just didn't look confident in that fourth quarter I think what the clippers collapse or defeat or whatever you WANNA call it showed is. And I don't know that the Lakers necessarily have either but just have Lebron James who's kind of seen everything in the NBA There's something teams that have been tested the other teams that have battled together the nuggets, Celtics, and heat. For example, all have guys who've. been through some things together I mean obviously, he'd have a lot of new guys and Jay crowder Andrea Dala. In Jimmy Butler, but they were tested during the regular season, they have other players, Bam and Goran. Who've kind of been there for years institutional knowledge that helps them in these situations. And I just think that the clippers were lacking that in large part because. They never seem to take the regular season that seriously now part of that is because Kawai just might not be healthy to play eighty two games again in his career but it just never felt like they they gave themselves an opportunity to be challenged in. That's important for teams to go through. You're definitely right about like the the the struggles that he had and I think that you know it was it was good that he was openly talking about that because I thought that that was like another undercurrent of being in the bubble dead nobody was really getting at But yeah, like I don't know it's just it's an interesting thing. When you look at some of these teams that sort of Seem to rely on like how they performed in the regular season as just like a prediction of how they would perform in the playoffs without sort of that. Extra understanding of what actually happens in the playoffs and like I think a similar. Thing went on with the honest and the bucks in a way where it was like. It didn't seem to me that there was a definitive answer to like what happens when..

"Inglewood's City council, giving final approval approval now to plans for a new L. A Clippers basketball arena across the road from the new so Fi stadium. It will cost $1.8 billion to build the arena for the Clippers. Inglewood Mayor James Butts, telling the city Council. The two projects really put his city on the map. We have something miraculous happened here. It's only happened. And three mega cities New York San Francisco Los Angeles. We've attracted three professional sports teams, but we did it within a 2.5 year period. What took them a generation to do you a lot going on in England, with the new Clippers Arena scheduled to open in time for the start of the NBA's 2020 for 2025 season, when the Clippers will make the move from Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles,
Los Angeles mayor says city will never fully be open until there's coronavirus cure
"Mayor Garcetti said today on Good Morning America that he will not open the city of Los Angeles until there's a cure for the Chinese corona virus then they're never going to open up so Hey I guess LA as we know it is closed forever is this not insanity let's not pretend that Los Angeles isn't a huge tourist Mecca either Santa Monica pier Universal Studios okay you've got well Anaheim pretty much in the OC but but you get my point there did you know southern California LA major tourist staples center who are the you know the Lakers play I mean there are generally hills there is a huge entertainment Mecca there too and a huge tourist Mecca and he just basically said until there's a cure he is a vaccine until there's a sure the city's not opening up my god my
Oprah and Alicia Keys: The Interview
"Hey Alicia keys. My sister my sister sister. I am like your sister but also old enough to be your mother so sister I was talking to a reporter yesterday and I was. I was talking about you and I said I feel like Maya. I feel that I am in many ways like you as Maya was to me because I have such admiration and respect for you and Just deep love for you and feeling that allows me to know how am I actually felt about me so I feel that way about U. S? How Start Right there? The healthy start but also said I am your mother sister friend. I feel like your mother sister friend. Yeah me too. That thing it's there's a beautiful embodiment of so many type of relationships that I think that we have and it's fair. You normally have those type of relationships with many people I find I don't so I really appreciate those different levels. Yeah yeah connection. Yea I've only felt that with one another with you able do rene who I feel like. Wow this mother's sister connection and it's so interesting because all the years that I had Maya as a mentor. Friend MOTHER SISTER FRIEND I. I couldn't really grasp it. You know I couldn't really grasp it so I get to grasp it through people like yourself and people like Abe so as an aching good to see you good to see good either that there'd be singing. I'm glad to be together with you. And in this moment I think have happy Sunday. Happy Sunday. Happy Super Soul Sunday at so. So how's your family doing? How are you all doing all clustered family as did you know? We're we're good. We're healthy and and we're feeling well. My youngest genesis is a homebody anyway. So it's only so much to get him out the house anyways he couldn't be happier and the older the older ones are definitely you know missing their friends and and asking what's coming on. How are they going to be going on? But I think that we're doing some good things that I like to try to have. Some type of routine has happened after them to look forward to it. But we're doing well and we are. We're keeping spirits high. What are you all doing? Are you playing games? And how many kids are in the house? I know Genesis and and and and Dr there but are the other big kids there to Denison Egypt Genesis Egypt Air in the house. So that's thirteen nine and I'm five. Wow Are you playing games? Are you getting out for little walks? What are you doing? I'm doing good walks and bike rides and come scooter. Rides and stuff like that in our in behind them and and we're doing monopoly omens the endless games of endless nights with monopoly. I'm getting beat real bad. I don't know why I can't seem to win. Monopoly is making me a little frustrated. But we're getting there. We're doing books reading every day. You know that for a certain amount of time working out doing sit ups. Even Genesis is trying to get a six pack pop in. Do you feel more connected or getting a little. Stir crazy me what. I'm what I'm finding that I don't feel like I have any time personally. I know that sounds so weird because we're all talking about how not doing as much as how we normally do in that kind of thing but I'm finding that obviously with the kids home and then with us all together. I don't have the space that maybe I was able to carve out of the space. That's a little bit. You know what of nowhere to show? I think this is especially hard on mothers. Moms shoutout to all the MOMS out there. Because I've said my whole career that it's the toughest and most important of all the jobs on the planet and now MOMS have to be. The teacher had to be the principal. The Cafeteria Lady there the gym teacher and school nurse all at the same time. I heard that Egypt said you were mean teachers at your box. You being mean to being means you. You have to do this particular thing you gotta do eat. So let's do it but you know that that balance between being strong enough to make sure that this thing on track and staying connected to what they needed to do. Because it's hard to self start to actually have to sell start yourself a complete a project without social element. It's really really hard so he did. I think he was just a little frustrated. I'm how but I mean yeah and you know so so well I believe a crisis comes to teach us something and this is a crisis for sure on every level your husband posted on instagram. That this is the best time to get your mind your body and your soul strong tune into to yourself and pull out the best ever. That's what I think Swiss posted. What is what. What have you learned about yourselves and each other during this time? I think we are seeing that. Were very good together. We do have a good flow together which I think could become quite difficult neck. You and you're kind of always together always in close quarters. Sometimes you can maybe all the things that you haven't quite worked through amount. I find that we're we're actually quite good together. We have a balance. There's something about the age of the kids that's added simply because at a certain time that was tricky to you. Know with an age difference sometimes is creates just right on so that's one thing. I'm happy for that. We have a good connection there I think that we're definitely feeling a lot. I think the gratitude for the little things from you and I was just saying you know. The planet needs a little break too and needs to regenerate and rejuvenate needs us. All the kind of you know do that as well. So we've been saying and I love this but that you you been saying this that encouraging people to keep their frequency high us. Yes he say hi. Yes because I think it's it's very disconcerting. Obviously it's it's troubling. It's scary. I'm sure about of US. Know people who are sick or ill or or having difficulties and you know you want your family to be safe and many of us are not with our families because we're in different locations and so you just feel very uncomfortable and you feel out of control and a lot of ways and I think the normality of our everyday life really helps with the schedules and things. It really actually helps keeps pounding. So you don't have that. I was even thinking how many people united sometimes you're not even getting dressed because you're like well I'll have to get dressed so I'm just gonNA show which feels good but then after a while you messes with your head. You know what is interesting? I was just thinking about this morning. Is that all the things that we use to show our status and create our value in the world. You know all the material things. All of that level don't mean nothing right now. Meaningless slippers slip. I'm doing to change pajamas honey. I'm doing good just a okay. I want to talk about the grammys. This year's grammys in particular. I was I I remember watching and literally. I promise you my mouth was open. I had to say. Close Your Mouth Oprah wow you I mean it makes my eyes water a little bit now just thinking about how beautifully you stepped into one of the hardest moments of our time and you took control and you mastered it and there was such strength and love and control coming from you on a stage in front of millions of people. I remember Texan you afterwards and I thought well nothing I can say to express what I know that took to do that and I was thinking as a person who's been a communicator. My entire life what would I have done would have been able to handle it as well as you. I don't think anybody anybody could have done a better job than you did with that. Grammy's thank you. Thank you so much it was. Did you do that? You will trade up you must apprai- just of Oh yes. A lot of a lot of meditation. I read hard and I wanted to make sure he honored it properly also acknowledged properly because it was out with ours ours it is warning it was that morning. People were still in shock. We were all still in shock. People were outside the staple center. Like I don't care about the grammys what I just lost my hero. Yeah in that building that he played in. I mean it was. Wow

Sports on Hiatus - The Economic Fallout
"Where were you when you found out that the NBA was going on hiatus? And how did you feel? I was at work at the Kings game. It was around. Maybe nine ish when I heard about the NBA and it was actually a little devastating. Because I knew we would be out of work and if the NBA cancelled it would only be a trickle effect down to the rest of the major sports. How will not working for an extended period of time affect you personally? I mean it's GonNa Affect me a lot That's my only source of income. I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. Where do you do you know? What do you do when something like this happened? This has never happened to us before. So it's hard to say I mean we don't know what the outcome's GonNa be with how long this is. GonNa be but I trust in my union and I trust and the company that I worked for that. They're going to work something out for on Wednesday night mark. Cuban is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks said he was trying to set up a program to help arena workers throughout this suspension. Are you hopeful that something similar might happen in Los Angeles yes? I'm very hopeful that that will happen. And I think that he's a classy owner for even saying that for even thinking about the workers you know nobody really thinks about the people that do all the behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly on any given event. It's about five thousand workers. Five to six thousand people working. We have security. We HAVE TICKET TAKERS. Cook Surburb Bartenders cashiers? Supervisor's what are you hearing from your other Co Workers? They're asking me about their health because I'm a shop steward for the Union. So they're asking me about their health insurance. Are they going to have health insurance in the timeframe that we're not working and I don't have those answers yet you know they're still working those things out so I'm not sure? How did you first start working at the staple center in the first place? A friend of mine told me that staple center with having a job fair and when I got there it was like so many people maybe about two or three thousand people there. I was thinking to myself. It's so many people here. There's no way I might get this job but I got hired here. I am fifteen years later. Do you like working there. I love working at Staples Center. It's the best job to be. It's a great atmosphere. I've met so many different people from so many different walks of life to laugh with those people. We've even cried at the Kobe. Memorial cried when the tragic incident with Kobe happened. Been happy with these people rejoiced with these people. I mean it's the greatest environment to be in in my opinion. What would you say to the NBA? Or I guess ask of the NBA as it attempts to navigate this crisis. I that a ensure that everyone is safe and to not just think about the money that they make that they also think about people that are out of work people. That don't have insurance doesn't matter if you're rich or you don't have money. People are people. So that's what I would say. Adelaide is one of many there are thousands of workers across America working at sports venues. Arenas and these folks are going to see their income hurt in the short term. Because they're not going to be able to work these events. That's Patrick Rish Director of the Sports Business Program at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis Patrick at this point. We don't know how many people in that includes athletes are going to have their health affected by this outbreak. But we know that event like this as a way of exposing to everyone the size and scope of an industry in its economic impact. There are many layers to that that I want to get into but I as pretty much all of sports goes on hiatus. How big is this industry in America? What mean it's pretty sizable. You talk about. The sports is one of the twenty largest industries in America. A billion dollar industry the service workers as we mentioned are really impacted in the short term and it does depend on whether these leagues are simply suspended or whether games are cancelled because it suspended and the Games are made up later in the summer. Then there's not as much of a hit but if there's a cancellation if this burns. Two months in the league's can't squeeze in their completion of their season by the end of the summer. Then you're gonNA find a real hit financially. These service workers on Wednesday night news broke that Utah. Jazz Senate rubare tested positive for the krona virus. Which stopped that game. It sort of kicked off a chain reaction around the NBA. That ultimately leads the League hitting pause at the same time. Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks was interviewed at his own game and talked about the workers about the old. Now that we're not playing games. What about all the people who work here analogy basis? You know we put. We'll put together a program for them but you so many things go through your head right. It's hard to know exactly. How vulnerable are these workers if something like this was to persist for a long period of time? They're very vulnerable because many of them working in this profession they don't necessarily have college degrees a lot of them. I can speak in. Saint Louis and I know this is true in other markets if somebody is bender expert medium for baseball game. They're going to be a vendor at the Enterprise Centre for Blues Game so where these folks again. Many of them be surprised if their annual incomes or any hired say maybe twenties to mid thirty thousand dollars a year so it's really very susceptible of course the lodging in the restaurant industry in these markets. They're hurt too. Certainly I again here in Saint Louis. We were supposed to host first second round the championships. That's not going to be here this year because of what's happened so certainly the hotels take a hit. A restaurant take a hit. In addition hearing from Cuban we also found out that Cavaliers Star Kevin love as planning to commit a hundred thousand dollars to help arena workers and support staff Patrick aside from personal generosity what can the NBA in its owners. Do to help these workers I think one thing they can do is in these communities they can use their own. Hr STABS with their teams to try to help them. Connect with temp agencies or other forms of means trying to find at least temporary employment opportunities to find work but just as the sports industry is getting hit with. What's going on here? This is widespread. There are several industries right now that feels somewhat frozen. There's a fear. Obviously that's on a mock nationally so this does have an impact on not just the sportsman the other businesses. So even if Mark Cuban or lake up or any of the other owners were to try to use their. Hr STABS to help their staff by physicians locally. That may be challenging right now right. You mentioned the cottage industry around Sports. The impact potentially on hotels and restaurants tourism. But normally you know win. There aren't sports other tourism steps in however I imagine everything is going to be impacted by this so it all just compounds no question in particular March madness and all the other. Ncaa's championships you know the big difference between the MTA championship bands. Whether it's basketball hockey wrestling is that these pods and regionals and final fours. Losing fours and the like a large percentage of the visitors are coming from outside of the community. You can't say that for the NBA in the NHL. Most of those games five or ten percent of the fans are coming from outside of the market so the hotels the restaurants really impacted but then how these other industries Meena instance thing. I'll just kinda bring it locally here since we're being impacted by this now. The local sports commission busted their tail to put a bid for this event and bring the event the Saint Louis all that time and effort that they put in. They don't see any of a commission on the back end. How about all the event production stabs and the sound and lighting engineers? And then. Of course you've got people like Uber and lift or people that operate. A A buddy that operates a video bending machine business here. So if people aren't coming then they're not going to restaurants. They're not playing his touch. Screeners Golden
Los Angeles - After being pushed around, Lakers push back and beat Clippers
"Of the Lakers topped the clippers for the first time this season one twelve to one of three in a game at staples center the Lakers have a six and a half game lead over the clippers for the number one playoff seed in the Western Conference the two teams will play again next month in a game that was rescheduled following the death of Kobe Bryant
Health Officials Warn Americans To Plan For The Spread Of Coronavirus In U.S.
"Be cove in nineteen the corona virus and its continued spread throughout the United States the death toll has risen to twelve people that number could be changing but as of now that's what we have this past week we had our first death in California that was connected to a cruise ship that traveled from the U. S. to Mexico Los Angeles also declared a health emergency after there were six new cases that were confirmed there one of which was a worker and Allie X. two screens incoming flights from China for more on this we spoke to Steve Gregory he's a reporter KFI news in Los Angeles to talk about how local cities are handling the outbreak and also why we might have to start practicing social distancing a state of emergency for people to know is that it's basically a message in which to free up funding resources supplies I think people are most commonly hearing state of emergency after a tornado and earthquake a flood and when they call in female things like that well in a health crisis like this state of emergency do exactly the same thing is other natural disasters and Daddy is that document allows the federal government to tap into a reserve fund or state government or a regional government and they're able to get these funds to help them pay for overtime additional staffing more testing kits which is a really big deal right now with this covert nineteen strain and in Los Angeles actually in some cases a little overdue to do this because we had already had the six confirmed cases and we also know that they've tested at least six hundred fifty people in the Los Angeles county area thus far and only the six have come out with the actual confirmation of the virus so that state of emergency it basically allows governments to tap into reserve funds and reserve resources the official speaking today said that this was not a response rooted in panic and that's important to say because people do your emergency and they are going to AZ what we know about the new cases and L. eighty six cases we do know that they all originated from the same travel situation and that means basically they've ruled out that it was person to person in California or in southern California south but basically those inspected it were a result of inbound travel from northern Italy in that area that people have been traveling there come back together as a group and then they splintered off after they got into the Los Angeles county area and then they were sort of having to work to contain all of them but they found the point of origin for the virus of all the six cases and that was the concerning part of this community spread it which they suspected was what was happening in Washington state that's the bad version that's not what you want I did read and correct me if I'm wrong they said that the six case was a person who works in a field that exposes them to international travelers what we've been able to find out if it's a worker at the Los Angeles International Airport and that worker with inside a minute what they call an airline trans Atlantic so this could be one of those VIP lounges something along those lines that was the first thing I thought airport I wrote in my notes right here airport and big question marks what are the other interesting things like Los Angeles officials are talking about this was this notion of social distancing it caught my ear right away there's different efforts to try to stem the spread of things so we know about isolating patients that are infected from other people so that doesn't get out quarantining we've heard about that but social distancing is this other element to this tell us about that because that one kind of leads into when you start hearing about ghost towns people not going out or I think the line was stay six feet away from strangers basically all we're saying is be aware of your personal space and make sure you're aware of others personal space that's really what it boils down to the very fancy term that medical professionals use and especially this case epidemiologists and others that have to deal with mass situations there have been a lot of meetings with those that run venues here we have staples center we have the Microsoft center we have a lot of venues in Los Angeles where lots of people gather M. in particular sports arenas and sports gatherings and that's a big problem right now which was funny to me during a press conference this morning when they were talking about that and every political official behind them were all standing shoulder to shoulder and it was kind of interesting that they're telling everyone else to be aware of their personal space and everyone else was almost arm in arm and it's kind of interesting but it really boils down to common sense and that's what the health director of the Los Angeles county health department was really trying to get across the declaration of state of emergency it's just an administrative function there's no need to panic wash your hands make sure you're aware of your space around you don't crowd someone else be cognizant of when you're going to a public space into a restroom or anything like that just be aware of your surroundings we keep talking about this declarations of health emergencies house lawmakers on Wednesday agreed to a deal to allocate about eight billion dollars to help federal government's fight the coronavirus some of this money will go to state officials and trickled on down so that's why it's important that these cities and counties and all star declaring these health emergencies and ice image we're talking about LA specifically but there's at least thirteen states have reported coronavirus cases since late January so this is gonna start popping up as this keeps spreading and you mentioned testing kits and all as they do more tests we'll see the numbers increase but still by and large not any reason to start panicking just yet Steve Gregory reporter if I news in Los Angeles thank you very much for joining us always later Oscar after taking a look at Los Angeles we want to take a look at New York where there have been cases of community spread it continues to spread their New York where there was at least twenty two cases that number could have risen by now and most of these cases in New York were tied to a lawyer in Manhattan who has underlying respiratory issues infected his family then a neighbor then friends and has led to about one thousand people self quarantining this is all happening in a very close knit Jewish community in the meantime New York continues to monitor and test those who are at risk of having contracted the virus for more on the spread there New York we spoke to Ben Guarino he's a reporter for The Washington Post so the community spread has been identified with a fifty year old attorney who works in midtown Manhattan he is part of a close knit community in Westchester New York where he attends kindergarten his children go to Jewish schools in the area and so those are the ones that have been made his self quarantine so hello members of the synagogue he attends classmate of his children who go to the schools have decided to tell quarantine at home so the officials estimate about a thousand people roughly in in Westchester affiliated with with some of these public meeting places have self quarantine so help walk us through how this happened because from my understanding this lawyer he does have an underlying respiratory condition so he's in the hospital but what happened was that there was a bar mitzvah and there was also a funeral where I think the funerals for a founder of of the synagogue there that's why there were so many people in attendance but explain to us what happened with the doctor I have my understanding was it was like the doctor and it was his wife and kids and then a neighbor it help walk us through that yes the New York City has disease detectives they call them and they try to find every link every possible link between someone who might have come into contact so we have this fifty year old attorney D. as you're exactly right you have an underlying respiratory illness and that's one of the demographics that can be severe for this disease so for most people it's going to be okay but in this case he had an underlying respiratory illness so he had a neighbor drive him to the hospital where he's currently in stable condition but then the neighbor tested positive that the attorney's wife who works at the midtown Manhattan law firm with him she tested positive their two children did and then adds more testing was done as these links were investigated then that number started to rise at a positive test a family friend tested positive that French wife tested positive and three of their four children so and as of this morning I don't know the specifics of the individuals but in addition to those folks I just mentioned eight other individuals with some community ties to this attorney have also tested positive in all of those cases their home they have mild or asymptomatic they're not expressing symptoms and
Los Angeles County declares state of emergency
"The biggest story of the week has to be cove in nineteen the corona virus and its continued spread throughout the United States the death toll has risen to twelve people that number could be changing but as of now that's what we have this past week we had our first death in California that was connected to a cruise ship that traveled from the U. S. to Mexico Los Angeles also declared a health emergency after there were six new cases that were confirmed there one of which was a worker and Allie X. two screens incoming flights from China for more on this we spoke to Steve Gregory he's a reporter KFI news in Los Angeles to talk about how local cities are handling the outbreak and also why we might have to start practicing social distancing a state of emergency for people to know is that it's basically a message in which to free up funding resources supplies I think people are most commonly hearing state of emergency after a tornado and earthquake a flood and when they call in female things like that well in a health crisis like this states of emergency do exactly the same thing is other natural disasters and Daddy is that document allows the federal government to tap into a reserve fund or state government or a regional government and they're able to get these funds to help them pay for overtime additional staffing more testing kits which is a really big deal right now with this covert nineteen strain and in Los Angeles actually in some cases a little overdue to do this because we already had the six confirmed cases and we also know that they've tested at least six hundred fifty people in the Los Angeles county area thus far and only the six have come out with the actual confirmation of the virus so that state of emergency it basically allows governments to tap into reserve funds and reserve resources the official speaking today said that this was not a response rooted in panic and that's important to say because people do your emergency and they are going crazy what we know about the new cases and L. eighty six cases we do know that they all originated from the same travel situation and that means basically they've ruled out that it was person to person in California or in southern California self but basically those infected it were a result of inbound travel from northern Italy in that area people have been traveling there come back together as a group and then they splintered off after they got into the Los Angeles county area and then they were sort of having to work to contain all of them but they found the point of origin for the virus of all the six cases and that was the concerning part of this community spread it which they suspected was what was happening in Washington state that's the bad version that's not what you want I did read and correct me if I'm wrong they said that the six case was a person who works in a field that exposes them to international travelers what we've been able to find out if it's a worker at the Los Angeles International Airport and that worker was inside of it what they call an airline trains that land so this could be one of those VIP lounges something along those lines that was the first thing I thought airport I wrote in my notes right here airport and big question marks one of the other interesting things like Los Angeles officials are talking about this was this notion of social distancing I caught my ear right away there's different efforts to try to stem the spread of things so we know about isolating patients that are infected from other people so that doesn't get out quarantining we've heard about that but social distancing is this other element to this tell us about that because that one kind of leads into when you start hearing about ghost towns people not going out or I think the line was stay six feet away from strangers basically all we're saying is be aware of your personal space and make sure you're aware of others personal space that's really what it boils down to the very fancy term that medical professionals use and especially this case epidemiologists and others that have to deal with mass situations there have been a lot of meetings with those that run venue here we have staples center we have the Microsoft center we have a lot of venues in Los Angeles where lots of people gather M. in particular sports arenas and sports gatherings and that's a big problem right now which was funny to me during a press conference this morning when they were talking about that and every political official behind them were all standing shoulder to shoulder and it was kind of interesting that they're telling everyone else to be aware of their personal space and everyone else was almost arm in arm and it's kind of interesting but it really boils down to common sense and that's what the health director of the Los Angeles county health department was really trying to get across the declaration of state of emergency it's just an administrative function there's no need to panic wash your hands make sure you're aware of your space around you don't crowd someone else be cognizant of when you're going to a public space into a restroom or anything like that just be aware of your
LeBron: 'Never' have closure over Kobe's death
"And on Tuesday night the Lakers staged the game at the staples center the very place where the Kobe Bryant memorial service and celebration of life's life event went on one day there was a lot of conjecture about lebron James was he there were was he what was he doing how was he morning how was he grieving he said on Tuesday afternoon by that he was never going to get closure for Colby's tragic death and maybe as we wait for lebron to comment after the Lakers beat the pelicans Tuesday night one twenty three to one thirteen he will talk about what it was like to be on that court a little bit more than twenty four hours after that spectacle that unbelievable event where a lot of tears were shed Michael Jordan I created another Jordan crying Jordan meme meme of the amazing courage and perseverance of Kobe's wife an S. and what she said in her eulogy about her late husband in late thirteen year old daughter but you still just if you know S. I say that it's still kills me to

Los Angeles: Kobe & Gianna Bryant — A Celebration Of Life
"Eighty Kobe Bryant superstar in the NBA obviously will be a whole Famer among the twenty thousand at staples center for Monday's celebration of life a who's who of the basketball world surely wasn't lost on folks over the first four speakers at the memorial but as a Bryant Diana Taurasi Sabrina Ionescu you and your family trump is not a clear message of just how much women's basketball become part of the Bryan family life an emotional day overall though just intensely from the undefeated if it looks motional on television it would have been a hundred times more in person people in the crowd were hugging each other people in the crowd crying initially during the actual ceremony like nobody nobody knew there was a sense of excitement there was a sense of shock remember also sent you wouldn't it would be actually walked onstage that I've heard rumors that she might be performing but I don't know if you're actually going to perform but the energy throughout it was reported in these also very sad that this which felt like the up by now would be if at least one part of the grieving process and there wasn't a dry eye in the house from the press row where I was at did the men and women and the kids who were in it and it over twenty thousand people every year which is one of the most emotionally draining but it also depends on beautiful experience of my life that was the feeling at staples on Monday as for the cloud that's been over LA for the past month all Ramona Shelburne is in Los Angeles it's actually more of Toby the last month right and we have he retired a vintage bike everywhere everywhere you go it's photos of him and videos of him I work where we're playing his words will playing games or you know you drive right away that the girls everywhere there there's there's like over eighty murals of Kobe in Los Angeles Kobe and Eugene G. N. L. I mean it's like it's everywhere you go and so I mean it's it's interesting because like you know on the one hand you know it's like he's gone in your and you already feel like them all out you know we we miss them and and you know there's the processing of that tragedy but on the other hand it's like I don't know that human beings can exist in a place where we feel this bad for that long right like you know when you're in that green apple apple first week it was like everybody felt so bad and it was like everywhere you went you would view photos and videos and like I actually think some people might like it too much right it's hard every human being to process that level of badness go back to that first game I think kinda help people move forward afterwards because it was like the first game Stanton it's like the last couple weeks it's it's been like you know you you kind of got back your life right we've had you know a lot and then there been meaningful basketball games have normal conversations and then today cool it was white everything felt all over again right especially when and I don't know everybody had different reactions said today by I I'm never going to forget but nothing blank any up there doing that like I mean I don't even just seeing her walk up to the fate I just started crying I was like oh my god the remote and that's kind of the jumping off point that I'm in all watching and the point that you made afterwards was you know a lot of this was also discovering the power of this woman because for so long she was never in the limelight by her choice and also will be probably fulfilling that you said in terms of protecting our children from the aggressive media that want to get to know the goats other half and so in a way this is her kind of showing us this power of this of this person on such a tragic stage right yeah I'm not able to put it like look I I know Vanessa from you know thank let her in the hallway outside the locker room right you know she he went he was always nice that allow she was like she's a mom you know like every time I saw her she had to have two little girls brings honor you know it needs repairing related values games will be like ten o'clock at night like the girls are falling asleep right so she could she would like them to do and mom stuff and I mean I can relate to that rate like you know home you know you just you know you want to say hi and you guys like I got the sleeping baby on my shoulder you know so she you know she's kind of bed that that woman for a long

"The staples center and John we appreciate a few minutes first of all from what you can garner would we know Kemba Walker is out today how concerned are the Celtics about his health at this point I don't think it's that big a deal I'm sure if this was a must game a playoff game that he'd be out there ready to go just you know load management like we see time and time again throughout the NBA so I don't think there's any big concern for Kemba Walker as we move forward that's certainly the a term of the NBA in the two thousand twenty era so I wanted to ask you we know the Celtics Lakers rivalry was historic in the eighties it's never quite felt the same other than short bursts since that time so do you think John that the two thousand twenty version of these two teams could renew that rivalry for as the first match up between these two this season it didn't do that yeah I sure hope you know obviously the eighties for me of being my age was the greatest thing ever I mean I think the greatest rivalry in sports was the Celtics Lakers and it's it seems to get that big feeling again as I walk into the staples center today to see bill Russell here I just saw Kevin Garnett walk in I'm sure it'll be some other former Lakers will Michael Thompson sitting to my left right here so there's a lot of Laker greats it'll probably be here as well obviously with Kobe's memorial tomorrow a service here staples is gonna be a lot of luminaries here I'm sure but you know those finals in oh eight oh nine whatever they were eight ten they had a great field to I remember being here for game seven between the Celtics Lakers and there's not much better than that then a game seven between these two historic TSB enemy ello NBA analyst John Barry whether you want to call the Celtics Lakers later this afternoon what matchup intrigues you the most here today well any time you have lebron James and these wings for the Boston Celtics you know gore Hey Richard guy to me that's really been overlooked for this Celtic team obviously you want to talk about Jayson Tatum Kemba Walker the two all stars but Gordon Hayward's got his form back we remember the horrific injury obviously but before in Utah for a couple years this guy was an all star player a twenty four point score either eighteen points per game just because you're not gonna have three guys average over twenty that just doesn't happen in the NBA but he's shooting the ball a terrific almost forty percent from the three point line and he's a difference maker to may so you know those three guys Jaylen brown Tatum and Hayward all going up against lebron James and I think we'll see a very hungry Laker team after getting a hundred thirty nine put on a losing by thirty to their worst loss of the season I imagine we see a very spirited Laker group here this afternoon now I know in the Davis is dealing with a bruised calf I I hear that he's expected to go anyway so I'm curious to know if you think it's going to slow him down at all and then also John AZ Anthony Davis allowing lebron to age gracefully or is the bronze is not a actually hitting that age decline yet like we thought maybe he was yeah I think a deal be fine at what he did was just a bruise it happen in the first half of the Memphis came he came back and had a incredible second half of the kia twenty four in the second half I it's seven blocks in that game a look like a defensive of the player of the year candidate so they'll be no problem for Anthony this afternoon and yeah I I think it's a great luxury of for lebron that Anthony Davis is a guy they can go to a late in ballgames and and maybe a little less stress for lebron James but man he looks rejuvenated obviously didn't play in the playoffs last year I missed the last twenty or so ball game so he had extended period time off that he hasn't had a lot of years and it shows because the energies there are spying on both ends of the floor of the floor leading the league in assists at the age of thirty five would be the oldest since the NBA's ever had he's been he's had a credible year but after the Davis obviously play with a guy like that makes the game a lot easier John very ESPN NBA analyst has the Lakers and Celtics this afternoon here on ESPN radio couple of other things around the league the other occupants of the staples center haven't played particularly well lately what do you make of the clippers at the moment well I would venture to say that they haven't had over five practices as a full team and I know they haven't had five games with their full complement of so that that's a big deal I think if you just put the teams on paper I would pick the clippers I would take that roster but again with all the things that have gone on the injuries Paul George with the load management with Kawhi Leonard Beverly's missed time you add Marcus Morris now you add Reggie Jackson it's a team that they're gonna need three two to three weeks at least by the end of the season to get some camaraderie to get some familiarity with each other as they move in the playoff you can't just stick a bunch of guys on the on the court without practice time without game time and think that you're going to run through the Western Conference and get to an NBA championship so health is going to be big like I said those last couple weeks we need to see this clipper team in full if they're gonna make a run the playoffs sticking with some of the other story lines around the NBA Steph curry he's eyeing reportedly a March first return if you were the warriors would you bother bringing curry back well I don't know that it's up to the workers I I saw stuff amount of attendant days ago two weeks ago and I said you coming back he goes yeah I'm bored okay well if that's if you're bored you you've got to go play go play I don't know that is that big of a deal of obviously they don't really need to win at this point of the better the draft pick the better the opportunity they have either make a trade or get a better player obviously but yeah he just said he's bored he wants to play he loves to play and I don't think it's going to be a much heavy lifting because this team regardless of the SDF career not a not gonna win a lot of ball games John there's been a lot of concern around the Sixers this year and now Ben Simmons aggravated this back injury he suffered earlier in the week there seems to be according to Welch real concern on their part that would that in essence really do in the Sixers in the east for this year no question if Ben Simmons as a player they have no chance I would say even if he does play and they start on the road they have no chance at have you seen them on the road lately it's it's unbelievable to have this discrepancy I believe they have the best record at home they've only lost twice at home and I think there may be nine and twenty on the road at this point it's really odd to me I don't understand it I think if you look at something like that that's got to be a leadership thing because there's no way you can have a team be that dominant at home and be that poor on the road so Ben Simmons gone yeah that that team I don't believe it's out of the first round they're going to be either the for five or six seed I would gas and I don't see him getting by a first round series without Ben Simmons John we appreciate the time very much have a great call this afternoon Caskey Celtics Lakers at the staples center three o'clock coverage begins thanks again okay thank you John berry ESPN NBA analyst and get a lot more coming up here in relation to this whole situation with the Sixers with Jo Ellan beat it with Ben Simmons and where that's all going to play out because in the Eastern Conference it's been all about Yanis all season long but last night when you lose Ben Simmons in a game like that that early it is a red flag to where they are headed but Jo Ellan beat have the interesting quote this week we'll get into that in just moments it is very date right here with Chris Carlin and amber Wilson on ESPN radio and ESPN app the end for the.

"He played a lot of first base. You've got Kiki Hernandez who can play all over the field. You Got Chris Taylor who can play over the field. You've got a bunch of guys that you can move around jock. Peterson is a very versatile player as well he can play all three outfield positions. He you can play first base so you add Mukhi bets. That makes you really not losing anything. You heard buster right. There say they're not giving away any of their really really high profile guys like will Smith or Gavin locks these guys that we've known for a long time adding mookie. Betts is massive if it gets done. That's not oh. Hey that's a really huge huge. Let me ask you this though. Why are they willing to letting go walk money money money and they know that they're not close? The the the the reason bets has not moved yet according to the conventional wisdom. Is that the the Red Sox at least wanted to start the year to see how far away they were from the Yankees to see how quickly the Yankees were able to separate from the pack and if they could stay close long enough. I'm going to hold onto him because maybe we can catch him at the end was cheating anymore. uh-huh maybe not but I came to the realization that we're not going to be able to hang with those guys so let's hit the button. Let's start over and he's probably not a part of what we're GonNa do you down the line we don't want to pay him Cetera et Cetera et Cetera. Let's move him get younger. Get cheaper the business part of it for the for the red sox all the sense in world I would argue the beneficiary part for the dodgers is that they're getting a Gamer. I don't really care about but your regular season numbers at this point because that's over the stretch of a lot of gains. What I care about is whether or not you can perform with the minute you schedule rush? WanNa shrunk down to five games to seven games. Can you be a Gamer in the postseason. mookie Betts has proven he can be that to me. Is the enticing part. Not The you know all he averages there's and he's got fifteen home runs like that's all finding minded. Then we got a bunch of guys then give nice juicy numbers for the regular season. We get real skinny when it gets to the postseason about. Who's hitting to me and travis correcting from wrong right now? I feel like we've got two guys we're GONNA depend on to get a hit in the postseason. Well everything else is grab bag. Jt Got Muncie. Everything else is is like. Hold your breath and see what's going to happen. I shot the same old pitch last year but remember the same guys that pige last year. We've been complain about them in the postseason we hold them up you know. Put them up in the air in a regular season but then when the postseason come all of a sudden we start scratching in tossing and turning. And I hear what you start. The season with is never which the season with an upgrade that as you go through the season so but look I've they've been critical of Clayton Kershaw. I think as much as anybody Clayton kershaw still really really good pitcher Clayton. Kershaw is go out there and win a bunch of Games Walker bueller is is developing into a legitimate number one ace not on the dodgers in baseball. He's one of those guys he's star. He Opens Your Your playoff series. He's is one of those guys You've got a bunch of depth in your rotation. I don't know. Keep your point that if we have Strasbourg. I don't know if we have Garrett Cole one of those guys anymore to get them but I don't know if you can't pick one of those up along the way every year Verlinden Darvish moves that. Got Guys move at our a deadline. Here's another way to look at this to think about the star power in southern California baseball all of a sudden. You're talking about trout and ren down down in Anaheim you're talking about Manny Machado in San Diego with the padres you've got each euro. You've got otani roasted awesome. Chiro Shohei Ohtani. WHO's coming back? He's GonNa Pitch this year. He's GonNa hit. He's a Mega Mega Mega Star. Then with the dodgers are loaded bets you got Mukhi you bet. You got cody bellinger. You Got Clayton Kershaw. Just the star power. In what is that a seventy five ninety mile radius. That's raising it is crazy now. Do now is get people. Actually you care. I mean trump. been here for a minute. You got to get people to care. How do you get people to care or home care right now because it got J. Lo and secure on on TV right right now? Let's do this. Let's go to break into that that we have our full attention on J.. Lo and what. She's talking about with her halftime. Don't you dare keyshawn. "A few guys were asking me what people projecting them to finish. And I kept saying anywhere between eight and ten in the west, maybe a playoff spot, most likely, not one the nice thing. I know they got as high as with third in. Wes on the ethic. One point I in a west we knew that wouldn't last was idea that they made it flaws. They'll plan the warriors anyone a game up at oracle that crazy arena. Those crazy fans being down thirty one. I've never seen that before you know, why? Because it's been. How about that? Who's the team that has no all stars the name recognition is really hard. But they don't seem like they have that chip on the shoulder of. Oh, you guys are against it's more. Okay. Cool. You want to jump on the Rhine come on? It was gonna be a fun one. Like they've really seem to embrace their attitude bedroom. Then that off anybody at anytime any moment. Do some tough dues map. Pat Beverley is from Chicago Lou wheel is from Atlanta. Montreal Sheraton, South Carolina. These guys are tough players in the vigil that rivers is from Chicago's inbred. And then he's telling them guys. Look, we can beat these guys. We can be anyone and we're not just happy to be here. That's not the deal. We want to win. Because if we lose games, we're gonna walk away. Saying man we lost this game. We didn't get to the second round of the playoffs. So they're a tough tough team funding and it back down to no one you back down, the nobody. But I try not to your well, I'm afraid of plastic by we all are. Best. Sounds like a team that's fun to root for a team that is building an organization as everything going the right way for them game. Four will be Sunday twelve thirty at Staples Center against the warriors. I will say this when you walk into the clippers locker room, you can feel that attitude. You can see what the other reporters we're talking about if they fun squat. Thanks everybody involved with the project. Dave wine was a producer. "Then Wiki was like me and like six other people and that was at the height of the clipper run. So that's music that years of quiet, Leonard way, I can go to Los Angeles and win and not do media suite where do I sign? Well, we'll talk about them on the early. Do that just know if you sign an LA, you're getting on the podcast interview. We may Bardia in the locker room get you. Appreciate it. Thanks, Don McLean. And you're calling the game. I was Ralph Lawler on prime ticket. You see this team all year long? If somebody had to ask you the scribe them. How would you best describe these clippers together you don't come back from thirty one down? If you're not together as a team and you play for each other. And to me that's been the biggest narrative with this team all years with all the stuff that's happened at the trade deadline all these new players, and they've always stayed together. And they play for each other, which isn't that common in the NBA? And so when you get a group of no all stars. But really good players that come together. You can do what they did on Monday night. You play UCLA in the NBA. You train a lot of NBA players now as a hit ready to come to the league. Not too often to hear somebody say together about a team especially in two thousand nineteen they so different. It starts at the top your ownership, and then it trickles down through the front office. And then it gets to the. Coach, and then it gets to your locker room. And I think docs, leadership has always been there. I think he's the perfect coach for a group like this. He gets the players to believe in themselves and play together. Again. That's not that common in the league. A lot of guys are out there for themselves trying to get their numbers to get a contract. This group is playing for stuff individually. There's still a lot of guys on this roster that how things to prove. But they've all come together. And it just speaks to the leadership doc in the veteran leadership in the locker room. How hard is it for the guys to put that be five where they say I want to get mine. I gotta get my numbers. I dunno where on the play next year. Even if it's in the league, we have a collective effort, especially when the going up against the warriors. Let me tell you something smart players understand this that if you really just out here to make money, which a lot of guys are you'll make more money on winning teams. So if you think you want to get a better contract, you'll get a better contract by being on a winning team a team that you watch the place the right way that plays hard the place together. All these guys understand that to get what they want individually. It's better if you do it collectively. It sounds like it's a fun team to be around. Yeah. Listen, even the common fan that comes twice a year. Here it jumps off the page. How hard these guys play in how selfish they are you go to Rina's across the country. It's not like that every night. And I can't remember night there. Maybe he's been a quarter or a half. Or you're like man, they just don't have it tonight, which isn't unusual in the eighty two game schedule. But if you're here every night watching this team, you marvel at how hard they play thanks time. You welcome clippers radio play by play voice. Brian Stephen you've been in LA more than a decade..

"Oh, now, you wanna talk to this team doesn't seem to have a chip on the shoulder at all. Yeah. Here's the thing with the clippers. It's that I cover them during the lob city years despite their success, they have not been able to penetrate, the market of Los Angeles because as you know, you got to win championships. So you gotta get to the finals or at least get the conference finals, and they haven't been able to do that. And again, this team might not do that they probably won't do that. But the fact that they had a thirty one point comeback. They made history. That's the team that you can kind of get behind and support Nelson. Listen, dear Nago against the warriors. Exactly. That's what we know Clinton. They know enough talked to people with the team they're not going to convert Laker fan. If you're a Laker fan, you're a Laker fan. But they wanna recruit the kids, and they're hoping that people forget if you're ten years old, right? Well, you only know the clippers is like the best team of Los Angeles. Remember the Lakers. Right. Yeah. So the Lakers are in a position where they gotta watch out here. Because all of a sudden, they get to max guys. And all of a sudden, it's the clippers like you were raising the next generation of to be clipper fans, they're not necessarily the parents. Now, would you would you allow your son to clear, here's the thing? I'll complain oh my son is now fourteen he is a warriors fan because Steph curry and Klay were coming up and he's the best player. And who are you watching on TV? So he's also a Laker fan. But he also realizes I'm watching the teams in the playoffs. I'm getting text messages from him about Dame Lillard from him about Westbrook. And the basketball fans are watching this and what we do in April may and June. We're watching hoops and the clippers of the night opened up. Some is I'm not saying we're going to convert people. But the reason we brought the podcast to the staple center. We were like, wait a minute. There's a little bit of buzz generating who are these guys. And for the people that we talked to everybody involved said that these are good, and we haven't even mentioned their names yet because we don't know who they, but they're fun to watch your the fourth team in the history of the league that has won more than thirty five games. No all-star. No current also. Store your former all star. There's no one on this team achieved any level of great success thing. I'm Beverly then Ila Gillan Ari. These are names that if you go down Los Angeles, maybe they made her rings hard clipping. So there's a part of this team that like you go against the grain, right? Like, you don't always have to like the most popular celebrity the most popular team. So they're against the grain. That's why this clipper fan base has really embraced this team. There's no superstars on those team. There's no expectation. They're just having some fun, and they are a fun team to watch. How do they build off of this? They way the build off this building a foundation, you know, how the Lakers are kind of in disarray. Who's going to be the president who's going to be the coach what's happening? Steve bommer. He's in place, Jerry, West Lawrence, Frank. They're in place. Doc rivers. He's in place just signed a contract extension stability. And then you have to max contracts into be honest. We both know they might even hype on this. No one's gonna care. If you go to the clippers that's music to the ears of Leonard Cohen, I wanna talk to the media. So if you tell Colli you could play and when you're done, you might have six people at your press conference. Maybe exactly I covered this team when they had Chris Paul Blake Griffin. Laundry Jordan, and they were one of the top five teams in the league. It was me Brad Turner..

"And whose main goes to win legendary broadcaster Jim hill joins us Jim week ago. We were at the Lakers last game of the season. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. What did you say? We wear at the Lakers last game of the season where we know we're talking about playoff team. And I'm talking about the clippers and the reason I'm bringing this up going back a week. What is this the twilight zone? Jim you keep it in perspective. The difference. And the contrast in the two organizations right now is just night in days. It feels like when you walk into the building. There's an energy an excitement that the clippers are providing for the fans. Do you feel that I would say the Lakers are corporate the clippers hip hop. What you're talking about? No that that may be the way that a lot of people are interpreting the atmosphere around the two clubs. But right now, all the all the tension should be on what the clippers have done. And hopefully what they can do. The Lakers are the Lakers. And if you if you understand the history of the Lakers, you know, every three four five years something happens to stir conversation and thought I've learned a long time ago things you have no control over don't worry about it. And the clippers are team right now their opponent the warriors in the first one of the playoffs. But they seem like a team. They don't matter. Let's just come up there and ball they seem like a fun team. Yeah. They are. They care about. Each other. They have a lot of fun with each other on and off the floor. Doc rivers. This should be coach of the year. This is one of the best jobs he's ever done. Of course. Sure. The war is going to be angry when they come on the floor. They going to be seeking revenge. Kevin Durant may think he's gonna shoot shoot about twenty five or thirty times in the first half, the clippers don't care. They really don't don't care, man. They've got that or about him about you know, what you gotta deal with us instead of us dealing with. You seem like they're grinders just gonna come out there, and work pack the Lynch pill. Let's get going don't they? Well, you know, when you have the kind of work ethic that they have when you don't have a quote unquote, superstar like a lot of teams have you tried to depend on everyone shares in on the blame. And everyone shares in on the victory. So it's a wonderful job that doc has done this year. Of course, the bomber who has more money than any owner anywhere gives them that confidence that when you see him on the sidelines yelling and screaming going horse. He likes what he sees? It's gonna be fun. Who are these guys there guys right now that have the attention of the basketball world because of not because they won one game. But how they won that one game where they won that one game. And who they won that one game against now. Golden State is gonna come back angry. I'll tell you what let me put it this way if they gonna thirty one again, they're not gonna take the starters out. There's not going to be any of that junk tonight, you can believe that Jim hill always thinks your time arosh Markazi, what's your title, a sports columnist? But I feel like a lot of fun stuff better do e sports which you love going to legal legends and overwatch league. You're a man of Los Angeles. You know, what a Lakers championship means? You know, what a dodger dog, but you know, what? Memories. But that's locked up. In LA bashing them. But it's the clippers angels play second fiddle to the other teams. And when you're watching a clipper team in a playoff this year, two thousand nineteen I'm watching at home. I'm like, wow this team looks on. I'm be completely honest is my first game of the year. And I think for a lot of people it's their first game of the year. But when you talk to the clipper players, they get that attitude of cool, you're here. What's not in the past? With other teams you show up in playoff time..

"Also, I've had a lot of fun. I've enjoyed all of the previous forty. We won thirteen games lost sixty nine one year. And I loved every one of those games so same gutters is really pretty short Inari because this has been an extraordinary group. They are fun to watch. They work hard every day. They're all terrific is off the court as well. As on the court. The very gracious to my wife and me and ruled enough to be their great grandparents by and large. So it's a very special group. They seem like it's a group that knows that they're not gonna get attention. No than not many people is on them. But they're just going to go out there and fight for you. What's been fun is everybody thought that why do they want to get the first round of the playoffs? They just gonna get swept by Golden State. Well, they were fighting for fourth fifth and sixth place before finally settling number eight. And then it wasn't on. All we gotta play Golden State. It was all boy, we're gonna. Play the champs. Let's get rid of them quick. And then we don't have to worry about in the rest of the way. And they're exciting win on Monday night as filling as it was which just one step towards a four they have to win. And that's all they've ever thought about since the series began is let's win four one down three goal raw. Thank you very much for your time and the forty years covering the clippers. My pleasure. Believe me the man who knows the clippers inside and out with them. Every single day says training camp every game every practice ever shoot around. The he's the thirteenth member of the crew. Even though he's not on payroll. But nobody better the talk to you about these clippers are beat reporter, and you gripe now, Andrew I'm not gonna lie. I don't read all your game stories. I read your features. But not the game stories at times, you're covering the clippers for the first time. What's it been like for your season? I mean that thirty one point comeback the other night in game to kind of was like with this whole seasons. Been like, no one really expected a whole lot of them. All of a sudden they kind of come out of nowhere. That's been the whole vibe since Hawaii. Training camp. I mean, I remember a road trip where they came back from twenty points down or more three times in the span of about eight days. So that's kind of character this group. So it's good to be the writer for this group because you never quite know which way game is going. Some of the players that you know, after thirty one point comeback. We'll usually do journalism as you kinda. Right. The story as the game is going along. What I've learned with this group is if you write your first beer for graphs, you might have to rewrite that comes back so good and very bad for you. Because you're you're enters now if somebody asked you, hey, what do you do for work? What do you tell them? I am on plane, and I stare into a laptop pretty much all my days, then you telling you over the clippers and they say, oh, yeah. Do they have LeBron James? I've heard that so many times in my stay you have really. Yes. Yes. And it's unfortunate because it seems like it's a really good team that to be around. They seem like good guys. It's really fast any because this team is kind of going for the anti Laker in terms of Fave said named a point saying we don't want to appeal to the glitzy side of Los Angeles. We want to appeal to the blue collar side, grinder, exactly. And that's the whole roster is kind of the anti LeBron in that respect. This is a team that I'm Beth while I'm watching the seem like they're fun. Group to be around with. And I'm not asking you to name names right now. And a lot of people listening for now. Probably like, I don't really know who they are if they walk by me, and I'm not knocking them. Mommy, fun of that. But it's just the identity of blue-collar grab lunch pill..

"A billboard about bible on the way to Staples Center. See who's going to think O'Brien's should just put it in? Maybe just second-year tomorrow night. Let have big night, right? Yeah. Because he let well maybe LeBron losing the Broncos about fifty and twelve owner show him what he's missing. Okay. Well, we have plenty more to talk about including some breaking news guys in the NFL. So we will be right now. All right. We're gonna get to some breaking. Josh Gordon news in just a second. But first the Cowboys are looking back from last week's shutout loss when they host the bucks Sunday on FOX Dallas can clinch the NFC east with a win or losses by both the Redskins and eagles the Cowboys appeared to take their foot off the gas in India. But yesterday Zeki Elliott talked about the importance of handling their business this weekend. Take a listen. We can go out there and secure that. Division title. He's got a note that another they'll be given to up on everything. So I had my say going into this Sunday. So we can come on one. All right, Shannon. What does this tell you? Well, it tells me Zeke gets it also like you had to comment when they told him about him being selected to the Pro Bowl. He says a huge honor to be selected by coaches periods and fans, but that's not the bolt that I'm really interested in Super Bowl ultimate goal. So I love what I'm hearing from z. And he's absolutely right. And I told you this you want to go ahead and secure this the NFC east title quick as you can. Because now do you really want to go on the road the last game and face a division Ponant when they can knock you out of the playoffs. You would like to have this secure. So that way if you have someone that's a little Nick, you can get them. You know, Zack Martin do you really want to bring back Martin back against the giants. You know, let him rest give him that extra week arrest. The skip Zeke is at three. Hundred and fifty eight touches that's forty three more than Todd Gurley. Number two. So you go ahead and secure. You probably can sit Zeke down Zeke, I understand you won't that rushing title..

It's it's like, nothing I've ever seen. I'm imagining that that's what the Rams stadium is going to be like, but just on steroids, even even bigger. I mean, open bar and food. And I mean, it's a crazy scene. It's a great looking atmosphere. I've seen all the games on TV and it does look like a cool place to be watching soccer and may have great fans, and you're not coming now too far to drive. Far away. All right. So Michael had after hearing from the Brian, how do you feel about things for its finals?
