"Civic terms, conditions under my farmer struck a fire insurance changes our affiliate, the Giants hired a new coach that no one's ever heard of. There's a question out there. I'm sure a lot of people are asking. Who am I? Let's give him a warm Philly welcome. Eagles giants Thursday night football cover and starts Six on your whole by the Eagles Sports Radio 94. Well, Joe Judge, the Giants coach is well aware Philadelphia from here having he gets it. Ah, and I actually really like the way that guy presented himself at his press conference when he joined the Giants. Actually, I'm sort of in a roundabout way rooting for that guy, But I can't run for the Giants. So I mean, what is the guy? It's a division up for grabs. We know that Let's go out of this ward skeleton. Guess land right now. If you injured at work, get justice calls towards Culliton at 800 Justice talked to our next guest joins us every Tuesday at this time is the host of the Ross Tucker football podcasts. And of course you can follow his work on Twitter at Ross Tucker NFL. Mr Ross, Doctor. What's up, Ross? Hey, fellas, How are you? Hi, Ross. Wonderful man. You know the Eagles. They're still alive. One foreign one and they've got a great shot, You know? You know what It's It sounds weird to say, and I know our expectations are higher. And they should be. But given the way the season started, and certainly the lost the Washington the tie against the Bangles. In some weird way When you consider that at the end of the game on Sunday, they had two starters still left from the from the opener. I mean, Literally. Jason, Kelsey and Carson wants That's it down three wide receivers their top three receivers down their top two tight ends down seven of their top eight offensive lineman. The way they kept battling. We all wish they were better. And this isn't like Pop Warner, right? There's no like moral victories. But I will say that the team in general and Carson Wentz in particular. They at least represent Philadelphia. In terms of the fight and what we want to see from them. You know, I grew up here. You guys know the way it is. Nobody wants to lose, but they'd almost rather Guys going out there spilling their guts to try to win like whence does then you know guys not putting everything out there. Maybe they win. But the guy's not given the full effort and you can see it so they did. They have given us the Niners win. The Steelers game. The Ravens game when I mean, I thought they were going to lose the Ravens by 40 Point it really it looked like it was going to be an all time bad loss. And then they write it the shift to the point where it became competitive, Rose. Let's get to this because, well, that's request. Doug was asked this and I'm curious your answer to this. Why do they have success offensively? Carson in the second half. And week after week struggle in the first half. And how can they unmarked That? A really good question, and I'm not sure I have a great answer to it. Other than It feels like It's a little bit less programmed in the second. No question, you know. This school is back. So Frank Reich and John de Filipo. If you remember 2017, they're like scripted plays. They would score every week. Every week. It seemed like they score on their 1st and 2nd. Dr. They'd have the lead, and that's why they were also Russ. Isn't that what well coached teams do like I watched the 40 Niners go out against the Rams and drive it right down their throats to start the game, well coached team. Like I feel like that gives me confidence in the staff offensively speaking when that happens, and the fact that it doesn't happen for us, that's a real knock. Well, and you're right. It is a knock. It's not good, because it's actually been like three years now, right? 18 19, and this year where it doesn't seem like they ever score on their first drive, and I don't you know it's funny. John. I guess you could do it. Either way, you could say that they don't do a good job during the week of preparing that the 1st 15 the script. The guy's getting the hotel the night before the game, or you could flip it the other way. And say it shows that Doug Peterson and his staff make good halftime adjustments. I mean, you could. You could spend that one. Either way. I don't know. Well, if you came back at me with a good halftime adjustments, I would say well in these last couple of games, the teams we were playing felt like thegame was that in hand? And they eased off. Well, it's certainly it's certainly an issue and look, it's the reason why a big reason why the record hasn't been as good the last couple years as it was in 17. It's a lot easier to play with the lead. You know, the D line like the team is set up. To play with a lead because of how much they have invested in the D line. The D lines not there to be trying to stop for minute offense is late in the game. It's just not. It's just not the way they're they're designed. Hi Ross. Talk with us. Let's go to the phones Right now. We'll mix and calls while we talk to Ross about all these eagles issues, talk to his son in South Philly. Hey, his son. I know. And I'm sorry. All good buddy. Doing well, man. All you had was one of the new common more..

"For all your exercise we've got seventy five dollars gift bag they're gonNa, be giving away today because we're going to a question mark so that'll be a little bit later in the program. So if you haven't already your question we got we must have thirty forty, fifty questions in here Mike already so and I just sent the tweet out I don't know ten minutes ago. So we'll answer those questions and then the winner deemed by Mike we'll send you a seventy five dollar gift bag from the great folks over tweet sweat also super book America's greatest bed or America's best bet super book we will do We'll. We'll do some well kicking your ass in the picks again, but we will do that later on the week but thanks to super book for that. So Mike, how are you buddy? I'm good and normally. I want to focus on the greatness you know. Praise those that are doing well, right. But I have to admit the NFC East right now for me it's kind of like a car wreck. I mean it's horrible. It's grisly grisly grisly grisly grisly grisly is this stuff you get on a chicken bone? That's right like that's scrabble now gristle. Grizz? Grizzly. I think I am not like a grizzly bear. It's just right I. Think I made of grisly like it's like there's nothing I am like I am like a grilled chicken bone I'm crystal I'm made of grisly. League. There's nothing I may end up in surgery and I may end up you know with a little hitch and my get along but I made a grisly but the NFC east. It's so bad. Oh my God the cowboys. That was that was a national embarrassment what they submitted on Monday night and yet they fatally the division they still lead the division I. It is so bad. So this week in is you know I did Giants. Washington. By the way, you'd be very proud of me. I did not refer to them as the our word one time. Whenever even offer you since you played there I know in it never even rolled like I just started with Washington every time a couple of times I got caught said Washington football team, but never even I never start with over. You know sometimes. You catch yourself no. Never not one time. Like always chargers game. I've A. I've eliminated the SD word from my vocabulary as you well know. So that will never happen again because that were no longer exists in the marshland lexicon it it's been it's been bank wished is at the right word vanquish. Yes. Good word. Here's the deal. Yeah. You're right. The the cowboys are a national embarrassment and I understand that they've been injured did matter they were bad before they got injured they were bad before the Dak Prescott injury. So I get that. They got their ask it. I mean, they're ask kicked by an Arizona team which I happen to be calling this weekend and I'm watching the film right now. Now, I'm going to pump the brakes on what I've watched thus far because I've broken down one game the game before Monday night, which was against the jets and the jets aren't a real football team. So all you jet fans my Guy Mike Greenberg who I worked with for Years Sixteen years on Mike and Mike. Had a weekly spot on Mike and Mike for Sixteen years. My Guy Mike Greenberg, they're not a real football franchise. Get. Much argument from him or jets fans about that. Okay. they are not looking to stick the needle in there I don't think you're. Going to bite. Yeah, I mean they know they're more of an annoyance you know like. Anal, how like you're mowing your lawn? Right and you're cruising through your lawn and then you roll over doctored. Son of a bitch look I didn't even I thought I picked up all the dog crap right and then as you turn your lawnmower come back the other way you try to line up tire because in the little. He landed in get the on the bottom of the tire and then instead of just picking it up and you know and rotating you try to sly the front of the you know what I'm saying just to see how much turn you can slide out. Of the of the tire that's the jets. Jets are that occurred that you get on your own on your shoe. When you're walking around, you're like Shit I've got jets on the bottom of my shoe, and then you try to rub it off and but you never get it all out of the nooks and crannies like that's I feel bad for this kind of a roundabout colorful wave, you saying that the jets are shed which You. Just let with right you've been buying right here's the thing about the jets you probably should put them in the NFC east. Look date they beat. They'd fit right in and the cowboys are embarrassment. Here's what I'll say. The giants at one and five. What the worst division winning record has ever been. You'll probably set that record this year. Ten might win the division. Five and eleven my windows. Division. But I'M GONNA lay out there right now. I have done the giants twice. This year. So I have literally broken down watched. Like hardcore breakdown of all I, think of their six games I've done a hardcore deep dive into the what they are Five of their six games K. They, are getting better on a week to week basis. I mean, Joe Judge has their ear they are. They're well coached. Now they make mistakes physically and mentally, but they are a well coached team, and some of that is just because from talent standpoint they have not. You know they're not there yet. But I keep watching them. Get Better I. Keep watching the physicality grow I, keep watching them trying to establish an identity Joe judge their head coach. told me their identity is were grimy were ugly. We're not ever GONNA win pretty. We're going to try to physically beat you up. They've got a defensive line Mike with Leonard Williams and Dexter Lawrence I believe is his name and and and Tomlinson in the they've got a d line that can flat play..

"It is not just this time Chris is back after not being here for the quick takes episode, we are already transitioning to the Philadelphia Eagles, the giants next opponent as we typically do, we will usually break down the previous games film sadly, because of short week a Thursday night football game against the eagles, we don't have the ability to break down this previous win against the Washington football team. Before we get into this discussion though Chris I'm just curious to hear your thoughts. It was pretty nice to see the giants finally win a game albeit they were a hair build out by that. Aggressive decision by Ron Rivera Gopher to a win is a win on the less. The defense played phenomenal on a number of plays especially on that two point conversion and that take crowd or touchdown recovery. What are your thoughts on the on the on that victory because didn't get to hear from you after the game it's nice to finally get one I think the giants got the right team at the. Right time and my thoughts aren't too in-depth because I didn't really get a chance to watch the game Basically by had a family commitment, my parents renewed their wedding vows after thirty five years and I was asked to be the ring bearer and that's not exactly a thing you can turn down for the giants perspective. Great to finally get a win was a nail biter I. Think you kind of. Joe Judge Said so after the game, you have to expect that Ron Rivera is going to be aggressive. You Know Riverboat Ron. And in that moment, I do think going for two was the right. That is the right call. They're just go ahead go win it outright because I think players want to see that kind of aggression they wanNA their coach. Calling. The game to win but the giants up with the play they needed. And especially get touched yet a touchdown by take router that something they needed because otherwise, they only had thirteen points of their own on offense. So, it will be interesting. To see whether or not, the giants can carry any momentum from that. Win On the short week short turnaround with a very young team, a brand new head coach going against a veteran team with a veteran head coach. I think the one takeaway we need to have from this Chris is we need you to have more excuses to not Around on Sundays, because the one time that you're not here, the giants ended up winning and it's the one time that we can't have that discussion after the game of Hey, the giants finally won I had to do it on my own but now obviously glad that we have you back Chris for today's breakdown of the Philadelphia Eagles a team that is significantly. Underperforming but at the same time have had a buzzsaw of schedule early on their last two games against the Pittsburgh steelers and then this past week of all teams that you WANNA face after a tough loss against Pittsburgh, you have to deal with the Baltimore. Ravens in the mark. Jackson a very narrow loss for them. Thirty to twenty, eight, a game that also. Involved a failed two point conversion that in acted the final outcome when we discussed the players to know the very first player and we have a tendency to do this to always bring up the quarterback Carson Wentz is a bit different than Kyle Allen Slash Alex Smith and also nick mullins and some of the other guys that we've had to talk about Mitch. trubisky this is very different. Carson wentz is a very talented quarterback who right now just seemingly is visibly trying to do too much with a limited roster around him to support him. Yeah. Yeah. It seems anytime the giants faced the eagles anymore. They're catching the eagles when they're just being devastated by injury right now I'm honestly not sure I could name any. Of the eagles starting offensive line, they are just getting hit left right and center by injuries and their wide receiving core is getting beat up. It has almost no depth. You can see in their game tape Carson wentz just Okay. Looks like I'm GonNa have to win this game on my own and it kind of is that way form right now? You can see in his performances he really aggressive enforcing passes into situations that might not particularly be there right now he has nine interceptions on the season that is not a very good start to the year for him despite being a guy that could statistically. Put up some gaudy numbers we have to also mention the emergence of an underrated playmaker for them. We haven't seen a large enough sample size to determine if this guy will become a consistent for the eagles but over the past two games, he's looked pretty good. especially a huge game against the steelers being travis full gum, and then also if they possibly have the Shawn Watson back for this Thursday night game. It's looking like that's going to happen. Those are two of their better receivers right now for this eagles team no Jalen Rieger as of right now from what I understand, but a full game has been able to step in into an emerging role. Yeah. I, don't think anybody saw him coming. We had mentioned him as a guy the giants might WanNa put in a waiver wire claim for final cut downs. But he's got good size a six to about two fifteen. He's got good hands. He runs good routes reasonably athletic. He can make some plays with the ball in his hands. He has more or less come out of nowhere to be a really good all around weapon for the Eagles over the last couple of weeks. Pretty quickly became their number one receiving target and. From what I saw he plays pretty much everywhere in their offense. He's a guy the giants defense is going to have to keep track he lines up on the left on the right in the slot I've even seen him lineup in the backfield a few times so. That's something the giants are definitely going to have to keep an eye on. One thing's for sure Chris with this team. In twenty twenty, they have dealt with a stupid amount of injuries and we have seen a number of teams. This year be decimated by injury problems. The injury bug had hit the forty niners right before the giants play them, and now they're facing the eagles who are arguably may be worse off than the forty niners were their offensive line is completely picked apart Jason. Kelsey is the only guy that I really can point to as a returner and a good veteran on this lineup if. Lean Johnson doesn't play who's been in and out of the of the starting lineup Jack Driscoll then plays right tackle the right guard nate her big and then also jim on round was recently added to play the left guard not to mention the fact that they're using a guy who has barely played football Jordan may Lada former rugby player is playing left tackle for them so they are a complete makeshift unit a overall lack of consistency at wide receiver as I mentioned the rookie and the dynamic rookie Jalen regular being out with. Injury over this period of time having different guys sliding in and out of the lineup. The big reason why this team has not performed well is that they lack depth they've horrible depth some teams like the forty niners can have guys step up and do very very well. But this eagles team does not have guys that are capable of filling in and stepping up to the occasion we are seeing all of these players that have to fill in become liabilities for the eagles. Yeah and that I think is, what is why we are seeing? Carson wentz press. So hard to trying to do everything he can in honestly too much to try to win these games. He has been I think I. Think I saw he had been hit forty times going into the Baltimore game and then Baltimore sack him another six times he he has just been under siege in the backfield trying to wade through just waves of pass rushers from teams like the steelers and the Ravens and he is making desperation throws trying to find. Open wide receivers whose name isn't full them. They are just in a difficult spot with their offense because of all these injuries, it's something we saw when the giants played them last year and really it's it's a position. We've seen the giants offense in as well. going back to like that stretch from twenty twelve to twenty fifteen when the giants were the NFL's injury dynasty. Then again in two thousand, seventeen when they're wide receiving corps just got wiped out one game. It's going to be interesting to see. How Philadelphia? Copes on the short turnaround end whether or not they get to Sean Jackson back what he is able to do for them that short turnaround I think has to be factored into this as well. You have some guys that are possibilities to play this upcoming Thursday were recording this on Monday. So we're. Very ahead on. Decisions for these injuries but if certain guys can't play because it's not a normal week, then they're going to have to continue with this already, very, very thin unit at offensive line in also at receiver and I think that that then. Rolls into why Carson Wentz is not doing very well. I frankly stand by the the thought process that if you think that Carson Wentz is not performing well because he is just making mistakes I, think that that's a little bit lazy..

"ESPN radio is presented by Progressive Insurance Today is for doing and today one of the New York football team's gonna win. I mentioned in the previous segment of the NFC East was like a car that was on fire hurtling towards a cliff. Giants this season is like one of the wheels falling off, However, yesterday they barely got by the Washington football team who's like the broken windshield you could barely see through who wrote this? With 30 seconds to go. The football team was able to score in a pile in 22 yard touchdown pass the camps in Washington while down 20 to 19 decided to go for two and a potential win but failed to convert. Joe Judge earns his first victory as Giantshead coach, Bo teams remain firmly entrenched in the mix. Today is for doing and it's brought to you by the Home depot with everything you need to do projects smarter, faster and easier. Welcome to today's Home Depot. How doers get more done. We're trying to locate Bob Ryan will probably have to wait until tomorrow. We are in a position here where it might be Los Angeles that wins two championships during the single weirdest sports lifetime sports year in our lifetime, or it might be Tampa Bay. Two wins two championships in the single weirdest year of our sports lifetime example, could make it a third with Brady. Well, Tampa is in position to make it a third. So, too, is Jared Golf. So, too, is just in the Herbert Forgive me for not knowing this person's name, but you were mentioning New York football. The reporter Manish Meta, my pronouncing that correctly, Manish Meta right, that Adam gazes Mohr than a bad NFL head coach. He is a malignant, duplicitous president. Consistently trashes his own players, coaches and front office behind the scenes to shield himself from blame a cancer who must be removed right now, Hashtag Take flight. I have never understood better than now. How it is. That's still gots it. Adam Gator friend Miss out on my prediction isn't on service to God isn't unfair. Totally fair, but But here here is the thing I keep trying to tell people You want Greg? William? Ifyou're a jet fan, you have to be pleased if it's not going to go well, and it's not okay that it needs to go really, really bad and it is okay. And this is the season you've been waiting for for your entire life. Why would you want Gregg Williams to come in and try to win four games? Right? Try to win four games. Which is enough for you not to have the rights to Trevor Laurence. When you could have Adam Gay, sit there with a bunch of players who don't want to play for him. Don't want a win for him. And he doesn't care sitting up there after during the post game press conference, just taking the criticism to the Jets play Jacksonville this year. Yeah, they must, because they play everyone in the A F. C East Jacksonville does because that game is To be a monster because the Jags air pretty obviously tanking as well. They just manage TTO win in game, but Washington wants in on this game. Washington I don't know why Rob Ron Rivera is out here, saying after the game why he went for two, he says. In order to learn howto win you've always gotta play to win didn't think Washington was playing to win. The Jets don't have the Jaguars. That's the other thing with the Jets. They have the toughest schedule remaining. This's fantastic. S. Oh, that's too bad because we could have had a really Those are the three worst right? It's it's the Jets foreign away. And it's Jacksonville in Washington, right after that, correct like that is Who else do we put in that category of bad? The Bangles? Aren't that category of Houston? Well, yeah, but Houston's gonna win a couple of more games here, you know, just because the quarterback is so talented. Atlanta has one win, but they're too talented. They're goingto win enough games. Chris, you were wondering if I was putting the Jag's in the A F. C. He's no. I thought that because the Dolphins had played the Jags that everyone in the A F. C East was playing the Jags. I thought that that is how I don't know whether it's not different because a pandemic schedule. I've got that wrong. No, you play everybody in your conference from another division that finished the same place you did the previous season. Okay, so I've got it wrong. The teams that scared me the most are the football team and the giant, But the giant stone would be shot if they take a quarterback, right. So why would you be shocked? All of these teams would be moving off of quarterbacks They recently drafted that's government and miss did he was wrong? Did you not see the first segment first Take today. We're writing quarterbacks off to two seasons, then that's usually were cut off. I mean, the Jets are the only team. I mean, they've played six games of, including the teams that have only played five sets of the only team to not reach 100 points on offense. But if Haskins is already done, and if Donald is already done, like, Why wouldn't Daniel Jones be pretty damn close? You're being done. Why? Mann Genius certainly deliver our show on ESPN radio, All right? Hey, I'm Andy. I'm still not famous. But you might remember that I started Harry's because I was tired of overpaying for razors. It always felt like big brands were taking advantage of us. Every time they improve something back then crisis seemed to go up. At Harry's..
Giants believe Ramsey threw 1st punch in melee
"After the game, there was a nasty brawl, starting with Giants receiver Golden Tate and Rams defensive back Jalen Ramsey throwing punches at each other. Ramsey has two kids with Tate sister. They went through a public break up last year and Tate Tweeted At that time that they would see each other and I guess this is what he meant. Neither player spoke to the media after the game. Giants coach Joe Judge declined comment because he said he didn't know all the details. Now
San Francisco 49ers complain about 'sticky' turf at MetLife Stadium after injuries pile up vs. New York Jets
"Explained to me about the playing surface at metlife stadium with the jets giants, and what is the biggest concern what happened during the forty niners jets game on Sunday a lot of lower leg injuries. Some season ending injuries including one suffered by nick boasts of the forty niners defensive and I think that really changes that team dramatically to not have him. The complaints began to come from individual 49ers players saying that there's something wrong with turf that their foot gets stuck in the turf and I started to poke around the giants and the steelers played their six days earlier they had no issues with the turf. From the jets, the response was we were too busy getting our faces kicked into notice anything wrong with the turf but the forty niners had the issue they had the complaint. The League's position is these fields certified they're certified by an independent inspector they're certified by the teams well to me. That's good enough to, and because we've seen plenty of crappy fields. That have been certified certified as being suitable for play. Remember the Fedex fields shows the day they had to paint the Dirt Green for a playoff game, the game where Robert Griffin two thirds a finally went. So I I don't accept that as being positive in the NFL PA has echoed the forty niners concerns that maybe we should take a look at this. What's the harm in reconfirming that everything is fine with this playing? Surface it feels like something more than just sour grapes by the forty niners. There are enough guys complaining about it to to at least raise the question of why not take a closer look and make sure there's nothing wrong with this new playing surface. But what can you do? Can the niners refused to play the giants this weekend? That's what makes it so fascinating usually, what happens is the road team if they have a Problem with the field or not coming back for the rest of the year, they may not be coming back for eight years. If it's an interconference game here, they are seven days later back on the same field and the giants have come out strong JOE judge. Head coach said, we practice throughout training camp. We have no issues at all with this and I don't think the NFL going to get any relief I. Mean we've. Seen in the past where we're field has gotten so bad a teams had to tear it and replace it at New England at one point they had to get rid of the grass and put down field turf but I don't think that's going to happen. I. Think the forty niners will just going to have to deal with it and I don't think the NFL is going to concede that there was an issue with the turf. And they're going to go forward and we'll see what the forty niners players have to say after playing there again, this weekend,
Breaking Down the New York Giants Initial Practice Squad
"Other thing going on with the giants roster is the shaping of their practice squad. We're not gonNA project who we think is going to be on the practice squad because as were recording it, we should receive some type of news by the end of the day Sunday, who is on the practice squad for some reason? You probably noticing this to the giants have been taking their time. To the fullest extreme to put in all this information, their fifty three man roster I think was announced. Ten or fifteen minutes after the required four o'clock deadline. Meanwhile, every other team had already gotten their stuff in before that chalk that up to Dave gettleman and Joe Judge trying to take their time in re be very detailed with it. They also this is official that we already talked about some of the claims but they have claimed offense tackle Jackson, Barton, wide receiver, Damian Rally, and then also safety Adrian Colbert they could either end up on the roster or be pushed to the practice squad. But the one thing that's worth noting and we're GONNA talk about the practice once official on another episode but it's worth noting that this season the practice squad is very. Very unique. It's bigger than it typically is and teams are going to be using it as a shuffling group that if someone gets sick, they can send them home quickly, sign them to come play right away they're gonNA travel. I would bet with most of if not all of these guys and have the bill availability to sign them immediately in the case of an emergency yet honestly to for me, that's kind of a step closer to what the practice squad should be anyway I I've never really liked the practice squad the way it has been where it's limited the guys who can be on it are very limited in the amount experience they can have and. They're really not protected at all. So any team can basically swipe a player off any other teams practice squad on very little notice. and. To me I I really do like these changes to the practice squad rules. The fact that it's bigger that the teams can keep more players around they don't have quite the same constraints on. Experience that we've seen in years past and the fact that they can promote guys from the practice squad to the active roster on basically ninety minutes notice. So I really like the flexibility that that gives teams and I'm sure we're going to be seeing teams take advantage of that this year probably in ways that the NFL isn't exactly planning on. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are certain aspects of this short-term practice squad for this season that are maybe tried to be translated into next year or come next CBS negotiation asked for by the players. So more players can stick around and be retained by their various teams it. It is a lot better like you said, Chris compared to way the way. That they've done it previously, it's better to have more guys if you can carry as many guys as they are allowed to this
"joe judge" Discussed on Mornings with Keyshawn, Jorge & LZ
"When he needed to the most at the age of thirty five scored eight of okays final twelve points including the to go ahead free throws with thirteen point one seconds to go one. Oh, four, one, hundred okay. See is forcing a game seven on Wednesday against the rockets and the P. Three say y'all or No doubt about it and this is interesting Jay was very hot on there. So we're GONNA talk about here this in twenty seconds the Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram capped off a breakthrough season by winning the NBA's most improved player award Monday night he'll turn twenty three tomorrow. So happy early birthday to Brandon Ingram set career highs in points, rebounds assists and steals three point percentage as well, which is obviously very important in this league and free throw percentage. Bama Tobia was the runner up I actually thought he should have wanted who cares what I think Ingram was the second overall pick in the two thousand, sixteen NBA draft and that's the rub for J. will when you are drafted that high in any NBA draft is this the sort of award j you should be trying to win I think you. Probably, feel that's just not something that could go together with somebody that the top two overall pick I mean a lottery pick that actually meets expectations right so I mean number two, pick a we expected Brennan Ingram to have this kind of I expected him to have this kind of season coming sooner or later same way if you're using that same. Terminology same equation as applicable of Brennan Ingram. Then you to use it towards Luca Danni who got rookie of the year last year finish third. Yeah. But now he's actually finished. Now he's actually top five top six, top seven players in the league right I. Think this was a missed opportunity by the league I'm happy that Brandon Ingram gotta ban by. You COULDA gone it. But one of the guy that I thought that I would have loved to see win this award is Devante Graham who plays for the Charlotte Hornets he got dropped to second round draft the two years ago had no numbers for much his rookie year to this year urging eighteen points per game seven and a half assists. Actually was fourth in the NBA in Buzzer beaters had a phenomenal year in. That's a guy most improved. Second round to what he's doing now is a starter to being a stable guy in Charlotte for that team I thought he should. We're on award. He should have definitely got more than two votes for first place. It's good to see. Be I bounced back though I mean he had tough start out there. I. Agree. With that. He had a tough start in L. A. Obviously going through coaching changes and all sorts of stuff, and then you know when you look at Luca, Luca played overseas as thirteen year old kind of grew up playing men basketball. So he's not. Even know he's young in the NBA game. He's not young and pro basketball right where Ingram went to college and it's a little bit different but it's good to see. Them. Bounce back and have the type of year that he had. I'm just saying that the argument that people are using for Brennan Ingram, who is the second pick in the draft and I'm happy that he wanted. But once again, he met expectations anyway Luca Danni as a top pick in the draft has met expectations. You know who is not meeting expectations I don't think people expect Bam. Out By, you to be this good and that's why I thought he I. Definitely don't think people expected Devante Graham you know w is going to be just a role player to being a a starter in the league averaging eighteen in seven and a half assists a game that was a phenomenal trajectory is most improved player in the NBA much like a comeback player year type is that. I kind of I I. Guess. No so it must have you must have. Got A guy like Siaka has wanted in the past right it's it's sometimes the harbinger to lift off. You can be the harbinger tipped off. I mean Luca finished third after all agree we're all I'm saying is devante Graham getting only two first place votes absurd.

"On in week one against the steelers on Monday night football you're watching us any ESPN news we have some accessorising to discuss real quick on a more serious note the late. Great. John Thompson died yesterday we're GONNA. Talk to Jim Boeheim has longtime adversary at Syracuse a little bit later in the program. Look forward to that in Jay is wearing distinctive white towel that Thompson always used to have over one of his shoulders I know Barkley. Did it last night on Turner and I think it's a it's a great little memento to of Pale module to. A. Guy that probably deserved a lot more credit than he got in the moment I also want to say this about John Thompson. Yes. He he helped a lot of kids from inner city have an opportunity to go to a school like Georgetown right and play basketball. But check out his graduation rate for players at St for years it was extremely extremely high over ninety seven. I think that's one of the things that people miss out. Everybody Magli goes back to what he did on the basketball court but he also pushed young brothers to achieve academically, which set them up for success after school and Kishan J. Will Zubin. Coming to you live from the seaport district at pier seventeen were brought to you by Heineken if you're watching us on ESPN news I'm also accessorising today. I lost a bet. Did essentially thought me. Okay. Well, come island on Friday, we thought luko would carry the mavericks over the Clippers. I was wrong. nope. So Jay came over this morning and adding to my lexicon. I'd never heard of the word wave cab before this morning. If you're watching a do rag do rag if you're watching this morning, this is actually a do rag. The blood flow to my brain is turning this into a red dragon. Too tight some sweating just a little bit. I just want to mention key is a morning radio host for years in La. So in case I pass out. To pass it off how do you think he got the wave so tight? See those things. Judy burying that hair man I got three hours to go with this thing. Hopefully, I can make it. Hopefully the bucks are going to be able to turn this thing around. This is stunning. I want to hear this from Kendrick Perkins joined us yesterday on. K. J. Z. Want to get your thoughts on this key. As soon as you hear big perk essentially saying and predicting that Miami would be able to upend the box in game one. To me believe, if supposed to got the recipe, we got multiple bodies that he could throw a Yang. You look at a guy like J. Cobble and I thought was the stealing that Andre Equal dollar trade and then you've got Bama, the by you got. Equal download you have Jimmy Butler. They know they run back spray back in transition and they loathe the touch and they take away his job and guess in on the Office of being, for Miami, they light it up from three dollars, a hero Duncan Roberson going you all those guys get hot even cry who's shooting pretty good right now in the play offs over fifty percent, they could get hot and that's Milwaukee give up is three point shots they load up the pain and they make you say, good point shots and that's what Landau was getting. They just wasn't making big credit to big park when he wakes up and joins us on time he's pretty good. Operative. We, love you. When you think about it, he makes sense know everything he's saying does make sense I think when you look at Jimmy Butler you you understand what they're allowing things to do in terms the knocked down the threes, but the perimeter game in general if Milwaukee wants to clog the middle with all the lint that they have then guess what we're gonNA shoot from the outside, and then when you come step out, would drive and penetrate. So it S- postal is one of those coaches that. Because the Bron James was there in D. way was there. He didn't necessarily get the credit to take a team that wasn't as all star heavy to the next level and you can see it now Jimmy? Butler they went out and got a guy that had the dog. Yanni's had eighteen points last night. I mean come on man you're. Back MVP like you're supposed to be the guy. Right like literally the guy if you guy. You don't have eighteen points. You Wind up getting thirty to twenty eight in the rest of the guys get the eighteen. That's the way that I look at it because even when a guy that star got like Lebron, James has an off night. I'm not worried about that because he's giving me a body of work. Jay for so long that if he had an off night, it's like, okay. Well, he just he did something else he it was either the assist it was either plan on the Defensive End Jaanus is just one of those guys is like. For. Whatever it is, the play offs is just. Got A. Negative. Connotation, for him, you guys ready for go for Yonathan and regular season is one A. Yonathan. The postseason is one. Be. Now what that means is regular season. He's going to be an MVP because his numbers dominate. He's skinny version of Shaquille, O'Neal. I've been saying this for the past couple of years the lack ultimately of the skill set in the playoffs and not being able to get to the rim and.

"The. Head coach of the New York giants. He is Joe Judge Coach. Jerry and boomer Esiason with you and we appreciate a couple of minutes and you know I can start with this boomer was just talking about how you went in there. You got the job with the interview and you got the recommendation from coach check what the Hell did you do in that interview that you flew away Mr Marissa much? I was just being myself man. There's they must I figured if I was going to go in there and talk about WanNa, make sure that our philosophies lined up. In the way we see the team and we'll take the double successful program. So I told the truth on every question I was asked and we end up hitting off. Four. Yeah. You certainly did joe and it's a good to talk to you You know you're hired January Eighth Rigaud of the Utah Jazz is. Diagnosed with covid nineteen on March eleventh. The NBA shuts down everybody follows after that and I was just thinking here's a coach who's ever been a head coach in nfl short you worked under Nick Sabin and Bill Belichick you've worked under the greatest head coaches in the history of their respective sports. But now you are tasked with putting a staff together trying to figure out who the good players, who are the players that you wanna keep along with Dave gettleman and you can't do it in person with your guys. How difficult has the season been up to this point? Well, we're fortunate we had the entire staff assembled but I point we are going to work together for over a month went to combine continued working on some schematics and things like that to get on the same page of staff. Really. When we got say kicked out of the building and a pandemic, it was really around the timeline the draft with all the pro days. So we're actually pulling guys off the road that was the biggest thing fact remember win the NBA walked off the court. There's a group we're having dinner together that night and we got the way just walked off and that's when you kind of knew. All right something's up. Something's going on. You know we gotta go ahead and figure out what we're GONNA do next. but I'll tell you what now like. We have resilient staff. The whole thing just changing they had sudden changed with games played but. We shifted into work virtually and You know we found out pretty fast. You know our guys you know can can be pretty tech savvy when they have to be. So we would in the world zoom don't know spring and part of the summer, but it's a lot better to be here together. Yes. Sure I'm sure I'm sure it is. You know not only was it the pandemic it also was the George Floyd murderer up in Minneapolis players speaking out about social justice issues and everything else and I can't imagine that anybody would have thought that you would have had to deal with all of this. How is that part of it been for you and your players? You know let's say this I think sometimes the adversity brings it closer as a team and We've had the opportunity even though through the spring with everything that went on and we weren't in the same room together talking but gave us opportunities actually have real conversation about different things we knew we were working through different obstacles together so that to me was very important to really see some of the character of the team and we came together. We didn't have any strangers. We had a good beat on each other as far as we could see some character guys. How we handled some of the things that came up through the spring that was all really encouraging. I think a lot of people focused more on you know what you can't do what's different about the NFL right now but we get the lake everyday play football coach football's pretty good right there. So we folks all we can do with the team better improving and work towards where we WANNA go. But the guys coming with that mentality day urgency we've had great work on the field. and they're fun to be around fun bunch giants, coach Joe Judge with his son giants. Wednesday here on the fan. was there ever a point this summer where you did not think games would be played and I, know we're still a long ways away from that happening but it does seem like we are headed in that direction. was there ever a time where you sat there and said boy with what's going on in the world? You know maybe this isn't to be the season. You know what I mean. I always thought we were GONNA play. You know kind of had that establish. We're GONNA play. You're not sure. Are they gonNA delay you kind of see some stuff that was going on with college how's that trick or like you just start preparing for different scenarios? You know I was down the Gulf at the beach with my family we do every summer and we're having conference calls and you kind of mapping out different counters like, okay. This gets push-back a few weeks Saturday handle this it training came starts late. How do we handle this? So kind of working through all the scenarios I never thought we weren't GonNa play you knew that. It was a possibility, but I just felt like the season was GonNa Happen and I think all the things league put the protocols in place look it's been very effective. This point our guys had a lot of in it. We come to work every day we focus on just the things that we have to do to stay safe and stay healthy around each other and. against. The weird thing is that maybe it's not weird that we're all wearing masks. So we're that we're all testing day just part of what we do as part of routine and we'd just go that. Coach coach Belichick I'm sure would say no excuses not off. Let's go to work. Let's put our heads down and let's appreciate what we're able to do and I think you're trying to bring that same mentality to to the New York giants. There have been other disciples that have come from bill check that have not been successful because they try to be him..

That's all I'm telling you right now you should be the one to tell him that I will tell them that you know Tom, com profit used to say you know if you're you're ten minutes early you're five minutes late. That's right. I live by that to I'd rather be we've talked about this. I would rather be four hours early than thirty seconds late anywhere and I mean that I. was getting side by probably be running laps right now. True. But you are here it wasn't like you weren't at work at six o'clock. Yeah. That's what I mean like if I have to be here at four I better be here by four otherwise miserable for the rest of the day I don't mind them into. Well, that's the way it's gotTa. Be You know you gotta you gotTa be all in? That's that's what it is and I think Joe. Judge has been around to coaches who are. All in Nick Sabin and of course, Bill ballot check one, three super bowls with ballot check one, two national championships with Sabin, he's in that Sabin Bella check kind of work ethic kind of mode and it was surprising I think for everybody to hear that the giants were hiring him but when belichick calls and says, Hey, this guy is going to be a great head coach. Someday you might as well interview and give them a shot and that interview just blew everybody away. Here, we are now in the middle of a pandemic social justice issues. Killings on the streets we. Just trying to think that's why continuity in the NFL. is so big and for these coaches that have never been head coaches in the NFL before they are tasked with just an unbelievably difficult job it's almost unfair. It used to be you'd get automatically you would get four years as a head coach. It's not even that way anymore it's big. You got to come in and you gotta play well, and you've got a win quick and it really is it's it's to me. It's one of the more unfair things in pro sports and you lived it you've seen it but it was different than than it is now now it's really immediacy. I had three coaches in three years.

Jason Garrett joins Giants as new offensive coordinator
"Yeah I got a new job Jerry Jones is right he told us that Jason Garrett will be coaching in the NFL come next season and in fact he will be doing just that he's been hired by Joe judge and the New York Giants to be there all offensive coordinator we had a great day together you know you know I didn't know Joe real well been around about a couple different occasions I good conversations with them really good football conversations and now he and I know a lot of the same people I work for coach saving you work for coach David coaches always said such great things about Jo and so many other people that he's been around that I've been around said the same thing Jason Garrett on the giants in the huddle podcast and he was eager to make comments right away I'm happy for him I think as much as the Dallas Cowboys needed a fresh start and they're thrilled about their new head coach Mike McCarthy Jason Garrett needed something fresh and new as well I I tease the bunch up before that the cowboys actually made the announcement but my hash tag was free Jason Garrett let him go do something else let him go work in a different capacity although it is interesting right that he stays in the NFC east I thought the board to be really humorous why the giants though that was the question that he was that's right off the top just a first class organization and you you think about the history and tradition the New York Giants franchise in and what the merits of build the what the tissues of bill and all the great teams all the great coaches all the great players will get a part of this organization throughout its history and you know when you're playing this organization like I was four years you feel that Jason Garrett the new offense of coordinator who gets to work with none other than Daniel Jones interesting to hear what giants fans think about having chasing gear at again with inside the organization now jump to their often through coordinator spot where he was so maligned even after callin more to go over the plate calling full painting all the often whoa that lets is beyond as the the Dallas Cowboys had a really good off into season that was not the reason why they didn't end up by winning the end of season getting back to the playoffs in the stats for Jack NZ Kelly it don't tell you the whole story but their office of numbers were better than a good portion of what we saw from the yeah the rest of the NFL Jack was over four thousand yards as the Ellie and continues to do what it is that he's paid to do and yet still a lot of people pointing to Jason Garrett because the often didn't do enough well now here is going to be working with the second year quarterback in New York in Daniel Jones I want to start by and really what Joe said and in its introductory press conference you know I have an outsider's perspective on the giant a great respect for the organization great respect for the players on the team that would compete against but again it's it's coming from the outside I can't wait to get on the inside and and start to work with some of these guys and you know you mentioned Daniel Jones we thought a lot of coming out of college we weren't in the market for a quarterback it in the first round the year that he came out at the same time you go through that evaluation process and you know anybody who was around him in our organization with the cowboys just thought the world of does it sound excited I mean for sure most of the questions that he's been answering over the past few months a bit about his job status and about why the cowboys were under achieving but still he felt rejuvenated yes like he's really looking forward to this

Browns Make It Official
"We will start with the official news out of Cleveland Scavenge to ban skis hired by the browns. They announce officially on Monday. He's thirty seven. Spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota but has never been a head coach at any level level his entire. NFL coaching career. As I mentioned has been with one organization the Minnesota Vikings Stansky took over play calling duties on offense late in the two thousand eighteen season. Minnesota ran the ball. Forty seven percent of the time with Danske asked the play caller. That's the second highest rate in that span trailing only the Baltimore Ravens was introduced at a press conference just a little while ago. I the foremost success starts with people and I know we'll talk a lot about culture but it is absolutely about the people and everybody knows the Harry Truman quote. It's amazing what you can accomplish when no one cares who gets. That's the credit and that's what I believe. We have in our building. We have great people. I know we're going to add to it will hire G. G. M. here in the next week can or two and we're going to add to this culture that that we're building here and we have the right people and again. I can't stress enough. How excited I am the be? Just a part of did you know to use a basketball terms to my dad can understand this. I want to be the point guard for this organization. I want to bring the ball up then I wanNA share the basketball and let so what else get an easy bucket though smiling over there. WE'RE NOT GONNA I'M NOT GONNA speak anything into existence right now I can. I promise you that we're GONNA work. I've already spoken to a few of our players already. And that's what I'm about I'm about working and I'm about putting a foundation together the other. We will be methodical about it. We will not skip. Step two two and three to get to four. We're GONNA start in the foundation and then we're going to reinforce foundation Shen said we can build upon it and when I'm talking about this I'm talking about schemes and technique will be diligent about working with our players so that they can develop into the the best versions of themselves and ultimately we're building a foundation for what we hope is a championship. Effort will have a culture of accountability. We'll have structures is in place the players will understand our rules. And what we're about and we're going to demanding and we're going to hold each player accountable. Because ultimately I know this about players they they May Not come out and ask you for that. But that's what they want. Well perhaps the tenth. TIME IS THE CHARM IN CLEVELAND. Stansky is the tenth full time head coach Wjr. The browns have hired since returning to the League in one thousand nine hundred ninety nine that is the most in the league over that span of the previous nine. None have posted a winning record. Heard and not a single one has lasted more than four seasons continuity and consistency has been a real issue in Cleveland. Victor certainly something they'd like to you see changes to fanciest step in the right direction. In your opinion will I believe he is and I think that consistency where it is important. And right because you put up that list of all the coaches and the coaches that they've they've pretty much funneled through throughout the years can you provide that level of stability that they've been seeking for almost a year in and year out. Can you provide that for their now. The thing I do like about Stansky a fan ski is that he has experience with creating plays for two star receivers and I think that's something that's going to have to translate over to the Cleveland. Browns obviously with Odell Beckham junior junior and Jarvis Landry and having that experience I'm sure enticed of that for an office inside bring him in and understanding that they got to get the best out of these players in the best out of all their play makers obviously nick included In the backfield now is he going to be a leader of men and he is he going to be able to handle. The Eagles and the different personalities is that are in that locker room. Desk the biggest question that still remains to be seen. It's defense gas interviewed with the browns. Before in fact it's believed that he was the first source of politics but Desta several seasons ago and and it didn't work out. Matt you spent time with him as part of that Minnesota Vikings Organization. What can you tell us right? He he was a young quarterback coach at the time. And so when I got there was actually a little bit older than he was which is an interesting dynamic but at the same time. He's been all around that building. You know he's an administrative assistant and when he started there then. He was a quarterback coach. He's I've been with the running backs he's been with the wide receivers so he's been in all the different elements of the offensive side of the ball. He's seen the ups and downs. He's seen how free agency can impact so he's got a great feel feel. He's a great leader. He's got a presence about himself in the other thing that I think that the Cleveland browns are probably drawn to is the simple fact that this is a very quarterback friendly offensive structure that he's presented presented in for a guy like Baker Mayfield that had had his struggles last year. And maybe some confidence issues. Maybe not though. Let's see the press conference the same time. It's a quarterback friendly. There's a lot of play action. There's a lot of movement of the pockets. A Lotta easy throws to be made screen. And then there's like you said that balance forty seven percent percent of the time the run the ball. There's great balance in that offensive structure in for a young quarterback and going into his third year after some struggles. I think this is a great fit for that organization Asian and going back to when they actually made this higher People in Cleveland were telling me that it was actually his run game because we see what he was able to do with Dowling Cook and how he was able to make become a good player to really a great one and he's a central part of that offense that we now see in Minnesota and that was a big part of it but in terms of now Cleveland going forward looking for GM the way it was explained to me is they really want these to head coach and gm to work as one. This is why they moved on. From John Dorsey Percy and Freddie Kitchens. They didn't feel like this was working together. So they're looking for someone who has the same vision and the analytics department obviously is of of crucial part of Cleveland. And what they're looking for a head coach and I think that's why Stefanski became that lead candidate because he's accepting of it. He wants to be part of that and You know I think I saw some reports out there about how Cleveland is demanding that their head coach presents the game plan to ownership and really the way it was explained to me. It's not so much that they want to see the game plan. They just want everyone to be in sync to go over to make sure they're all on the same page headed into the game. Well you can't blame him and and that is something that clearly was not the case. I think you make a great point. It's poor in that somebody come in and be able to work and mold Baker Mayfield but also be able to be the CEO and run this whole organization and have everybody else be accountable. I think Freddie Kitchens might have had one of those two things that went by the wayside outside the quarterback with the hiring in Cleveland. What it does mean? Is that every chair on the head. Coaching carousel is now accounted for. The browns were the fifth and final team to hire a new head coach in the off season. Three of the hires tires Stefanski as we just discussed Joe Judge with the giants and Matt Raw and Carolina our first time. NFL head coaches the other two quite the contrary contrary Mike McCarthy in Dallas Ron Rivera in Washington they will get a second chance or in some cases third or fourth various established. NFL head coaches of of all the five. Who Intrigues you? The most in their new spot intrigues me is Matt Rule. I WanNa see what really transpires here right. He seven years sixty million dollar contract. That's a big commitment big commitment. I mean we might need to think about going into coach. That's it has everything else that they're also saying that they're making a commitment to Cam Newton with the type of style and the offensive structured. That they've set up McCaffrey's there I mean they've got the pieces of the puzzle there now. It's interesting to see how that that offensive structure from college translates to the NFL. which is I mean? There's been guys like chip Kelly in the past right John Harbaugh's price guy. That's been the most successful but that was more of a pro style offense with the most the most recent Kingsbury in Arizona so cliff Kingsbury. Excuse me it's been a mixed bag. There's no question. Let me ask you this just circling back to something you said by hiring Matt rule it you believe this means a commitment to Cam Newton. Can you explain why why I just think that The Baylor and watching their offense of structure and the RPO that takes place that's run pass options and all the different things that they're well versed in and that the Baylor offense has been historically historically very successful with in terms of that offense of structure I just think that that Fits Cam Newton's game very well and so I believe that that's a statement saying look. We wanted to bring somebody in here that you're going to be comfortable in this type of offense of structure and go out and be able to put yourself in a position to have success extent to intrigue you for me. Is Joe Judge my beloved giants. I think well I just think because going into it. Once I saw the Vacancy Happen at the head coaching position I was all right. The giants are GonNa come in here and get either like a Ron Rivera type or even McCarthy and get a guy that will come in and commanding presence. Once he walks into the building and I think with the hiring of Joe Judge just left me like okay I. It felt like the same cycle almost felt like coach mcadoo a couple years ago when you give a guy a shot and bring him in if he can transcend The coaching position or the year. After that when you bring in Pat Shurmur and you try to bring take a chance on another guy. Felt like we're taking another chance on another guy but granted. I must say I loved after the press conference I loved his mannerisms I love. He literally embodied what the New York Giants Football Organization is all about when he stepped up there on that podium Liam so I say that with a grain of salt because I love the press conference and I think he's going to bring something different than the other two coaches did in the past. But I still left me scratching my head in terms of who was out there here in the type of guys that could've came in that building and commanded a present these guys by the way Matt Rule and Gioja Geno. It's not about winning the press coverage but they did rule who was must see TV. I was just watching. He's missing time with the giants. Who so I knew all about? He's got does I think you know obviously recruiting such a big part of being a head coach in college. You don't mean to recruit You know when you're in the NFL. Which is why? I'm an agreement with you. I think that is the most enticing match COPA or at least the situation of the coaches just because you just look at history and making that jump from college the NFL. It's not easy and there just hasn't been a high success rate there. I think obviously he spent a little time with a giant. So it's not like he's
"joe judge" Discussed on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed
"I I panthers. Owner temper is all in on his first. Coaching hire temper gave first year. NFL coach Matt Rule. A eight wapping seventy or sixty two million dollar contract. Yesterday temper also had high praise for his new coach. He said that rule could be the panthers version. No shortly after the the rule news yesterday the giants are reportedly making Patriots special teams and wide receivers coach. Joe Judge Their next head. Coach judge has three super bowls under his spelled with the Patriots but neither coach has any head coaching experience in the NFL. So Shannon which was a more surprising higher rule were judge. George judge not even close at least Matt Rule can say I was a head coach. I'm built college teams temple. They had what one two. Where's the first year and then by the third sure they had ten wins Same thing with Baylor one win and first year third year he had eleven wins so he can say I did build a college program. I did call plays I was was a head coach. I did oversee everything that has to do with football team but the judge gave you know. Coach Belichick rose was everything coach. Ballot check specialists especial team so you know Cadillac saving the defense and DVD's Gilbey what he coaches and it seems a to me is that the giants have really turned into it because you look at their higher skilled they were Ben. mcadoo Shurmur Joe Joe. I don't think anybody thought like yeah. That's that's that's what they should. I don't think anybody's looking at it. Like wow they really hit it at the park with these is he's like they they got it spot on with a coach Coughlin advantages. Like whatever I don't I don't get this George. I don't get mad rule but hey I mean input David Shepherd for him so he will draft ten hall of famous. 'cause he really understand understand. What Pittsburgh had Brash Hall of fame descendants in the hall of fame the two wide receivers and running back franklins a long time Pittsburgh fans because yes he does? Okay so good luck with would and right now you might have one hall of fame on your roster that might be that might be Linebacker Luke equally. So you gotta get about eight more because this is his first hire owner skip. I believe he gave too many years that I gave too much money. But Hey if it is only that if it's not your guy and you have to get as deep as six million to buy soda. Sixty million on top of a six million that you played at the buyout and the infinitives can be pushing to ten ten million a year. That's a lot of bread. But I hope you you got it right. He's done his homework. He gave Ron Rivera. Set number wins that he wanted Rivera did reach it. He fired him knowing that he was gonNA move on so he started the process early. Hopefully he got everything. But I'm I'm shocked bet. degeorge are in. New York's get I am shocked I'm even even more shocked by Matt Rule and to your point about the new owner tepper. They hit it off personally to the point that when tempers quotes yesterday was that we're a lot alike he meaning matt rule dresses like you know. What in sweats all over himself? Just like me. That's how I am. I dressed like like you know what and I sweat. All over my until they connected on that level Sometimes that's what happens in these giles. Right guy because he sweats. I'll let your personal trainers but I've been telling you for two weeks. I don't get get Matt Rule. It seemed like a runaway media creation of a story. But I'm going to remind you if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly. The giants were poised to hire matt rule until he at the last second set. I'm not even GonNa come talk to you. They were going to hire unruly. They had phone congregations but it sounded like he was their number one target and that they've panicked. These are the new football giant order of tone. They panicked Hannington said. Okay we'll take these special teams slash wide receiver coach off the bottom of Belch Stat. Right what yes you will nine Josh mcdaniels. No or obviously obviously they weren't going to D. Coordinator because that's the Sun Jerod Mayo. 'cause they're they're obviously young but you did hill. You Him Joe. I don't get it like if they had hired. Aaron Judge to coach better. Maybe wrestling New York thing unclear out. Come on seriously this I I have no idea. They're making Mike. McCarthy look like Vendrell is give to matt rule. Why would I interview was Lula? The giants are going to be able to match as far as years and money will not after that knows if you wish your time killing where. I'm going to say this again. I remain a huge fan bourbon. Meyer I know. He works for our network. But that's not why I'm a huge fan of his. He Won Hugely at Utah at Florida. Florida Ohio State. He Won National Championship. He's a big guy he's he's that Guy Right. So if you hire Bourbon Meyer. It's a little high risk but it's high reward because I'm I would bet my money that urban Meyer could win big and pro football in urban one skip. He won one in two or the top. The top five power conferences in all the football team he did and he's coached in the biggest games in college football and one the biggest game aimed Hollywood ball. I give that rule turning around temple but he did it in relative obscurity. Nobody was tracking Matt. Royal at Temple Apple. Nobody really cared on the national scene. Okay so then he goes to Baylor. He takes over a scandal rack program. But listen I have covered the big twelve and the southwest conference for years and years. And I know it Baylor can recruit. Yes it's right in the heart of Texas and trust me going back to Mike Single Terry. They have been an NFL pipeline at Baylor in Waco Texas look at the athletes. They had on their team this year. They're you're loaded with receiver. I watch them because they have to. Wide receivers who are going to play on Sunday and the point is that yeah yeah you can turn it around quickly because it was really great a couple of years before you got there right. So the cupboard was bare. Don't tell me Barrett was scandal. Rack running know about all that and it costs the previous coach's job as it royal shootout. Okay but then Matt rule winds up in the biggest game of this year. Which I'm going to watch because University of Oklahoma Fan? He's got a home game against Oklahoma with a thirty one to ten halftime lead and they blow it and and they lose at home. It's impossible the loss that they took. What did the what? What does Dave tepper think of that where we remind himself you dress like you know what in West La okay? So do you like that. Adversity that he fought through well then he got another shot at Oklahoma in the big twelve title game went to overtime but he lost again and then did he go. Shock Georgia in the bowl. The sugar bowl. NOPE did not. Okay so what did you do exactly deserve run away away. A claim as the hottest. He was the hottest candidate on. The market helped me out skill. I can't help you out is hard for me to imagine that the giants so enamoured in blown away with the view as opposed to Chris. RASHARD IT HARD I. It's hard for me to imagine. That's no way he's a special teams coach. The added it'd wide receiver to his responsibilities this year. And then what happened. What and Matt? Let's give them like I said at least give David temperatures world. The Guy has been the head coach. He has oversaw overseen an operation. Your Day to day is not the NFL the NFL is a totally different. Totally different ballgame. But he has been A. and he's has been ahead coat but a guy that has no head coaching spirits. No coordinator the experience and he gets badge up. I mean you talk about the The giants and the packers and the bears. You're talking about you do on a stone franchise that they're supposed to get like Jerry says we get. Whoever we will real disaster the franchise? I should be able to get whoever they won't. Yeah well they're going to get Jason. Garrett is the coordinator maybe Devon I. I got my boss now report that that was only true. If it was for the head coaching position. Okay so they just hired the equivalent of Daniel Jones as their head coach right because Daniel Jones was a bolt out dot com. We'll see a a little better than I thought he'd be. Yes yes I'll give you that you see the answer. I'm not so sold on that but it came completely out of left field and this came out to right field old. I just skip. I don't get it out of but I'm talking about all of a sudden. Yeah would I mean prior to him getting the job or you start hearing him. His name wasn't on the radar. I heard nobody mentioned. And now all of a sudden he's got the job at the giant Yasufumi at one thing and one thing only going for him. I'm pretty sure Bella. Check endorsed him. I'm sure there was some conversation between somebody from the mayor family in Bell. Who cares what I'm saying? We'll be efficient endorsing. How would you like this job? We we give you ten years and one hundred and fifty me okay. Two hundred well. If craft sides with Brady he might be might be looking for another job to lay a ah too late now the already already hide the vacancies. No more vacancy wonder. If Cleveland is attempting to lure Bellagio cleave coach. Belichick Code Yellow. TAKE ONLY GOING BACK TO CLEVELAND DAKOTA GIFT CLEVELAND. He's never going back. There very was shocking but not so much any JOE judge Moore talking to cliff. It's up there is a big mistake for second. WHO's the most I mean? As far as higher that Juge Remember to say the Last Twenty Years for head coaching job. This got to be number one. I'd have to combat memory but it's up there. I mean I'm telling you matt rules up there for for me as was cliff Kingsbury giving me to thank you guys fail and they get promoted fall. Upwards Yeah I knew I didn't cover Baylor I know a lot of people speak very highly of him but even in his quote it felt like the right fit come in and build a program feels like it call triple knows is a franchise this is even the quota like no no. This is the big league I don't know why but he got because they're talking about long-term so he's not on a short. Yes Li things to be up to the whatever. Oh Deals.
Giants owner reveals why team hired Patriots' Joe Judge
"Giants owner John Merrow was a guest of Mousa Maggie on the fan today still celebrating the hiring of Joe judge as the giants new head coach says it was a no brainer what made it for me was was the way to handle himself during our interview having spent the day here at our facility and he met so many people everybody came away with the same impression we didn't think there was any need to you know to go any further than that judge formally introduced yesterday signed a five year deal to take over for the recently fired

"Right giants fans were back here on the Valentine's views podcast. Ed Valentine Talking With Patricia Traina about the very very impressive introductory press conference held for Joe Judge on Thursday. Patty one of the things that I really WanNa get into is a little bit of the judge philosophy in a little bit about how I was sort of amazed in in the way that it all worked out in how this dovetails with the way the Dave Gettleman sees the football world. I wrote about about that this morning at at big blue view how Gilman's going to be sixty nine years old in a month you know. He's considered a dinosaur by a lot of people around on the NFL. And yet here you have this thirty eight year old first time interviewee for an NFL head coaching job. He'll be the only head coach in NFL. Starting the two thousand twenty season who has never coached a game as the head head coach at the college or NFL level. And yet these two guys in some ways philosophically seem like clones and it just kind of it just kind of made me chuckle in you know in the long run. I think it's a really good thing. Yeah I think it is too. When you have polar opposites and again we saw that in the latter stages of the Tom Coughlin the era? You're not GonNa get much done when you're going to have strife it's GONNA carry down to the locker room and I it. Just it's not a good setup so I was Kinda glad to see that you get a million people are going to going to say what they want about gettleman and think what they want and they're certainly entitled but you know get them in is. I don't think assistance justice big ogre that some people make him out to be and I'm not just saying that you know and I know people are GonNa say. Oh there goes to Schill No. I'm not saying that I'm giving you my honest list opinion. I'm not saying get omens perfect but I don't think he suspect Ogre I think legitimately and deep down inside. He wants to win because look it's his legacy see if he puts together you know bad football program and doesn't get destroyed doubt he. It's going to go on his name so to work and be cooperative hip and collaborative with the head. Coach is important and I think it's nice. That gettleman who if you remember a couple years ago said well look at my resume resume. He was referencing taking the the panthers that went to the Super Bowl. He's humbled himself and that to me was a step in the right direction. You know it's interesting that you mentioned that Patty because there was one point yesterday when cattleman was speaking to reporters where we're I know that the the off the cuff. The the the sort of jovial friendly gettleman was ready. He to make sort of a throwaway joke and I think a year ago he probably would have done that and I don't know exactly what he would have said but he stopped himself off. Any said I'm not going to give you that throwaway one line. Yeah and that to me was an indication that that it is a little bit different that you know that he has an there were a couple of times but when I thought he was a little different in his approach with the media media that for me was the biggest one. Yeah I agree I think you know. Look he's been burned a few times. He gettleman has always spin and I go back to when he was you know working under reese Or actually under a Coursey. I'm sorry and I remember him. Being Jovial with the throwaway lines and and you know the familiar language and you know some people take it. You know they get offended by hi it. I never did 'cause that's that was his personality. I never had a problem with it and I just think that after getting torched way he has been in the media gettleman is is now being a little bit more cautious in what he says. And you know y y give people something to roast them about. You know I get it I get edit look he got roast once before you know. He had to eat a a nice helping of crow because people through stuff back in his face and you know e e can't have an ego you go in this job and I think that was one of the mistakes gettleman had is that he boasted about his resume and why he was the right man for for the job and so on and so forth and this is you know it's a fundamental fundamental mistake that get them and made it's a what have you done for me lately. Business winning a super bowl or getting to a super bowl two or three years ago means nothing. If the T. me we're putting together today. Only has one four games the season and I think he learned that lesson. I do to Patty. I think we heard that from him yesterday. And you know when you think about going forward forward and building this giants roster you know. I don't think we're going to see this sort of tear down that we saw the first two years with with Pat Shurmur. I think we're going to see something. That's a little more. Let's pick up where we are in and try to go forward. Try to supplement one of the things that it was really as we talk about philosophies meshing and all of that one of the things that was interesting is how both gentlemen and judge talked walked about personnel. How they both talked about not pigeonholing players in not looking at a guy as he's a blocking tight end Dan or he's a cornerback? or He's whatever they both talked about looking at a player as a whole. What is his skill set? What are his physical physical attributes? What how smart is he? What can he do you know? What variety of things can he do? That can help a football all team. So you know I was really encouraged by that Just by the fact that they seem to see personnel the same way I mean. I don't know what kind kind of players or who they'll bring in here in the draft but as we talk about them meshing philosophies. Is that another thing that you picked up on yesterday as well. Oh absolutely again. It's it's all about when you're building a team you have to have people on the same page now. You'RE GONNA have differences of opinions opinions. Absolutely I mean that's what makes the world go round but you don't want it to get to a point where people are now fighting with one another and I think that's that's what they were kind of looking to avoid and I just you kind of get the impression and again it's early. It was technically Joe Judges First Day on the job. So we don't know how things are going to unveil but you got the impression that in the initial meeting stages They hit it off. And that's going to be so important. Moving foward one last thing patty. That really impressed me was judge in talking about assistant coaches in. It's is not necessarily. The teachers versus presenters mark remark. It's the fact that he talked about. Tell me what a player can do. Not what a player can't do and and I'll be honest going all the way back to Tom. Coughlin I always felt like coughlan was was resistant sometimes to using young players. Because of what they couldn't do and I've always thought that that was one of the things that Bill Belichick a chick has done best is taken imperfect players. Figured out what they could do and figured out how to hide what they can't do and and that for me was another really really encouraging thing that I thought I heard judge talk about yesterday. Yeah I agree with that as well as they just I look I mean judge is teacher by trade and if you think about what a good teacher does they develop their students. They encouraged them in the areas in which they are they excel and they minimize what they don't do well and I think back to my own personal experiences growing up I mean I. It was not very good at math Got Better as I went on in my education but in and grammar school I was awful in math but I was really good in English. And righty so. I had a teacher. who basically took that and fostered that an and just kind of encouraged me in that area now as I got older? Obviously I had teachers. So you're saying look it's not that you're bad at math. It's just you had bad teachers in math but you know it's the same principle here you have guys you know. You have a rookies keys. And an older guys who sit there and think that they know what they do best and what. They don't do best. But until they actually have someone believing in them or Developing Ping them sometimes. They learned something about them that they didn't realize was there before. And I think that's what judge and his staff are going to bring out in these players. Well Patty again. Really hopeful day for the giants on Thursday. Just want to let people know that you know I thank thank you for doing my show just a quick note that I did your show as well folks so make sure you check out the Friday edition of locked on giants. It's as well fatty. I know that you're going to continue to churn out content about About the Judge Hiring about the coaching staff and in what might be going and and what might be coming up next anything specific that you will you want to tell people to to look for. Yeah basically I'M GONNA turn my attention to breaking down the roster. I'm going to start looking at free agency. I'm going to start looking at some draft prospects you know normally I in the past. I wouldn't look at the draft until April but you know what I'm starting to scouting academy semester to in the next week as a matter of fact so lot of good stuff I think I'm picking picking up with the tight end evaluation so that's GonNa come in handy and just you know. I'm looking forward to producing content. That follows the model that they teach. You know how sharing that with everybody. Alright Patty thank you very much for spending some time with me today. Giants fans thank you for listening.

"And we're coming to you on Friday the day after the giants introduced. Joe Judge in a press conference where the giants science new head coach was very very impressive. Very forceful had seemingly a lot of great ideas for how to get. The giants turned around and left a very optimistic impression. Very good first impression. If you want to say that judge won the a press conference. He certainly did that on Thursday and here to To help me break down some of what we heard. Some of what we might see going foreword is good friend. Patricia Traina of the giants Maven and locked on giants. Patty have have you recovered from me. A whirlwind Thursday Thursday. Yeah a good night's rest certainly does a person well and You know I went back and I looked at all the stuff and I think on my show. you're on my show earlier before we recorded this one. I think I said I wrote five different things. I actually wrote Seth in different stories. Because I had throw zero two in another direction I did cut ups for for Google News. I did a quick pied so I did a lot of work on it and I and I just feel like wow you know there was just so much to unpack and I hope I did justice to everything. Oh you're bragging patty you're brag no we were. We were buddies yesterday. We sat next to each other in the work room. We sat next to each other in the during the the media press conference and I know that that both of us came away impressed by what we heard for you. I mean before we get into some specifics. Just an overall question when you think about judge yesterday. What was the thing that that impressed you the most as you listen to him speak I think he was believable and sincere? That was the for the grand. Take Way I had you know. Sometimes coaches will get up there and they'll give give you this Ross speech. Oh we're going to do this. We're going to do that. We're going to that. He he talked about the type of team that he wants to have but more importantly he talked about how how they are going to get there and he also would go on to further supplemented by saying you know how what kind of plan he had to get there so so just a lot of different layers in the things he had to say which were very impressive and I don't know that there was a person in that room yesterday yesterday. That wasn't ready to to to run through a brick wall after he finished speaking. I know that we heard you know before yesterday. We heard that the the judge could command a room and we heard him talk about years of having stood in front of a room and and talk talk to the whole roster and I think he obviously obviously proved that on yesterday that he can command a room because he had everyone's attention attention. One of the things that I think is really interesting with Joe. Judge is the fact that he's been trained by Nick. Sabin and by Bill Belichick and yet we also know that the the Belichick coaching tree has been a mixed bag. And I think what left me optimistic about the possibility that judge will wind up on the good side of the Ledger Ledger. When we think about coaches who have succeeded or failed you know coming out of of that? Coaching tree is the fact that he was very emphatic. About not being bill belichick about not being Nick Sabin about taking what. He's learned in doing things his way. Did you come away with the same and feeling patty absolutely and I think it's important that he not try to be bill bell checkered or nick. Sabin he has to be himself now. There's not that's not to to say that he can't take things he learned from the two men and incorporate them into how he does things but Joe Judge has to be Joe Judge. He can't be either either of those who guys. He can't be Tom coughlan. He's got to bring a fresh perspective and earn his his His keep so to speak. I also thought you know in talking to John Mary yesterday and even in talking to Dave gettleman. There's a little bit of an element element with both of those guys that you know. The League is a little bit surprised at Joe Judge Thirty eight in his first interview for an NFL job. Bob Is already in. NFL head coach. I got the impression you know from both Mera and gentleman yesterday that they're both surprised iced as well that that judge ended up being the guy that more or less knock their socks often and convinced them you know that he had to be the guy. Did you another another question here. Patty again did you kind of get the same idea. Yeah I did. I mean you know. Listen We've heard John Maher status status before you know getting all doozy ask about a head. Coaching hire. And that's what he's supposed to do. But there was just something about this particular instance where you know. I just think that body which kind of backed up the words whereas you know I go back and I started to kind look at some of the the previous pressures that they had for Shurmur that they had for for mcadoo and to me the body language matches the enthusiasm he asked that was conveyed in the words. Yeah I thought there was you know. In addition to the fact that the giants seemed to to kind of go all out yesterday I mean there were there. Were all of the the banners around the stadium. Were all lit up with you know. Welcome coach judge in the giants. Did the press conference in one in the Coaches Club in the stadium rather than doing it in their in their own facility. You know it felt different print. It felt like you know. Obviously each coaching change feels like a new start. But this one felt different to me. Yeah eight did and and you know. I don't know exactly what it was. You know. Maybe because judges is the SEC- First Head coaching job Maybe because he comes from you know the Patriots and they had this mystique about him. I I'm not sure exactly what it is but I can say that it was something that just slept. You feeling hopeful for that. I can't explain it could just be okay. We're in the honeymoon phase right now let yesterday. Thursday was the the the wedding reception option if you will allow the honeymoon begins but you just when you talk to judge and we all talked to him even after the presser out in the hallway when they had breakouts you you just he just dripping with sincerity and confidence but not a cockiness like say Kakadu for example agreed Patty all right. Let's take a quick break here for word from our sponsors than I wanNA come back and continue talking walking with Patti. Try to spin this forward. "Yeah I I actually thought he did a pretty good job not on internally. How the communication went went what was being talked about during the weekend whether or not the game plan was being met every Sunday? I I don't know about that. But there's a reason why Jerry Jones wanted to keep him and Mike McCarthy has I've been good with that he said Look Ben Obviously Dak Prescott had a successful season. We gotta get more out of deck and the way. I think you do that as you don't change everything you kind of. Keep some of the things that he's done well the concepts that he understands. And I don't necessarily know that it's good for young quarterback to go like right now for Dak Prescott the gold learning entirely. Different offense offense with different verbiage and different reads in the way. I'm telling you they will if you're not around the west coast offense and now all of a sudden you're handed it. It is it. It is a lot is a ton. So that's that's the thing I worry about with Daniel Jones. Now he's leaving Pat Shurmur offense. Now what are we doing now. How how was was he communicating the new offense? He's got he's got to learn a new playbook all the subtleties all the different. Little things that go along along with this and that's why I want to know who is offense coordinator whereas and who's calling the place. Yeah Mike McCarthy I'm a giants Fan. I'm not really all that scared about what's going on down there. I'm not you know the the eagles have built into a perennial winner. It seems like and that's a team that you gotta keep an eye on his long Howie Roseman and Doug Peterson doing their thing. But I know a lot of cowboy fans are excited sided about Mike McCarthy because he's had a big track record but I like Jason Garrett felt stale at the end and now this this higher feels stale to me as well and even Carson Palmer said it to kind of echo these sentiments would like you got rid of Jason Garrity basic hired the same guy the same type of guy to replace him and that brings guys guys got super bowl ring find. He's got he he does he does have one is a head coach for sure. But I mean he'll button the whole thing up. That's the other thing too again internally. We don't know about discipline issues in our players late to meetings lazy and practice that they spend a lot of time in the training room. All of those things things that we don't know that maybe they see on the ground there and that's one of the reasons why they wanted to go get a guy with Mike McCarthy's background resume and track record. Yeah and that is the clean. That's the up now. Something else that came out yesterday and you tell me. How do you think people are going to handle it okay so the NFL chief medical officer decided sided that he wanted to heap? Praise on Carson Wentz for self reporting his own concussion. No so all right so the the neanderthal football Philadelphia so the well the NFL. Football fans all over the place. And sometimes you get into that neanderthals cash but Philadelphia. We understand eagles. Fans are a little bit different the Philadelphia Fans a little bit crazier than anybody else. He said this is the city where they have to grease the polls and the light polls in the streets because guys are gonNA climb up them right so so the way this whole thing was Kinda laid out during the game nobody. He said that he self reported it. Everybody was saying how he was taken off the field by an independent third party right and every football game there is a hit like dad. We're big guy like legged David. clowney is is driving Carson Wentz into the ground like that you would assume that an independent guy would be able to see that but the fact that Carson Wentz is the one that saying saying this. He's unfairly going to murdered by his fan base. Now now it's going to be the guy's a Wuss. How could you do that play through? It wasn't going to get pulled off the field. You could have won the game. That's still playing this weekend. You could have been a legend like Nick foles. You never going to be a legend like Nick foles now what happens next year if he ends up having a little bit of a you accreditation or something in the game. You'RE GONNA pull himself out of it. I can't believe it get foles back trade winds and let's do something else in the draft. That's what filled on sports talk. So Gregor Hill. Who is a line grew grew grew Jay Hill neighborhood whatever? He was a linebacker who did not self report on the same team. Play any played you know and then after the game you know they finally figured out what it was and then he didn't play the next few games but the Carson Jason wants to do the right thing by saying hey. I think something's wrong with me. I thought so of corps life I know. I know that nobody's saying that he did the wrong thing and yes he does have life. I'm just telling you. How do you think this is GonNa get roasted? Thanks avs easy roasted on a spit absolutely roasted in Philadelphia but it also shows to me that the the whole emphasis on the concussion thing has now woken the player now. They're woke now back in my day. We were not woke. We were put the sleep and we played put to sleep. Yeah but now. They're now they're more aware of it than ever before. And I was telling you a story. This morning we were playing steelers eighty seven and I remember for whatever reason I hit that I took and I remember being kind of knocked out and being kind of unsettled on the sideline but ended up playing the entire game. Because there was no such thing as a self reporting concussion back in the late eighties actor. They'd laugh most Mount Salts. Okay okay okay get your ass back out there. I think about that stuff all the time. We're our own worst enemy. The athlete is our own worst. I don't WanNA play. You also didn't didn't have all the information back. Then right there were on all of these horror stories about guys in cautions and I wish I knew and the whole stuff with the NFL. Maybe not giving you the full picture. Sure whatever it was and we know what these lawsuits that are out there to different story now and guys have a lot of information now I if Carson Wentz was feeling a certain way and said I think I I need to be checked out. I can't blame them for it. I can't but I know that the fan base there in Philadelphia is going to go nuts. They're going to go nuts and it's and it's because of the history here now to he's an injury prone guy. They won the super bowl without him. Here he is in this playoff game and went from I feel bad for Carson Wentz. To why the hell did you not play through it. But that's not fair. It's just not I'm just saying I. The whole thing was his. If it was a third party took him off the field and he had no say in the argument. Yeah Yeah if there was any argument judge would have left them out there. Joe Joe Joe Joe guys playing with Congressional budget a nose right. Yeah we're GonNa Punch into knows give people can play with concussion. We'll care you're out there you get your arm chopped off. You're bleeding out. You're finishing the play. That's the way we do all right. Oh love it yeah. It's boomer and Geo on the fan across the country on. CBS Sports Network. Just getting started. We do have four playoff games to talk about boomer. Wanted Me to put on on this Chuck Foreman Jersey. I liked him. This throwback that thing is gigantic though. It's huge I love this Jersey too but it's just it's big. It's like wearing a dress. You see a long Dan. It looks good. I like it along. That thing is but yeah. That's Pretty Jersey. Got There this kind of Jersey. Nineteen seventy-three this there's Mitchell and ness chuck foreman. So maybe it'll bring some good luck to the Minnesota Vikings tomorrow..

"Finally some some positive the texts coming yesterday as Joe. Judge definitely leaves a very I think positive impression for who is coach and I I think they given his background given all the stuff that he has on his resume. Already at the young age of thirty eight is a is a good reason why he got got this job and you can see it you. Could you could fill the Roman. I think people just wanted a different personality. That was going to talk to them. We're going to run the ball. We're going to play defense. We're going to be physical all coaches. Say That yeah I mean. That's that's that's coachspeak wanted to how you deliver. That coach speak is whether or not you're going to win the press conference and you're going to have a good first impression on your fan base which is exactly what I expected from him and I think he did a great job he did and I heard that he shook every media members hand before he he got to the podium and he went up and introduced himself and it's something that no one ever saw before so he wanted to make sure he's got a good relationship there clearly. He's smart clearly he's motivated. This is not a guy after worry about. He's going to be there probably at two thirty in the morning every morning. He's probably already at the facility right now. Doing all the stuff. He's gotTa Do Putting a coaching staff together. And I don't blame any giants fan for being excited for a guy like this. That you know is going to work his ass off but wants to turn this team into one of these like you know intimidating winners. That's GONNA run. The ball is going to tackle. It's going to be like old school giant football but you know it's easier said than done of course got to keep building you know. And then he'll go. He'll goes far and be as successful as Daniel Jones. Right thank you and go and get them in still in the midst of acquiring as many hog mommy's possibly can for both as offensive and defensive line. They want to build themselves into the Philadelphia Eagles. That's what they want to build. Oh themselves on show ads. WOULD THEY WANNA look like if I told you or gave you I asked you about an idea about a particular team in the NFL. And you. You WanNA top team. You want a physical team you would think that Philadelphia's a top of that list you would think that Baltimore is at the top of that. Lets you think that Tennessee is there. You know all these teams successful that have made the playoffs. I there are some teams. That just don't come up as physical but those couple teams do and I think that's exactly what Joe Judge wants right here or a nine and that is music to the giant fans here. Because you know why did the giants win. They're super bowls. Great Defense running the ball and you know just outstanding defensive line play when you think to their super bowls and you think how they got there of course. They had to have the quarterback and I'm not trying to diminish that that's important but they had all those other attributes to their teams. I think that's what gettleman has been trying to get to just take a breath and look at what he's trying to do you. You can see it and now maybe this is the coach to get them going in the right direction. Yeah I of course the stuff that you heard from Joe Judge yesterday plays to a fan base but does is it. Play to a locker room really is my question. Like you'll want a guy stands up there and goes you know I'm old school and I'm physical and we're going to walk into your house. How's it going to punch in the face? And you're going to be spitting out blood we're GONNA pour runaway fan base when you do that with a locker room of NFL players in two thousand in twenty but does it play there now. I do believe that Dave gettleman what he's doing and John Marin Steve Tissues he's building a roster where a coach like this fits because some of the guys that have been jettisoned out of here the last couple of years including Odell Beckham junior year. I don't think Joe Judge and Odell Beckham Junior really would. It could be two guys. Seni- Oh nells about his watches. He's about a Paris in the off season. He's about fashion week. And Joe Judges about none of that Joe judges about football football football and more football so I just. That's one concern I would have. He's got to lighten up a little bit but this does not everything that he is. Just a press conference trying to win over the fan base of the media and everything else which closed doors. We'll see you if it's the same thing kind of which the ownership wants the guy that was going to stand up there and be impressive because everybody knocked this higher Urva. You couldn't get Matt Role You couldn't get this. You couldn't get now you've got this guy. Nobody knew who he was so they needed him to do exactly what he did yesterday. And that was create that I really good impression and now it's up to build a new staff putting this whole all thing together. and hopefully Dave gettleman gets the players for Joe Judge. That will meet what he's trying to get done if he doesn't sign here he's he's most likely are going to be the head coach at Mississippi State and by the way they hired Michael Each yesterday from Washington State University. That is kind of interesting. It's got lane Kiffin and and and Mike Leach down in the state of Mississippi show up there so we had the like the private jet at the airport and here the cheerleaders out and he had the Cowbell as he gets off the plane. Because that's what they get down down there in Starkville in the stands so him getting off and the way he looks. It's funny and then when he talks even funnier Mike Leach. Because he's he's just a bizarre human being. Is that a lot of success. He gets off the plane at Ding Ding. Ding Ding thing was just glancing. Football nonsense is nonsense. Percents Effectively sensical he is absolutely. It's a good way to put out so it was A look at the end of the day you got. It seems like you've got the right guy so giant time fans wake up this morning. They feel good about what they have direction. They're going in now. You Lie Manning's not in the building anymore. That's the other thing that's going for. This coach coach now takes over over the building. He is the guy he's the man and They're going to get players around him. That will buy into what he's doing and he also comes with a wealth of credibility in terms of the three super bowls that they did win up there in New England. Whatever you say he could still put those rings on any time he wants? Yeah and the guys in that locker room. We're going to have to respect that because that's ultimately what the goal is and you'll have to make sure that he communicates that to the players which I think he will because of his background as a special teams coach which is good and maybe he turns into the giants version of John Harbaugh. Who knows yeah? That would be exactly what they want and you John is is similar similarly intense but he also is a guy who can smile a little bit and I hope to see that the from Joe Judge at some point too but you know people a little bit of an issue issue that he didn't Gosh as much as they wanted about Daniel Jones. I think that's a ridiculous criticism you know when he was asked about it wasn't like Econo- basically said I'm just getting here. You're in you know we'll talk about this stuff and whatever else it was like all day and you'll jones the greatest thing in the world like I think that's okay to say that you don't have to pander to Daniel Jones of the Daniel Daniel Jones bands of the organization leg if you haven't formed a solid opinion about him yet because you've been in a building for ten seconds that's okay and the type of guy that Joe judges is someone that was so intense in what his job is at hand that he's probably not paying attention to the rest of the League unless the Patriots are playing that eighteen something. He's got an opinion on guys all over football. What he's got an opinion on who the Patriots are trying to beat that week and now it's going to be who the giants are trying to? I believe he would have an opinion on a team that he is played that he has seen up close and personal. And that's not the case here but ah I wanted to. I want to know what kind of offense they run the Patriots offense and they bring. Is Freddie Kitchens coming in here to be the offense coordinator. What's going on there? Well he he seems to be aboard. CEO Type Guy. You know they're going to keep the giants special teams coach on the roster which is good on the coaching because they were good special teams wise so melt. Melt some of those concepts together together with the guy. That's been here but I just want to now. Who's calling the plays? What offense are you running and you you know who is going to be the quarterback coach four Daniel those things I wanna know now Freddie Kitchens? It's tough to say because clearly the guy was overmatched. Last year you're with a crazy roster of lunatics and good assistant right and and that's where I was going with it and and clearly he's he's probably not GonNa get another opportunity community to be a head coach again at least not anytime soon but do I wanna completely shut the door on him being a decent offensive coordinator. No I don't because I also think that you're what he went through last year is going to make him a better coach. I really do believe that But HE KINDA I. It just seems to fresh Freddie Kitchens as a huge part of what I'm saying I try to be fair but this guy was many many jokes and now all of a sudden he's your offensive coordinator. It was the weirdest higher out of out of anything that I'd seen in a long time the inexperience combined with a little bit of that southern drawl combined mind with Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Junior Jarvis Landry and Kareem Hunt and all these myles Garrett I mean it was like there's no way this is going to work work and but that's not that doesn't mean he can't coach you know a a specific position or I don't know about offense coordinator. Well that's that's the thing I don't want to stop short of that. You WanNa make the running backs coach again. Whatever fine but offensive coordinator seems like a lot to me but I got to see the other candidates to of course as things are moving? Ah Pretty rapidly down in Dallas because Dallas now got their defense coordinator. Mike Dolan Jim. Thome soul is coming as the defensive line coach they kept Kellen even more as the offense coordinator who may not do anything. Well you know. I'm not so sure because Dak Prescott actually put a big numbers under Kelly Moore. He did but Mike McCarthy's he's GonNa with this opportunity McCarthy project he was drawn up plays. You didn't have a job you tell me. He's going to hand over the offense and options of guided Kellen Moore. But I think it's good that you keep Kellen Moore because kill him warn knows the players knows what's going on these big I..

"I yesterday. I had literally no idea who he was Alejandro so Joe Judge definitively lost his press conference. Yes European Oh i. There are football all people who think he while the press conference but you know who I also hate football people tough people. This is a physical game played by life. Physical people are GONNA out physical. You know why because this is the article the foot right every going to protect the football run run. The we're we're gonNA pass the football and we're GONNA win the foot football. I know you don't tell me. What kind of ball? It is another pet peeve of mine right now to see Eli Manning back with giants right phone cool. Could he live with a walk. This guy I wanNA see auto green years in the back of the plane. Because that's what I do. And that's how we want to super bowls but I. I don't not Joe Judge for this. What innocuous judge for is just a massive misunderstanding of what needs to happen to be the coach of the giants? Dude you got the ticket of lifetime you can smile. It's okay you don't have to wear that suit. That looks like you're going to court for the first time you can be yourself. That's the whole appoint the New York giants. This is the guy like product on the field is not going to be something people. What if this is the personality in the press? There is the correlation to win a locker room with this. This is not like we're GONNA play. We're going to give one hundred twenty percent and unless the other team one hundred and twenty percent and we're getting even on thirty percent I think he's he's faking it either. This real look Shaw McVeigh's introductory press conference had me a little word ooh this. I'm not sure if this guys you you know. He's a football nerdy. Little trying a little too Harley Joe judges in other ways young dudes who is really such a coordinator coordinator at least like this guy was the wide receivers coach and special teams coach and jumped the line. And just I don't the this meant like this mentality is like everything that is in talking. This way is everything that is wrong and regressive about sports. It's a we're not like we will be manly manly men who do my like every day before we show up the practice. We're all going to kill a deer and skin it. And that's what we're going to do and then we're going to put our pads on tackle each other like like men. He was all. Sec One thing though academic honor roll. That's excellent work out of you that that is a lot so we there's but there's more to this a lot more to this Then just hating Joe Judge they in the process of judge. We'll get to that next brand kamensky Clinton Yates E._S._p._N.. elect..
Giants Introduce ‘Old School’ New Head Coach Joe Judge
"Joe Judge is the new head head coach. He would call himself the new head football coach for the New York giants. He would actually call himself all right. You want to call himself the head football coach for the New York Football New York football giants not to confuse you with the baseball. Doing wind left sixty five years ago to in one versus Dallas. I was there two in one not one into yes see there you go thank you greg. I'm already a hater shortchanging changing. Can we get back to the football. Sorry I hate Joe Judge Yes because if you missed one who ends the football. Maybe I can explain that a little bit. Who am I by telling you? What's relevant is Congress being coach New York giants? What I'm about read bleeping? What I'm about is an an old school fiscal mentality mentality? We're GONNA put a product on the field that the people of this city and region be proud of. What does that mean? He's in this Zehr. Nobody's allowed to enter the facility area clear tackling player use get wrestling physically like as a history and a light six. What about competitive? We're going to give one hundred ten percent upbeat or the other team gives one hundred percent one hundred percents. Let's let's get down breath test so the problem with Joe. Judge isn't just that I hate him because of that. Yes shut up. I rolling stuff that nobody in the locker room of professional football players. All of whom work real hard. Take the stuff real seriously are going. Nobody's rolling with that now. The bigger problem Joe judges the process that got Joe judge hired tired
Giants Introduce ‘Old School’ New Head Coach Joe Judge
"York giants introducing a new head coach Joe judge most recently bill Belichick's special teams coordinator who's also worked on Nick saving staff at Alabama having won five titles combined with both teams judge on what he learned from both those iconic coaches it's important to address everybody not only on the what they have to do but how it should look what we're gonna do to get there and why it's important and what you find out when you're coaching players they're not robots and they understand what the end result supposed to look like and why it's important normally those players on take the principles are you instilled in him and in the game make a player's adjustment and you're gonna learn more from the players in there as a coach because they're gonna find a better way to do it in the heat of the moment with a certain adjustment be flexible within your personal don't try to shove round pegs in the square holes figure out what you have what the player their strengths don't set a meeting and tell me what you don't have an a player don't tell me they can't do a certain thing tell me what they can do and then we'll figure out as coaches because that's our job how we can use that Jordan run on covers the giants for ESPN on a would judge will take from his experience in Foxboro Joe judge said he's gonna be himself and I was actually bill Belichick's advice to him but let's be honest you sit there and listen to him he's talking about he doesn't want to hear from coaches during meetings what a player can't do he wants to hear what a player can do he said one game they might run the ball thirty times the next game they might pass the ball thirty forty times so you never know it's gonna be constant changes and when you sit there and listen to that it almost sounds like bill Belichick and don't think for a second we are John marriage talk afterwards he also mentioned look the fact that he worked for a decade plus for Nick saving about sex that played a part in inspiring yeah he no doubt during the press conference he mention the fact that he's taken from bold but he is is own man judge also shared this on giants fans can expect from this team I what I'm about is an old school physical mentality okay or to put a product on the field that the people of this city or region be proud of because this team will represent this

"We bring him on all the time. He's got those vibrant colors. Look at that you look like you're covering the NBA man. And how about the Lakers. Anthony Davis hurt. Amera is clean. He's going on the road. So here's something. I heard behind the scenes. Maybe you can confirm this. Anthony gets minor injuries but Lebron fellas have been pushing them this year to play through. Because they're trying to build up that playoff toughness where nobody's healthy and Lebron. Ron Is really liked that. Anthony played through a lot of nagging injuries this year. I haven't heard that it wouldn't surprise me though. That was some concerns that people have you know in train fantasy yes. It was his durability. You know he you know He. He would get banged into elbow. Take a few games off in New Orleans and this game game up to this point. He's only missed three games this season. And he's been dealing with a shoulder issue the whole season and so there might be some validity to that Changing changing that whole perception. And we've seen like last night. You know they were. They were a little ticked off. They were pissed. They felt like the Knicks were abusing Casey. ACP fells brutal. That was pretty bad. That was pretty bad but now I can definitely see that Kala you know I. It's it's really interesting about. There's a difference between great great player and makes the team better. Kyrie's a great talent. Nobody disputes that but Boston's better than this year without him and and Brooklyn is kind of not not as good as we thought they would be with him at this point what is Kyrie irving is injury prone. He's a great eight individual talent. I can make an argument. He can be hard to play with around the league. When you talk to people about Kyri where do they land now? I think it really hasn't changed. I think we land on Kyri as being just one. The potent office of weapons. We have in his game when he's on and healthy he's he's right there with James Harden has some of the most you know stoppable players to guard out there just with the individual one on one skills with all that said how are never get hurt hurt. He never gets hurt yes I I'm talking clearly. Just strictly on his office but with all that being say it up to this point the only way to Max really maximize career. Vince gifts gifts. Is You have to have a great team surrounded around him To do all the dirty things that he's not gonNA. He has shown up to this point that he makes players better. But Lebron Lebron all of that work then they had other fissile weapons out there to let the let Cairo to give him the ball score. Yes I think I think that's fair is as long as you identify. He's more Robin Than Batman. LISTEN WE'RE GONNA put you on a wing and they're going to be days we ask you take the quarter over. But don't ask him him to be a stopper. Don't ask him to. That's not who he is. Not Everybody can be the president. I will say I think I think it's too young. He's too young player to just limit him to be Robin Right. Now I think he has Batman tendencies that ties up to this point maturity level or whatever it is maybe he just hasn't gotten to that point lucado which is a remarkable player He also incredibly young. Could I make the argument is the best twenty year old leagues ever had. He's a baby. He can't legally drink in fifty states. He's twenty years old. Yes I look. The numbers putting up is fantastic. Could you make an argument. You can miss him in our. I would say this Chris. His offensive game is more developed and Lebron. He's maybe not as good as Lebron but offensively Chris. He is elite at twenty. Today he is but the style of play in how you able to play the game fair. You have to take that into consideration as well. I still still throw Magic Johnson in in Lebron James up there as the top two magic was nineteen. Yeah leading how good Luke is all hail. Yeah you cannot say that. Yeah Okay you even if you couldn't you did too late Chris. Nah I mean. I didn't see this. He is twenty eight a game for the rest for another her fifteen years if he wants to be if you look at the way he plays you know. He doesn't overpower you a physical illness. He doesn't have the lightning quickstep. And so you you just look at his frame and just look at the way moves like how is he getting this done he just so craft. He plays angles. Well he knows how to create a shot to step back as like James Harden. Artan is uncomfortable. You can't get to any six six seven six eight hundred. I grew up with George Gervin. George couldn't jump George was is it was literally one hundred seventy eighty five pounds. There are Dudin Sport Chris. You seem at the Y. Z.. Score Luke Alex English with Alex England couldn't couldn't jump above my phone. Couldn't Alex English was twenty four night. Kiki van away so some guys just play the angles. No their body. I'm GonNa take your word for it because all those guys who before my before my time. I know what you're saying. Alex English in the seventies who's twenty six to nine Denver. He was great. Okay so we we look. It's funny about this. I'm like everybody else. I WANNA see Zion. But here's what's interesting. The PELICANS Your Bay. They're treading water without Zion. Eliane so is he gonNA play and are you surprised they're okay. They're not that far out of the spot he's GonNa play. I am surprised of what New Orleans is doing. But I'm surprised. Is that the western conference in general usually the Western Conference the power conference. But if you look at the overall standings compared to east of the West East is east is better this year. And that's that's why New Orleans is being able to stay in the hunt. Portland is a team has fallen off. And they're still in the hunt for their struggle to Damian Lillard dependent. I I agree with you. One hundred percent I went and watched them play in Utah. If he doesn't get hot for about a five minute stretch they get blown out by fifty to one hundred percent. They have to make a move but to your point about New Orleans. Zayn Zayn is going to be back. And they're going to be in contention for most of the album's interests on a great job but Brandon Ingram give props to he's held onto for all right. Give me your top five guys as an elite right now because we spot college I want to see him now today. Best players okay. Who's your number one? I'm no no no no no. I'm not giving you not doing that to me. I'm GONNA give you five. Call him okay but it seems like the first guy comes first. I'll forgive you Lebron. Yeah I'm give you a Y.. Yeah this is no order. I'm GonNa Giving James Harden I'm GonNa give John Cool and I'm GonNa give you a missing one more hardened jaanus Anthony Davis have approach. Any of that died totally lucan there. No not yet know the five plus. That's what else by the way they all have something I think. colline Leonard is the best two way player. James is the best ice. Oh player Jaanus is the most impactful defensive player shout out. Though I'll tell you somebody Rudy Gobert gets no love in in this League Colin. Let me tell you thank you rudy. Gobert is every every time. NBA has an underrated player. I go to watch jazz game name and I remember I text to my buddy's forget they eighteen points forget the four blocks and the eleven rebounds he literally changes every other shot down the floor. When the shot o'clock running out for the jazz they just throw it up and he dunks it tips? It keeps it alive. I think your top five everybody their offer. Something Kala Paula. Thank you for mentioning Rudy. Gobert because I get into an ongoing argument with Gary Payton who doesn't think he's that good defensively saying he wouldn't have made. He wouldn't play well in his day on. No respect rudy. Gobert any serves McDonald's. Okay if we acknowledge Lakers clippers best two teams in the League. I think that WHO's your three Milwaukee Milwaukee all right it's fair who's your four Boston. Maybe all right and Boston. Who there's a gap I think it goes to great Milwaukee very good and I WANNA see what Utah does it the trade deadline? They could use another athlete. On the parameter Jordan Clarkson helps.

"This year or the story dramatic and that is a big part of the NBA. Conversation is just part of the culture of the NBA But yes creates urgency many options for entertainment. Now more than ever in the history of time. Because you mentioned your phone. There's a million different distractions that you have. It has to be more urgent. There is no brands creative play in mid season tournament. Midst thing. That's GonNa fix this and players aren't going to buy into that. Anyway was to play a meaningless tournament in the middle of the season. What if you start in this season make the Games James Matter More playoff series until you get with the conference finals? Make him there three Dr too. I mean God. The Lakers could lose their first two games to a team eight seat. It does the issue and you're going to be giving up ticket sale. No fortunately I'm with you you can't you can't put the the greed lead over the long term macro situation. That's what it is. It's not one single thing the NFL has all these young. Great Exciting quarterbacks as all these amazing storylines like there's a lot of factors in it but it all comes down to what you said which is urgency football college and pro is not going down the World Cup's not going down Tiger Woods in the a big tournaments not going down. Why because you gotta get to a TV and see it it matters NBA shortened season short and flipped because I just went to an NBA game in Utah? It was so much fun. Everyone what is great. There's so many families like how much fun was tonight. It was great. Every game is entertaining. The players are great guys. It's it's a wonderful.

They breaking stories so He'll give us all sorts of stuff under fifty minutes great to have him in and joy as joining me. How are you joy great so yesterday when Joe Judge got hired happened right before the show might take away his good? God this feels a panic. Move take a deep breath. I come in the next day. Read everything and one of the things to remember about gentleman who I don't think is my cup of tea but he did get Daniel Jones. I thought it was a reach. Daniel Jones look very good this this year. He looked very good. So I'm wrong. He's on that he did a very good job. It's only fair to the credit him for getting on Daniel Jones because we all kind of rolled our eyes he also also worked with Ron Rivera down in Carolina and help build a super bowl roster so gentleman knows personnel. I think he's bad at a microphone. He can be clunky and old school which I'm not a huge fan of but not all old is bad vic Fangio Denver to goodyear the actually did that should have won more games. They rent a lot of them. So let me just say this about Joe Judge. He's known the the knock on Pat Shurmur and I was told this by a source that has good as any source you can have with the giants. It's a player. Pat Shurmur had no presence smart guy no presence. Joe Judge has a presence walked into cattleman bloom away with his presence so it's a pendulum swing higher. You have a guy with no presence. He fails he smart with no presence. Joe Judge Walks in doesn't have the experience you think then blows you away. Verbally blows you away with his presence. Guy Was a quarterback in high school. He's dealt with ballot check and say but then you go. Wow does that mean it'll work. No but remember gentlemen hired Ron Rivera Ron Rivera. The ultimate presence guy. Ron is a big physical Alpha male. He walks walks into Rivera's now known as one of the great schemers he's a presence guy walks into the room and players are afraid of him right. Either big manly Jack del Rio. He's a big nude. These anthony the chargers. He's got a presence guys. Respect guys big strong can use volume can intimidate in so joe. Judge has some with this. But here's the other thing I've seen in my life because I got a lot of perspective on this that almost there are exceptions. There are late bloomers but most most people who are exceptional. You spot very early Andre Agassi. At nine years old. His Dad had him play really good adult. What's not not pro players but adults at nine years old? He beat him. Bryce Harper at sixteen hit a high school baseball five hundred feet Lebron fifteen tiger woods signed signed with IMG privately at eleven years old. They agreed to a deal privately at eleven years old. He was on Mike Douglas when he was four. The Mike. Douglas Douglas Show Eddie Murphy. Got To Saturday night. Live at nineteen years old Steven Spielberg released jaws. Those in his twenties Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg by twenty-three were richer than anybody listening to this show exceptional people separate early and you can spot them Joe. Judge is in his thirties. It's very possible. Gettleman woman saw what Sabin did. And what Belichick did Bella check giving him more and more and more and more assignments he gave him a special teams. The last five years the reason he gave him the wide receiver coach. This year is because he wanted to give him enough to be impressive to get a job. That's Andy Reid does. He'll give us coaches more playcalling calling more exposure for the team so they get interviewed for jobs like Matt Nagy and according to sources this morning it's being documented that Bella check loved him and kept giving him more Oren gave him the wide receiver job so that he could get interviews for a head coach. He walked into the giants and blew everybody away. Just think about this though. Many of the Legends Sean. McVeigh Sean McVeigh. WHO's also quarterback? School got a job at thirty years old in Los Angeles the Los Angeles. NFL team. Kyle Shanahan at thirty seven years old Mike Tomlin and bill cowher of the steelers. Not even thirty five yet. Jon Gruden had been offensive coordinator for a couple of bad eagle teams. Who's got a head? Coaching job in Oakland thirty. Four Al Davis spotted him. Mike Shanahan. You didn't know who he was thirty. Five John Madden in in an era that the NFL was a good old boy network. Thirty two years old. That is unbelievable. Don Shula maybe the best coach in the Seventies Evan. These in the league thirty-three and Bella check at thirty eight exceptional people. You spot him. Tim Ledley told me one time he's a former NBA guy broadcaster. He walked into a gym in Philadelphia. And all these NBA guys were playing and he goes. Who is Dan? I I've been in the league. Twelve years a said his name is Kobe Bryant. He's a he's a junior in high school and junior high school. Just sixteen turning seventeen coaching. There's no late bloomers in tech in comedy in Hollywood Hollywood you look around you can spot him early. Maybe Joe Judge Walks into a room sabin elevated him Bella check elevated him Dave gettleman blown away Abiam. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see still feels a little panicky. Matt rule is my choice. But we'll see I WANNA talk about Cleveland Browns. Of course I do. That's what I do for L. Living everybody's got their coach and everybody's got their GM. Except the Cleveland browns and it appears according to sources will ask Peter Schrager about this in less than ten minutes. Senate Nick Caserio. Who's the patriots defacto? GM and Josh mcdaniels are the leader in the clubhouse Chatto Shays on the market another patriot. He he could be the OC. I would guess so. Now let me just say this. It sounds good right. A lot of this New England stuff hasn't worked Atlanta their. GM is a former patriot. Thomas off and so as the assistant. GM and they are the most maddening inconsistent team in the NFL. Houston's got a bunch of Patriots it's and is anybody more inconsistent. Detroit has a coach. That's a patriot and GM that's a patriot and the lions once again. Stink Kansas City at Patriot. Scott Paoli and Romeo Cornell Andy. Reid had to come in and clean it up. and Cleveland had Eric Mangini and Romeo Cornell and that didn't work either Tennessee. You can't count rebel. He never coached underbelly check. They do have a former Patriot as GM. They didn't get worse but they didn't get better once again. Tennessee is nine seven Cleveland's issues to me really art head coach going forward. They're really not general manager. Cleveland has an owner a quarterback issue. They're both incredibly impulsive. An impulsive does not win in this league. Patience sleeping on it taking a deep breath on it like Tom Brady didn't his instagram. The browns owner is impulsive and Baker. Mayfield though talented is absurdly impulsive. So the coach doesn't matter unless the owner improves and mcdaniels is not gonNA survive if Baker doesn't improve regardless of who you put in. No impulsive owners are winning super bowls and no impulsive. quarterbacks are either that's the issue both are clearly correctable Baker still a young man. Jimmy has lem certainly smart. He could become more patient. Maybe that's his new year's resolution but we pay so much attention to Cleveland running through coaches and GM's that is not their issue today the owners there's got to sign this new coach to a seven year deal and back off and the quarterback needs to grow up. That is the issue coming up next. Peter Schrager all sorts of good stuff.
"joe judge" Discussed on Big Blue View
"On Wednesday January eight one day after after. I guess what we could call Joe Judge Day for the New York giants the day that the giants very surprisingly wound up hiring former New England patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge as their next head coach. What a day yesterday was really giants his fans? You know the day started considering or thinking that Matt Rule of Baylor was going to become the head coach. That rule was going to interview and was the prohibitive favorite than we suddenly find out. That rule wasn't coming to the giants after all that he was going to stay in Carolina except a massive contract offer their in before we could even wrap our heads around that we found out that the giants had actually offered the coaching job to judge judge and had actually begun negotiations with him at some point on Monday so really really interesting day end. Look what we did a pole at big blue. I know that that people are a little bit crazy at this point. A little bit shocked at how this worked out. I didn't even know who joe judge was until his name showed up on the giants list of candidates. You know that they were going to talk. Talk to this really is an out of left field kind of hiring for the giants. It's it's a hiring. No one would have expected a week week or so ago when the giants decided to move on from Pat Shurmur and search for a new head coach. But you know in the end we did a pole at the big blue view and we found really really mixed reaction to this higher a more of a mixed reaction and we generally get from from the polls that we do pretty evenly split all the way through when we asked people to grade the higher from a through F lots of BS and CS in pretty close to fifteen percent gave it in a pretty close to that same number actually gave it an f. You know the failing grade so people are caught off guard Argh here. They're not quite sure what to think in. Listen the reality of it is the way that I look this is we. Were not in the room. We did not sit there and listen to what Joe Judge said to John. Mara in Steve Tisch in Dave gettleman woman. We didn't hear that interview. We only heard that he was very impressive. We don't know what any of the other candidates said. We don't know what kind of impression they left what we know here is that the giants have been mostly down for the last eight years and none of us knows how this hires going to work out. We were optimistic. When the giants hired Ben mcadoo we were optimistic when they hired PAT firmer? Those things didn't work out. Nobody knows how this one's going to work out. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it was a great hire. I'm not going to sit here and tell you it was an awful higher. What I'm going to say is this is a guy that bill belichick was very very very high on? This is a Guy Bella chick was grooming to eventually take over as New England's offensive coordinator. This is a guy who has worked for several years with Bela check for several years. Before that with Nick Sabin so this is a guy who at the age of thirty eight. It is very well trained. He's worked for two of the best coaches in the business. This is a guy who knows his stuff in his highly highly respected by the people who have worked with him. So what what I like about. This higher is kind kind of something that I've actually said about Dave gettleman in the past and I'm not saying this is a gettleman higher. I I always remind people that giants ownership ship makes this final decision on who is going to be the head coach. Dave gettleman might recommend he might agree. You know he he might. I don't know who put the giants candidates lists together even. We're not sure if some of those guys were John Mara some were Steve Tisch somewhere Dave gettleman or if the list was done by Cattleman or who it was who it was put together by but this is an ownership decision. So let's not say. Oh Dave Dave gettleman hired this guy so it can't be a good move. The one thing I've always said about gentleman is love him or hate him. The one thing that I do respect respect is that he thinks for himself he doesn't simply make decisions based on. What the media or the fan base or the NFL analysts or whoever you know think he should do. He views. The situation views. The talent give us the offers in the opportunities opportunities in he makes his own mind. And I've always admired that about gentleman whether I've liked his decisions or not. I always liked his independence in his willingness to think for himself. In in this case I like the fact that the New York giants did something outside the box they did something unexpected. This is a conservative organization that it has always had the tendency to make the conservative move to make the move looking inside its own organization nation staying with people. It was comfortable with or familiar with staying with sort of the status quo type decisions if the expected respected sort of path at in staying with sort of the traditional approach to doing things in what the giants have done here. Maybe partially even keeping gentleman is sort of fly in the face of public opinion. They have thought outside the box. This with Joe Judge is a swing for the fences here. It's an absolute swing for a home. Run it may blow up in their faces. It may end in a spectacular or failure but if bill belichick is right about the future of Joe Judge about what he thinks. Joe Judge from everything that I've read and heard that Belichick has said regarding this this young head coach than this guy could end up being a spectacular failure. The New York giants giants very much need someone who can lift their organization someone who can energize this team mm someone who can energize an organization. That's been down for too long a fan base. That's been frustrated for too long. Maybe Joe Judges that guy. Maybe maybe he isn't. We will find out but I give the giants a ton of credit here simply for the idea that what they did was was go outside the box outside their comfort zone. Try something different. Take a big swing here at something that might change change the direction of their organization. Alright giants fans. I hope that you've been following our coverage at big blue view as we've covered this this particular killer story a little bit later on here We're going to bring in both Chris. Slum of Big Blue View and marks Goldfield Goldfield of big blue view in also pats pulpit several different places around espy nation. We know mark is a quarterback Guru and a New England Patriots Fan. Dan So we'll get we'll get his take. We'll get Chris's take on the situation before we get to Chris. I did want to say one more thing about about Matt rule in about that situation. There's a lot of people. Criticizing the giants for not matching the offer for the Carolina Panthers made for Matt Rule endless than. Here's my take on this. I've I've said it on twitter and people have criticized me for this. Look you know. Matt rule might have had an interview scheduled with the giants but first and foremost the fact that he went to Carolina. I tells you that may be the giants. Were not his first choice after all and for me. Listen in when you interview for a job. What met rule did here was go to Carolina interview with Caroline liked? What he heard liked the mega offer that he got from the panthers and I don't blame him for taking that offer but listen it doesn't but then he took that offer in and he turned around and he contacted the giants and he said this is the offer that I have from the panthers? Will you match this offer. And he did this before he had walked in the giants building before he hit interviewed before he had met with John. Mary Dave Gettleman. In Steve Tisch and Kevin Kevin Abrams who were waiting for him in New Jersey. I'm sorry folks. This is not how it works. You don't say I have this offer. Will you match Shit before you've even interviewed. You can't expect the New York giants to to match offer. Say Yeah we'll give be that much money or will give you more before we even had a chance to sit in a room with you and talk to you about what you WANNA do. And whether you're a match for our organization mutation it just doesn't work that way so I am not in any way shape or form going to criticize the giants for not matching that offer offer for passing on Matt Rule and for moving on to a candidate that they were very impressed with. Will it work. I don't know maybe blows up. Maybe it works out great. We'll have to see but I am not going to criticize the giants for refusing to match an offer to Matt rule when they hadn't even had a chance to sit in a room with him. Alright giants fans. Let's get to a chat. That I had with with Chris Followed by a chat that I also had with Mark Scofield as we continue to talk about about the giants hiring of Joe Judge as head coach. Alright giants fans. I am joined now by big. Blue View Cohort. Chris flunked those of you who Who listened to the Chris? ENJO- show here on big blue view. Radio know that Chris Chris Usually Co hosts a show with big blue views. Joe Daley own but the JOE unfortunately is off. You know doing a silly. The thing like performing at the college gridiron showcase trying to have a pro football career so so Chris is left with is left stuck with me. See here for a few minutes on Valentine's use podcast to offer some opinions on Joe Judge so so Chris how you doing. I'm doing pretty good. How you doing ed all right? You feel a little bit lost without without Joe. I'd say it's a little bit odd but yeah yeah he let him go down play Hooky in Texas. Whatever you know I mean the kids trying to have a pro football career? I mean I'm I suppose we can't be mad at him for that now. Not at all so listen I wanNA talk about about the giants hiring of Joe Judge abviously And this was a real surprise for the giants. You know folks at this point have been listening. They they know where I stand and I wanted ask you. You wrote about judge the day before we found out that the that the giants would actually hire him. And I don't think any of us. It's really saw this coming but in your research about judge in in what you learned about as you did that piece. What was it that really intrigued? You in in Major. Think that maybe he was a legit candidate for this job. I would say actually. The fat is a special teams coach yet. Normally pretty much. Every team is going to look at either offensive coordinator or Defensive Coordinator for a head coaching position. You don't don't get too many special teams coaches getting interviewed. And we have seen some discussion as to whether or not that. Good or will change after the ED hiring of judge. I think that might depend on how he does. But just the fact that the giants went outside the box they went outside of their comfort zone. That kind of suggested to me that there was more there than just. Hey let's check out this other ballot check guy. It was an outlier and I thought what that really needed digging into yet. It's it's definitely an interesting move by the giants We've obviously seen in mixed reaction to it. I mean honestly. I didn't know who joe judge was until he showed up on the giants candidate list. I'm not sure you did either. I know a lot of giant advanced. Didn't I've I've seen the opinion that that maybe this is early for judge to become a head coach. He's he's thirty eight years old old. But what is your reaction the way this played out to the giants winding up with with an untested untested unproven. Obviously young you know new head coach of the giants in the NFC east the other three head coaches have all at least been to the Super Bowl and you you have the giants with Joe Judge. WHO's never coached a game on his own as a head coach? So what's what's your reaction to this sort of the day. After the whole thing is just surprise it I I was actually working on another piece about rule going to Carolina when the judge news basically blindsided all of us. Yeah I thought he was a legitimate. I thought you would probably get looked at in a second round of interviews. The fact that he was hired before the interview review process was even completely concluded too. I think everybody by surprise. I think time will tell list whether or not this is a good higher. I think it's a higher. I'm optimistic about at least cautiously optimistic. I I do believe in agree that a special teams coordinator is a lot more like a head coach than either an offensive or defensive coordinator. He has to deal with the guys from both offensive and defensive backgrounds. He has to perform and get his players to play with Disciplined and all of those things you want out of a head coach do it in high leverage situations and they only get get one chance to be right. They don't get three downs.
College Basketball Rankings: Rutgers makes its Top 25 And 1 debut after knocking off Penn State
"Top twenty five college jobs last night about Maryland knocking off Ohio state and Rutgers beating number twenty Penn state for the big ten's brought much better I think the people thought and there's another upset last night Boston College beanie Virginia Virginia was ranked number eighteen mackenzie Alexander will not play against the Niners on Sunday Mike Max was with the Vikings yesterday level is for Sharon WCCO also was interesting because to find digs did not practice yesterday some kind of illness so maybe he's got kind of that flu cold bug that so many of us out see seal and have as well the wheel as Max you about that man I want to congratulate a couple of of folks Jack la Fontaine Minnesota golden goal for goalie was of the merry she's classic was vital players of the big ten honored him yesterday for that and also right handed pitcher Max Meyer who pitches for the John Anderson golden gopher baseball team got some more honors for preseason collegiate baseball newspaper tab him as again a second team preseason all American he and the go for baseball team open up February fourteenth against Oregon out in Tempe Arizona national it doubled like Kevin Stefanski is going to be the Carolina coach I had a guy named Matt rule is forty four years old out of Baylor the giants look like they're gonna try to get Joe judges in the system New England he's only thirty eight years old but Cleveland apparently still gonna interview Kevin will have much more with maxi at seven

"Great Jim come on Jimmy. Come on Mike See we have to trust right. I guess the head coach so I mean go bring it in the whole gang. Back man them off getting them out of the CATACOMBS had a combs coaching still. The good news is what we do. The offensive line and defensive line offensive line that they could use some help Exactly get to the quarterback Rebecca enough this year by the way tweeted out a video yesterday when Minka found out yes Joe Judge was head coach and he didn't say a word he just three seconds of silence silence but that as Sweeney Murdy said a subsequent tweet. You could've asked anything you could ask them what day it was subside alarming. Yeah so anyway so yes surprising. Move for sure and you hope this goes well for him. So Jodi judge the new head coach of the giants The Panthers did hire Matt Rule to that monster. Deal seven in your sixty million dollars. Here's rule so we also had that the reports were coming in at the panthers. Never let him leave. Turns out the panthers went to him. Yeah wake at his house. Yeah yeah he was hanging out with chip and Joanna. Ha here's rule was a tough to leave Baylor it was a gut wrenching and I think it's just a testament to the number one the the leadership Taylor and the people at Baylor the people this community. It's hard to pick your family up and move and so but this was a unique opportunity. Sixty a million dollars and it's the. NFL is right. The seventy million dollars and more importantly it's a seven year deal coaches. Don't get seven years seven year deals. It'd be interesting. Seem to see Joe Judge got here because we don't know the parameters of the deal yet have not seen anything. Here's more from rules is just had to do it after meeting with Mister Temper the owner of the panthers after meeting with Mardi Ernie just seemed like a unique opportunity to to to go to the next level and and and put a process in place. This GONNA win. And so they are underway with that. And the redskins hired thirty-seven-year-old Scott Turner as the new offensive coordinator. So Pat Shurmur didn't get that job job. He is the son Turner of norv Turner who was In the NFC east now with he's basically just re re re upping with With Ron Rivera he was with Tim and Carolina Right. But there were the whispers that Shurmur could end up there where they're not my there. Were but whispers. wisp whispers him whispers exactly so so there's your NFL news from Tuesday NBA last night. The Knicks were in La. Take you on the Lakers. And it went pretty much thought it would. Here's Lebron another three.

"The giants I did interview him. Nobody else did the my knowledge and for a reason why they brought him in here and I think the reason was was because Aw gettleman has a relationship with bill belichick and he was looking around and wanted what what I would think is a more of a CEO type coach and the reason. I say that is that this is not a coordinator coming here to call plays. This seems to me like the total opposite of the way the giants have gone the last few times and they want a guy. That's GONNA stand up in front of the entire team that is going to be a leader of the team that is basically going to stand there and the guys go to buy in now. A couple boxes boxes are checked here. I think we're checking boxes all right. So we're checking boxes so the first Bach- says he's a young coach. He's thirty eight years old. He's younger than Matt Role Than Eli. Eli Manning he's out yeah now he's younger than Eli Manning. I went back and looked at a number of his interviews that were online yesterday and he seems to be really buttoned up he. We know exactly what he's talking about. I heard him discussing special teams. And I'm telling you. He had bill Belichick drooling after listening to this interview about special teams and everything anything else so it is it shocking to say the least. There's no question about that. And the way that the whole thing went down because according to all reports David Tepper the owner the Carolina Panthers the former billionaire while the billionaire who formerly lived in Jersey and left. Because you don't WanNa pay the taxes. Sure I took some of that tax savings money and gave it to Matt role all to the tune of a seven year. Sixty two million dollar deal. That could be up the seventy million dollars and on top of that headed. Pay Baylor six million dollars to get them out out of that contract so that is a ton of dough to pay a guy that basically has one year of NFL experience but has built two programs talk to a couple gems yesterday. Bolt guys said that Matt role is something sped they bought. They believed that Matt role is something special and then I sent back text to both of them. I'm saying you know. Sixty two to seventy million dollars special. Would your owner go for that. And they said well you know you pay for what you want. And now all of a sudden the the whole game has changed so coaches around the league. Not only should be happy with what Jon Gruden got off and raiders but they should be very happy with what Matt Rule has gotten from the Carolina. Panthers in fact you know it went from it went from Jon Gruden to Kyle Shanahan and the six year deal. Mike McCarthy got a five year deal the cowboys boys and Matt Rule Got Seven Years From David Tepper and the Carolina Panthers and he knew that the giants were hot on his trail and he knew that Matt rule wanted the giants as well and in order to get Matt Role. David Brat overpay with years and money and that's absolutely what happened now. I guess the question I have for you is yesterday. You were too thrilled about the idea of Matt. Can't rule being in this division now with these guys that have a ton of head coaching experience and have had success with Mike McCarthy Doug Peterson and Ron Rivera and that was man rule rule who has been a head coach before and it's built to college football programs off that really had no business being built up and instead the giants. Let's go with a guy who's never even been an offensive or defensive coordinator who is younger than Matt rule who lacks experience in a lot of ways. Do you feel the same way about him. I would also say cheaper than Matt rule significantly especially when you're paying three years still on Pat Shurmur contract now there'll be some offset with whatever our coordinator job or whatever job he decides to take maybe he sits out for a year or two. I don't know but yeah. I was a little perplexed by this whole thing. There's no question about it. I'm not you know well. I am not going to sit here and bang drums saying that. The giants did the right thing here. I am going to say however I gotTa see the guy in motion. I gotTa See. We don't doing. I mean he is now the head head coach of the giants so hey I wanna give him all the space and all the room that he needs to be successful before I start ripping into it like some other people were doing yesterday. I'm not going to do that. I'm I'M GONNA to say that. Here's one of the reasons why this guy got this job. He worked for Nick Saban and then he worked for bill. Check and Bill Belichick. According to all reports awards had him as his his main guy his main guy on the staff talking special teams before Games. He was very fiery on the sideline. I'm line you could see all of that stuff. He's a special teams guy. You know we talked about the Kansas City model. When it came to quarterbacks and things of that nature well this is the Baltimore Raven model because as all reports indicate? And tell you that eighty reed did this for John Harbaugh. When they were together in Philadelphia John Harbaugh was the a special teams coach? He made him into a defensive backfield coach. For one season Jason Garrett spurned the Ravens offer and John John Harbaugh fell to the Ravens. John Harbaugh I would consider one of the best coaches in the NFL. These town right so that so that is kind of like what you have to hope for if you are a giant fan. Yeah a couple things out of the giants control happened here. Does everybody understand this now. They could have offered Mike McCarthy the job up immediately the moment that they sat down with them said look we want to give you the job and they could have done with the cowboys. Yeah they could have done with. The cowboys did but in true giant conservative Methodical patient the way that they do things That they weren't. I don't think overly enamored with the thought that Mike McCarthy McCarthy was gonNA come in here and call plays and all that other that that's what I would think and while they like Mike and Mike would have been a good a good fit for them Jerry Jones. It was not going to let Mike off his property until he agreed to a contract down there which he did all right now comes the Matt role thing. Now you know Paul Schwartz and all the guys that it or covering the giants are saying the giants hot and heavy matt rule giants hot and heavy a mattress and Matt rule was basically saying that the giants are his dream job so everybody thinks this this is GonNa be a match yeah collision course except for one person and that would be David tepper. Yup David Tepper flies the Waco Texas and they give it offer to Matt Rule. Matt rule actually gives the giants a chance to match that offer but the giants haven't even had an opportunity to interview Matt Rule. So Matt rule has gotta to make a decision here. This is a once in a lifetime. Opportunity set for life. He's forty four years. He's got almost seventy million dollars. Got Four hundred forty four years old. He's got an an impetuous now new. NFL owner. That is breaking the mold. Which I'm sure other? NFL owners are not happy the about and he is giving unproven. NFL head coach. Eight the keys to their panthers kingdom that sixty million is guaranteed. This is like an NFL player or contract when might only get twenty million sixty million and it could also get up to seventy million depending on incentives over the over the course of the contract and remember the key thing here is in seven been years seven years so they he calls the giants and the giants said look. We're not gonNA match seven years. That means we would have coaches is. You know we'd be paying two coaches for the next three years. An ungodly sum amount of money. Because of what you're asking people forget Pat Shurmur three more. Yeah exactly so. There's there's a lot of things that happened here. We're outside of the the giant now. The thing that I still haven't figured out and I still have to get to the bottom to is that that now all of a sudden the the NFL insiders the reporters that are covering this thing on a daily basis. Start writing that the giants had started negotiating with Joe. Judge the the night before and that they were putting in place an offer for him to make him their head coach as if that they already selected Joe Judge Over Matt Role. But that's it's not true because they also had josh mcdaniels on on the on a short interview list. Why didn't they? That's another part of this. You know why did they not wait to at least interview. Josh mcdaniels. When I don't believe Joe Judge even interviewed with anybody else? What was the rush with Joe Jars so so they call so gettleman calls spellcheck according to everything if I read in Belgium gave Joe Judge Very High Marks And that that to me goes a long way bill. Bell checks is a guy can coach and he's committed any stands in front of the team and the team respects him. Yeah and he can and he's organized and he's detailed which you need to be in this business. I'm all for that. I'm all for the the greatest coach of all time giving being Recommendations because you know a lot of times he doesn't give recommendations he wouldn't give a recommendation for Eric. Mangini go into the jets so these things are not easy to get from him. I wonder about this. Was this a big old screw job in regards to bill belichick towards Josh mcdaniels to keep him away from here. I don't know what is going on with Josh mcdaniels. It's because now all of a sudden the the hot name is now just really important for one particular job around it but nobody nobody but he knows whether or not he's the the the odds on favorite. Unless this Brady mcdaniels thing comes to fruition and all of a sudden the chargers make a change and Anthony. Lynn's out there on the street reading and I and I and I can't see that and I'm GonNa say because you know obviously there's been one minority hired and that is is Ron Rivera. Right there are. There are African American writers out there and pundits that are screaming that you know a lot of these interviews for these black coaches his have been champs while the Marvin Lewis Cowboys. Come on right. So that's the one I mean I believe Eric. PNM's your gut good interviews and had chance to sit down and talk with a number of teams. I wasn't hired. And that's the one that is being pointed to as as the others more than the others rather but Marvin Lewis writes a Marvin Lewis comes out of nowhere aware You know he's out in Arizona Supporting Herm Edwards at Arizona State but so he goes there and he has a cup of Coffee Jerry Jones. I wonder if Jerry Jones paid for that Cup of coffee and then next thing you know. They got Mike McCarthy and they satisfied the sham of a Rooney rule. Here's the thing about the Rooney rule. I still think it serves its purpose and I and I I do believe the giants actually also interviewed Chris Rashard by the way yeah so they entered interviewed to minority candidates..

One hundred guesses says acquire Joe Judges from did you know what trump I shall. I do. Not Baby what's the fact graduates. I did know that. He went to college at Mississippi State. Because I found that out because the giants were only competing impeding with Mississippi state for his services. Mississippi state was trying to hire Joe Judge as a coach and this is a classic giants move. Your only competition is a mediocre. Sec School school and good you went out New York. Good on you he is. He has won three superbowls in two national championships. As a coach he he was the special teams assistant with Alabama from two thousand nine hundred eleven and with the Patriots Special Teams Assistant Special Teams Coordinator. Look man you got the ballot. Check saving dual wall scam of approval. I'm GonNa give you something. So what can what can. What can the giants do this coming year? We think that they have upside at all. They have The top ten pick. Obviously it's there's some the fourth overall pick five. Pick so Kosta pursues. A giants fan is like what if fault him at four. That's not happening Bro. He's going number two overall to the redskins unless they trade out that he's going number three overall the giants. Nobody's trading off to get freaking justed. Herbert say they take an offensive lineman all of a sudden which is what Wilson has doing all of a sudden. You have nate solder will Hernandez John Halpern Kevin. Zeitler replace Mike Rumors on the right side. That's terrible offensive. Line Golden Tate. Various Slayton. Evan Ingram are we back saquon Barkley Jones. I can talk myself into this offense a little bit depending on who they hire. Yeah I like their offense. We saw them kind of if Daniel Jones will he got better as the season went on you know besides that buccaneers game when he went wild and that comeback each struggled a little bit but then he seemed to get better each week and I like their offense Brinson. If you throw an offensive lineman in their offense was their biggest weakness and it's hard. It's hard for a rookie quarterback to succeed if he doesn't have a good offensive line. And if you throw a talented offensive lineman in their first rounder and all the sudden offense improved by say fifteen or twenty percent set. This is the offense. This could be the second best offense in the NFC east next year. Yeah I mean kind of a low bar I mean. That's the thing thing is like I could see the giants. Maybe making the playoffs if Dana Jones takes a leap because this is the NFC said let's see if the Eagles and actually stay healthy for full season who would they be better than Who They'd be the second best behind the cowboys head of WHO each trying to get us to go out there? Divas Eagles depot like break. His podcast sounds like a couple points. I think their offense overall would be better than the eagles offense but overall yeah sliding is Daniel Jones. GonNa Stop fumbling. I mean the his passing statistics look pretty great for for rookie and also considering how low I feel like expertise. Shouldn'ts probably were after. He got drafted. I mean he got booed at a Yankees game before he even playing the NFL. So like everyone's expectations were pretty low for him. He didn't fumble eighteen times. Obviously shoring up the offensive line would obviously bid gate that area of his game. But I think that's always see something he needs to clean up which is just the turnovers but the best thing going for them again is how bad the NFC East is. And I still think the eagles are the most talented team. And I think the cowboys offense but I mean I can. I can talk myself into an eight nate season. I think that's where I'm at with the giants. It depends on who. Who Does the offense I think like? I don't hate the Jason Garrett in. I know I love that idea I do I hate it I like it. We're whereas I like it. Because he exert Joe Judge you Kinda need a head coach someone like that. Who can help you you kind of figure out your first year in the NFL? I don't want to hold your hand because that sounds kind of wimpy but that is kind of what Joe Judge needs for this first year. Jason if he doesn't work out the offense isn't good next year then you get rid of them so it's not a you just need someone to help you get comfortable with. You're going from a special teams coordinator. The head coach is like riding a bicycle to driving. A Ferrari it's such a stick for Ourika Shannon now. You can't stick. It is something that you just can you you give me you say. How do you know that because you're a millennial did not address this but yeah so? It's a big chunk. I wouldn't hate eight if they hired garrick so when John Harbaugh just because this is this is this. Is this a lazy comp. I feel like it's a appropriate comp. Is it lazy. I feel like it's the only one we have if the judges. So yeah we just don't have many unforced hired converse. Certainly he's been awesome man. He's he's like a village outside. He's probably the best coaching football. Maybe he's got a super bowl so who knows has Anyway he had Cam Cameron Rex Ryan as his offensive and defensive coordinators. He had vic Fangio's as linebacker coach. Jim Hostile as wide receivers coach Hue Jackson as his is quarterback coach. Chuck Pagano is a secondary coach. Mike Petten as outside linebackers coach. That is crazy on our coaching tree. Yeah but I mean like it all stems stems from the Andy Reid. I guess I mean any rate like I think that's more important as a head coach then being a great demont. Aw is being able to bring in video to bring in a bunch of Like good coaches who you know are good. So we'LL JOE judge Trion Radio Bill Belichick's coaching dreamy ballot. Check say both said they hate when people do that. What about Brian Cabell? If he doesn't get the Cleveland Browns job maybe bring him into work with Daniel Jones. I thought he did good work Josh Allen this year you would have to move very far. He's a name that could work. And you know he's been with Alabama and with New England. So here's been doing right but what leave the bills. Yeah Yeah maybe not. I'd rather just stay in. That seems like a worst move as opposed to block him in theory to you. Say if you didn't get the head coaching job they can block. I'm just saying yeah I would block it too. I mean if you look at how Josh Allen Improvement of your team you don't want to mess that up and bring in someone new would you. You could and I'm just saying like if he's tight if he knows Gioja you could in theory or like there's a saving ballot check connection. You can in theory promoted to assistant head coach or something like that you could give him a title to get him out of there if you want to. I just think it's very important that JOE judge hires guys who can like you need to Wade Phillips get signed me up for that. I don't think he deserves get fired by the the rams I mean if you look at the rams defense they actually improved moved from two thousand eighteen to nineteen by a decent margin. I think they went from sixteen to nine. Da Often obviously went from the second. Best offense to the League average offense in. That's just about saying under we keep talking about the Jones and rightfully so because he's obviously the heat of the franchise but this defense is also pretty terrible. When I think you could talk yourself into in the first round them going defensive players there because they were twenty-seventh? Do after twenty fourth year before so this is still. It's not just get Dana Jones playing while we're a playoff team. This team has holes on both sides. The ball is. I don't think James Bench sure was actually fired by the giant yet. My crazy dinky still the coordinator. I mean he probably one of those things where you're waiting who they hire. Well I'm just saying like I mean that's another thing to ask like is Dave gettleman like you need. You can come in here but you need to have James Bechers or defensive coordinator because that would be weird and kind of dumb but but not in the least bit surprising if they did that. Pat Shurmur offense coordinator. I don't think Shurmur take that Brinson or maybe bring back into. That would be like making shot. That hosts the PODCAST. And then him calling you be like hey man you want to be like my assistant podcast or would you do it. I would do it well. You missed the earlier the podcast. You were fired for chips so I was sleeping so if you were fired for like if I got fired from if I got fired from running this podcast and Sean got putting charge you I could you know go after yourself. I would personally love it for Princeton to help me out and transition but Brinson onto that. You'd okay could you just show me the ropes on how to know F you throw a microphone at your face. And I'd like tear down the computer rip apart. All the software kidnapped diva so. He couldn't help me either. The only person who would help someone transition is Jason Garrett. He's probably sitting in his office. Still in Dallas and Mike McCarthy's like Jerry is leaving injuries like it's. His contract doesn't sparkled. You can't make them go so just deal with it. He's just like clapping at the press. What are the? What are the expectations? -tations for this on the cowboys podcasts. Acid on the panthers by CAST. But what are the expectations. Your one. You've mentioned eight. I think what are the expectations. Partitions your one for the giants in year five for the giants shining over worst enemy. He gets five. I mean I would say that would be if he if he makes year five and I think he's met expectations because that's a long time. I've seen five. He's probably the playoffs twice. I I think in next. I don't know Ben. mcadoo made the playoffs his first year. He he didn't last very long after that. That's true. Well I think the lesson here is don't let your players gotTa stop each year in the playoffs and party out of boat. I think in the next two years. Make the playoffs. Once I think that would be yours. So twenty twenty one season. Make the playoffs. These things happen quick in the NFL would be on your three Indiana Jones. I mean the the four or five year rebuilds. I feel just don't exist. Things turn around really quickly. I mean Matt Nagy got the bears. The bears terrible and he made the playoffs in year. One with a second year quarterback who struggled really bad in his rookie year the giants have been above above five hundred one time since two thousand twelve nagy also pulled off a blockbuster trade to improve a defense. It's the giants. Were able to do something like that. Well probably not because I don't think so. Yeah that's where I was going with that probably since the giants last Super Bowl. They've they've their own. That was in two thousand eleven. Th they wanted two thousand eleven their own one of the play offs. And that's like that's pathetic. Seventy nine six and ten six to ten eleven eleven and five and Mac and his first year three and thirteen back into fired five and eleven four and twelve..
