'Strong evidence' shows rioters intended to 'capture and assassinate elected officials,' prosecutors say

"Capital riot, recurrent regards the so called que non shaman. Jacob Chan's leave. Arizona is accused of taking parts in the riots while sporting face paint, no shirt and a furry hat with horns. But while Chancellor's appearance has been the stuff of ridicule, prosecutors say his intentions were in their words. Capture and assassinate elected officials in court documents hints at a more organized effort than first thought. Let's bring in w T o p national security correspondent J. J Green to talk more about this J. J. Why do investigators think writers had plans to actually kill US officials? Yeah, Brennan and Shawn. It's because of the tale of the tape and the transcript prosecutors in Phoenix or in court right now seeking pretrial detention of Chan's Lee, and it's because they say they have strong evidence, including chancellor his own words, which are on video in some places. And his actions at the Capitol that support what they say was the intent of capital rioters to capture and assassinate officials in the U. S government. And that was something that they found evidence of, or at least statements made by Numerous other people that have been involved in this not just on the day of the riot but leading up to it. And even since then, That's the reason why they think there is something to this. And that's the reason why so many people are being rounded up and asked about this particular thing. But JJ during the news conference today by the U. S attorney for D, C and the FBI, the officials there suggested they didn't have any direct Evidence of that yet that the mob intended to murder someone. What does that tell you about the investigation? At this point? Yeah, They're only a week into the investigation, and they're still rounding up suspects and and and evidence, of course, and I think authorities were saying they don't have any evidence that they were organized teams or groups of people that were organized to do this, But that doesn't mean That there wasn't the intent to do this because again looking at some of the weapons that ended up in there. They were firearms in there. There were, um, hammers. There were knives. There were all sorts of items that could inflict bodily harm, and there were people. They said to be to have been literally hunting down members of Congress and other officials. And we're very close to actually getting to vice president Pence and some of them were chanting Hang pants. So you know there is a significant concern about that, actually, being something that was on the minds of people, so this investigation is still kind of early. They maybe haven't found the Actual concrete slam dunk information they want, but there's definitely some indication that it was on the minds of some people now onto the concern about arm protests, possibly around the country. You've talked with law enforcement officials in other states, including Virginia. They say it is a very real concern. What have you learned? Yeah, just spoke not too long ago with Brian Moran, the secretary of public safety and Homeland Security in Virginia. And he made it clear They knew about this intelligence that the FBI brought to us this week, he said. We knew about that several weeks ago. We've been working on this for a while. And that's because Virginia has a very robust intelligence collection apparatus of its own. But the message he says to those that are thinking about going to Richmond or anywhere else in Virginia. Don't do it, he says. We are ready for you, and we're not going to tolerate it, sending a very strong message to those that might be considering going anywhere in Virginia in the next few days, weeks or even months to commit this kind of violence. That they are going to be ready for him. All right, more to come. Thanks, JJ. You're welcome. W T OBY national security correspondent J. J

The white supremacist art in the US Capitol

"Now on the sixth of january we saw terrifying scenes in washington dc as right wing rioters and conspiracy theorists incited by the president. Donald trump and other republican politicians invaded the capitol building one of the emblematic images of that day. Taken by mike tyler for reuters featured one of the reuters walking across the second floor of the capitol holding a confederate flag with chilling irony behind him on. The wall is a portrait of charles. Sumner a nineteenth century massachusetts senator. Who was an abolitionist. But it didn't need the riotous to bring white. Supremacist imagery into the capital. Eight statues of confederate leaders. Still stand in the building. So we're going to begin this episode with a special version of our regular feature work of the week and focus on confederate statues and the capital. Sarah beetham is the chair of liberal arts and assistant professor of history at the pennsylvania academy of the fine arts. she's chosen to focus on a sculpture. that was in the capital until recently but is no longer there. It would valentine's nine hundred ninety nine statue of the confederate general robert e lee which was removed from the capitol's national statuary hall on the twenty first of december twenty twenty. So just over two weeks before the riot sarah the images from the capital last week of confederate imagery inside the capitol were so deeply disturbing but that building actually has white. Supremacist imagery in it already. Doesn't it yes absolutely does You know as i was watching the all of those images going by on my on my phone on my on my computer screen You know i. I was just so upset as an american To be watching and worrying about You know our members of congress their staff in that building Seeing that symbolic space be breach on. I was thinking so much about the officers who put themselves on the line to try to take care of. And and Protect our members of congress. My heart really goes out to all officers who were injured in the two who lost their lives on. But of course i was also thinking about The capital and the spaces as an art historian as a scholar of merck and art on and one of the things that i kept coming back to you over and over again was thinking about the significance of all of the art in that collection You have In the capital you have in the rotunda. You have those enormous paintings of All of these scenes from from american history You have the Rotunda with the Freeze going around. It's that is showing all these different scenes of american history as well But then one of the major parts. That i've been thinking about for a long time as the national statuary hall collection on which is a collection of one hundred statues Two of which come from each state on that Began in eighteen. Sixty four And each state has had the ability over time to donate their own two statues to it. n's There are a couple of different criteria for getting into the statuary hall on the statues has to be either marble or bronze. So kind of the highest level of of preserved stature on the subject must be deceased. Must have been associated with that state on and must be historically noteworthy in some way on and subjects are decided on by the states and then donated to the capitol collection with very little oversight by by the capitol collection on end. What i think that maybe maybe more people know now. But i didn't know until a few years ago. Was that a number of the statues. In the capital. Statuary hall collection are actually confederates Either confederate generals The confederate president. Jefferson davis was there on the confederate vice president alexander stevens on with the one that as i was watching those images over and over and over again the kept coming into my head was the statue of robert e lee Which was donated by the state of virginia in nineteen o nine It was by edward. Valentine who was a well-known converts with a sculptor on and it actually wasn't there to be present for the riots because just been removed in december on december. Twenty first of twenty twenty on. And so you know. A lot of people talk about those images of people going by with confederate flags. But i kept thinking you know. This kind of imagery has been there. has been supporting The the capitol for very long time. We talk a bit about valentine before we go onto the specific scope to that. We're talking about because it seems to me to be really amazing. There is this sculptor who long after the deaths of these people was effectively making statues repeatedly of confederate generals. Can you explain that histories y y walls. Valentine's his creating the statues. Sure so. Valentine was a southerner on his entire family was established in richmond. Virginia on there's a museum there today. The valentine museum that includes collections related. To the whole family he came for a very wealthy family. He wasn't actually a confederate soldier because he was studying overseas to become an artist while the war was over but when he came back He saw real opportunity to get involved in confederate commemoration on and he actually produced a number of major statues That's have been in news in the past couple of months One of them is the g. Sant- of robert e lee Lying dead in state on that is at washington and lee university on in the chapel. That's kind of above where his to miss on. It's very striking sculpture for anybody. Who has even before. I recommend looking

Boeing will pay $2.5 billion to settle charge over 737 Max crashes

"Charge of criminal conspiracy related it to 7 37 Max plane crashes, The company will pay $2.5 billion without pleading guilty. Here's NPR's David Schaper. Federal prosecutors say key Boeing employees to siege safety regulators about a new flight control system on the plane that investigators say played a major role in both deadly crashes. There's some really damning language in there about Sacrificing safety, you know for profit, basically Carl Tobias, his law professor at the University of Richmond, it did not find widespread fraudulent behavior in the company. But these two central employees did engage according to the government in very bad conduct. Prosecutors say the deception by those two Boeing employees quote impeded the government's ability to ensure the safety of the flying public. By singling out just the two employees. Critics say the Justice Department is letting blowing off the hook. I find this find to be inadequate, given the egregious nature of the defense organ Democrat Peter DeFazio chairs the House Transportation Committee, which found widespread evidence of management failures of Boeing. He calls the settlement to slap on the wrist and an insult to the 346 victims. 24 year old Samuel Rose Stew, Mo died in the Ethiopian Airlines crash in March of 2019. Her father is Michael Stew, Mo. This is the Boeing Protection Agreement. Studio points out that Boeing's criminal fine is just $243 million. Most of the breast almost $1.8 billion is compensation that Boeing has already agreed to pay airlines that purchased the 7 37 Max, There's nobody being held accountable. Personally. In a statement, Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun calls it a substantial settlement of a very serious matter that appropriately acknowledges how we fell short of our values and expectations. Iran Increases Uranium Enrichment at Key Nuclear Facility

"Iran, where a syriza of recent developments have complicated relations between Iran's government in the United States. Yesterday, Iranian officials announced that they've started enriching uranium at levels of up to 20% purity. This brings the country's nuclear program closer to how it looked before the 2015 nuclear deal with the U. S and other global leaders. Iran also announced this week that it's Revolutionary Guard has seized a South Korean tanker. The seizure was done in part to retaliate for the billions of dollars that Iran says South Korea owes its government. Money that has been withheld U T U. S sanctions. And while Iran claims it's willing to reverse both of these decisions, the developments make things much more complicated for the U. S. As our government prepares to transition between presidents. Joining me now to discuss is gold, Nas Esfandiari, a senior correspondent with Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty, who covers Iran. Thanks for being here Gold as Thanks for having me, Cindy. So tell us how big of a shift is this latest uranium enrichment policy compared to how Iran's nuclear program Has been operating recently. The 20% and Richmond is an increase from about 4%, which is sets a by the 2015 nuclear agreement that Iran signed with the Obama administration. And other countries and that President Trump abandoned in 2018. The 20% is basically a breach of this agreement. It brings Iran closer. To being able to produce weapons grade uranium, which is citing about it requires about 90% purity. But what is important to know what this is not a shift. It's basically since the U. S left the agreement in 2000 May 2018 Iran waited for a year, and then it started gradually step by step, violating the agreement and decreasing its commitment. So this seems to be in line with the steps Iran has been taking. I was a bit surprised by this because the 20% enrichment is a step required by the parliament. The parliament passed the law in December requiring the government to start enriching Uranium at 20% immediately and the bill passed by the parliament was opposed by the Iranian government. President Rowhani said that this is this is detrimental to diplomacy. And other Iranian officials also opposed it. And then suddenly, and they even passed the bylaw to delay this parliament build. And then suddenly they announced that they started enriching uranium. My 20%, I think what is important also to understand is that Iran seems to be Raising the pressure on the upcoming U. S administration on the BAT Biden administration on D. It's trying to gain leverage for potential talks between the two sides. Hey, Before

Victims' families in Iraq furious over Trump's Blackwater pardons

"Second time. In today's donald trump has dropped a batch of pardons for people mostly comprised of his political cronies and allies among the partners. That were last night. We're four blackwater contractors Former service members who opened fire on unarmed iraqi civilians in this source square into thousand seven at least fourteen people were killed. Seventeen wounded took years to bring those shooters to justice. Three of them were sentenced to thirty years in prison one of them. The sniper who first opened fire was given life without parole now. All four of them have been fully pardoned by president. Donald trump. paul dickenson is a lawyer. Represented the families of several victims in the two thousand seventy source square massacre in civilization. And paul dickson joins me now. I'm paul thank you so much for making time. I wonder if we can just start with your description of what happened in this source square back in two thousand seven and and what it did to the to the families that you represent. Thank you chris. What happened on that day was a traffic circle And traffic going through an ordinary day. Why client ali kanani and his family were an suv. Mohammed was driving through with other family members through the traffic circle. For armored vehicles. Tan-colored armored vehicles were entering. The traffic circle held up their hands and on a stop sign to have the traffic stop muhammed. Who was ali's father thought. Nothing of it because it's frequent especially this close to the green zone where they were the tower. You say there is a blocked from the entrance to the greens on Thought that someone important with either leaving or entering the green zone He looked to his right. Saw the person that's in one of the white vehicles in this video. Say that somebody in rome had just been shot at about that time. Bullets started to rain down his suv. He ducks for cover. Hold his sister. Who's sitting in the front seat down. Ali his son and his two cousins or in the backseat as the bullets rained on muhammed peaks. Up trying to see what's going on sees victims being shot killed machine go viral. All over is if ub as riddled with bullets As soon as it started at stopped He thought everybody was ok. That they had lived through a miracle When one of the cousins in the backseat said that ali was her Mohammed got out of the car opened. The door went to the back seat. Saw blood on the inside of the window and ali slumped over against the glass. He opened the door. And this is a bit graphic but what happened was ali slump towards muhammad is. Skull was open. Portion of his brain fell out onto the pavement in its sort square in fact. There's an image of that in that video that you were showing which i presume that you are not showing on tv. Mohammed cold pushed his son back in. The car turned his vehicle around On flat tires and a shutout windshield and drove to a hospital with only a few blocks behind them behind the source square when they arrive. Ali was doing everything he could for his son but knew that he probably had a fatal injury. Ali was still alive at the hospital. He had doctors look at ali He wanted to get treatment for his son. They told him they could not treat ended. The hospital was like a war zone. There were people in the hallways pickup trucks were bit bringing victims into the hospital. They had an ambulance dispatch for muhammed and ali to neurologic hospital across town. "In it I think we'll spreads. Why do people think Democrats are anti Second Amendment. Look the best Hunter and shooter in Congress is a guy named Vinny Times in a black guy from Mississippi and so I don't know why people assume that we're not for the second amendment but everything has limits you can't have a Bazooka Prey on a bazooka, but you can't, and so you can't have an M16. So at some point, weapons are weapons of mass destruction not the Second Amendment m think about this when they wrote the second. Amendment, there was no such thing as a Ar fifteen there was no such thing as a m sixteen. So the framers of the Constitution. We're not talking about guns that could cause that much carnage in such little time. So you know I don't know why but to have some reasonable. Gun reform like show closing the Charleston Loophole where this kid sat in that church and he said the people were so nice to him that he had second thoughts before he murdered them and you mean to tell me we can't just if your background check doesn't come back in seventy two hours, you have to have that gun. Well, let me just tell you something for. The, person who needs a gun immediately is the person shouldn't have a gun because something is wrong. If you want a gun, you cannot wait to get it and so Those are the types of things I think we just have to talk to the American people that is just common sense and so you know I don't know why Democrats get probably because we let them say you know if you let people. Say. Stuff over and over again, people start to believe it. It's why Mohammed Ali always said he was the greatest but ask him why who said but they had enough people will believe it. That's my. That's always my biggest issue with the Democrats instant messaging. You know that's why I thought the debates would have maybe you know Vice President Biden some good. But do you think people who viewed debate gained any clarity answers? Yeah I. DO I think they they game Samantha's around Kobe nineteen and has been confidence in the fact that still does not have a plan for how you open back up government. He has this make believe, and I don't want to buy a good mind when he jabbed him on the fact that he said drink disinfectant of bleach I mean he tried this president has no clue and how to handle the pandemic because he and his circle of friends they made about three, hundred, billion dollars during this pandemic, our circle of friends they're hurting. one of the biggest differences in the debate besides the fact that this president can't condemn white supremacy and he's going to rush through a Supreme Court tick. That is adverse to Roe v Wade but you know what? Questions all the supreme. Court picks do not answer Brown versus board of Education, and other issues Maranda all of those cases and most of the Games that we made a civil rights movement came from the Supreme Court. So that means the Supreme Court Kim Reversal and I don't trust this president and his private conversations are his agenda touch. This is my final question. How do you think the outcome of this debate helped or harmed Biden because even when I watch Cable News last night. CNN, they were saying like it's not like Biden was good. It's just that trump back a lot of people thought that. Vice President Biden would not be able to hold all that be able to stand up and I think he did that last night and he he did it well. But what I think that the biggest thing that comes out of the debate, his dad around the world they're probably looking at US and laughing at America just like they laughed at Donald. Trump and caught on tape the world leaders, and so are standing in the world is going in opposite direction, and that does not make us safer for a lot of people who may be in a position that they were in with Hillary and trump is not excited about either I think last night was a moment of clarity that one guy is just. Bad. Cramp crazy and other guy is genuinely concerned about their wellbeing and had they plan to get America moving back in the right direction. So I think it will lock in our sauce support and it will make others give a second look when I look at guys like you I, see the future when I look at Senator Harris I see the future I just don't see the future I didn't see the future on that stage I actually saw America I'm so title I will give you the visuals to older white men. However One of those white men pick a black woman to be his running mate, and one of those white men vowed very early on to make sure that he will put a black woman on the Supreme Court because that's the one is a segment of population has been holding us down for a long time, but to it's a segment of. The population that has never had a voice on the highest court in the land and I think that if you look at those commitments that speaks to who years along with the fact that he wants to have the most diverse cabinet in the history of America look is lift every voice agenda it is the most ambitious black agenda of any presidential candidate. In the history of America, if we get Joe Biden and send it a Harrison, the White House and you know the black agenda criminal justice reform from all of these things if they don't get done, you blame you congressman. Because you are the hood black whisperer in that White House we'd have to blame you don't cry now. Look I'll take that and if we get in and we can't a span funding the title, one schools create economic environment for black men and black businesses. If we can do more to protect look, it should be low hanging fruit that black people can live their lives without being shot or killed by the police that should not be asked a lot criminal justice reform making sure that it makes sense holding prosecutors accountable so that white kids don't get diversion at drug court and black kids get a plea bargain if we can accomplish those. Things look I will take charge. I'll take the league because I deserve it I am vouching for his vice president and I believe when we get in office where going to be able to accomplish those things to move the black community forward deliberately. Well, thank you for joining us. Congressman Cedric Richmond we appreciate you for checking in. Don't let this be the last time and we've got what thirty five days before the election got. We got thirty five days dot com on at Senator. Harris. Does her thing next Wednesday? So I know she's GonNa. Show up and show out and do a really good job at show America what she's made of and what black woman magic is. So you know we can do it right after that. All right sounds good. Check umbrella. "Not People go and people buy land everywhere anymore. So Land prices are pretty high looking ahead to Richmond this weekend, it's race number two and Nascar Cup series playoffs haven't heard is their fans this weekend you know that's a good question ninety, eight, thousand I'm guessing no certainly not if there are it's going to be probably about the eight thousand range if they're lucky all right three quarter mile oval from above it looks like a d shaped. superspeedway, but it's not banking up to fourteen degrees. France stretch twelve, hundred, ninety feedback stretch eight, sixty stages look like this stage one eighty states to to thirty five, and then of course, the balance, the race four, hundred, laps, three, hundred miles, Martin Tricks Juniors won the last two races at the track remember no richmond race so far this season because Cova. Yeah. But still, Martin Church. Shooting Guy who have fought so hard and so long to get his first short-track win has all of a sudden emerged as a short. Track master. So that's somebody look out for for sure he's won the last few races this track which you said were both last year So he's Donna to race win streak. Let's see if he can keep going Kevin Harvick on the pole for this one using NASCAR's magical system that nobody understands even did you see this? Even Bob Pockets messed up? He was doing the formula for the xfinity series race right and left out the pole sitter Ross chastain so. That tells you how complicated and convoluted this formula is. Yeah. Bob Doesn't get it. He F- Bob Doesn't get it. We've got problems. We probably need to make it a little simpler because nobody's going to get it. Yeah. Bob Doesn't mess things up. So I just thought that was funny takeaway this week. Joey Logano starts second followed by Austin.

They're trying to understand how to calibrate things out to make things work correctly out even talking gain more to one of these third party apps where you can have a spotter crew chief helping you make good decisions like that. The blame the game is is certainly challenging on. Its own but I had no idea the rest of it that went into it. And that's that's really what rock my world week one and even into week two. It was just. It was literally five six days a week. Four to five hours a day just trying to figure it all out and get get everything. Set up a more than anything else Jimmy. I mean obviously wanted to go to all the race tracks and stuff but he really wanted this final season to be for his fans for me in my final year in a cup car like I I feel I feel more for the fans that wanted to see me at their track and experienced sat have it. I mean I I know where I am very content and fulfilled with the career. I've had ensure I want to be on track and sure I wanNA places a final time but the You know I I feel more for the fans. That aren't having that opportunity now than I than I longed for myself to experience it and to be there that makes any sense and you know and that's only a small piece in the grand scheme of things when you look at all the individuals that are affected by the current virus. The family could. It's affected your Konami. Businesses business owners. You know this. This is way bigger than than me way. Bigger than what would What what was GONNA be my my final time at these tracks? So that stuff hasn't really even cross my mind all these bring it up. There's been so many other issues at hand to think about be concerned with that I I haven't thought about about much at all being my final year. What I might be missing for myself. It's been more about others More about the fans and feeling you know what I see in my my social thread. You know I see people that are lifelong fans that That are sad. They don't get the seeming seemingly run So it's it's been about others for more than it's been about what what affect me personally. And what does Hendrick and other teams in the sport? wh- what are they able to do during the stay at home orders? There's really very little we can do. We can work on computers but Andrex been shut down for a while now There's been an agreement reached where teams aren't sending employees into work And not only from a team and ask her standpoint but obviously you know what the governor has said and with the amount of people that can gather and give them play so There's there's many reasons why not teams are working and moving forward In groups and what physically working on cars in the world of SIM In it's hard to regulate that I know that a lot of these ways we advance our cars and physically taking vehicles to wind tunnel and rigs and such Shake trigger eggs and seven post rates. That's also been banned so there's been a big effort made kind of free the sport In I know our team much like many other teams spending a lot of time on the phone trying to strategize. What to you next to wear to work? What's look at but we physically can't give go anywhere and do anything right now so I feel. We really are trees of so. It's interesting that last one. I mean the entire industry according to Jimmy Johnson has been frozen solid. That's it. They're not. They have an agreement not to do anything. It's amazing. Yeah I mean that's kind of what has to happen you've got. These teams have hundreds of employees. And when you have a stay at home order for non essential businesses this is not an essential business so regardless even if the teams wanted to circumvent things They would not be in the right in the situation so it is good to see everybody. Kind of airing on the side of caution In taking this thing very seriously I just think they could do a lot from home. I mean at least crunching numbers and wind tunnel virtual stuff and I guess they've all agreed not to do that. So interesting. Yeah I think it's the right call because you're already situation where some of the lower teams are getting hammered by this the stoppage. So they're going to really struggling when we get back. The guys they have deep pockets could get a huge leg up on things right now and I think the the best way to kind of prevent that from happening is doing what they're doing and I applaud everybody for kind of agreeing to to not try to get ahead of the thing before before we get back all right. There's been a pack show. The checkered flag is flying on this show. This has been the final AP weekly catches next week right here when we will recap the racing from Richmond Sands Dale Earnhardt Jr. for some reason and preview whatever's next because they don't want to tell us anything ahead of time so We'll have all the stories in between all EU virtual drivers out there. "It's the fucking subject. It's fucking units like they're right but it rented only liked like two songs but i was still like it's fucking day. The diet is like one of the stamina all fucking pink rock albums. It's the best game can recover. It's amazing. I mean even even if you don't like the fucking band the records fuck gene. Oh yeah yeah and that's what that's what you used to uh. Records for artworks cover would be enough the adolescence records. It's just blue red print on. Don't don't get me started the same in both. I have a fucking tattoo. I tony analyst dude. Oh yeah adolescents and descendants were mainly go to bigs. I just finished watching the descendants documentary film age so great. It's fucking fantastic. I didn't know anything about like i didn't know. I didn't know bill started that band. I didn't know that they all wrote difference. I didn't know the bill had major medical issues that lead into. I didn't know that what was it suburban home. Was he actually wanted a suburban. Oh i thought it was talking shit ironic sarcastic no he he got. He got a house any quit. The fucking what what the fuck is that most of our that you can do is go go complete opposite whatever right sitting in this fucking room with like tons of records and you're like oh he's still in the punk rock but yeah but he was just like i just want cool house and a long stereotype be classified yeah. So what do you think that anyone ever do a documentary speaking documentaries for for the richmond seen kind of like to do with the salad days. I mean there's a ton of bands that moved here like spit boy moved you've to hear against moved here like crazy fuck and bands but that's the coolest thing about richmond is that they do. We don't give a fuck about things it was. There was always a running joke between us. It's a black fucking hole sure boomerang. It is like you fuck like oh. That's a cool town. Even though you've only been here for like one night to play i show you move here and you're like god. This fucking sucks but i'm never moving away well. That's what i love about russia as well as like everybody that let's talk shit on it but but also everyone that lives here. We'll vehemently defended anybody that goes after it on my town but you're not allowed to talk so much. There's a like fierce fierce defensive richmond rather people that live here. I mean i've never seen it anywhere else that i've lived. It's this like it's a badge that you get to wear. I live in richmond and i just never got them southern california. I'm definitely not in waynesboro booking wayne's richmond. They said it but they are like i'm from a but no it's i think because the size town that we are we are growing a lot in the reason here's craft breweries holy shit rates but we are growing but we are still like the music scene has no business being as good as head for for the size town that we are not not at all and that's been consistent for how many decades forever i mean from white cross to fucking falling fort was falling. Were like the only straight edge band that i knew about and i didn't even live in richmond at time and they came up to see like i think it was youth of today are bold or side by side or some shit up in dc when we still have denoted in order virginia and i remember taylor and bo steel coming to a basement show in reston virginia and they brought like youth crews and these guys had like gardening gloves with fucking and all like oh yeah oh yeah y. Fuck it for that was normal in the streets like for any shows in richmond at the time was just like the straight traded crews. Were like oh fuck. You're not just saying your strategy are fucking in your where finished goods weren't stretch. The only one that was a strange crew is his guerrilla hato straight edge smoker known to kill. Most of them were straight edge but they were some of the it was still hato for that still try using. I used to world war like the guerrilla. The big thing for guerrilla was it was a group but if you sold out you couldn't be in guerrilla anymore right yeah.

"You would think they wouldn't think twice about tattoos that were really heavily tattooed really have to like extremely heavily tajik where yeah just a normal richmond punt going up to another city is going to be sticking out like a sore imagine what it was like in the nineties like we were touring ring and i was like it's not a big deal. I don't care if your hands up like like we go to places that. I thought were like not progressive. That's it but i mean i wouldn't stick out right like full sleeves in the nineties. I had a lot of tattoos at fucking stupid. Haircuts gauges years at goatee was no big deal here but we go to fucking austin or new york or chicago or fucking l. a. or any of these fucking big ass places and they're like what the fuck is that yeah like what the fuck are you doing doing yeah and then we could've show and be like what the fuck is that asshole do why is he does he have a guitar like what <hes> silly super crazy back then and nobody blinked data back then so even so now when it's even easier to see people. No one gives a shit who the fuck you are. That's right. That's that's quintessential richmond. Fuck about you richmond ready but it's still when you go other places. It's still a thing yeah if you go there. I'm currently working on. I only have half asleep right now but most my friends have full sleeves full blown out and like he'd be with them i can. I can see people kinda looking in. It's in it reminds me that richmond what what was it two years ago was voted third per capita to evolution of third per capita. You'd be murder now. It's better than it was las vegas and miami and richmond per capita. We were the heavily set to put them. It's give it look what we're going against miami and fucking miami miami and those are all transient cities like you go in. You lived there for a year because you wanna live in miami. You wanna live in las vegas and you go this fucking blows. It's really hot here sucks but then you come here and like you. I said it's a boomerang. People move here like fuck this place man. I'm fucking leaving and they throw the boomerang and then they come right. They say i'm never coming back to the city. They always this comeback yup yup and if they say i'm gonna move there for three months and i'm gonna come back for the summer. They never come back. Yeah there are there are the few that do escape in and it's just like but it's weird. It's like they go completely completely off the radar though yeah and won't be gone for like ten years right. They'll leave and they're like oh yeah. Fuck this place. I'll never i'll be back in six months and then like it's always something being stupid like their grandmother has cancer and they had to come back and they're like back for a couple of weeks and then they never leave. The black hole of richmond is fuzzy thinking thanks yeah it's it's a legit thing part of it too and this is also changing with the bumping population here is that richmond's on expensive place live when in comparison it yeah. It's more expensive than it used to be fisher yet for sure but it's not nearly as bad like i was looking at the cost of living in different places in like we're right on right in line with like pittsburgh as far as cost of living which is weird like thing to balance with pittsburgh. I had a blast in pittsburgh also also tour guide. I did have a tour guide from pittsburgh anti flag and then pour steel town. I'm just gonna throw but all i can think of is fucking the steelers right now. The pittsburgh penguins now plays hockey outside. It was fucking what i like dirty towns. I like dirty cities that have this kind of like lived in kind of a little bit grungy kind of tone and that's part of the reason why i love lucy in ninety four when they're cooking..
