"P.m. Eastern time 7 P.m. Pacific every single week night Monday through Friday. It's if you didn't know what a weeknight Wass OK, a big shot out the super producer stew Kovacs. We got more to talk about. I started off the show talking about the quarterback's the greatness of Aaron Rodgers that this man is still doing what he's doing. It's crazy. A lot of folks I think, especially in Wisconsin. Quite a few people would call me up here on the show and say I can't wait to get rid of the guy. So we started off the show talking about Aaron Rodgers. We spend some time talking about Josh Allen. We talked about Carson Wentz. Then we spent time talking aboutthe Lakers in the heat. I think it will be a closely contested Siri's. I'm ultimately going to give the series to the Los Angeles Lakers because I believe they have the guy to get them over the edge on the LeBron James Theis experience the play, not just the experience of the play. He has a reputation the Lakers have already lobby the officials. OK, we talked about the chief's beating up on the Ravens showing who is still, boss. Are the Ravens ready? It's a beetle. Not tonight. Kansas City ones 34 to 20 Pat Mahomes gives you forth such downs in the year. Punches another one in on the ground. Airs it out for 385 yards. Lamar Jackson, looking rather pedestrian, especially in the air. Completes 15 of 28 passes for 97 Yards Gives you 83 yards rushing as the only score 20. Going to continue to take your phone calls this hour I want to talk about. I want to talk about another team. The other team in Los Angeles. They don't have a head coach right now in Doc Rivers, the Clippers. No longer together. Let's continue with your phone calls. We have more to talk about before I roll out. The phone lines are busy and thank you to everybody who has hit me up on Twitter. You guys love a good argument. You guys love some controversy love a car crash. Okay, You can sweep me at J. R sport brief Dodger Blue Jackson. We had a caller who wanted to call up and for whatever reason, just Talk about the Houston Astros, and I said, they're losers. They got a 29 and 31 record. You know what that means to me? Losers. I don't care what playoffs he made when everybody goes. So I had to let him know and any just was crazy. So thank you to Dodger Blue Jackson on Twitter. Thank you to chat Pappas. Said. I'm you better come correct or you get your ass whooped. I'm a kind guy. J. R is for love and peace. And soul. Don Cornelius. Some of you have no idea what.

"Good for them. Somebody was making a really good point today in terms of the bubble, and, you know, maybe the betting action hasn't been what you would have seen. It came for playing at home just because when you are in a bubble You take out that home court factor So obviously, you know, being in Game one and being at table centre and having a crowd and things like that. And you know all the narrative behind. It certainly changes things. But you know being that the Lakers are the one seed on DH playing here. You know, you really don't have that home court advantage. That the Lakers worked so hard for all year and it'll be really interesting to kind of see how it plays out. Obviously, you know, Game one. What? Well, yes, sir. It might be a trendsetter in terms of you know what we You can certainly expect to see the rest of the series. Quick. You mentioned the Clippers. Were you surprised that they parted ways with Doc Rivers? I know his track record as Faras with 31 needs in the postseason has not been good, but he's been a charismatic guy on the sidelines for a long time for this Clippers team. Were you surprised that bomber parted ways today? No. You know, I think they've really made overtures to kind of go all in, you know, with the Kwai and Paul George Finance, And obviously they steal two years in You know, I haven't gotten to the ultimate goal. They haven't even reached the Western Conference finals. So I certainly think Palmer was disappointed and rivers and their performance this year I stand a good chance is any and, you know, I'm not really surprised to see that move on to be interesting to see who they bring in those How cruises that starting tomorrow? I mean, you got another, You know, almost like a little mini March Madness. Where all day baseball baby, You got four games tomorrow. But on Wednesday eight playoff games, Major League baseball Yeah, certainly in obviously given everything that's going on, you know the scheduling. Obviously, that would have been playing, you know, during the summer on DH things like that. But you know, when you're Jam pack in, Um you know these games and at once, then you're playing a part of on similar days. I think it makes for a really great viewing experience. That betting experience, you know, for fans in general, so certainly excited. I think the going to generate massive handle a lot of right. Yeah, and provide a lot of exposure to, you know. Seems that you might have not made the buy off on a normal year. All right, I'm gonna be having a wager on the side with my good pal Phish fan on his ratings bills game. I'm gonna take the radios to rebound. He's gonna back his bills. Of course. How shocked were you to watch Buffalo give up that 28 3 lead against the Rams. I was because I had the Bill's mind is too And I'm just sitting there watching, but I can't even believe this. And then I think they got a gift card at the end on the pass interference, but they made it count ended up covering the game. But I would think that, you know, sports book directors yesterday the ups and downs. You know, somebody at the sports book Operations manager. I mean, you guys just like the betters themselves going up and down and up and down with emotion to nowhere. You You don't know where you're gonna be a good side of the ledger with the crazy day like yesterday. I am an absolute guy about Buffalo. Mind Tio myself as well. I was certainly difficult a lot there. You could kind of see the writing on the wall. You know when there was a couple of turnovers by Josh Allen there in the second half The RAM started to move the ball and looks really good offensively on, you know the first touchdown in the second touchdown, I got really close. You could kind of tell that that. Yeah, the all the moment, um, was with the ramp and like you said, uh, ticky tacky called there at the end, you know, force, you know. The rep. That kind of throw the flag there on DH make Buffalo come through it in the end for all the backers, but you know, Buffalo looked great all year. Has the Rams. Really? But, you know, super impressed with Josh Allen that here with how well he loved would be interesting. If we both will go on the road and see how well they respond. The last weekend of the letdown spot burst the Raiders here. Jeff, We appreciate you and Brad Powers, and I enjoy using the circus sports line on a fighting football fiasco. Eso biggest show and we run down all the college and pro games. We always enjoyed that. And you guys do a great job that we can't wait for October 28 for that circus sports book to be open and hanging out down there. It's going to be Crandall, a crime that would be awesome and and to see you again. I'm not in the circus survivor, but I do have a couple entries as you know, over there in the circle Million, too. And my good pal Chuck at was a partner of mine. And and Chuck, you nail in a couple of good ones yesterday with Detroit, and then he also had another big dog. Yesterday that came through so picked up a little ground. You're 10 and 51187 in the other 2 10 and five ones looking good, but it's only a few weeks in. How about the circus? Survival real quick update us. How many people do you have any idea how many people are left around? You know how many people are left? Yeah, I believe somewhere in the neighborhood. We had 801 people coming in to the week. Um, somewhere in the neighborhood of roughly, like 100 people about a lemonade. Obviously the Chargers losing to the Panthers on then, obviously the Lions beating the Cardinals, in addition to what happened on Thursday night, with the Jaguars going down to the Dolphins..

"When you look at the series, right? It certainly makes sense to me. Jeff, You know when we wouldn't you talk about the boat will be in a different set up. You know, I saw you want even before the Milwaukee Siri's. You could see that Miami had chemistry and they have a second team. And Tyler here has got more playing time. But he showed that he can consistently go to the rack. He can knock down the tree and give them another guy to lead the offense with the second team, And then he started playing more with the first team. But when you have a guy like that, you gotta Goran drag it And then you got an X factor like Jimmy Butler, who Been playing very well of late. You could see their chemistry as opposed to, uh, Milwaukee. You were struggling in the games prior to the postseason. Theyjust want playing well, they didn't have that same chemistry They had before the covert went down and you could see Yon is struggling and and other players forcing shots, So I kind of felt like they had an excellent opportunity to beat Milwaukee. They did that, and then they just really continued to click and play. Well. They had that one meltdown in Game five balls. And ended up, you know, going off for 41 point third quarter and kept the Siri's going, But then they closed the door last night. I think they have enough players to play with the Lakers, and I think they're quick enough. And if guys like Cosma and, uh, you know, I'll call up Caldwell Pope of things Guys don't step up and do their job. I know Lady and LeBron or good. I think guys like Rondo. I think all these guys need to step up because we saw the Lakers struggle in several games with Denver Endeavor was basically a two man team with your kitchen. Murray. So you know, no sound could have done anything that serious could have continued on. So I think this Miami team has got a lot of confidence and there's no pressure on them. They're not supposed to win. They know it. They've already won the Eastern Conference, so I think Live right now, as you know, a little better than 3 to 1 Dog. Yeah, I mean, absolutely, like, you know, I think it's a great point. When you look at the Lakers, they're very heavy and outside of LeBron and Anthony Davis, you know if there's not as many supporting pieces I say the Miami he'd have, you know, they're a little bit deeper. You know, they have more guys who are going to score in the 15 to 20 point range, as opposed to, you know, Anthony Davis on LeBron Put 30 tonight. Like you said, you know, they really jealous team come together chemistry wise, and I think the bubble is.

"Fucking. Just see that. All Jamie what about you? I think brought it up last week. But I did watch the first episode Rachid very different than what I thought. It was GONNA be. Mentioned by. See the rest but it was it was bizarre. Most. The music was lifted from Alfred Hitchcock films which was Strange. Really. Like seriously. It's it's very much like how Ryan? Murphy. He's shows are all like glorify trash basically, and it's kind of like how it is. I'll go back and produce though. But it's It's different and. Then fourth season just started on Netflix of a good place I'm. Going to finish that series off. And Chapter Woodley Nice. me I watched We talked about in the grew in the text chat for a little bit the devil all the time with with Tom. Holland. And Robert Pattinson. which I thought was I personally was a fantastic movie. I really enjoyed it. Now what I now now I expected Tom Holland to be capable of. Let's put it that way. It was a really good movie. I thought. So have you guys ever get the chance to hunker down and watch that. I'd be curious to know what your thoughts are of that. netflix would netflix netflix original netflix's okay. And then I've been. Starting another audio book because I don't have the attention span to read. So I've been listening to three ring circus the story of the first Lakers three Pete and how that all came together and How Kobe Bryant was a big snooping crybaby Brat for he matured. Fantastic. Good read. Funny Stories. But yeah. That's what's on my radar and that's what.

"Somebody. Or the Lakers going out rebound Miami in the first game I I. Hope. So so on the night tonight, the Celtics grabbed forty two boards overall thirteen on the offensive glass, the heat grab forty, and only two offensive rebounds think about that. The Celtics got eleven extra possessions on the offensive glass and still lost why because the heat Sean fifty-six percent from the field fifty, six percent and forty, eight percent from three. You know what you already know what I'm going to say. There's a regression coming. We saw the regression game from the Denver Nuggets in Game Five. What do we believe? Hey, I always go back to this. Maybe I'm annoying about at this point, but do we believe the Miami Heat are a fifty six percent shooting team from the field? Do we believe they are forty eight percent shooting team from the three point line which would make them the greatest shooting team ever? Know. That means their numbers will fall back down at some point I believe against the Lakers defense they can. But Boston's a really good offensive team to in fact, they were the second rated defensive team in the playoffs. So I don't want to look at it and say, Oh, the Lakers defense is so much better than the Celtics Miami has no shot. No of Miami shoots like this. They're going to be trouble for anybody I just don't believe that they can do this consistently. Can they get hot and do this for a game? Yes. Can they do this all the time? I don't think so. I don't think that's reasonable to assume and speaking of which let me see if the stats have refreshed after this game. So right now, the Lakers are leading the playoffs in field goal percentage at just under fifty percent forty, nine, point eight Miami comes in seventh at forty, six percent, and again they shot fifty five, fifty, six percent tonight from the field and in three point percentage. The Miami Heat for the playoffs are shooting thirty, six percent from.

"Phone lines open 855 to 1 to four, CBS. We're gonna talk about Kansas City chiefs being the Ravens. We're going to talk about that momentarily. But before we went to break we had a whole conversation. About the Miami heat in the Los Angeles Lakers and which team would ultimately will ultimately raised the Larry O'Brien trophy. I think it's going to be a close sarees. I think it's going to be a great series. The story lines right themselves. And I think when you think about this, this unlikely run of the Miami Heat. They are the perfect example of a team What you want from 18? What? You what you want, and that's what they've done. I think they've been aided playing in the bubble, not necessarily having the distractions, not taking some of these major role players. It's Holly hero Duncan Robinson. And putting them out on the road. I think this has been to their benefit to just go out and ball out. Is to Miami. They have the fundamentals. They're all there. But I think the deciding factor Is a guy looking for his fourth title. I'm think the guy the deciding factor is someone who, when his career is done when you look at the numbers when you look at the stats when you look at the records You might just be the most decorated basketball player of all time. And right now. I'm looking at LeBron James. You know the question marks for a long time throughout this entire postseason. Has been the Los Angeles Lakers and what the other players do well. Anthony Davis, he's given you just about 30 per game. The team has played better now that Ray's on Rondo has come back. And save these Paul Caldwell Pope. Okay, you'll still let me now then pop up and give you two And that's why I think the sarees will be great. Cause both teams have stepped it up. In a Miami heat man. They've They've done amazing job Granted, they've had to do or showcase and they've had the comeback a lot against Ah Boston Celtics team. And I think that's what keeps them competitive in this series. I think that's what gives them an opportunity to win that they are a team. Take our ball is they got dogs. But I think ultimately there's just so much with the Lakers and his name is is LeBron. I can't put it any other way. 855 to 1 to four, CBS said these phone lines and get your thoughts. Let's talk to Marty. He's calling up from Palm Springs, Florida. Marty you on CBS Sports radio Go on ahead. Hey, as all post swings California, actually, But I'm just want to compare this. Siri's of the old four. Siri's between the Pistons and the Lakers when the Lakers had the so called Dream Team, Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Coby Shack. Up against the Detroit team. Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, No one gave him a chance. A lot of similarities. This Miami team. They play hard and they don't take any minutes off. And as far as LeBron If he continues to just put the ball down in his chest and lower shoulder like a fullback, and never get a call, And when he called does go against him. Oh, my goodness, I think as a Miami fan depicted in five is a pretty good back. Okay. Well, thank you, Marty for calling up from Palm Springs. I would say no. And I understand the premise of looking at that that that Pistons team But that Lakers team is different. That Lakers stay if you want to compare the Pistons. To the current Miami heat. Definitely understand it makes all the sense in the world that piston squad Waas, a team. They were elements. Everybody fit together. Perfect mean these were guys who had all star talent. Nobody was generally a major superstar. I would venture to say Rashid Wallace is probably the best player on the team just from a pure talent perspective. Rip Hamilton unique in his ability to get around screens and put up shots. Chauncey Billups to command. It seemed Ben Wallace, a defense and rebounding. They were a perfect combination of Tayshaun Prince. They were perfect. And if you want to think about the team element and apply that so what the Miami heat or doing now, that makes absolute sense but to tied into the Lakers just because they're playing the Lakers, I think that might be Too much more of a stretch. Outside of what I just said. That seem was aging that seem was old. Kolbein shack at that point in some, we're sick of each other. We just had Jeff Perman on what? His book last week to help break what that was like. And Gary Payton and Karl Malone. They were they would cause the end they were trying to grab a ring. They were trying to play with Kolbein shag. That was done. A different squad. A different team wouldn't necessarily relate him that close. Bryce is calling up from Missouri. Bryce. You want CBS Sports Radio Jr Sport re show what say you? Hey, How you doing? Terrific. Bryce Going ahead. Well, I want to just talk about how the heat are just going to take this series in five easy. Well, that's why you're on go. Alright. You got Tyler hero that's playing like an all Star. Potentially, you got Bam Best center in the East..

"If you can contest though if you can get hands up, yes, they are still going to make some. But if you can get hands up on them, you can you can throw them out of their rhythm and for the Lakers. Their defense is the most important part of their offense the Lakers half court offense is still not great. It's not a dominant half court offense. Yes. There's times when Lebron James just goes King James. Mode and he takes over and he scores we saw that happening game five Lebron James. said. I'm done I don't WanNa keep playing I. Don't want to play a game six. I'm ending this right now and he did. He's that good. Guy But in general, the Lakers offense is much much better. They get a stop or I force a turnover especially live ball turnover where they are deadly is in transition. That's the Lakers at their very, best fast break basketball I know it's crazy but the Lakers identity has reverted back to the showtime era defend like crazy and run, and that's what we're seeing the. Lakers, do when they're at their best and so it's going to be really important that the Lakers defense is on point against Miami and you saw they will throw in little things to try to catch you being overaggressive. They'll throw in some back cuts. Jay crowder is really good at them under egr Dolla is snick is a sneaky with them. They will drive along that baseline when you're focused. On the ball on Jimmy Butler. On Tyler Huron whoever they will sneak in with those baseline cuts, and so it's going to be really important for the Lakers defense that they can test every shot that they force Mrs and that's going to allow them to get out in transition. So again, the most important thing in the finals and just in general is the defense period for the Lakers there are a lot of other things that matter you got rebound got a box out gotta hit high percentage shots, all of those things, but the defense is at the top of everything for the Lakers. And I guess we should throw out the old cliche. Defense wins. Championships right. somebody from Youtube took the name Pumpkin Seeds I. Guess Appropriate for this time of year says, are you at all nervous about this series? I don't I'm more excited than nervous I think Miami plays so well as a team that they can exploit some things but what I've seen from the Lakers has given me some confidence in terms of their ability to adapt like even if the Lakers come out and lose game one, the Lakers have done a really nice job of adapting to whatever an opponent throws at them. Right, they don't do it right away. It's not like first quarter ends and the Lakers switch everything they're doing and start throwing new plans at their opponent that hasn't been their Mo. it's been once they lose then they switch things. That's what we've seen. So it's this adaptability though that makes me think that whatever Miami's throwing at them the Lakers.

"Puerto Bow on the season for the Boston Celtics somewhat disappointing ending I guess it's always disappointing especially if you're affiliated with the Boston, Celtics if you don't raise that championship trophy at. The end of the year, there were some bright spots, Jalen. Brown played pretty well on Sunday night. He had twenty six points in only seventeen shots on scale. Few things stood out. As you mentioned, Daniel Types really struggled to guard Bam out of bio during that crucial stretch in the fourth quarter and then Gordon Hayward I thought he came off a significant injury. He left the bubble for the birth of his child on scale. He looked a little sub part of me. He wasn't quite as energetic locked himself on Sunday night and I think the Celtics needed him to be that in order to have a chance to beat this Miami.

Giants need win, help to reach playoffs after loss to Padres

"There were 7 18 7 wins 18 losses against teams that were over 500. If you look at all the playoff teams there, eight wins 20 losses. How far can these Giants go? If they do get into the playoffs? And what are your thoughts against his three game Dodgers series? The first round if and when they get to l. A on Wednesday? Well, I don't know if anybody would pick the Giants to win that. I don't think it's it just it's just not not a reasonable way to think. I mean, the Dodgers were the best team in baseball there 25 games over 500 there one through nine with power hitters. They've got Kirsch on and bueller lined up. They got a bunch of right handed pitchers, you know, adjust in May and Johnson against the Giants, right handers. Stacks up really kind of comically. One sided, however, Marty, it's baseball, right? I mean, what's the point of serious when the first one, but if they be Kershaw behind behind God's man, I mean, you know, that's that's the great thing. They go in your record book? Look up. 1951 look of 1962. Yeah, and this is a you're going to write it. I hope it's Giants Dodgers. You'll write a great story that you will write an amazing story. About about how these teams have played before and how the Giants were written off before to the very last pitch, and they ended up winning and winning penance by doing it. So my feeling is Bruce. You got a lot of lefties. The Dodgers a lefty oriented. We've seen what Kershaw was done before. It's a baseball game. That's all it is. Anything can happen. Yeah, three runs in the first inning off. Kershaw is like, whoa, what's going on here? And all of a sudden, people say, Gee, we didn't see that coming. Yeah, and it's very I wouldn't say it's unique to baseball. But you know if you get an NFL Matchup kind of the best in the worst. He had a pretty good idea how it's going to come out or an MBA. The Lakers are playing a team that's you know, they can't win a game to save their life. If you had a fair idea, but the baseball and we've seen it so many times. You can just knock you on your own your song on your seat her off your seat. What's What is it? Something like that happens. It's the shock. That's it. Come on the Mets and the Orioles 1969. How about that? Yeah, the miracle Mets. They weren't supposed to get there. They weren't supposed to beat the Braves, then Henry Aaron, and they did. And then next next thing, you know, they win the whole thing. And you know Cleon Jones and Tommy and me and Tom Seaver and all of a sudden the team that have been so unbelievably bad. It's like, Wow, these guys are really good, and it turned out they They were very good for the for the next several years, But that was that was a miraculously kind of thing that you know it goes back to the miracle Braves, you know, back in 1919 14. That's correct, George Stone, the miracle Braves. Yeah. So The history of baseball. It's filled with great stuff like this and completely improbable development. So we will watch with great anticipation.

"Assists to close it out to make it to the finals. Did you know last year when they were injury red, and he didn't make it to the playoffs, that he had taken eight consecutive trips with Miami in Cleveland? That is just absolutely crazy to me, so he's going No surprises there when they were up 31. I think it was kind of a done deal. I couldn't envision Denver. Doing it again after they came down from came back from 31 deficits against the Jazz, and then the Clippers like there's just no chance with the star power. Oh, and just the weapons of the Lakers have for for Denver to overcome that absolutely great run for Yokich in Jamal Murray, But you know all things coming to an end and LeBron trying in his career fourth player to reach tense finals. In fact, only three franchises have actually made MBA finals. ATT over 10 Times. LeBron is his own franchise to begin with, right?

"Damon Long from facebook. If Lebron picks up the triple double record for magic and handles business in five games, does he finally earned the respect of being a Laker Damon? What else does he have to do at this point is that has to win a championship and pass. Magic. Past Kobe and scoring. I understand. There's fans out there who still It's not as many anymore but still see Lebron outside it was I was like fifty fifty right when the Brown signed with the Lakers. Lakers fans who are not happy because for years it was Kobe versus Lebron, and that was just built into our DNA of tear down the Bron- lift up Kobe. Because Lakers fans that's what we're going to do it. So suddenly Lebron's a Laker and it's hard to kind of flip that around. All right and people weren't have your door. Some people were happy with his politics. So people don't don't like the way he plays the game or you know any kind of antics when he gets fouled or whatever. Right. Is Lebron accepted as a Laker. At this point, I feel like the people who don't accept Lebron is a Laker that call themselves. Lakers fans are just never going to. Just give up I think that the turning point for me the point where there's it shouldn't exist anymore. This is Lebron. Laker is not you know he's in the he's not really one of our guys for me. The moment that was gone should've been completely wiped out. was when Lebron address the staple center crowd. in the first game back after Kobe's passing. That moment. was. Special and certainly one that that will live on past this season. And it was in that moment I think he tweeted out Lebron is a laker period. That's that was it. There was no more. Lebron, versus Kobe or any of that, Lebron. One of US was part of Lakers nation. Pay An again, most a lot of people that accepted him before that. But that moment to me I felt like cash if you're. After that after what he said. If you don't accept him at that moment, you're probably never going to. So I don't know I don't know of winning a championship and passing magic and triple doubles and all that will ever change the mind of those those few people that are still holding out and still anti Lebron. Probably won't. But I'm not going to worry about them because right now Lebron blew up tonight Lebron carried the Lakers or helped carry the Lakers to an NBA finals. Can't fault them. Can't fault Lebron is a Laker period. All right let's do the master lock of the night. Let's get into that. We got a master lock somebody. So let's put on the Master Lock and hopefully Chris put on the master lock in his match tonight and got a win. We are going to do the master lock right now, and then right after I will do the final question of the night getting the final Lakers nation dot com t shirt. All right. "All right Kevin Vera from Youtube. Kevin Vera you get it asking Celtics or heat tomorrow. So Kevin Again, all you gotTa do shoot me Diem right here on twitter and I'm GonNa send you a Lakers nation shirt. All right. So It's your your address. Also, this has got to be within the United States have to be in the US so question Celtics or heat tomorrow, and I'm going to piggyback on that one a little bit. A lot of people asking do we prefer the Celtics or the heat? So who wins tomorrow? I'm going to say because OPTIMA. This is me being optima. Is this really optimistic I'm going to say the Celtics win. And on what like? That's the best scenario for the Lakers. But it feels gross to say, I want the Celtics to win. No I don't want the Celtics to win. Their the Celtics. Makes, ME, nauseous. That's disgusting but The best scenario for the Lakers is that it goes to game seven. I'll just say that not going to say who WANNA win game six I think the best case scenario for the Lakers is it goes to game seven. From, there which team to the Lakers want. So I, think the challenge with the Celtics is that they offer the top end talent right Jason Tatum can go nuts jalen brown can go nuts. These guys are very, very good and the Lakers their weakness heading into the season we said this. not this last July but a year ago. July because this season has gone on forever. After Free Agency in July of Twenty nineteen. We said it was very clear then that the Lakers don't have enough wing defenders. Light Lebron was pretty much their only real like small forward. They didn't have that guy cal KUZMA's more powerful than small forward. Now, they got Markeith Morrison that helps. But who's defending Jason Tatum, and if you say Casey P, that's wrong. K. Maybe Danny Green a little bit. But Casey is proven time and time again, and this is not a knock on him but he's proven time and time again that asking him to defend a big wing does work. Casey P, six, four, six, five, he's better defending ones that he has threes he's too. He's better defending ones than he has threes kind. That's that's the way he is built great. He gets torched by Kawhi, Leonard gets, torch by a lot of the the bigger wings, which again is totally understandable. It's unreasonable to expect him to fend those guys. He's giving up a giant size advantage so. The Lakers don't have a lot of wing defenders and because of that I look at the Miami Heat and I see okay they've got Jimmy Butler crunch time. Lebron can check him. Other than that, you can casey p chase, Dunkin, Robinson offer screens. Probably Danny Green can do that. Goran Dragic He's tough. He's very good but. I think defensively, it matches up a little bit better. You've got the Energy Obama of bio and then you get the energy of Dwight Howard. I feel like the Lakers match up a little bit better with Miami in terms of defensive strengths..

"Finally. Finally I've been talking about this, all series that the Denver Nuggets are not a fifty plus percent field goal team they're not all season long they've been forty seven percent the entire regular season forty-seven percent in the playoffs forty-seven percent every game against the Lakers one through four they were about fifty percent if not better one game, there were fifty, five percent I think that was game three. I kept saying there's regression coming. There's a regression game coming we need it. It finally came it was tonight. This was the regression gave the game where it's where they shoot below average enough to bring them back to that forty seven percent number, and that's exactly what we saw happen. Jeremy Grant made himself a lot of money heading into free agency. He was very good but still just seven of eighteen shooting Yokich was nine of sixteen. That's fine. But seven of seventeen for Jamal Murray obviously hobbled but he had been shooting over fifty percent. The Nuggets did twenty seven percent of their threes again, regression they're. Finally, the Regression Games here. Okay guys. Let's call it a actually. Let me talk about points in the payroll quick for we move into. Everything. Else. Because the Lakers did a really nice job attacking the paint and making things work from there the Lakers put up fifty two points in the paint on the night, which is Great Denver, put a fifty credit them there. But eighteen fast-break points for the Lakers to just fifteen. For the nuggets, the Lakers did a nice job getting out on the break but ultimately, it really came down to the Lakers shooting better than the nuggets were and they and they converted their shots. All right. Let's go into the Lakers fans that means I'm taking just questions. That's it. I'm taking your questions and nothing else and we're going back and forth talking Lakers basketball. "Right. Check it out the stats here first and foremost we gotta start. Lebron James Good? Lord Thirty Eight Points Sixteen rebounds ten assists. Okay. Maybe. This is volcanic Lebron James Destroyer of worlds are tremendous. Again, a triple double thirty eight points sixteen boards tennis says one steal only two turnovers fifteen of twenty five, shooting fifteen of two thousand five has shooting was absolutely tremendous Anthony Davis again, chipping in tonight you could see that defensively you could see the ankle was bugging him a little bit on the boards it was bugging him but still Like an eighty percent healthy Anthony Davis twenty seven points. Twenty seven points five boards three assists steals one block he was the Michael Porter Jr. Block eight of sixteen shooting and two four from how about that big dagger three from Anthony. Davis. In the fourth at the end, they're all for that kickout Lebron James gets the ball into the paint and that's been the key for the Lakers and their offense get the ball into the paint and then good things will happen from there either you're getting a shot at the rim or you're finding open shooters and big credit to I. Believe it was Alex Caruso who passed the ball along. Dwight. Howard. Nine points, nine boards, two blocks perfect three or four shooting. That's it. That's all you need from Dwight. Howard. That's all you need from the Lakers Center. But the biggest thing that will credit white with is he played thirty five minutes. He committed five fouls. But if you went by the foul rate that he had when he was playing twenty minutes, he would have found out at like twenty five right like. Dwight. Held himself, in check. And that's credit to him because this is a guy who is some part of his success comes because of how aggressive he is because of his energy that he brings out on the court and he's being told to rein that in a little bit because the Lakers needed him to play more minutes. Amazing stuff from Dwight Howard tonight defensively he was tremendous. He tied Lebron James In plus minus to leave the team plus Twelve Dwight Howard. Again, I talked about this other video. I did this morning Dwight Howard before this game I'm not sure what it looks like after but before this game Dwight Howard for this series was leading the Lakers in net rating. He didn't play last series. About that Dwight. Howard was unplayable against the Houston Rockets because the style of play. How quickly things change Dwight was indispensable in this series you don't do what you did tonight without Dwight Howard. Amazing amazing performance from him, and again, the stat line doesn't doesn't do justice to just out. Good. He was nine boards only to offense aboard the nuggets obviously put an effort to keep the Lakers off the offense. classically, they had eleven in game four five here tonight. In Game Five Danny Green Eleven. Points two blocks three of seven to four from deep he started sluggish but everything he did since it's just fine. He was a plus six on the night. Alex Caruso stepped up as a score eleven points four assists one steal one block..

"III LOVES SIGHT THAT LOSS. From the Lakers and how about we break it down right now guys Lebron. What is third triple-double this postseason, but it wasn't enough against the nuggets. Last Night Denver led by twenty as late as the fourth quarter Lebron Ford in thirteen points in a last-ditch comeback at. Albury, finished with a team I twenty, eight, ten of which came in the fourth defend off Lebron the Lakers and hold on for the one fourteen to one. Oh, six Windsor Shannon. What is the biggest reason? The Lakers lost this one. They came out they came out and look like a team was to oh, and they just thought you know we don't come on here and do what we do and and not play hard and you could tell early on the nuggets were getting whatever they want. They drive laid up in the paint they you'll get to his dominant hand his right hand. Kiva phenomenal player. He's GonNa make shot skip that shot that he hit with the clock winding down on the right foot. I note most guys right handed shoot that shot Dirk Nowitzki made famous what he shot off his left leg I've never seen right hand guy shoot that shot up the up the wrong foot. I mean, 'cause we shoes tonight expected to go in everybody that's a bad shot clock winding up I expected to go in but I did not expect the Lakers to look this flat. We've haven't seen them even even against a Portland skip the first game even against the rockets the first game they didn't look this flat they I'm like broad do realize the western conference finals. you mentioned it a D. Two rebounds and they came in the last five minutes of the Game Hey deeply forty-three minutes. Avail one rebound white one rebuilt. If you tell me skill that the nuggets will out rebounded again by nineteen. If you tell me, they're going to turn the ball over the Lakers. I'm going to say the nuggets going to win the series, but I don't believe that I believe Lebron ad will play better I. Believe Lebron will be more aggressive because I thought the second the second in the third quarter. Eighty go it and it seemed like Lebron was designed to say you know what you gotta go hey, we're gonNA keep going. But skipped ahead, given up so much ground they had dug themselves. So much of a whole maybe if they don't allow get a eighteen twenty, maybe ten twelve now they can complete the comeback but I thought the Lakers played like a team that was looked. Like they didn't have they had a away game and if through this game away but what are the process what you've done if that you giving these guys confidence because now they think they can beat you they do they feel like Murray for sure thinks he can be yes and he's talking like He. SHOULD BE UP TWO GAMES TO ONE IS I've seen story before the thing is with this guy when he gets hot and. Those lash those last second shot because I saw him in game seven you remember the clock out of both have and he throwing up three's from twenty five from thirty feet and he switching. So he has confidence in their gaining companies but the problem that also has get, you can't have every guy that played for the nuggets with the exception of to a temp equal to or more free throws they Lebron James that tells. Me He's not getting he's not driving the ball. He's not aggressive enough or they're not calling it. So for me, that was the different. They just lacked intensity. They came out like a team that was too low and had the game to throw away I. Expect I know for certain and I'm going I, don't care I. don't care what the line he'll. I won't do on it right now you do I won't do right now.

"Things matter this team. Maybe you don't like maybe people are saying oh the Lakers are unlikeable because they because they're a threat and in that way. It's kind of a good thing, right? They hate tells you that they're doing something right if people around the league are saying they're not very likable that tells you that they don't want to lose this Lakers team. Think about how many people hated Kobe? Hated him. He did those Laker squads with Shaq and Kobe completely hated them wanted to see fail. So so badly. And yet they couldn't get they weren't able to put a stop to that Lakers run. That's what matters sometimes that hate tells you that you're doing something. Right? And I think that's what this little Narrative of. Oh this Lakers team is unlikable really comes down to the Lakers are doing something right but from a fan perspective. I look at this Lakers team and I think yes Celtics fans are going to hate them fans of other teams are going to hate them. They're going say, oh they're unlikable. But I look at this squad as somebody who watched the lungs odd ball Brandon Ingram Lakers, watch the whole rebuilding era watch teams. That didn't get along all that. Well watch teams that just didn't click on the court. They had personalities. That didn't mesh track coaches that didn't know how to get the best out of their players all the time. One thing after another front-office mistakes. This season for me for most Lakers fans has been a breath of fresh air because we finally seen that cohesion to me. This is felt like Lakers basketball for the first time in a long long time. So some people like Bill Simmons may see the Lakers as unlikeable. And that's okay. Maybe they don't like the Lakers but I think if you're looking at them objectively and again, I'm not objective. I'm I'm certainly biased here. But if you're looking at this team and you look at them as individuals and as a unit, I think there's a lot to admire about what they've accomplished this season and maybe it's going to lead them a championship and maybe it's not but regardless this team has accomplished some really amazing things this season and I think that's something that not enough people are really recognizing. Yes. They're good on the basketball court, but you look what they've done in terms of their chemistry their actions as human beings you look at their ability to come together as quickly as they did to stand up for each other to play for each other off of them rallied around Kentavious Caldwell-Pope when he couldn't make a lay-up in the first few games of the season and there they were there was this team propping him up supporting him. This has been a fun bunch to watch and I think there's a heck of a lot to like about this year's Los Angeles Lakers. All right guys, let me know what you think fired off in the comments down below and.

"Time, but I feel like even though though it's an entire season in L. I didn't completely erase that. I felt like the first game back after Kobe died. That's when that went away. That's when LeBron really being a cab or Lebron really being a Miami Heat was gone. LeBron is a Laker. The speech that he gave the Staple Center crowd that night to me that pushed LeBron into the family of Lakers Nation. Anybody who was holding out at that point now needed to see LeBron as one of our own people talk about Anthony Davis, you know, you surrendered all these young assets. He's not a guy that you drafted. Did they draft Shack? Did they draft Wilt Chamberlain? Did they offer Kareem? No. That's not historically the way Lakers have built teams. And maybe we were spoiled by Kobe all along. Right and we saw Kobe even though Kobe technically was traded for but we saw Kobe from an eighteen-year-old kid did grow up become a man become a father become an MVP become a champion. All of these things happened before our eyes. That's not the norm though. That's not the normal relationship between a fan base and a player and that's what makes Kobe Kobe. That's why nobody's ever going to replace them. LeBron was never brought in to replace him. Anthony Davis wasn't brought into her. Mom Ko B. Nobody's going to do that. And yet we still have some fans who look at LeBron as this Outsider. Look at Anthony Davis as an outsider because the Lakers had to trade for him know of anything. I think what they've had to go through this season from stopping due to covid-19. But this is a likable Squad people like The Underdogs was the likelihood that this Lakers team would come together and day one. They would have the chemistry that they showed that they would be able to work together as a unit that everybody would understand their role right from the get-go How likely was that to happen? I was in predicting and I didn't see anybody else who was who was thinking that the Lakers were going to be the number one seed in the Western Conference. Most people said it was going to take a lot it was going to take some building. There were going to be some bumps in the road some trials and tribulations in order to get where they are right now. Chemistry isn't something that just magically comes together when you put enough talented people on One Squad we've seen that we know it we've lived through that we lived through the Kobe Dwight Powell Steve Nash voelker's that happened. We know that sometimes all the talent of world doesn't matter if the chemistry is not there and yet this Laker Squad found a way to find chemistry right away home and I think that's impressive and then you look at the individual stories..

"Home for everything Lakers. And today. I want to talk to you a little bit about comment that was made about your Lakers recently and it got me thinking about a few different things that involve the Lakers and how likeable they actually are in the general NBA audience little bit different format than our typical YouTube videos here. Usually there's some bit of news that I'm going to break down. You know this player said this and is how it applies to the Lakers. We look at everything through purple and gold lenses. You guys hear me say that all the time but today this is going to be almost more mini podcast format before I dive into these comments though. Quick reminder do subscribe right here to the Lakers Nation YouTube channel and don't forget bring that notification Bell right over there. All right. So Bill Simmons of the Rings who let me preface this by saying that I like Bill Simmons. I would not be sitting here right now if it weren't for Bill Simmons his writing Captivate wage. When he was with ESPN as soon as he published something new it was an automatic drop what you're doing sit down and read this I loved his style of writing. I really appreciated what he did there were times when I tried to emulate Bill Simmons style as a as writer and so he was somebody who captivated me very early and got me involved in this and this whole business he along with several other people like Mark Steyn also have ESPN who had read all the time and reading these guys coming up it made me want to be like them and want to emulate their lifestyle and their their level of analysis and it made me push to make myself better and better and better and so I don't want to disparage Bill Simmons too much or anything here, but he is known as a Celtic song writing me. That's that's where he grew up. That's what he knows. He's in L now, but he knows the Boston Celtics, right? Like that's that's his team and that's fine. Right? We're obviously not going to agree with that, but he made some comments about the Lakers jersey. Is podcast and by the way, I like him a lot better as a writer than I do as a TV personality or has a podcast. I'm not saying he's bad at those things by any means but I'm just saying he's that good of a writer off but on his podcast he made a comment about how the Lakers are just not likeable and you look at the four teams that are left. You look at the Miami Heat you look the Boston Celtics you look at the Denver Nuggets and the Lakers and Simmons says, oh it's the Lakers that are constantly complaining about calls and all of this stuff and I just don't agree and obviously I'm going to be biased. Like I said, we look at everything through purple and gold mines here. This is my my job is to cover the Lakers and if it wasn't I would still be paying attention to Lakers basketball because I grew up around this team. I'm very fortunate that I get to cover the team that I legitimately long and I hope that comes out and everything that I do but Simmons taking a shot at the Lakers now, It just felt a little bit flat to me. It bothered me a little bit because of what this team has done this season because of the challenges this team has overcome and forget it..

"And right now the Dodgers are perhaps going to beat the Houston Astros that looks like it's a really close one top of the page right now and the Astros. Do you have a runner in scoring position? But the Dodgers are up 5 to 4. So we'll see if the Dodgers can hang in there but it would be great to see two wins over Houston on the same night by to La team. So let's go home. How about that? Let's get this thing done, especially after you know, the Astros and the cheating scandal and all that. Let's get the Lakers did have twenty turnovers on the night. Can you so the Rockets only had 12 turnovers wage. That was the worst part of the Lakers night was the turnovers. They give up 16 points off 20 turnovers. Can you imagine what this game would have been like if the Lakers had given up on more normal number of turnovers this this game would have been over even like they would have probably won by forty. I mean, we're up pretty much by Thirty and when you factor in the terminals you're talking about. Yeah like that. It's almost shocking because if you have they took care of them. A little more. I mean it could have been a 40-point lead that just goes to show you how in control we were of this game really, you know what I mean? Like it just it was a stress-free night for us all around it, you know just walk more thing on that on that balanced approach we had tonight. I love you. In fact that everybody got involved because that's much more heart. You know what I mean? Like it's easy to focus in easier to focus in when you're just focusing on cruise or somebody else. That's hot but man when everybody's doing their thing goodness gracious. Yeah. It's definitely a lot more difficult to defend on the night the Lakers shoot 53% from the field The Rock to 37% the Lakers shoot 51% from Deep the rocket shoot 27% How about that about that? I was yeah, like we beat them at their own game, you know, and the Houston got more points at the at rim side. They got to the basket much more but you know, a lot of that actually might have been transitioned now that you mention it from those turnovers to take a job. Yeah, if you're looking at this the fast break points Houston had 36 the Lakers at thirty-four. So Houston was getting some buckets in transition in the paint there. And so that adds up pretty quick. But yeah, I mean to shoot that way against jackets team, I think was pretty clear the Rockets were ready to go home the rebounding battle 5231 in favor of the Lakers. Let's go. All right. Pop out that small..

"There's not a ton of major offense and mistakes that I think our offensive changes that we're going to see the blazers making this next round in his next game. I. Think they're GonNa wind up just doing what they can to get lillard going because that's kind of what they have to do. That at the way, the Lakers out the way they're playing defense on the guards been pretty effective more effective this game obviously than the last but you know they've been really kind of shutting down you know and back giving him an open lane to the basket, and like you said, closing out on shoots so Yeah I mean that's the Lakers defense has been very good but the Lakers defense has been very versatile as well. They've been doing what they need to do in order to you're not gonNA contain Lillard, but at least make life tough on him and same thing with mccollum they've been doing what they need to do there and that's part of that is credit. Danny. Green. Part of that is credited contagious pope to Alex Caruso. They've been doing a nice job and this blazers team like we said I feel like they are slowing down a little bit especially. Tonight, we saw like they're looking a little bit tired and with games coming every other day, there's not going to be a whole lot of time for them to really really rest up. Let's see eljay cares from facebook. Say congrats Detroit Chris for doing a job. And Hey, it's Trevor's Tattoo is lit to. Show us. Well that's is my sleeve in progress. So it's I'm working. I'm working on I. GotTa do this next. That's coming next but I think not till December my next appointment is so working on it. Stephen Lopez here's an easy one. Chris Stephen Lopez from facebook says, are you a Lakers Fan Chris? Why brother I bleed purple and gold born and raised in Los Angeles going back to the showtime era with magic and that whole thing. So yeah man I'm a born and raised Angelino and a lifelong Laker fans..

"There were a couple of times where he grabbed a rebound tonight where I went. Wow that was that was just a pure hustle rebound that he that he pulled down to. That's that's Alex Caruso. That's him. In a nutshell we shot one of four. All four shots were threes made one of them. Five boards three assists one steal so solid performance from him over all. I. So here's a comment coming in and I'm sorry I can't. I can't read the name here. I would just absolutely butcher it, but it's from periscope says can't wait for the game adjustments for next game. All right. So here's the thing. Oh we're get comments coming in from facebook that are agreeing with you. Chris. Saying they love crucial heart. The adjustments. That's the thing about the playoffs is one team of US than the other team adjust to those adjustments, and then there's adjustments to the adjustments to the adjustments AAC back and forth. So Portland is GonNa do some things to try to counter with the Lakers did tonight and I didn't think of the Lakers did a lot a lot of things different on the defensive end of the floor tonight I thought they stuck. With what was working and it worked again, I thought there was more energy. There was a little bit more focused to getting out to shooters paid off for them. The Lakers on the offensive end, they did work to make sure they were getting Anthony Davis touches below the free throw line same thing with Lebron James. We sell the Brown in the post with shooters all around him and that opened up a lot of spacing. So I would be surprised to see Portland throws some wrinkles in like if I may. Anthony Davis and if I'm the Lakers coaching staff I'm probably expecting the double team to come hard next game. Yeah I mean it seems like especially after eighties performance tonight I mean that would be the most sensible adjustment because he doesn't always make great decisions out of a double team sometimes he gives up the ball or those of all the way so. That's a good point I would. I. Would expect especially again thirty one points tonight and just the way he kinda commanded the floor I don't think you have a choice but to. Try, to take that away from the Lakers. So we'll see how they can do with that. Yeah. Yeah that that's it. Exactly. That's it. Exactly. The anytime of team's GonNa take something away from you. They're going to give up something else. So let's say they do Double Team Anthony Davis if Casey is hitting his threes if Danny Green gets going, they could really punish the blazers for for doing that and speaking of punishing the Blazers I was so so happy to see the Lakers punish the blazers for running the two bags most teams don't do that right now why?.

"Don't think that's in doubt right I mean we were heading into this game talking about changing up the starting lineup that's out the window right now you are not changing the starting lineup after what we just saw. Correct. Yeah I mean Casey. He was Kokin man I mean that was our biggest problem with the last game man by. The. starting lineup was cooking. They didn't have a slow start I mean are only was like a our we. How can we not? Score a basket in the first five minutes. What's going on with Danny Green you can't have. Grown greenstone playing well. So if you can't have Danny, green and kcpt not playing well because. Of Our guard right you know really really kind of his lungs. One of those guards it's Kim when it comes to it because you know the broad being forward. Thinking forward I guess you know you just need one of those guards token not seems like we'll be all right. Yeah. Yeah. That's it. You need one guy at least space the floor while and you saw the difference that it made. So Portland Strategy in game one and we went over this last night but Portland strategy in game one was to pack the paint, make the Lakers prove. They can hit shots because they've struggled making shots in the bubble it worked for Portland last game the Lakers shot fifteen point six percent from three. So they put it in whiteside and together as a twin towers dual in the Lakers could not punish them. For it, they didn't hit open shots. Tonight was different tonight they knocked down the open shots and suddenly you saw things start to open up the middle because the blazers defenders went. Oh No KCPT's spotting up from behind the ARC I'd better get out on him instead of Oh they're spotting up from behind the ARC. Let them shoot because they're missing anyway it changes everything an open things up for Anthony Davis to work in the paint opens things up for Lebron driving driving to the rim. It's. It's so so critical for the space in the modern NBA that you've got shooters that can spread the floor and tonight the Lakers had that but. We do need to talk carols are Bono said tonight was magical to be honest. Yeah..

"Go check them out joining me today we have Alan Leeward from ESPN follow me on twitter at Allen's Lihua Allen made. It's been too long. How're you doing? is going on I mean, did you say we have first round of of MBA playoffs coming up I it still doesn't register to me not all there for me. Yeah it's crazy. It's been six seasons somehow since we've seen the Lakers in the playoffs. I'm Giddy. At this point I can't believe that we're finally here through everything through covert and everything else that we've seen. Now the Lakers are back in the playoffs and they've got to deal with the good pretty good Portland Trailblazers team. I love it. Actually you know it's it's kind of interesting as a fan. You always WANNA. You know we could say, well, you don't want the easiest path. You know you'll hear that a lot and I'm a Mike Nive I've been pretty good with the Lakers if we can get an easy path couple couple matchups that are favorable to us we'll take them but I know what it was I feel like the Lakers need the blazers in the first round like I feel like they need a little bit of a wake up call to kind of. Just, get go. You know we've been. We know they've been in Orlando now for Lyle, but at the same time on, really had much to play for. So I have I. Think we're in for some good basketball in the next couple of weeks. So you're of the mindset it sounds like Allen that you think that they will raise their games up to the challenge that the blazers bring being Damian Lillard and CJ mccollum I've been been thinking along. Gave me the easiest past path to the finals. GimMe the grizzlies or whoever, and I'm beginning called out quite a bit by Lakers fans who have been saying saying, no if you're a true shape and you should be able to deal with anybody but I liked the your take your you're looking at the positive side thinking this is what's GonNa Kinda snap the Lakers out of the funk that there were only three and five in bubble play. Lie I don't think you know was Memphis in the first round. Travel where you'RE GONNA get up for that for I mean just from like a fan perspective. Yes we're going to enjoy it but you're thinking about from a player's perspective where they going to jump out of bed tomorrow morning and say, Wow, it's playoff basketball like our lives are on the line I. Don't think they were having Poland kind of changes that for them you know Portland's been i. Don't have to vote the way they've been playing what they had to accomplish to obviously just get to where they are and be a part of the postseason but I'm okay with it I think it's GonNa be I like the fact that we're going to get right out of the gates of good exciting. Basketball Lakers left to be on top of their game the guards are GonNa have.
