Dallas Fuel is Making Changes

"Have had a shakeup in one of the premier teams and when I say premier teams I mean. Fan Base Wise. A lot of lot of people have been asking and looking at this for I, would say since the beginning of overwatch leak and that's The Dallas fuel have officially I think have turned the page and already to look forward to to changing things. Just in the matter of one week, they have dropped their head coach will all go order first off, they dropped a k. to came on the team for the most part. A lot of people thought he was going to be a starter. Really. Kinda he was more of a bench player when it turned out a lot of people upset saying you're wasting his talent. Blah Blah Blah. We'll came out this week. The heaters straight up stopped practicing. He didn't want to work with the team anymore. So micra fell now the C. G. O. Chief Gaming Officer operator whatever the acronym was I forget which is basically a fancy way of saying he's the top GM. Like he is now like, yes, they have a GM of the team in Tasma Oh book. I don't get it to us now. MICRA. Is He's the puppet master of the teams now under the NBA umbrella k. including empire and things like that. He's going to have the final say. So yeah for sure like he's he's going to be the top dog when it comes to making any roster decisions across all of these sports I feel like an through him ultimately, right? Right. So you have that okay, and a lot of people are upset about it. I you know. I get the frustration behind the fuel fans I get it because you came into the Overwatch League season one with you and soul dynasty were touted to be number one like. Know it was going to be one of you. We're going to be the champions of course envy was coming in with fuel use the envy roster plus a couple additional players that were only supposed to make it better. Right. They added Siegel they added ex- qc like how on Earth could it get any worse with them? Obviously, that didn't work out. So the expectations for the fuel have always been high like even though they've been one of the worst teams in the league since it started like even going into season two because they ended season one on a high note. So season to this, is it the fuel are going to change? nope not so much and it's pretty been a rinse and repeat in season three. So. When you have a player especially one that's like kind of a billboard material player saying he's refusing to practice I would have to death wish you like your are tied at that point. Yeah. You're out like there is no and if I was an owner, right if I was GM, there's like no negotiating with that, right I'm not going to be like, Oh, you don't want to practice to K-. What if we make a starting player? Then would you play pretty please which would you practice then like? You. Asked him be cut like there's not a whole lot you're going to do to convince that type of player. He's not decay is not Alan Iverson right? Like you're not that. Good. So if you were maybe the superstar of the team and you were doing everything will then hey, maybe they'll find a way to make this work not that not practicing is okay but they'll be more willing to resolve whatever the issue is. Manure. Semi contributing at this point in your a nuisance to the team, we're bringing down morale whatever it may be ultimately. That's easy decision to make. Yeah. So there's that and everyone was super pissed about it. Saying you got the you know the players aren't the problem stop stop blaming the players and although I agree to a certain extent then all of a sudden the news drop that dropped Eyraud head coach of the team. Now to me in my opinion longtime coming long-term coming, I've even mentioned it on the show that. The, the fuel were just not creative enough in a game that demands creativity you if you are following the Meta if you're just doing the cookie cutter with the top teams are doing and you're not a top team, you're not gonna all of a sudden beat them at their own game. You have to find a way to be creative and for whatever reason. The fuel just never were they made notoriously horrible in game adjustments in between map adjustments everything like that from the get-go and that was with Jane on the team right I thought it was worse with Jane when he was the assistant coach an Arrow. Look. We've met them. We know him he's a good to there's no doubt about it that he I think the players want to play for him but that doesn't defeat the fact that they weren't playing like they just bought performing and eventually the coach has to fall on that sword and Arrow just avoided that I think a little too long. They found no consistency in any way the season's right in season wind it was a a late run to a meaningless like fourth quarter Ryan. You know when you're already down by twenty one at that point there just wasn't enough there to to redeem that kind of the season one was just a shit show in general for them right from where it was supposed to be you know even last year I it just never really you know we talked about in doing changes making changes in between maps. That's something that you always kind of harped on that they did do enough right new expect you played the fuel like this is what you were going to get. In now, to see him this year, they're sitting, you know thirteen th the towards the bottom of the standings. It was a matter of time like at some point. You gotta just get a fresh look like look Arrow did really good. Would you coaching the World Cup team but he also had the five players in the world right arguello woke up team like showing up for him To, like save his job unfortunately.

Fresh update on "nba" discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix

"People were looking at the numbers and Florida. Sports folks on twitter and laughing at the NBA. Just. It was just fate accompli that this had no chance of succeeding. It was going to last two weeks. It was going to be a disaster right and that seemed like A. It would seem maybe we'll best, but it wasn't like the scorching hot take. And so I say that say this. Man, the NFL starts in five weeks. Five weeks in Corona virus is like two and a half years I. Don't know I. Really. Don't I. I. You personal example. Ten weeks ago. Things were so bad in New York City. That I rented a house in southern. California for my wife and daughters and said, listen, we'RE GONNA WE'RE GONNA risk. Polite to get you guys out there, and you guys are going to spend six weeks out there and you're gonNA come. You're going to go from the middle of June to early August. All Miss. You all try to come if I can I gotta get you guys down to the city those ten weeks ago. And and by the way it was, you're GONNA fly out of Philly because I'm afraid to have you fly out of New York City all drive to Philly, whatever it is. By the time they were leaving. Philly was worse than New York and La was worse than both place. Enjoy like I sent him from one open. To another and it's like Jesus. Christ like. There, and so I don't know the answer to it I. Know that they're gonNA try their best, and I know that it's It's understandable folks. Crushing the NFL for not having it more together because they, they were the one that had the benefit of time where I will defend the NFL is this. They like many of us. Even if we should have known better, I think did not anticipate that the United States would be arguably the single worst equipped country to handle this and I think the NFL thought we got lucky on the calendar by the time with maybe we SKIP A. Game by the time September rolls around, we're going to be like Germany. And it's like, no, we're not. And so I. Now, you can argue it's those people's jobs, not make some and do this do that. But. I, it was not. It was not. Uncommon, thought that belonged. This would be would be into June. And that it and when when the world shut down, no one was questioning will schools being in person for the following year? The question was will schools reopened this year? and. So we just as the collective. We've got I. Think just terrible leadership on a grand scale and and you're seeing this in the NBA. I know folks a lot of folks like to, and you can edit this out if you want. A Lot. A. Lot of folks. of my political leaning. Like to try to convince themselves that toxic Internet conspiracy brain is something that only affects a certain type of people are certain group of people ain't true about twenty percent of the country's got it, and they are every race, every age every political beliefs because he talked to one of these NBA players and find out what they learned on the Internet about teams and masks and Corona virus, and don't you dare at one of these press conferences as someone about five G. and microchipping, 'cause I guarantee some of these guys got takes on that too, and that is the whole country. This isn't a trumping anti-trump thing. It's the whole country unfortunately. Has Been. INFECTED BY TOXIC INTERNET? And, there is an inability for a lot of people to differentiate between. Doors current. Goodwin, book. And A facebook post. And a Ken, Burns. And something mixed on YouTube. and. Because of that. We are just not equipped as a people to agree on a set a fax to attack big problems. and. I know that's not really what you're getting at but I just I feel like it's easy to be like rob. Manfred. Roger Goodell these ducas and people are GonNa think I'm just carrying water for leagues. I'm not I. Just think it is. It is too simple to say the league's messed it up as opposed to what? I, don't even know what my kids go to school. And so I think that is maybe a bigger picture issue that is going to be some of the lasting legacy of this is. You know when we do send people back to school, do we start having classes on like how to fact, check on the Internet and like what a reputable sources and you know that and things like that? Because we are going to be in real real badge shape, the more that people. Have, the ability to decipher expert analysis and just somebody who put a quote next to a picture of someone who didn't actually say it and then they spread it on twitter. Now I I do agree with with all that and I, I, do think to. To kind of put a button on the whole bubble concepts. One thing I've learned down here is that you can put your bubble in the hottest hotspots it matter because you are effectively in a different country down here like this is technically in. Florida. It might as well be in, Vermont? Like seriously, there's no connection to the state of Florida. You do have you know Disney employees and hotel employees that are coming in and out, but they're wearing like not just masks, but they're wearing face shields like they're wearing. You know there's as protected as they can possibly be. Yours protects you possibly be from them. So I think that's part of it, and the other thing the other thing learned is is that. The reason you have to have a bubble as you can't trust players just like you can't trust people like, and I'm not saying this to say that to jump all over Lou Williams or or the cardinals players that might have been in a casino or the Miami marlins players that might have been doing whatever I probably be out at a bar. If I was, you know back home for the summer. It's summertime you WANNA, get out and do some things. The only way to make this work is to put it in the most sterile. Possible and limit the movements of the people in it, and that's the only way I think you can be sure your that you're going to have a season. That's the only way I can. I can summon up. Well, I agree I, agree thousand percent and the only if there's any saving grace since you mentioned the pay shield I heard Dr Falcone say that if you want to be totally protected, you gotTa wear goggles and you and I are around the same age we came up in an era in high school when it wasn't unknown for folks to wear those ski goggles on the top of their head is the fashion statement. If we can get to a place where everyone is just walking around in those jokes, ski goggles that people wearing champagne celebrations. That will at least be a small win in. Corona. Virus. Times. If you've seen the movie can't hardly wait look at Seth Green's character. Yeah, I, don't. Know, there's jokes to make about that and me and my high school life, but you're. Make them or you just don't know about being high school. Thank you. Have me on Mannix. You've gotTA catch Nick every morning first things first on F s one every afternoon, Sirius Xm radio. WNBA Players Wear 'Vote Warnock' Shirts Opposing Atlanta Dream Co-Owner

"Ara guys, it's crunch time here on the jump wnba players were vote wore not t shirts game this week that was in support of Rafael Warnock, who is challenging Atlanta Dream co-owner. Kelly Lafler for his US Senate seat law has of course spoken out about her position to the black lives matter movement though Kendrick, what is your reaction to the entire Wnba League banding together to support for appointment? Rachel listen they have this ten and on the front line foot the from the beginning for years affect before the NBA started before the NBA players join. Though WNBA players would the forefathers it is. They would've was that started this and it drink down. So I always applaud them and again, rates outweighs telling you please women, they don't do a lot of talk and they take X. men do a lot of talking, and then accident comes a little later. It does women. And they me business and I want to applaud the John. WNBA Greg the WNBA players and female athletes in particular have led the way on social activism from the beginning, they are not beating around the bush. They're not being polite about it. They're being direct into the point about what they want. They've already tweeted from their union account that they want her out of the League. So they're not, they're not beating around the bush. They're telling you exactly what they want and like perks says they have constantly led the way. It's absolutely their right to use their voices as American citizens, and also we ask athletes all the time to be leaders in their community to participate in initiatives that the community, and if this is something they think is going to help their community. They certainly have every opportunity to use those voices and I'm so so proud to be associated with the WNBA for the amount of the these. These women hair and that they are willing to stick their necks out. It is so impressive.

"Your Guy, you know, old Celtic friend Marcus Morris. He hasn't been great for them and I just I don't know and listen Paul. George is obviously been sensational in the very brief part of the restart and. The you know before we leave. Later today I. Don't know when this will post later today they played the sons. My guess is they'll crush them and I don't doubt the clippers ability to beat the snot out of. You Know Uh. Teams. That aren't in the top eight in the NBA like I don't question that. But I? I. You know the rockets play guys. They know exactly what those guys are and exactly what the rotation is. I also think. There's no situation outside of a lifetime fitness in two, thousand and twenty. When joke, Noah should be playing minutes. It doesn't exist like I'm sorry and so yeah I, mean I just. I am. I am skeptical as I've been throughout the year and I also do think. That the raptors reminding everyone we're bleeping. Awesome. Is. A bit of a level set on no one can deny how out of this world qui- was against the sixers and that series. That was a ninety eight out of one hundred playoff series performance and against the bucks, he was probably a ninety four out of one hundred. The nobody can take that away from him, but it wasn't quite Leonard in a bunch of dopes as a great team or an excellent team with a great coach, and so the more you see from the raptors to me the more that reminds you that that was a total team effort that did then culminating going up against a team that was just decimated by injury in the finals. And everybody knew their role on that raptors team Kyle lowry bought in and over the derozen stuff. Kind of new what their place was in the hierarchy of that team from on down Seok them to Gestalt to Fred. Van. Vliet to me. They were in sync with all. That's agree with you there. That'll be I. DO think the clippers. I think their vulnerability at least until Laker, series is very early right like I think. Could I see them getting beaten the first round? Maybe I think they're vulnerable given the. The the fact guys to working their way back into form. But I think once they get to the second round, they'll get stronger, and then we'll see in a laker series. What those those two teams look like real quick. GonNa save for the Clippers I. You know we're talking so highly on the rockets they were down seven with forty five seconds to go against Dallas and they were down eight with three minutes ago against Milwaukee. For those great comebacks, if the rockets were potentially staring at getting jumped by Dallas to me that would have been the clippers, worst nightmare would have not Langa rockets around two, but having to play him in round one like debt listen. Dallas has Luca and kristaps can do some interesting things. Size on the clippers. Dallas defense is so bad. I don't. Think, they can think it'd be very, very tough to be the clippers in the series, and that's almost assuredly going to be the first round match, but go ahead you about six. Oh No, I mean I I just. To to kind of spin it forward here at the end and I want to get your take as someone that talks about covers, all the all sports like the NBA this bubbles working right? Like they've. I be at this point. I'd be surprised if it get. If something happened in here on would I'd be surprised. I've been hearing that if the NBA if we're still in the same place in November early December, the NBA's GonNa come back with multiple bubbles. Next year I think they're not going to roll the dice and travel the country and play an empty arenas they are going to operate in regional bubbles. At least until they get some kind of all clear as you look at what the other sports are doing. Is it as simple as bubbles on the only things that can work or do you believe that what it comes to football college and pro baseball the rest of the season that they can successfully. pull a year in the middle of a pandemic without utilizing a bubble. So two things, one is I, do not think the NBA can do a bubble. and. That's because I don't think you can ask these guys for six months to be away from their families. No, it's to be clear just to clarify. It's what they're talking about doing now is one month in a bubble two weeks off. And basically play games in at least a lot of games early in a bubble, and then you get out of the bubble, then you go back into a bubble. So it's kind of like intermittent as you as you beg us. That's interesting. This is not feasible doing this for thirty teams for six dollars is not the and like it's so funny how and this kind of spending your next question? So The KOVIN WORLD Everything. We think is very often the opposite of what strip trip. So when Corona virus happens not when it happens, but when the NBA? I looked at a calendar house like my God. Like the NBA just got so unlucky baseball. So fortunate, they haven't quite started. They'll be able to figure it out. Football. Got Luckier than anybody can imagine by the time. They're season's going. You know we we'll have this totally under control in the NBA might not even have a champion this. and. It turned out NBA was. Lucky. And the most equipped for it, but because they were so late in the season, they could do this. They could say listen guys. Here's the deal. For a lot of you guys, it's going to be a six week commitment, and for those of you that it's going to be an eight to ten week commitment. You'RE GONNA. Be Compete Burr Championship. You're only going to be here of super long time if you are really competing for a title and guys bought in for the most part and work. So I. I think that's instructed their thing I. Think's instructive as far as making any predictions. This is..

WNBA players urge people to vote against team owner, senator

"W. NBA. Stars are openly endorsing Kelly Leffler opponent in her Georgia sit race despite her ownership stake in one of the teams, leagues. W Now? No No, no. No they're not supporting Ralph warnock Nah I'm sorry Doug Collins No. That's Boring College Board Ralph. WARNOCK WNBA. Cathy Engelbert to ban Leffler from the League after her comments against the black lives matters group. You know she. She's writing this. HELP INNER Players across the WNBA have long been vocal opponents of Senator Kelly Leffler Georgia. Republican who also happens to Cole the League's Atlanta Franchise. But as the special election for Leffler appointed senatorial seats up stars are using their platform to explicitly rebel against the controversial politician prior to Tuesday nights matchup between the Phoenix Mercury and the Atlanta Dream members of both teams express support. "Should start? Gaming their schedule and by that I mean. I think it is in their best interest. to because everything that people save Portland could present problems for the Lakers. That's why Houston really good because. Russell. Hardener Damon CJ, and they do have something guard Lebron they. So, what I'm saying is the Lakers play the thunder than the rockets on a back to back. I think that they should absolutely rest against the rocks everybody because they want the rockets to win that game, they want the rockets to move up to the three line. They play the nuggets. They should absolutely play treat that like a playoff warm up and try and try to knock nuggets down to the four liner five line, and if for some reason, if the kings have some chance of making the play in that too they play in the final game of the year and that Game Jared Dudley needs play forty, eight minutes, no pence for Jerry. But like. Shots up man like. The you know I've been very critical of load management. But I do think that once you clinched your seat, the number one seed, and because there is no homecourt, they don't have to chase milwaukee. That's meaningless. You know, I do think that you do get a little extra boost by having. Like. Your fake fans there. I. Do feel like you can feel the momentum of the sounds of. The, you can deal with that I don't feel quite. You don't feel quite as much in the arena. I think it comes across more it just on TV. But I do think that they should be very strategic win and how they rest their guys because now they've clinched the one seed. Now, just about the best path to a championship and I, do think that means. They can beat the rockets, but they would sure as hell prefer to only after play to me one of Clippers rockets as opposed to. Consecutively. Clippers rockets. Yet kind of a throwaway line in that answer about Hardman. Westbrook better than Damon mccollum. Maybe I agree with you, but it's razor thin in my mind at least this year man Lillard is a top five. And Be People here this year. Oh, I. Yeah. So I I. I. I saw a lot of people say that that Lillard top-five Mvp I. think that's insanity. Italy. Yeah I, mean listen man I. Understand. You didn't have your big men but you're nine nine games under five hundred. And you played almost all year and CJ. was there like stop it? Was Great. Statistically, it was maybe his best season, but that's too. That's to me. It's a, it's a bridge too far. The DAME MVP stuff. I don't have a real ballot. You guys because the NBA I. Don't know why it's really. It's. It's really one of the saddest parts of my life is that I fill out and spend all this time filling out ballot and it's fake ballot I send it to the NBA Certified Mail, they send it back to me. It's salting both things really sad for me but. I thought dame. You could make a strong argument. Dame was third team all NBA and I see like. I just. I. I think that hard Russ are cl-. I think harden is a tier above dame and I know Russ is at tier above CG. So to me, it's not that close. I mean I, I, go like, Damian. has become one of those guys. And maybe it was this way last year that can win games by himself like end of games can just take over and beat you I mean, oh, no doubt. I mean I don't mean to you know to bring Boston to this essay Marcus smart is an NBA defender with his first or second team. He's all NBA and Damian Lillard in the fourth quarter of that game with smart on him was dominated. He pulled the blazers back into it if not for a godawful use of Norwich pass at the end. They might have won that game and pulled out a game. They had no business winning at the enemy and he's just one of those few guys men that. That fourth quarter situations, there's very few players in the league that are more feared than Damian low I, agree with you on that entirely i. just think you know so. Can I tell you my fake ballot I'm going to? Have to be the MVP. I, there was a world where Lebron could've caught him. You Know Janas, who's going to miss time. The Lakers had just beat the clippers in the box, but that world did exist. So Yang meeting MVP and Lebron has to be sick. And A, if you if someone makes the case for the broncos MVP, it's fine but I. To me, it's pretty clear now, I also think and tell me if you agree. No. One else should get a second-place vote. Those have to be your top two. There are there's a tear, there's a tear their. It's those two and I agree with you. There's not any kind of case that you can make in a shortened season that Lebron. Should. Be. MVP. Too good in every possible category. But after that, it should honestly be honest with ninety percent of the first place votes and Lebron would not percent of the second place votes and the other ten first place for him. Exactly. Right. They used. So we're on the same page there. Then it gets really complicated. And I thought. That the person I put third more, people were going to have maybe not third, but certainly top five and people were shocked by it I put Chris Paul Third. And I had hardened him Luca as four and five or five and four. I don't remember. Now I had hardened, Lucas my first team guards and Chris Paul's my second team guard because I. Look at all MBA more about like statistical dominance as long as the team is relatively good an MVP. I've found with Chris, Paul, even though he blew the game yet initiative boot game, but he missed the free throw against the nuggets that cost me money and it was just a disaster aid under twenty minutes. I had under two twenty that game is going to end one, ten, one, zero,.

"Everyone kills Jr. for the you know forgetting the score in two thousand eighteen. But he was a big contributor in those finals and twenty eight team. We know when I know it's four years ago. He hit massive shots in game seven of the finals and sixteen. So the moment won't be too big for him the note. I am bullish on this. Sorry. For Filibustering Bit I. Think Coups Mma. The issue with Kuzma I believe is he hasn't been paid. and. When any young player hasn't been paid, they WANNA get their numbers in the regular season. So in fault, he hasn't Abadia it's not assigned to get paid yet. I think he's smart enough to realize in the postseason. It's not about my numbers if we win a title aid. Regardless of of my scoring I, feel like he's tried harder on defense, he's cut down some of the bad. And the other thing is listen a series might come down to is Danny Green hotter cold because Danny Green is getting is GonNa, get open shots. Lebron's going to get into the perfect position and he's got a knock them down, and so you know with the cavs in his second stint Korver was really really great in the playoffs until Finals Games in which case he was horrible Danny. Green has been awesome NBA finals in the best, but the like Kuzma could be the The, most important third piece here makes me a little anxious, but I think he's played better in the bubble that he was playing during the regular season. I. Think. You're right about Danny Green and him making open shots because there will be open shots, and if he shoots a high percentage Lakers going to be impossible to stop offensively throughout this is. I'm sorry real quick on just one thing on Danny Green Open shots. I. Eat I know everyone's on the Lakers. Clippers. But whether it happens or not Lakers, get through it, I believe Milwaukee's waiting on the other side and Milwaukee is going to just going to give you threes they gonNA, say you're GonNa have to hit threes and Danny Green is going to be a huge piece of if they can beat a walking because Milwaukee is not going to give you anything easier I. Know. They're not Milwaukee. I mean I understand that's a defensive philosophy and I was at the game against the rockets where. They turned giving up open threes into an art form I. Mean it was like the rockets. Attempted Sixty, one threes in that, I would argue that fifty of them were open and they're all. Off Russell, Westbrook, driving kicks or James Harden driving. Kicks. That's dangerous philosophy man. That's a dangerous thing to do in this league. I mean I guess you know I thought coming in that. Maybe the shooting percentage would be lower because of the rust factor, but there are teams out there shooting the lights out of the ball and the rockets. They weren't happy with what they shot in that game. But they still may twenty one of those threes, which is right around thirty, four, thirty, five percents off the clippers in a game against New Orleans shut the lights out against the Pelicans if your banking on. Giving up open threes being okay. I mean I. I question that that defensively I questioned that philosophy at least when it comes to winning a championship, I'm not sure you can win a championship if you're going to give up that many open threes. Listen I think Milwaukee. A I think Milwaukee's got a few legitimate concerns and one of them is this man. I looked this up and so I I? This is a random thing. So How many games this year? Do you think John is played more than thirty six minutes? Very few. The answers twice. For context. So that puts him one hundred and twenty first in. Dame did it forty two times Lebron? WHO's in your seventeen? Did it twenty something? Guy. Who I'm not certain enjoys playing basketball, did it nine times and so and so there is a. And now people are like, well, it's that they're blowing everyone out a-. Well, he's still average thirty points faranoff. The Rockets Game Janas was thirty, six, eighteen, and eight. He was unbelievable. Other close game drowning. Played, thirty two minutes. I sail out to say this. You. Got To ramp up his minutes. He's GonNa. Have to the East is not going to be a cakewalk. He's GonNa have to be able to play some forty minute gangs and I don't think you can just even though he clearly is healthy enough and strong enough has the in great shape, all the stuff I'd only you can go from being a guy that runs the four hundred to be the world record order in order to be like, Hey, just run the eight hundred like I do think you've got a ramp that up a bit and. And I think that also Milwaukee can be a victim Milwaukee does. I know other people have said this, they do remind me a bit. Of those nine ot or oaten two, thousand, nine, thousand and ten cats, which are they kick your head in. So you don't have to play close games. They have a player who is just a statistically speaking head and shoulders better than everyone else. But similar to two, thousand, nine, thousand, ten Lebron. Doesn't necessarily have the greatest. Goto to move at the end of close games. Now, at least Lebron would take threes. Jaanus takes threes, but I think, Oh, nine, ten, Lebron was a better jump shooter than the honest, but it's to Milwaukee, is not invincible and they're not even invincible. I thought. They were I. said in January. I didn't think they face a game six in the East? I no longer feel that way. I found very interesting to see how they and frankly other teams defend Russell Westbrook. I mean, Houston's one of the wildest wildcards that are out there. But if you go back to two February and when the jazz played them and you remember this when Utah Stuck Vertigo, bear on him on West and just dared Westbrook to beat them with mid range jump shots that he put up a huge number in that game, but it was a smart philosophy because. I would. If I'm defending Houston, I would live with eighteen footers. Russell. Westbrook all day long if Russell wants to beat you from fifteen to eighteen feature in that game. I would live with that. I can't live with is Russell just carving up Dante even Kenzo Zo and George Hill, and kicking it out open three point shooters who are good. Three point shooters having Brook Lopez have to collapse of PJ Tucker was a disaster for the bucks I mean like I don't know how you feel about the rockets and their chances to do anything, but if teams continue to defend. Defend them like that. They've got a shot because they can put runs on. You know team in the NBA. Right now, here's writing of the rockets. I..

Mastering Money With the Budgetnista

"So. Tiffany. Let's start with your personal story. So we're currently in third recession of the century. But I'm guessing that you're doing just fine partially at least because of the lessons you learned during the last recession to tell us a little bit about your history, what the last recession was like for you and what has happened since then. Now. Certainly The last question caught me off guard i. Was Not prepared. I because quite honestly I was a schoolteacher and you know I was pretty confident. I'm like, I don't know that schoolteachers lose their jobs because you know we are essential workers, and now yet here we are back again. But Yeah I was a schoolteacher and I didn't move my job actually in two, thousand, eight when so many of my friends did but I let I lost it at the tail end of two, thousand nine. So it really took me by surprise but. Up until like I would say, twenty, five, twenty, six, I was what I called financially. Perfect. I grew up in a household. Money was talked about wasn't scared of talking about finances. Might author was a CFO OF A small nonprofit? He also had his NBA in economics, his his a in finance. My mom was a nurse and we literally used to have money meeting so. I. Didn't grow up with the angst that most people did. So by the time, I was twenty five even though. I was teaching preschool wasn't making much. I think I was making like forty thousand dollars a year By the time I was twenty, five ahead. Forty thousand saved bought a Condo I. I had an ADL to I. Think Credit Score at didn't have any credit card debt. I paid off like my parents helped with my undergrad degree plus. I commuted. So what I did haven't stood alone. I was able to pay that off a few years after school. So financially perfect like okay. So I honestly couldn't relate although I was helping my friends with their budgets savings and things like that. I couldn't relate to the mistakes because I had not yet need them but I was going to then. When I was twenty six, I went on to get my masters in education and I was like, okay. So you now you went from no debt to a mortgage, not so bad. I had a a you know student loans because my master's not so bad. But by twenty six, I said, okay. Now, I'm ready to learn to invest and instead of asking my father who has literally two degrees in years of experience I'm GonNa ask a friend of mine. and. So I asked a friend of mine who appeared to be independently wealthy because he had like a really nice car. and. Like a like a fancy apartment he's well I think Spurs. You have to learn to invest with other people's money at. My money. So what he postulated as is that. Do, you have credit card said, yes. But I paid off in full every month because as instructed by my father, he was like well, did you know you could pull money off a credit card? I, did not know that. So he said not only can you pull off one? You could pull it off to I was like double the mistake. Let's do it. So I pulled off twenty thousand dollars off of my credit cards and I went to invest with him what's to say? That didn't happen I. ENDED UP Thirty, five thousand dollars in credit card debt when I didn't have credit card debt prior and I just remember thinking a first year. I said didn't want to take responsibility for the mistake that I made I did not tell my dad or my mom. But I pay just a minimum because I said, you know what? He's going to come back or he's GonNa. Take care of this because it's not my fault of Ansel from age twenty seven I didn't do anything. Well, twenty, seven night out the money twenty eight, just pay the maximum finally twenty nine, I said all right I'm GONNA pay off this debt just going to buckle down I live pretty frequently anyway, and then twenty nine is when I lost my job. So. Now, I've got a mortgage student loan credit card debt and I was like, okay, I don't know what to do. I've never been in the situation. So. Fallon to this light dark hole of like spiral like because I'm twenty nine going on thirty I've lost everything as far as I can tales financially. So I ended up moving back home with my parents without telling them why they knew it was the recession obviously, and they also knew I lost my job, but they didn't know. ABOUT CREDIT CARD DEBT Live with them for year than I. Am I live with my sister on her couch for year, try to figure out my life because back. Then now we're getting the six hundred dollars a week on our stimulus stimulus check. But what was happening then as they just extended unemployment typically, you can get unemployment for up to a year. They extended to two years. So I said, okay, you have two years to. To figure out what are you going to do with your life I was afraid to go back to work for someone because I thought it, you can lose a job as a preschool teacher essential. Then that's not safe. What could be safe? So I tried a bunch of different things I tried on party promoting party planning I volunteered everywhere I can think of, but while doing so I was helping my friends. But save get out of debt all these things in one day. My friend said, you should turn that into a business and I'm like you. Now I had gone to school my bachelor's degrees in business, but I hadn't used it. And so I, tried to charge people one on one. Only to find the people that you're actually helping with your budget. The reason why they hired us because they don't have any money. So that was a bad business. So I, switched my business model to one too few and I worked on getting contracts and I got my first contract with the United, way? And I rose excited 'cause they were going to pay me I think like. Three, or four, hundred dollars a class and I had a six week course that I'd written. For them, and so I did, and that was like my first. Okay. Maybe I can really make a run at this My little sister gave me the nickname, the budget. So that became because she said like, I'm not like the fashion. Easter. Who is really fashionable, but I am very cheap so

"We actually went to Walmart the other day. And we just Austin ran into China, walk without a mess and I'm like, what do you need doing? Just do it just where the? The stop them at the door give him a mass. Just where your mass to. Say. About that process. But my point, I'm trying to say some timeout the NFL. The NFL has pushed the opt out period to Thursday at four PM. Now, it was obvious. It was actually a pushed up to Tuesday or Wednesday. And then according from, Patriots, came out and said. Privilege called the NFL rushing us to do this. This is the thing. The NFL is a business. Okay. The NFL is just trying to figure out who is it? WHO's not? And I'm less and I get when this first came out I'm thinking myself. What the heck is the NFL doing they are making these guys decide. Obviously there's been so many players show fight about deller forty, three, forty, five players have opted out of the season so far eight from the New England patriots. So I, understand what according to saying, why forcing us to do this Today. This is business. A have guidelines in place at the facilities at the buildings that were at the compounds to make sure. Obviously his name, his opinion can carry a lot of weight. For other players. But there are still plays out there saying forget it. I'm not GONNA do it. And now with the deadline? At four PM. Is Actually what I'm very curious about. What. Happens if someone does after the this deadline do they face? Permits. Do they actually just say we're not GONNA pay your one fifty. Is that what happens? As of right now, I'm not seeing anything on there.

Orlando Magic's Jonathan Isaac explains why he didn't take knee or wear Black Lives Matter shirt Friday

"We had an incredible opening weekend of games name a star level player that player delivered at least once if not twice over the first three or four nights of the NBA's restart here in Orlando, we had crazy comeback wins. By the Houston Rockets, we had a dominant performance by. Jaanus over some little pesky pip squeak team from New England I forget who they might be. We got Marcus smart got fined for trying to work the officials. We've got storylines upon story lines. The clippers bounce back from their loss to the Lakers. Looking excellent and just throttling the New Orleans Pelicans. There's so many different directions that we can go Michael that I decided. Here's what we're GONNA do opening weekend heaters we're GONNA have just open ended questions are we're going to ping pong back and forth you give me your answers I'm going to give you my answers to these questions and try to cover as much ground as possible before we get there though I do want to double back quickly on the national anthem demonstrations that we touched on last episode, we got so many thoughtful emails from various members of the open floor globe on this subject, but I think there was a major development after we spoke on Friday. and. That involve Jonathan Isaac Meyers. Leonard Gregg Popovich Becky Hammon and one of the NBA referees all deciding to not kneel to not really participate in what had been in unified demonstration on Thursday. All of those people who chose to stand were obviously doing it on principle and they were doing it knowing there was going to be a lot of attention their direction. Now, if you look at Popovich amend the referee essentially, they were trying to just say, Hey, I support the the Social Justice Movement it's it's a private or personal decision for the referee said look I it's important to me to stand Meyers Leonard made a similar comment. Essentially. Saying that his brothers military service in the in the military service of close people in his life led him to WanNa stand to salute the flag. But within Isaac was a slightly different case and he actually used this entire demonstration opportunity to almost have a one man demonstration of his own. In his belief, the idea of the black lives matters movement quote unquote doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. He also said that you know we shouldn't be necessarily judging things solely based on skin color that we should be trying to live a life basically you know in God's mold and try to live up to his standard, and that Jesus Christ was his personal savior and and that he wanted everyone to focus on that. Aspect of of living rather than the particular issue that was being brought forward with the black lives matter movement by the players he didn't really get any major pushback. Within the NBA Community people respected his right to make a stand. He actually not only did he stand during the national anthem? He didn't wear a black lives matter t shirt which many people notice because he was essentially the only player not to do that his whole personal story Michael took a crazy twist over the weekend and sad twist when he wound up tearing his ACL injury that's going to end his time here in Orlando obviously but also could cost him all of next season. So now talk about a whirlwind seventy, two hours for player who generated millions of us with his comments about the protests. I'm curious. Let's start with Jonathan Isaac. What did you make of his decision? After we've seen things settle in the last couple of days You know maybe it doesn't seem quite as Eye Opening as it did at that moment, but I'll admit I was I was surprised to see given the buy in from everybody on opening night. Right, I mean I just WanNa Start and say that it it really really is a bummer to see anyone get injured but particularly is ICK who was already on restriction he was already playing with a humongous brace on his leg from a previous injury that cost him a majority of this regular season before it was suspended. So I just I feel for him greatly. I I think generally speaking. The coverage of who stands in who sits I mean we talked about this heading in anticipated it I. Think I think the coverage is generally besides the point and it doesn't really get the point I feel like people are using. This as an opportunity to shame those who are standing in a little bit I mean Meyers Leonard. said, he couldn't sleep before he made the decision to stand and that's just like not. The whole focus or the point here right like. You can obviously Support Black lives and also stand for the national anthem. It is a symbolic gesture that is what it is in the case of Isaac. I really had a difficult time understanding even what his message was until you interpreted it the way that you did I mean I watched the clip of Him Multiple Times survey there I'm GonNa just GonNa read what he said I and then we can use that as a jumping off point because I don't WanNa torture what he said earlier and I might have done that. So sorry for that. He says quote absolutely I believe that black lives matter kneeling while wearing a black lives matter t shirt doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. I. Don't think kneeling or putting on a T. shirt for me personally is the answer i. Feel like for me, black lives are supported through the Gospel. All lives are supported through the Gospel. We all have things that we do wrong. Sometimes, it gets into a place of pointing fingers. We all fall short of God's glory whoever will humble themselves and seek God and repent of their sins. We can see our mistakes and people's mistakes and evil in a different light. Racism isn't the only thing that flags our society, our nation and our world, and he basically said he wanted this conversation to get out of the realm of skin color because the answer to all of our problems in everything that goes on in our world is Jesus. So. when I watched the clip. I'll I'll be honest. I was a little confused where he was going to after typing it all out trying to marinate on what he was saying I think he essentially wanted to have a demonstration on behalf of his religious beliefs and that this was an opportunity for him to say look you know focusing only on one particular group I. Guess in his view, the black lives matter group and you know everybody wearing a t-shirt doesn't necessarily achieve the wider goal which would be presumably healthy living. You know honest living you know Living which to him as a higher priority I think that's where he was going with his statements.

You Dont Exist. But You Actually Do

"In this episode, we're going to take a simple useful down to earth stroll through one of the most confounding liberating concepts in Buddhism. On. The one hand. Buddhists. Tell us the self is an illusion. You don't exist. On the other hand they tell us well, actually on some level you do, of course exist. So which is it? The answer this frustrating the answer is both. But this concept which is called not self selflessness Igla snus or emptiness. This concept does not have to be some hopelessly esoteric riddle. It is actually a game changer that we can all apply in our own lives. Here to tell us how to do that. Guy, Armstrong, who has been a meditation teacher in insight tradition for decades, he's written a book called emptiness. He is the husband of Sally Armstrong who appeared on the show just a few weeks ago. I. Actually conducted the interviews back to back last fall. But. Even though this was recorded before the record events twenty, twenty, the concepts here in our I, assure you. Perennially us. So here we go with Armstrong. Well, nice to see you again, thanks for coming on Nice to see you Dan. So the latest die back into your. biography, just a little bit. What was it about back in the seventies about meditation? No. What was it about your life that the practice of meditation and the? Teachings of the Buddha, such a big deal for you that you actually. You. Had Gone to a fancy college if I recall rice in Houston and you've worked in Silicon Valley and you were teaching at a alternative school in Palo. Alto. You basically put all that to the side and became, as you said, a Dermot Bum. Why? Well, it was two things I'd had a long standing interest in Buddhism. Really from my college days, it just spoke to me philosophically in a way that no other system ever had. There was a depth of precision and accuracy the really resonated with me, and the second thing was I was not very happy in my life at that time, I came out of the sixties and my life was really unsettled and I I did a little too much of all the things that people did too much of the sixties. Victor. and. So I was still trying to put my life back together and I never felt invested in the worldly things that I was engaged in. So this Dharma practice came along and I remember sitting on my first retreat. And I reached into a level of stillness of mind that I had never felt before. and. I think what struck me at that time? Was the basic. You could call it in this. You could call it space that meditation. In my mind I felt anything is possible in this place. So looking back now on that experience, what I tapped into was the basic emptiness or you know more congenial word is openness. Of Our mind, our basic situation I saw anything was possible. And I. I must admit I was really drawn by the concept of enlightenment. But there could be transformative moments of insight that would change your life forever you know in a positive way. said two things in there. I WANNA follow up on. We say anything is possible. Do you mean you could play for the NBA? You could learn how to fly. What do you mean when you say I, don't suspect you do to what do you mean exactly when you say anything is possible in that space by meant that the mind could be. Shaped or formed in any direction one wanted I just saw this vast potential of the space in the mind that was revealed through that stillness. And I knew that any degree of suffering that had come into my life didn't need to be there.

NBA teams kneel during national anthem as season restarts

"Night, the embassy isn't got underway. And of course, there was a lot of attention being brought to what would happen during the national anthem. There were two games last night, and everybody kneels every single player, every single coach, even the officials. They all take a knee for solidarity with the national anthem. So I was curious as to what the broadcasters of the game on TNT, Shaquille O'Neal and Charles Barkley had to say, kind of surprising, actually, listen to Charles Barkley's response here. You're going to hear from shack first and then Charles Barkley type of God. They say you should do is you should do that. Everyone has their own platform. You know they're on their own brand. Bro Athletes for recovery for today's show, we've invited highs founder and CEO. Anthony, cats hi FIS has been one of the leaders in the field is known for its iconic products such as the hype vote massage gone the Viper vibrating foam roller as well as the compression sleeves their products have. been used early on by NBA stop there such as Lebron James and the late Kobe. Bryant and today there aren't they use by pros and all the major us. Leaks the English premier league as well as Olympic athletes. We chat more about how he first got started with icebox neoprene and also take a deeper dive into the science and also some of the best practices behind some of these recovery methods and devices. Hi Anthony I'm excited to have you on the show today. Can you tell us a little bit more about yourself to kick things off? Yeah. So my name's anthony cats on founder pipe price. I founded the company about ten years ago it started out really just as an arm project like I was before this I worked in education was a high school teacher I was married to professional. Athletes and I was still really active and I still play sports and was sort of looking for ways to improve my body and sort of slow the aging process and I started my by started kinda get more soar after do things and you kind of start to see like the wear and tear you know grown up in the in the Dark Ages fitness in the ninety S. People used to basically do bodybuilding it wasn't very functional and that control my body in in. So I start looking at like, what would it winter pro athletes doing? You know because obviously they put the biggest premium on. Their bodies and sort of the new kind of things if there was anything new that they were doing that I can adopt and when I did sort of the research on, it was funny like the word recovery didn't really even a quiet sports like that. We use it now and there's a category now but they're back then. You know recovery meant like alcohol recovery or something you know. It didn't mean the same and so the industry was really dominated by like sort of these like medical device companies that would make products that would live in athletic training room for in professional sports and mostly what guys were doing for like you know just. To recover faster faster was was ice was ice tubs. Getting, getting a cold tubs and then, and then they were icing their joints and then if you getting a massage in athletes paper massage and stuff, and that was kind of that was kind of what the recovery will look like in two, thousand ten and so I figured okay well, you know if you can't really market a cold tub but athletes are icing their joints every day and they were doing it with plastic bags and ace route or Fight in every single day. Yeah. It's really wasteful and just like you know it's just not really convenient leaks in you know Dallas is kind of what they were doing. So it Kinda struck me and around this time two, thousand ten. So beats by DRE was relatively new. You know they debuted at the two thousand, eight Olympics and the Osa basketball guys were wearing them kind of adopted this idea that you if someone wearing something right and you know if I could make something that was good enough for like pro athletes to wear that people would see it on them and because it's on their body because it would be like wearing potentially like wearing them, you know on the sidelines or Photos, in your starting, it was Kinda before instagram. So it wasn't really the access to like the behind the scenes of what these guys do is not really the same level of now because I feel now we have a much better window into what what sort of the athletes are famous people do in their you know when the camera's not on. This kind of struck me. If there was a documentary called the last dance about Michael Jordan and it was showing how different famous then where he was the most famous person in the world and he'd get off the team bus and they would just be like a thousand people waiting at the hotel just like watch him walk in the door and we don't need to do that anymore because now everyone has we see what people do in the cameras. And we have twitter, right? Yeah and so people and and then there's way more content right? So there's just way more content of like, okay. What is sort of what is an athlete? Do? They're not court in got used to be pretty mysterious people in an intriguing so I figured that if I could make an icing product because athletes have to is every day people see maybe what sort of kind of catch on A in obviously not a school would beat because it's music that's universal but I still felt like young athletes might adopt it. So I had the idea to make like a really cool looking is compression device, and so I started researching therapy. The. Compression was import element of it and I had. A friend of mine who's a college basketball coach was regularly working out with Kobe Bryant and in Kobe was known as the biggest like that. He he is more than anybody and there was articles well-documented about how he really took care of his body. So I thought if I could make a prototype and I could show it to him and maybe you know maybe get into weirder sort of my thinking and I showed it to them I. so I literally was cutting up wetsuits and going into like wetsuit factory's GonNa live in a beach community southern California. So like there's some of the old Lexi factories that are still around back then so I was kinda compression sleeves and then taking ice bags from like you know from like rite aid or whatever, and and and just kind of like putting them together these compression sleeves. Trying to make something and you know he was really receptive to the idea that there could be a product that would make more efficient and it would actually look not just be so wasteful. So I a couple times in he kind of gave me some really good criticism that was constructive and what I realized like this can't be an art project like this is not how businesses have to like if I'm. GonNa do what I gotta do it. Right. So I gotta go get like. So I was calling manufacturing companies and it was during the recession and people weren't really interested in talking about no experience at all and just sort of this but one company believed like, okay. I kind of had proved that I was like interacting with Koby in the disciplinary doing for him and they kind of just took a flyer on. Maybe we'll try helping sort of developed sort of come the extra separable and so took about a year I. Got I, finally convinced him to do it. We took about a year to kind of develop the product properly I had the idea to put an air release valve at is bag because when ice melts, it creates like air pocket in compression doesn't work because it blocks a compression. So if You have a button that releases the air. The compression always makes contact with the ice and then you get your eyes compression therapy and that's that's the whole idea behind it was that I would watch guys ice and then I would see these like there's a big air bubbles forum. It's like because the heat from your body is exchanging with the ice and then that creates natural gas, which is A. Form of like air and

"I'm trying to make a little bit of a joke out of this, but I I'm a little worried about a man. I don't know if this is entirely healthy. I understand why they did it and I don't mean healthy from a safety standpoint. I just mean like from an ethical standpoint. I've already noticed that ESPN has put disclaimers at the bottom of their calms. I think that's excellent I hope that continues I think that's a nice first step. Most people don't care about that, but I think it is important. And I also worry about the access side because we know that. ESPN. TNT is going to have to have a lot of talent. On hand to cover these things just whether it's sideline, reporters or broadcasters or everything else. And how available will it be for outside? Independent media to be able to live in the bubble isn't even going to be an option. How much is it? GonNa cost. We'll be cost prohibitive to their media organizations, and then how much oversight will be from third? Parties. It's an issue that I was concerned about actually during during the whole China fiasco with Hong Kong last year with the NBA just started to basically shut down. Not have a media access periods. Players look this is. A one time thing in the NBA Kinda swore would never happen again, and then the coronavirus hits, and the NBA kicks in media out of the locker room, and on that one I totally understood I thought it made sense from a social distancing standpoint, but you know I'm just worried about this trend here and I hope that there is an effort to keep. The balance of independent voices within whatever the media sphere is of these playoffs, because you're alternately like we could be going forward into next season, needing to use a bubble to, and we don't want a situation where the only stories that are being told about the league for like eighteen months are stories that are being told by you know. Media partners with clear conflicts of interest I think that would be very damaging to the overall presentation of the sport and just to the. To the average viewers experience I realized that not very many people probably care about this stuff nearly as much as I do, but I do think it's important. I could not agree with you more and. In a time where? The possibility of something, not I don't to say nefarious something wrong happening the tries to get covered up or gleaned over is higher than it would normally be would want. You know you would want ethical journalism, and you would not want a conflict of interest that is so blatant to be covering. The event, so you know I. Could you know I? Don't want to like Belabor this point, but let's say you know someone like a let's say. A star gets coronavirus and. They somehow or whatever decide to instead of benching Lebron James or Anthony Davis for seven days and quarantining them and risking the Lakers not going to the championship, or whatever they just kind of sweeping under the rug and don't tell anybody, and no one asks the right questions, and then you get the soul controversy, so I'm not saying that that would ever happen, but it. It's a possibility that would not otherwise exist. No doubt no doubt hopefully never comes to that. I actually trust the NBA's. Integrity on that. Front I did too yeah when it comes to the the testing, but I would also love the NBA to release their entire testing protocol here as soon as possible so that we can kind of hold it up to independent medical scrutiny, so the players can. Hear all about it from a source. That's not just the NBA itself, and that know everybody would probably feel more comfortable after that takes place. And I think you know that's another situation where I feel like we're kind of banging that. Drum ourselves as independent media people because you know the the League's partners obviously have a motivation there to to not do so to you know just kind of go along and get along with the League. All right two more quick wants to this thing out Michael. How many owners do you think are going to be in the bubble? Obviously going to be a real imposition on their normal lifestyle of private jets and helicopters and everything else so we'll. Any of the owners submitted the bubble. Do any candidates who are like the most likely in the least likely to join the bubble. So starting with most likely I've got five, and it was actually very difficult to get to five. They are Steve Bomber. Mark Cuban clear number one into you're doing great. Yeah, that was very obvious. They're the most front facing owners in the league. And then I went I went genius number three. obviously the Lakers. Mark Lazarie of the bucks just because I feel like. You know he does interviews. He's a pretty. He's not the most famous owner. But he's the owner or part owner of a championship favourite I would assume that he would want to be a part of it. Associated himself with it, and then those were like the top four that I had, and then for number five just said Wick Gross BEC because he's a relatively young owner, and he's owner of the Boston. Celtics and they're pretty good team so. For a second there I thought you were saying he's one of your relatives as part of Boston Celtics. And I was like wait a minute Michael. What are you saying here? Well I think that the right answer is to. I think we maybe could see like Lazarie or maybe genie come for the finals like at towards the end of it. If there's a situation where maybe you could be awarded trophy, but I don't feel like either. One of them is going to be devoting two months of their life to this like I. think that there's only really two guys who might be there for the whole long haul, and it would be bomber in Cuban. I also don't think I. don't even think those two would be there for the long haul. Think that they'll make routine appearances I. Guess Cuban could conceivably be there for the whole thing because his team will probably not be there very long right right well. Here's the problem with the routine appearances. Though that's not how bubbles work right like you. Get in the bubble. You can't just pop back out of the bubble, so yeah, maybe there will be some strategizing to you know if you're a bomb or you say all come after the first round and stay for the rest of the way if you're Cuban, you say I'll show up right at the beginning because we're going to be out possibly in the first month. But I think it's just an interesting dynamic. I ask a question because the optics factor. It's like we're kind of sending all these players often into this bubble, and there's this health risk, and meanwhile the owners are sitting back, saying I'll just stay at home. Tell us tell us how it goes. I'll be watching on TV. It's a little weird. You know and I also think on that same standpoint. It would be good for Adam silver to be visible at this thing and to be in attendance. I think that would go a long way to. Projecting the right image about NBA involvement. And so from that standpoint. You know I think it's something to consider. Like we heard over the weekend, what what did Biden say? Oh, yeah, you know Obama. Never went down in the bunker. He said he'd stay up with the people and send me down to the bunker if there was ever situation there's something to that this idea that we're all in it together and that..

Even they had had some level of self control the whole thing Go off some Bucks Games. Please goodness sakes let me just say. This is a good opportunity. You people don't know what you're watching. Oh come on. You don't Know Kevin. You don't know what you don't know what you're watching sh you know. There's four great defenders in front of the guy and he never comes out from the basket. Doing stand around the basket. This is I was just ashamed to be got drafted second. You trick the world into thinking you're amazing defender. Like College basketball. You just set the guy in front of the basket play over a decade in the NBA over a decade and he suddenly became Bill Russell. Or maybe it's the system you'd make me mad. I knew you'd make me mad before this is over. I was just trying to make a friendly suggestion. Well now we'll have at least three weeks for people to write Lebron. Mvp articles can go back and do that. It's going to be very interesting over the next couple of weeks. Kevin Suras man stay safe everybody. I don't know where this is going to go. I don't know. "Nian sharks are GonNa talk about rebuilding franchises and the Lakers and the mavericks and how they're tweaking the rotations as they head towards the postseason before we get into today's show just wanted to encourage you to follow at ringer. Nba On twitter. It's a great great account to follow along to get all the updates on NBC News. Everything the ringers. Writing about and follow along games at night with some great social coverage without any further delay. Getting today's episode of Ringer. Nba Basketball is very good below and welcome to the rare NBA show. It's group chat. It's Chris Ryan. I'm joined today by Jonathan. Sharks in a mini group chat. We are here. It's Wednesday March Eleventh. And we're going to get into a bunch of NBA news some talk about NBA rebuilding projects and also some lineup from charkes. Talking about some rotations stuff but first sharks. What's going on with you man. Well I guess I think I started on twitter but for the pod people. I'm actually having my first kid and were scheduled to be induced next Thursday so stops sharks coming into the world. He's going to be tall. I'm pretty excited. My Wife's five eleven so we're going to have a big boy. What if your kid is like five six? What are you GonNa do Teaching Baseball? I guess that's right. Give them a little buzzer to put on his chest so that he can read pitches like Al TV. I like make them left handed. That's the key make left hand. That's right guys make money so we have what was it. Was a remarkable slater games last night. So we'RE GONNA do a couple of different bigger picture things today mostly talking about some of the rebuilding projects going on in the NBA. Right now because I feel like that's being a little bit in the ether. People have been talking about it and charge. Had some really interesting things to say about that. We're also GONNA talk a bit about the mavs and Lakers specifically in relation to the way recall. Al Franken will are kind of Plotting out there rotations as we hit the home stretch and head into the postseason charged. I guess we have to sort of start a little bit here with a corona virus. Update obviously neither charge nor I are at all qualified to comment on this. I'll just pass along the news in case you are listening to the NBA. Podcast but have not seen any NBA headlines. The Board of Governors is going to have a call today to discuss the League's response to the situation would put out a report last night any. Espn we won't get too deep into this because I think it's a pretty quickly moving evolving situation and it could probably change by the time you hear this but said that the NBA is considering a number of measures including playing games behind closed doors. Moving Games to cities that have not suffered a corona virus outbreak or suspending operations altogether. You know this is something. That's affecting almost every industry in the world right now. Clearly in in Europe right now we're seeing cancellation or suspension of Games in Italy. They're playing champions. League games behind closed doors. It's likely or it. Seems likely that that will happen in the premier league with soccer and as we get into the states here we could see some of the same stuff charge on it. If you have any comment on this stuff. I mean it's really scary. See what's happened like in Italy? How fast escalated from? Hey we're just GONNA play game south fans to Mike the whole country shutdown and I mean he here in the states. Even the ringer dot com is being changed. Chris you're working from home today. We are working from home today. yeah you know. We'll we'll update folks as we get updates from the NBA if anything changes over the course of the PIE will jump in. But that's pretty much all there is to say about that. We'll see how we'll see how they day enact some new changes there. I mean like obviously they've already put some new policies into effect in regards to media access to the teams And you there was stuff on twitter yesterday of people standing like eight or nine feet away from Lebron James but yeah I mean it's A. It's a scary situation. We hope everybody to stay safe out there and follows best practices. We can get into some of the action from last night. I don't want to Belabor it. Too much the Lakers finally lost a game. They lost one zero four one or two. I guess you call them a resurgent Brooklyn Nets. L. is eaten to in their last ten and they were coming off perhaps their most impressive stretch of games of the season. There's a few Lakers things. I want to point out but I think we can wait. Talk ABOUT THEM IN LINEUP. Charge three in a row for the nets. I was just wondering what kind of ended the season. Do you think Jacques von needs to have to keep the nets job for next season? Yeah I don't know this seems like a classic new coach bounce one thing. I've noticed whenever a coach gets fired. The next two or three games like the new team always plays better. It seems like whatever reason that kind of lights a fire under people and really if Jacques von wants to be the coach next season. It doesn't matter what on the talk to carry and Katie and chop it up really. Yeah I mean I think that you see this ally. This happens almost every sport where there's just like that new voice in the locker room changes things but to be fair. The Nets are doing this on the road to get some some relatively impressive teams. Obviously the Lakers being the biggest one of those. Did you catch any of the game last night? To see what von might be doing differently. Aside from giving De'andre Jordan bigger looks to me like you're asking. What's the best learning to keep his job? That's doing that like John. Bonds got no okay. This is a political job. Now this is not about like maximizing lineups. I've got to keep my best players happy. And if that means playing the less towns player than it does yeah. I'm kind of curious about Zach Lowe and Kevin Arnovitz had a conversation about Kenny Atkinson. I don't know if you call it. A Fi- firing or decoupling or whatever you. WanNa call happened to him in the nets and they were talking about the sheer number of coaching jobs. That might be open. Come this off season. And it's interesting to see in both Brooklyn and Cleveland. You know at least in Cleveland. They've actually made a real commitment. Ajay bickerstaff by giving him a four year. Deal and in Brooklyn. You have to wonder whether or not a decent showing in the playoffs against as a seven seat for Brooklyn Submits von at least for another year so in in in B K. The five thing about it is like Thai bust in the Lakers. And when you're watching those Lakers games last week against the clippers and the bucks and you're watching him. It's like Oh. This is the same team as the cavs a couple of years ago. They play the exact same way. They maximize their lineups. They haunt Lebron with mismatches. And then at the highest levels it just really feels like the best players the coach essentially so whoever the nets picker don't pick their depending on. Kevin durant being able to read the line ups evaluate talent and identify a mess. Batches right so it almost doesn't matter who the guy is. If Katie thinks deandre Jordan Jared Allen. That's a big problem for the nets because your best plant your coach your GM is not avowing talent very well. Do you think of Durant is player. Do you think durant is the floor General Guy? I think he's going to have to be. I think that's my left. Golden State is because he wanted to have what Lebron has have. Total control of the franchise. And you know when you have that controls lot of responsibility. It's not an easy to do. Yeah I mean that's it's going to be a situation where I you know. I mean obviously durant one of the best players have ever seen in my life and you know at his peak during the playoffs last year you is arguably the best player in the League at that moment before he got hurt. Especially you know those fruitless first few games of that Houston series. But you do. I don't ever think of him. As a you stand over here type of guy you know for his for his communicative Izzy is on various social media platforms in a variety of different ways. When I watch his teams I don't think of him as the conductor of the orchestra so it'll be fascinating to see how that works out next year as he comes back from an Achilles and it'll be fascinating to see how that meshes with Kyrie who I think has had a real on off relationship with being a leader. Obviously yeah I mean you have to think if you're the nets you have to hope that. Kyrie's saw I went and Boston with him as the guy and decided. I'd better find another version of Lebron play with felony win again like you have to. That was his thought process by going up with Kate with Katie. Yeah absolutely in other games last night. Boston beat the Pacers with another thirty from tatum. The rockets stopped their slide beating Minnesota And hard scored thirty seven and fully just snapped awake after slumping over the last week. I think the most interesting game for our purposes though today sharks was the one that might have been the least interesting to a national audience. Which was Chicago's five point? Win Over. Cleveland I checked out. What's most of this game last night? And these are two teams. That are going anywhere anytime soon. Obviously but I guess the question that we're talking about today is. How long do they have to be comfortably? What they are which is rebuilding clubs now. Chicago obviously came into the season hoping that they're young horror that they would nurturer and to kind of low playoff seed. I think a lot of I know a few people around the office. Were talking about the Bulls as eight seven eight seed and we're really excited about Carter Levin Mark Implying together and we're pretty high Kobe. They've been ravaged by injuries. This season I think only four of their guys have played sixty or more games this season. But you know they obviously have some institutional issues as well as well as some fit issues. There's been talk around the Bulls Organization that this will finally signal the end of the Gar packs administration and that they will bring in a basketball ops person to run personnel ultimately although that comes with like a grain of salt because still have the rise dwarfs you still have you still have a form and impacts and probably stay within the organization it stored starts to veer towards a Nixon kind of territory in terms of. Who's making what decision but church? Why don't you talk to me a little bit about why you wanted to chat about this today? In the first place because in eastern coffers there's a few teams that I think have a little bit of breathing room. They have some time to kind of discover where they're going as franchises. Maybe some some fan bases that are passive. Put it that way. I don't know if I would call bulls fans passive but whether it's probably I would say resigned. That's probably a better way to put it.

"All that stuff is true. It's very early in the season. I get it football still happening. People are probably still really you know thinking about the cowboys more than they are about the Mavs but it does feel like it's more difficult to make the case as to why you need to take time out of your to watch Luga than it is to wash. Lamar Jackson listen. I don't have any like it. Just it just feels that way. I'm not saying like I have like a stat proves that I would also say I'm I think there's an open question whether or not Jaanus in Luga. Perhaps the two of the biggest guys on the rise right now especially amongst the younger crew are the next frontier of you've NBA faces of the league. I think I haven't seen the data to suggest that they can carry it in the same way that Lebron can not celebrities and so I I do wonder I mean. Kevin O'Connor wrote about this for US last week. Changing facedly stuff. Yeah Yeah and also just on the same day that Luca had a monster performance in a matinee against the rockets the cowboys were playing the Patriots in that game was I believe like one of the most watched games in full like recent history shirt that it was like two thousand in seven now. The cowboys are a rare case. But I think that's what you're up against Yasser Markets. Yeah absolutely all right. Well that's what we got for the ratings talk. We're going to bring in sharks. "It's just that's going to be negative space. And he just don't have Gordon to really going to balance out the team anytime about a top heavy. They're playing Ben. mclemore Tana on a minutes. Yeah Ben Mc more he's starting yeah. I definitely expected macklemore to be like to step into the NBA. And be the next reality. Do you remember this when he he was getting that buzz. Yeah he was a top ten pick. I liked him can had a Kansas. It just did not happen for him. And I don't know if like just getting into the king system just completely just torpedoes he does. Everyone like just completely like sucks out his his confidence or whatever it is but if he cannot just hit open three pointers in the rocket system where they are just like in abundance abundance. I just don't know what we can do with them. But yeah they're down to like some guys that really shouldn't be playing heavy minutes for them and so that's why I'm concerned on the flip side though the other team or one of the other teams in Texas is having the complete opposite early season. Let's talk mavs too much. Talk on the ringer. Let's talk mavs. CHARKES CHARKES flag three questions before we started this in one of them. Of course like Ted maps questions. People Talk Luca Man. It's great apparel. Yes so let's start with this one. We have a few of them. We can get the two that are all kind of related. But let's start with Luca and specifically this is from D. fern if Luca Danni continues to maintain his current averages and form or slight slight drop how many games the mavs need to win for him to generally win. MVP So basically how many wins do the mavs need for Donncha too heavily legitimate shot. MVP repeat I'm an IT's Tou- if you're talking legitimate shot at MVP the bucks you're GonNa win like what sixty sixty five games probably. Yeah fivethirtyeight has them with sixty to to their projection. What are the mavs right now? Are they changed it since Wednesday so I checked this Tuesday afternoon and they were at fifty am. I think it's like for a second year player. There's going to be so much kind of resistance just from like a second year guy jumping the line a little bit. Probably like fifty five fifty. I I to me. MVP Talk a little. I'm ready to go there yet because I just think catskill fifty seven wins probably to be realistic right. If he's a fifty wins in awesome sixty two. He's not GonNa get the orders away. Yeah I think the thing that John are sorry is going to be up against is just that he is the newcomer and I think regardless guardless of how well he plays. He's always going to have that little like he's that's going to be used against him in so I wrote down sixty. I think sixty is bulletproof. If you get to sixty wins wins. That's enough to basically like discount anyone trying to knock him for this being too early or whatever. It might be Realistically I think it's probably closer closer to something that you know with the rockets got last year. which is fifty six? I think you do need to beat the rockets specifically yeah first. Shirts Harden is is going to be like the obvious comparison who has the better record of those two ships. Yeah I mean I think we are barreling toward similar result last year where Jaanus the box are going to win. A lot of games in Janas is going to play particularly well. Middleton has been now doesn't have brogden there and so I think he is getting more opportunities and just by sheer fact of taking more the threes and making more threes. You'd expect at least the scoring numbers to take a little bit of a height there. I think I think for Janas that helps to have that like extra thing because you can have to have a new story every year and now this your story is he has a three point shot and I think he's the Anti Load Management Guy. He plays all the time. Yeah that's right. He's the prime of his career. He runs around constantly. He's almost indestructible. Seems like hurt before I can remember even hurt I would. I guess. I don't think he's been to to the point of like Karl towns. WHO missed like a couple of games only because he was in a car accident but yeah? He's been really durable throughout his entire career. Yes that's a good point and he's always going to have. Also the the defensive argument and on the flip side of that harden will constantly be this. Just like unstoppable offense of force. He's also taking a step forward area in like progressing the narrative. You've he's flirting with forty points. A game as an average and we talk about will all this other stuff and so I I think to be paid his dues. I believe in that a little bit. Lucas got tunnel indepedence. We don't need to jump the line right the backlash brewing already. Let's not get out of hand with this thing. Yeah I mean listen look has a legitimate shot at this point I would put put him third because yes we talk about it. Being Ju- earlier maybe like the mavs schedule as Isaac flagged for me. It has been a little shaky at the same time they have the best offense in the NBA and they're currently sitting at the top of the NBA in net rating. Like that's legit and we'll talk mass for a second. Just I think a couple things that are happening. People really aren't realizing nationally that I made a big difference for Dallas last couple of weeks. Sleaze Carlisle's kind of figured out that Lucas dribble the ball the whole game. So if you have to dribble so it's not gonna work because Luka has the ball like no one's tongue lucrative of the ball up that means he's finding guys who don't have the ball so I he starring Tim Hardaway Junior sure and the funny thing is about Tim Hardaway Junior for as much grief as he gets. That man is always ready to shoot right. There's no t h j the catch. The ball's GonNa go up whereas like the law right. Seth Curry Jalen Brunson. All those guys are really thereby ball handlers. They don't like it in the rhythm of Luca Dom in the ball like that both ta J it's just catch and shoot catch and shoot. And that's a key for Luca's yet to have cats and shoot guys around them. Playing T H J more and they're using porzingus porzingas more off the ball like kind of cutting back on his posts ups. Because they're saying look porzingas your best Lucas Gin you shots. And you're getting upshots fast fast. SAY WE'RE NOT GONNA like post a million times and everything low. Low percentage turnaround shot. It's cutting off. The ball. flew capacity quickly and shooting and then like the team is being maximized on the bench guys than the bench. You've got like Curry Right Brunson. They're killing teams too because they have so many good point guards when Lucas. Not In the game. I think that really adjustment crawl maiden last week and a half it was pushed the mavs becoming a really good team this season. Yeah I mean we've talked about this to that the the fact they swung and missed yet again in free agency they didn't get a Kemba Walker. Another sort of superstar to pair with Porzingas and Luca Dodge as worked out in their benefit. They just seem like a more complete team and that's already paying off in terms of regular season record. They're currently fourth in the West at eleven and five and like I don't expect this this slowdown Specifically because what you're mentioning the deep If they have injuries a guy like Brunson step of employees more I think the question then becomes. What are they in the playoffs offs? And do they have enough in our these. Some of these kind of insularity guys who are filling in roles now. Are they going to be enough against the top. Heavy team like the Lakers. There's like the clippers seats to me. That's where it gets tough to send conversation as the jazz like the mavs their defense on the wing right now. It's Thornton medicine really good. And it's Tim Hardaway junior like those guys aren't guarding your big wings in the playoff series. Yeah I don't want to share anywhere near Luca I know. He's like on killing it right now though he's doing really good he suppresses energy Aj. But like I do worry in a playoff series in the bright lights are on all of a sudden. He's taking more shots than should I might. He just sub because he's playing Like the mavs like asking the guard like Bradley. Beal in the Bron- that right there tells you this team was championship solution. Yeah Yeah Yeah and I think this is a good segue to our next mavs related question which is from rhinos seventy-seven What move should the mavericks due to take them over the top and become become a championship contender? Do you have any thoughts. Yeah I mean it goes back to that Utah Conversation again like they need a three d wings on a guard. Lebron coli But everyone needs that. Like those guys aren't available and trades. Yeah I feel like if you were doing a segment on each team we would end up kind of just mentioning three wing. Wing Ism Boyd. Except for the clippers. Quietly those guys like centers like thirty years ago where it was like. Get at your big center to guard the pose. And that was the franchise player. Now it's at at six eight. Do everything wing without that kind of player. It's just tough layer in the playoffs. Yeah I wrote down a couple possible suggestions. One which I think is actually kinda doable. especially if it's not a trait it's more of a buyout. What about Andrea Dollar? I'd love him in Dallas. I feel like though he's prime good. La I don't think he wants to live in Dallas that his age. It's not a hot spot for someone like him. I mean he's a silicon valley magnet. Now he's we're not construe as it needs to be closer to his tech connections. Yeah I probably come via trade one of the big issues with the mavs and with this question in general so is what did the mavs really have in terms of assets. They have their twenty twenty one. I and they're twenty twenty three. I do chew the Knicks which means they can't trade and he pick until I believe twenty twenty five they can work with swap rights. But outside of that you really dealing from the core and in terms of younger assets. That's the teams would want. It's really what Jalen Brunson. Maybe it's really Jalen Brunson and I you know. I think he's pretty good but he's been like in the back burned last few weeks. He's kind of lost out with teams. been reshuffled so he played like three minutes the other night. Like how are you going to be a trade peace. That's again right. And he doesn't have the pedigree degree of someone like who could a round pick. Yeah Yeah I mean Dhillon right is another guy but as you mentioned. He's a bigger piece of what they're doing now and not a great shooter and I don't know the lawns that it'd be a big trade ship either true true. Let me throw this out as you just on kind of like the the lower level. What what about Frankie smokes? I've been saying for a while when he frankie he'd be perfect in Dallas. Could that team euro thing. I'm.

"To compete for the number one seed in the west and also like he seemed like a free clear-cut MVP candidate. I'm a little concerned about him. MM-HMM SO I might put him in the Cheer Below Zion and I think that's when you're talking about embiid crm. I might even throw in Ben Simmons. I hate to be The ringer employee here. But a where's Jason Tatum. And all of this because he's looking really good recently charts guy. I can't even take credit for him. I was is really hard on him earlier for the draft. He's good but to me. Him and Jalen Brown are pretty close. I'm not sure tatum. That much brown honestly. I think the two way potential of Jason Tatum. 'cause we're just thinking about a player to build around right And Al Get tatum. And you look at a player. Like Ben Simmons. Ben Simmons you can see the ceiling ailing if he develops a jump shot. That might raise the ceiling but not too much Jason. Tatum his ceiling is. I don't know Paul George. I don't know about that. You say that I like to me. TATUM passing the ball. I think of him and that kind of player. I think he's at right now. Well two point five assists that's a career high for him like that number up before talking about crm to me is getting up there. Like what can I do on the court. These days. He's guarding position. He skipped scoring. Willie's passing assing is defending. He's shooting you always becoming a legit. Yes trolling bead right. Yeah right Oh just to see the best Cameroonian player in the NBA Pasquale Kausikan. So this is a tough one. We're coming off a match up last night where they did win that battle Siaka managed to shut down the sixers late in that that game scored a big bucket. Shut down Allay possession from the sixers and then took an outlet pass and dunked it as time expires to really punctuate the win and also also gave I assume it was in b but also the sixers in general. "I think I had him ranked twelfth or thirteenth in the fourteen drafts. I think the main thing that I'm a little surprised about is that over the years. His defense has not been quite as good as it was at the college level in college. He was a consistently high effort defender and part of that was the level of competition. But one thing he always gave was intense effort. And maybe maybe part of that is like the circumstances. He's been part of Orlando Phoenix New Orleans, not all like having horrible seasons. But he's never been on a good contending team. Maybe it's been his environment. I don't know. I would be curious to see him in a role where he's not he's always been a starter to for the most part. I would like to see him in a role where he can come off the bench. A winning team and get back to what he wasn't college and on a high level where he did. Right. He did defend any did rebound. He's a great would if because as you're talking about him he's been with all these rat teams. What if he's a spur? You know, what I'm saying what if they get them with their shooting coach? And what if they get within that system, which he looked kinda guy that would fit within something like that that maybe maybe it's all different, you know, so much of these guys success and failure can be dependent upon how they fit out and who they get drafted by. But I haven't given up on him completely. And he's obviously had a good voice on earth with him his rookie year magical in twenty five games had to head coaches. They won thirty five games the second season twenty nine games his third season. And then he got traded from Orlando to Phoenix his fourth season. So losing count right here. But I believe he's had a different coach every single season of his NBA career. And he's never been on a winner. Either. I believe that's the case Vaughn Borrego skylines Vogel. Then he got traded the Phoenix, and then he signed with New Orleans this offseason. So I pretty sure a different coach every year of his career. That's crazy. So certainly wanted to highlight him because five consecutive triple doubles. It's quite the accomplishment in terms of games that are going out tonight. Let's quickly talk about the NBA watch of the night. It is the Lakers at the bucks on NBA TV. It's eight PM eastern time, which would have been I'm certain that we would have circled this a few months ago as a monster game down the stretch. Instead virtue of what is the Lakers. It is not necessarily a monster game yet, it will feature Janas who all eyes are on because he might very well be the MVP. We're going to be talking about if any of the awards can be decided in these last twelve games in a moment. But Lakers books tonight NBA TV at eight pm. What intrigues you? I think more than anything else. Chris. It's the poetic aspect of this game. Where here we have Jano sensitive Kumho who is possibly the MVP leading the one seeded bucks into the postseason where they could make a finals run, maybe win the finals with Jaanus. And then here we have LeBron James who was going to miss the postseason for the first time since his second season in the league the oh four oh five season for the first time since then, and he's looking older he got blocked the other night by Mario his own. Yeah..

"Does right now what do you think certainly a possibility last night we saw villanova take twenty seven of their thirty seven shots for three so that's nearly half and the houston rockets in the nba do take fifty one point one percent of their shots from three like just over half so villanova certainly does run what resembles an nba offense which made less sense game especially especially exciting to watch and the guy who took advantage of that chris dante even though unbelievable homes by him yeah for your purposes because i know you spend a lot of time evaluating players for in upcoming nba draft for your purposes does them being able to it doesn't feel like evaluation might be able to get a little bit easier if college more mirrored what the nba looks like because that's been one of the real challenges right with so many of these cases how does it translate to the next i mean i would love for more of the things to be adopted obviously the line is shorter but especially defensive three seconds if i could have anything that would be the thing that i would take out of college basketball that would help with evaluation for the next level i would think in terms of driving lanes in terms of guys not being able to just stand right in front of the stupid basket but do you know don't you think that if villa if more team started looking like villanova may be the evaluation process gets a little bit easier that struck me last night maybe but also maybe not because the skill levels is close on par is nba basketball understand but you know i think you know moving the three point line out to the nba distance would help you know adding defensive three second violations to make pains run less zone that would help as well as a shot clock as well there's those a long list of things really here's saying i'm watching villanova last night and i think you can watch those guys this is just me i watch those guys and i i don't think it's.
