"Guild show. We're better than the NFC East. Conner. Wouldn't you agree? That kind of describes this show that we're better than the worse? We may not be the best. We have potential to be very great. We sometimes make some news, but I would say that we're much better than all the teams in the NFC East right now, Like we're doing a pretty good job. You know, we're trying our best. We're having a little bit of success. And that's definitely better than what the NFC East is doing. And we don't take ourselves too seriously because it still seems as if the teams in the NFC East they take themselves very seriously, and they're seriously bad. Giants stink. Washington stinks. Cowboy stinks and the eagle stink as well. And at this point what isn't better than the NFC East. Be hard to name things that aren't betterthan the NFC 20 twenties, not better than 2020 been miserable. But it's very fitting that in the year of 2020, a team could win six games and division and then somehow watched that with Ah home playoff game in front of 10,000 fans in Dallas or in Philadelphia. A cowboy's didn't even show up last night, Zeke think he just fumbled again. Washington one win Philadelphia one win, Giants one win. Here We are. Six weeks through the season, there's been more weeks than wins. In the NFC East five total winds in the NFC East And other than the divisional games. There is not a game If you're n F C span. I don't get it when you play the Bangles, Minnesota Whoever it may be. There's not a single game that you go. Yeah, we'll definitely win that game. Even inside the NFC East. You never know how these games are going to play on out. I was coming up on Thursday night. You get Giants Eagles like an eagle fan. Probably gonna steamroll the Giants. The Giants have showed up in the last few weeks. What surprised me. The Giants won on Thursday night. Absolutely not. Don't even look at Philadelphia Week 1 17. They spotted Washington's football team 17 points and couldn't even slammed the door shut. They allowed 27 unanswered. Cowboys. I know they lost back last week. They needed to great passes and great catches by Dalton to gallop to defeat the Giants. The Eagles and the Cowboys. They have not been able to separate themselves from the pack. They haven't And the stuff that's below them is not all that pretty. Giants are terrible. Washington's terrible the still in it somehow. Some players with that there, put it on the field. You like. Who the heck is that? They were on the five deep before the season started. So yes, this division has been hit with the injury bug. But let's also be fair. Did anyone if my expectations for this division going in Going into the year was a two team race between the Eagles and the Cowboys that anyone ever think the Eagles and gobbles at any point in this offseason were Super Bowl contenders. This division we knew was going to be bad going in. We didn't think it was going to be this bad. This is it's a comedy show each and every week. And It's not like they're you know some some games. They're playing up against great teams, but Eagles tied with the Bangles. You look at Dallas. Dallas has played a bunch of good teams. I know the Cardinals are off to a good start of foreign, too. But let's not treat the Cardinals like they're 38 the 10 team better. And the Dallas Cowboys. I know they have a very good offense, a lot of young players. This is a cardinal's team that they lost two in a row before. Get in a cupcake game up against the Jets. And also Their victory last line up against the Cowboys, so it's ugly. It's It's really ugly right now. And the Cowboys there two wins this year. How about this? The two wins. Hence the Giants. They have one win. And the Falcons, where the Falcons choked that game away. Falcons had zero winds up until last Sunday, where they took down Minnesota who has what 11 on the season. All around. This division stinks. And the Eagles. They have one win. Washington has one win and the Giants have won would and the Giants won win came last Sunday against Washington. Washington's one win. Came up against the Philadelphia Eagles like we just mentioned and the Eagle said that one tie up against the Bangles there, 11 came up against San Francisco. Which you look at San Francisco David inconsistent this year. And those were two teams that were banged up in the end part of the game 25 to 20 give the least credit for being in San Francisco. Khanna you take the giant's right. I would take the Giants. Yeah, I think it be sloppy. Don't think it's going to be a good game. But I would take the Giants if the Washington football team played the Jets tomorrow..

In a landmark case, the DOJ and 11 states accused a tech giant of abusing its market position over searches and search advertising. Justice Department alleges that Google is quote maintaining its status as a gatekeeper through an unlawful web of exclusionary agreements that shut out competitors. Google currently controls about 90% of global Web searches, but denies claims of unfair competition. Well, this could be just the tip of the iceberg. World Series 2020: Los Angeles Dodgers & Tampa Bay Rays set for Fall Classic
"Is just simply one of the best baseball writers in the world, and it's a pleasure to have him. Also, Of course, we watch him on TV all the time. And it's just a pleasure to have Tim on to talk baseball, especially when it's the World Series in this crazy year that Covert 19 shutdown spring training labor unrest through the whole thing in doubt in the summer, and then we played 60 games with seven innings and runners on second, and it all winds up in Arlington, Texas, with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Dodgers. So, Tim out of all that weirdness. We have a pretty darn good matchup. Good morning. Welcome back to the morphine, Max. How you doing, Tim? I'm well, fellas. And yes, we have a great match up. We have the two best teams going up against each other, which is how it's supposed to be. And the games have been awfully good so far to Elsie Esses or really good and I have no reason to think the world. Siri's won't be great because it will And just kind of top quick one. There will be fans at this right. Yeah, but yes, And it's going to be similar to the last time. There's not going to be 50,000 people in there. But yes, span will be in there, so we'll give some semblance of a crowd. Which is good, but I think we've all kind of gotten used to, even though it's not a good thing to get used to not having fans in the stands, but Having anyone there is better than having no one there. Yeah, And obviously there were a lot of Dodger fans in Texas during the NLCS, which, as Giants flagship disturbed us a little bit, but Tim a little bit on the ballpark before we get into the match up here. You know, the word was that that place in this rare in this home run era and quote unquote juiced balls if you believe it or not launch angle and swing for the fences. That Globe life Park. The Rangers home part was not a bandbox. And does that play a role at all in this? I mean, the Dodgers did scrape the Siri's out in seven, but they weren't really able to homer their way around. Kind of like the Eights and the Astro state. A Dodger Stadium is that is that a factor at all? I think it is. I think we expected more home runs, but we got plenty. Even the Dodgers hit 16 in that series. No one's ever hit more home runs in any single postseason series. And the Dodgers just did they tied a record and their power is ridiculous. I mean, they had 118 homers in 60 game. The one other team has ever done that through the 1st 60 games and keep in mind. The 88 Dodgers won the World Series. They had 99 homers the hole here. And this team had 118 in 60 games, so I think the ball will jump pretty pretty well, but not not great, and it should be fun to watch. It's just odd, though, that you know, the Rays have never played a game in that ballpark. And they've only been 30 Major League games played in that ballpark, and now it's hosting the world serious, so there are a lot of things element in play here, and I would be uncomfortable if I were a member of the Rays, and I never played a game in a ballpark. You know exactly what the angles they're going to be like what the lighting is going to be like, And that's why they're there yesterday, trying to figure all this out, but it's a tricky proposition. When you never played in a certain ballpark, you were talking

Hubie Halloween and 25 Horror Movies Classics
"See. CR. Thank you for being here with me today I appreciate you man, of course, man this is this is our favorite time of year in a Lotta ways. Yeah. I, think last year we had a conversation like this to write maybe around the release of mid Samara about what what's going on with horror movies. What are horror movies? Now the world has gotten certainly more horrifying in the last twelve months. We had a conversation like this, but before we get into you. Know Lists and the Adam Sandler movie. I kinda wanted to take your temperature on where you think this genre is at right now. Well, I don't know that we can say for sure because I'm not sure what her movies were not getting, right? I don't know what movies maybe delayed release that didn't get the festival bump that they needed from south by or or any of the summer festivals that might have happened So it's hard to say but I I would say that. I find my appetite for her pretty much the same as it was any other year. I don't necessarily find as festive outside I. Don't know the for one thing in Los Angeles. It's ninety degree. So doesn't really feel like Halloween but for another I, just you know everybody's inside. So I don't think the decorations of really started to go up yet I. Don't know that I don't really spend a lot of time in the Candy Aisle at my age you know what I mean what do you think? Well, I know you're costume guy. No you'd like to dress up just on any. Oh Wednesday. So this must be strange for you to not be able to dress up as a giant clown and run the streets. Pharaoh that's me. Yeah I I agree I think it's a little bit strange to not feel the Halloween and the Halloween season but I don't necessarily associate horror just with Halloween. It's definitely a twelve month a year John Reform me and it's this month a year. History to Halloween is when we are allowed to watch nothing but her for like a month and not seemed like we should be committed. Yes. I appreciate my wife creating a dispensation for me to be able to watch some of the most vile things imaginable on film. I several consecutive days on quite a run right now catching up on stuff seeing stuff for the first time. A lot of it is very gross or very disturbing and you're right. There's like we psychologically grant ourselves the right to do this at this period, which is pretty pretty weird. Come on honey. It's early. October. Let's watch. Torn to pieces. Yeah anyhow. What about from the from the year so far in terms of the movies that have been released have there been any that you actually liked from the Shawna Yeah I've seen a couple of things on demand that I thought were pretty cool. Some of them were like late nineteen things that finally got released this year I think that you and I. were. Really looking forward to seeing a bunch of stuff in Texas at. South by which was the OH maybe we'll go to Austin rate like right as quarantine was starting to become really apparent as the magnitude of the situation was dawning on us. So I I really don't know if you've seen anything in twenty twenty that you think is like really stellar. You know. I wanted to ask from hosts. Really Right. Y-. Right. So I think that that's I think that's where we should take this conversation which is a couple years ago. I. Did this Horror Oscars Gimmick on the site where I picked my favorite. What I thought was the best horror movie of every year since Nineteen, seventy, nine and I like the idea of continuing to hand out that award every year and so looking at kind of what would be the five contenders from each year but as you say Most of the movies of that are sort of noisy studio movies have been pushed back candyman for example, Nia Costa's remake reimagining of that classic is not coming out now until next year that's a bummer i. a lot of people were looking forward to it. I was looking forward to it. We got a few things. You know we got we got the invisible man we got relic There have been a couple of movies on shudder shudder originals, one of which I'll talk about later in the show. But like blood quantum, which I talked about on the show Z, the Beach House that I think are all worth recommending but I wouldn't say are on the order of. Hereditary or or something like that. You know that we haven't had a movie like that. That feels like it's a little bit of a moment. A little bit of a movement announces a new filmmaker in a loud and noisy way I. Don't know you know. Host is really interesting. I think the last time the show is just you and I talked about we talked about host and it kind of feels like it has has the belt for horror movies in twenty twenty if only by circumstance. Yeah I think you mentioned all those other like invisible man etc I would the lodge in there I would throw the rental and they're like. They were really there is some pretty solid doubles to left, but the host was the one where I was just like a watch it again I'm going to recommend it's all my friends I'm going to try and get people who don't ordinarily watch horror movies to check it out, and especially if we're talking about twenty twenty horror movies, it is a movie that only have been made this year. Do you think that that's a movie that's going to stand the test of time or only resonating with people because we're all looking at screens all day. No I think it will I think it's going to be a good time capsule movie for sure. But I think that there are some things that it does and you talked about this with Alex Ross Perry, which was an amazing conversation. If people haven't checked it out and I, think his some of the stuff he said towards the end of your conversation will influence what we're about to talk about today. But I think that you guys talked a little bit about the technology and the the storytelling that it employs and how it seems to be like a step for like an evolution in what could we do with? The collective psychology of what's going on with people and that's what's awesome about her movies is that I feel like unlike any other genre really taps into how people are feeling at any given time about certain things it has at least that capacity.

The New iPhones Are Here!
"The new iphones are here the new iphones oh. Okay. I'm down. The Tuesday apple had an iphone event that it was all about the new five G. iphones that have five G. that even have horizon five G. CEO five G. Talking about five G. on the stage for about five G. minutes and then they showed all the phones and literally. I didn't count it, but there is a super cut on Youtube said the words five G. More than two dozen times over and over many times horizon five G. selling all of the benefits you're going to get from five G. None of which you're GonNa get I should point out. Even with the five G. phone because. All of the really cool stuff. You know the four gigabits download speeds. Are. Available Leila. Narrow tiny teeny weeny area in certain cities of the country maybe in one corner of Football Stadium. That's about it. It's only good outdoors don't work inside because it can't go through walls. It only goes about eight hundred feet. So you have to be within eight hundred feet of the cell tower with line of sight access. It can't be a tree between you can't be a building between your they can't be a human or even a raindrop line of sight clear vision eight, hundred feet Max away, and then you might get four g if no one else is using it. For gigabits not. Five, jeep with four gigabits that's confusing it's a marketing term. There's two kinds of five G. actually there's more, but there's two main kinds and the funny thing is that Tuesday verizon also rolled out. There what they call their quote nationwide five G.. The one you don't have to live in Fourteenth Street and race and Philadelphia to get. Outside within a hundred feet of the tower. That is the same as T. mobile's nationwide five G.. It's what we call. low band or It's a six hundred megahertz, which means could go through walls. It can travel a good distance. It's kind of like. In. It's a lot like what you got right now. Maybe a little faster may be probably not. Fact in some cases is even slower. So don't you know I I don't I think apple they must have given apple. How much money do you have to give apple to get your CEO on stage to get them to plug your stuff all the time to save verizon five, rise, five, g. all I mean apple's got more money than God there. The got hundreds of billions of dollars just sitting in the bank with nothing to do. You how much does verizon have to give apple to get all that attention a lot I guess. Maybe. The next time you're in the verizon store that'll explain the giant. By An iphone today billboard I duNNo. Apple also. They didn't use to do this stuff. They didn't. They didn't need to I. Don't think they need to today. They also kind of understated the price of the phone because the price they quoted people was with carrier subsidy. So, unless you're buying it from at and T. or verizon, no, t mobile didn't have eighteen team rising and it's Only, in the base model phones, will you get that deal? So it's not even the price of the phone, it's like when the back when they used to say, it's two hundred dollars with a two year contract. And you pay for it even after two years over, you're GONNA pay for that phone for the rest of your life. So there's four new phone. I just want to say that I want to get that off my chest Pay No attention to the hand waving about five G.. Very. FEW PEOPLE ARE GONNA if he if you're in a five G. Area Nice to have I mean imagine four gigabits. That's wow. That's fast. But. That's Very, few people listening to this can. Be a city eight, hundred feet of a tower you can't be outside it's. Kinda like Wi fi really is what it is Which makes me wonder why you know do people even care about this since most of the time when you're inside, you have wi fi. you know they they said Oh look a a an EMT in emergency Medical technician can get downloaded a a brain, scan a cat scan in the ambulance and look at it up because they have. But I don't does that is that something people are saying, Oh, I really wish I could do that. I. Need to do that. I don't know what they're gonNA do with a brain scan is there right driving you the hospital but okay, fine. Anyway, phones, there's an iphone. Twelve's by the way this is iphone twelve. There's the iphone twelve mini. Which is many it's smaller than the iphone se that they just started selling I mean it's really small. It's the size of like an iphone four. It's tight. But this is what's cool about it. If you want a small phone, it has all the features of the big boy phone. and. It's one hundred bucks cheaper. So. But. But you don't get it for the price. Probably you might s es even cheaper. So you know if you really want to save money get an se which is a perfectly good phone that has the guts have been I. Phone Eleven, and this is has the guts of an iphone twelve and its Tutsi. And it has a nice cameras and all that stuff. Then there's the iphone twelve, which is the IPHONE. that's a little bit bigger, and then there's the iphone twelve pro that's a little bit bigger still, and then there's the iphone Pro Max which is humongous. That's the one I'm going to get. I want humongous right. They didn't really explain the fact that the iphone twelve pro twelve pro Max have kind of different cameras. The only the twelve pro Max, you have to buy the humongous phone. If you want I mean they did some interesting things. They have a sensor that's fifty percent bigger. The that means a lot more light gets in and it has built in optical image stabilization. The sensor shakes when you shake That's pretty cool but that's only on the Max. I, don't think they really made that clear.

Trump was warned Giuliani was target of Russian disinformation campaign
"They're growing questions about former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, CBS News correspondent Paula Read reports the mayor might be a pawn in a Russian smear campaign against Joe Biden, son Hunter. President Trump on the attack, going after Joe Biden and his family with a dubious accusations. I tell you what, it's an organized crime family. As far as I'm concerned, the president is referencing a tabloid newspaper story with emails purportedly swiped from the vice president's son Hunter. But CBS News has learned the president was personally warned by the National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien, that the man who provided the information to the tabloid his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, was the target of a Russian influence campaign aimed at discrediting Biden. Sources say the president did not seem concerned. Intelligence officials also notified Giuliani to tell him he was a target. But the former New York mayor disputes that and claims he got the information from a computer repairman in Delaware, who allegedly had Hunter Biden's laptop. We have the entire hard drive. We've analysed it now. For about two weeks, CBS News has learned. The FBI is now looking into whether the information found on the device may be part of a Russian disinformation campaign. Giuliani has admitted he went to Ukraine last year and worked with a known Russian agent to dig up dirt invited. You did ask Ukraine to look into job I, Of course I did. Twitter initially blocked Retweets of that article about the laptop, but the social media giant bowed to pressure from Republicans who had accused him of censorship. And they've now lifted that ban.
"Instead of being paid to glorify the church and nobility like so much of Europe, the art in the low countries was paid for by the wealth of the Protestant merchant class are guides are Nico Febrile who lives near Bruges in West Flanders and Jodi angles door than she lives in Harlem North Holland? Nicole Yoda. Thanks for being here. Thank you. Thank you for having us. So from your perspective as a guide in the Netherlands ca you see that divide in the art world? Well, of course, it's a lot about the culture of country and like you said, our culture is all about brought stations and we had thorough formation and that are really created a big difference between some art in other countries in us. So we have very basic churches. They're all stripped down from older statues but also are monster pieces re rarely. See. Any Christian. Seems but we always have the Merchan's and because we had a Dutch republic very soon after. Yeah. So that is of you. If you see a bread of his biblical theme, it'll be from the Bible but it won't be from some Pope or something like that. Yes. If you think about you, you mentioned the reformation you have a huge church on the main square in Harlem that was a Catholic Church and it was completely painted all the pillars were painted and everything now when you go in yeah. Washed away whitewashed. Yes. Whitewashed. Yeah So a reformation came we had iconoclast where all the distance took it down and the art was little gone, and how do you recognize what the Protestants really brought into the churches was music and that is how they really lived up churches. So in Harlem, you have this giant organ. which more than five thousand pipes you can still go in and listen to it every Thursday In the summer periods. Then you have a concert for free you can visit and you can hear his Oregon play you can just. How old's organised, we've come so a ten year old Mozart played in this. So it's a it's a very different experience and it's very beautiful. So maybe four or five hundred years ago it was Catholic and then you have the reformation it becomes Protestant partisans come in there and they were kind of sort of kind of mean her. Very extreme. Throughout. All the statues they busted lot of the windows they painted everything white and they put up this amazing organ that goes it's his tallest building. It goes way to the top of those arches. Wild, it is wild and that's something that when you know the story behind, it makes a little more sense when you have a good information, know every Thursday there's a free concert Nico when you think about the Great Dutch painters who comes to mind. Of course, he think about people like don't finance house to meet. My personal is Yon Stein. Johnston because he has these scenes of just people having fun at home and it's sometimes a bit double if what he wants to say with paintings. inning. Is it the warning that you shouldn't be so? Joyful maybe in life. Or they're just fun to watch because there is there's a lot of folk way stem. Yeah. It's like I'm like don't be wasteful or if you gossip things bad things will happen or there's all these little little lessons about life but not really preaching from the Church nobody you could interpret it that way and people could hang it in their houses and say, this is what we shouldn't be doing. Right but I look at them as okay. They're having fun to me. It's a little intimate look at life for hundred years ago or whenever he owns Dean was painting, but that's a good name to. Note Yawn Seen S. T. E. N. S. these when I go to a gallery in the Netherlands I, see a lot of small paintings by a lot of people whose names I don't know rather than a few big paintings by people who are superstars and highly paid, and you got to think it's a different sort of clientele. If you're painting a King or some bishop, you can paint something big and really expensive. But in the Netherlands when they got rid of the king and they got rid of the pope, they got to have the open market business people for their clientele and it needs to be affordable. So you have small appreciate art. Or. Not Actually N- definitely. But like you said it would be anonymous or from the same workshop or around that's what you would read. You see the values of the day there I, mean, above the dining room table, you might have a still life. Yes. Still lifes is not a personal favourite, but that's something that you will find a lot. Would you see in still life because of fruits, baskets, fish 'cause it's the Netherlands. So they would have a love of fish in there as well. Easy to catch

Xbox Doesn't Need Bethesda on PlayStation
"One is one that was breaking as we went live from a little boy named Steven Tolo over a cocoon. He has a giant interview with Phil Spencer, covering all manner of xbox series x the future game pass you name it but he also talks to him about Bethesda. I'm calling this one xbox doesn't need Bethesda on playstation. We will start in progress than jump a bit further during our forty eight minute chat. We covered those machines, of course, the next gen ones and a lot more ballooning game file sizes, the Bethesda deal and how Microsoft plans do enable next Gen gaming on current Gen Consul first let's talk about xbox series snl. Going to talk that now, joining them deeper for the things of course, Stephen does great work. This is a fantastic interview Phil. You should go check it out in Kentucky. But jumping into the Bethesda stuff it's ought to talk to a console maker about launching two consuls at once, but it's even stranger to be talking to them about a game company they just bought for seven point, five, billion dollars such are the peculiar times we live in in September Microsoft said it was buying cinemax the parent company of Bethesda in software and other top-flight studios that makes the likes of fall out of that might make the likes of fallout the other schools in doom. The planned purchase Amelie bolstered Microsoft's roster of internal studios. The deal will cap off the company's generation long shopping spree in attempt to counter the reps of rival Sony and unintended Oh which have both been long regarded as having stronger internal game making operations. The expanded roster of games also gives Microsoft a lot more content to bundle into their popular netflix style game pass subscription service in offer the via. The company's game streaming service, which lets players access games remotely in play them on their phones tablets devices. Spencer. That said in previous interviews that existing deals involving xanax Games would still be honored suggesting something like the time traveling game death loop will still come I. Two five is previously announced beyond that though fans have been beyond by have been wondering whether it's a Max Games would go xbox NPC only in other words they've wondered if playstation would stop getting fall-outs in miss out on the sequel. I wondered that to quote, is it possible to recoup? A billion dollar investment. If you don't sell elder scrolls six on playstation I asked says Stephen Yes it's been spencer quickly replied then he paused. I don't WanNa be flip about that. This deal was not done to take away from another player based like that nowhere in the documentation that we put together was, how do we key players other players from playing these games? We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to play to go play games but also say in the Model I'm not I'm just answering directly the question that you that you had when I think about where people are going to be playing the number of a and the number of devices that we had and we have cloud and. And Game Pass and our Council base I don't have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to make. An order to kind of make the deal work for. US, whatever that means end quote. We do know that Microsoft has made big studio purchase. has made a big purchase and kept his new franchise multi-platinum formed before that's what they did with Mo Yang and it's game minecraft. So it wouldn't be wild to see at five on playstation five period for now Spencer said the platforms for future is games will be determined on a case-by-case basis, and even if they make the Games multi-platform, Spencer's team can still boast in advantage cinemax games could be sold at full price on playstation, but offered at a large discount on the xbox platform is part of the ten dollars a month game pass subscription, a killer deal that already grants players launched a access to every new Microsoft published game. That was lots of read only. I'm sorry to make you just sit there and listen, but it's context to argument. We've all been having on a variety of podcast what this deal actually means. Elaine, what do you think do we see Bethesda Games the CINEMAX games now xbox games on playstation five in the future I would assume. So just because of the like logistical crap. Back End. Anytime money is involved with anything games. You are guaranteed that there's GonNa be some exclusivity of some kind. So that's what I would assume but as a game developer like. Like how Abbas many platforms as our games can be on the better us because that means we're reaching the most people. I have heard you know people who are so vested in the xbox ecosystem. Danny on earlier I've heard him talk about I've heard Paris talk about it effort all manner of conversation about this, and it's interesting to see the different sides people go to. Of course, it'll be multi platform, and then of course, it won't be you have this investment you seven point five, billion dollars right? Like why would you ever give that up and I? I. Find Myself Torn because I can make a case either way if I was a betting man right now at the, we're not even into the next generation. We don't know how these systems are going to run away. We don't know who's going to be the industry leader in how game pass nuts out. So and so forth. I would say that, yes, you will see the Bethesda Games you think of your big ones you're fall-outs your sky rooms, the ones with giant fan bases on other platforms being in that being playstation of course, because I do think that what Stephen Hits on at the end here is so powerful that if you are a fallout fan, if you are Sky Room Fan in, you are die hard for that franchise. Wouldn't you WANNA play it in the best place in the cheapest place to play it like I. Feel like xbox is making this argument that even if they put it on. And it was coming to playstation five and it is seventy dollars or you can pay fourteen dollars game pass ultimate stream it wherever you want play all these other hundreds of great games do all these different things. Again, this is the C. B. Unabashed in your marketing. This is the council we designed it for. This is where there's bells and whistles and were able to make use of all the teraflops and everything else the xbox series x can do like. Even though your advertising than it is on playstation for me that makes sense to hey, this is why you need to buy an xbox. Am I wrong? I mean, from my developer standpoint I, don't like to be honest I don't. I don't care. Side. Please listen listen like when it comes to studios making games like regardless, we need to buy developer kids for all consoles. And to like look at it from the perspective of studio whether they are owned by a parent company or not. There is financial conversations any to be had what if cool you have seven billion dollars by being an exclusive of Microsoft right because of that whole transaction. But what if you have the door open for another seven billion? branching off from other different console. So why wouldn't you take the fourteen billion and just go with a seven? So like to me like a as a developer that's what I would think of That's all executive decisions by the way US developers have. frigging say in any of this. But I could definitely say from the developer perspective having franchises that have already been established like scarring and having a the ability to understand how they work in different consoles than. Or even importing that stuff to a very specific console that has very specific hardware and perhaps very specific requirements. That's definitely GONNA be a challenge for of studios and that happened with a PS three actually that I recently found out. That the PS three, that architecture was so difficult. Was Terrible. Exactly. It was so difficult that like games like there had really tough time studios making cancer, the PS three, which is now what makes sense that we can have backwards compatibility specifically with three because it was a frigging nightmare to to deal with on the back end so i. Was a great example of that. If you remember. Sky. Room. Right was incredibly broken the longer. You played the way that game watch compiled information eventually made it unplayable and drop the frame rate and it took them forever to fix. That wasn't a quick fix but it wasn't you're talking about of working with different architectures and trying to figure all this out. Yeah. So let's To me in my mind that is number one concern when it comes to all these franchises like is it possible to to do the franchise and Change Architecture of the entire game works so that it works on that council specifically or can we what we call re factoring, which is reusing things that have been done before can reactor so that we can continue to stay on the next generation of the councils that we work with before So it's it's a lot to. Think. About. Nearing, like. Many Kudos in the engineering teams all over the Games industry because they definitely have to deal with a lot of crap that they are not given credit for when it comes to figuring hundred. These Situations Making Games is incredibly difficult and I think all of us is fans. Yeah. You know it as being a developer eighty line meteorite like you see it from side that I only interview people talk over drinks with people about like I hear these horror stories and can't imagine a day to day, and then not even a removed the horror stories from it just in general making magic from nothing like making games is a magical thing and we totally take that for grant. We totally don't give that credit, take it for granted. Yeah, and sit there like, Oh, well, why did they just hit the button in Puerto over and make this work and how hard could it be to go between the PS five in an xbox series x Can Be the difference of the night and day Ryan because I terry. Systems are to hardware. So

"He's a left handed. Bat. Ease really good defensively he I mean he's a guy who is he's super super intense. I mean he's he's the Anti Yastrzemski in terms of his body language on the field and whatnot You think the fans will be able to get over that fact that he wore blue all those years. Yeah I think. There's a lot of the fan base in spring training saying the bringing tweak. You remember that WHO's the well a couple of them Jump Peterson and he's maybe he's a Kappler a guy. He's a Zaidi kind of guy. He kills right handers although this year he just didn't hit. On the local Guy Gallo Alto and he crushes the ball eat I mean mccovey cove could could be as daily target. Yeah and he he's such a personality and You probably hate to play against them. Love the Jonathan that Kinda Guy. But I like that idea now we heard from Zaidi they want another left handed bat right now if you look down the free agent list, there's a kid across the Bay Tommy was Stella who's who could do what they wanted Pablo Sandoval and and smoke to do in. That's like the come up as left-hander in and hit the ball and maybe play some third base smoke wasn't going to do that. But Pablo didn't do much of that. But you know this guy could play around the Infield and does bat left handed I don't know if the as we're getting let go of this guy because he's been so valuable. Yeah down. Duly talked about him like He. He's a God, you know. So I mean I don't go eating tactic it isn't bad one. But Yeah You know there's another another infielder who whose left handed, who could fit the bill to Brad Miller that's a guy who can also play a little bit outfield. He was with the raise and he's actually in the playoffs right now with the cardinals. I believe that's another name You know the bullpen you speaking you know of as you brought up a an know they need right handed relievers. There's a free agent named Blake China WHO's going to be out there now you've. You probably learn more I'm sorry. Would no an Alex Cullen May to to? closers obviously they're going to be big money guys or are they are teams maybe guys like that were just all to the giants because they spend a dollar more than the next team or they realize it's not a bad place to pitch you know. Especially, with Hendrix, sued digs the bay area and all that. But. On how many teams are GonNa be wanting to spend a ton of money on closers? Yeah million over four years well, ain't gonNA happen and. Those two guys are just so elite and would dislike I said solidify everything in the giants bullpen but..

That's a male he went. What about you got to know do ban what what about his confidence level I I've never seen that kid come up. Like knowing, he's going to succeed as much as this guy a lot of guys come up I, hope I do well, I i. You know I want to do well but this guy, I know I'm going to do I, want to win a gold glove and Sarah dude, you haven't ever played the position. That much confidence in me he does carries himself that way too. It's it's remarkable. The Guy so confident and and every you know we saw him at first I game I saw him play was with San Antonio. And I heard about this guy and the very next day he was traded. So we just changed clubhouses he went from San Antonio the Sacramento clubhouse. So we got to see him as a river cat after at first time seeing CNN play next days with rare cats it was bizarre. So he just changed clubhouses. Recovering Cohen did with the as and just. Three. So he was with with us and he was he was great. You know and and. You know I think. He's guys he's going to succeed and he's got to. You went to Capitol Christian out here in. Sacramento. After being from under US, and he's just a treat to watch where he plays the secondary short third. Centerfield. Made some base running blunders with us I think at the end of the year and made some mistakes but but learn like one thing I will say like. He learned from him right like I A he. Bring many office is I said, you know you talk to the guy is not gonNa make the same mistake second he's learned from and make The same mistake twice and he was yeah, he's he's a tremendous player and I think it's just just once he gets a feel for the system up there once he gets. Years in really comfortable and he's going to. Put together some some impressive impressive numbers play a a competent kid. That's for sure how about Alex? dickerson. He he he was in Sacramento for a spell after the giants got him from the padres and.

Right. <Speech_Male> You just can't have <Speech_Male> fans. <Speech_Male> By their very <Speech_Male> nature of that thing, they're all <Speech_Male> crowding up against each <Speech_Male> other to see the game <Speech_Male> and you can't <Speech_Male> have that during a pandemic. <Speech_Male> So it might be <Silence> a moot point next year. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Eventually <Speech_Male> I think something <Speech_Male> I don't know <Speech_Male> if the ready to do it but <Speech_Male> like you say <Speech_Male> that Ostler's ideas <Speech_Male> great is that way you get <Silence> the best <SpeakerChange> of both worlds. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> Right and <Speech_Telephony_Male> <hes> what as <Speech_Male> we conclude here <Speech_Male> on this edition <Speech_Male> of giant splash <Silence> just <Speech_Male> you got one <Speech_Male> month left of the baseball <Speech_Male> season. "Again, it's in seventy, nine, but But yeah and it just hitting I. It's just that's a fun thing to watch and the giants the right handed hitting in particular. You know we you know to me floors in Solano are definitely for real as as solid right handed hitters they're not going to be hitting four thirty or whatever but. But you what's the way they approach things in it's it's no accident in arts right handed. Longoria. Certainly still do things and you know dishonest later doing things and maybe jalen Davidson becomes a factor in all of which made the you know the release of underpants a little more palatable because they're. So they're so strong from the right side and it is it's It's I. I don't think it's accidental, and then you get yeahs Dickerson from the left side and It's it's just a it's a you're right a team that hints consistently has always GonNa be fun to watch. Yeah. That's you know that's been the problem. I. Mean the giants in there. Even in their good years, they would win games four to three and. Five five before and you know the fans were happy because they won. But now all of a sudden you start losing games four to three and three to two, and it's just it's just such a big honor and you you wrote another column that was interesting. It was part of your three DOT lounge three dot launches a big big competitor, the boom boom room. One of us is going to put the other. Out Our head to head I, tell you had to had here but you wrote you wrote a column about how you thought there were two aspects of tradition that should be eliminated. Now, one of them being the you know have names on the back of the uniforms at home which giants have not had that was a Peter McGowan thing and also keeping those poor polls boarded up they boarded them up in right field. To keep the keep fans from congregating because that was not healthy in the Cova crisis but it's had the added effect or the unexpected effect of keeping some of that wind at bay and making Oracle more of a hitters. Park. You still feel that way or did did people screaming at you change your mind completely reverse field on both of them? Very sensitive to criticism. No. Not at all I mean, you know with the with the the names on the backs that's me just in general. It is something that that you need to have. Now admittedly sharp fans remember rising the numbers and they're they're getting all over. If you're city, they should all be identified but there's a lot of fans. and. Know their casual fans that they may not know slater. From Dogar, they just don't you know and shots at the dugout especially telling when somebody somebody hits a home run and he gets back to the Dugout you've got these guys the acting all crazy and it's number twenty two and under twenty nine who are they? Really I mean if they just came up on Tuesday it just doesn't make sense to me and it's going. To be a lot of transition with US club as it goes on, we'd mentioned all those names. Some of those guys are gonNA be big leaguers they're gonNa ever numbers and guys are GonNa come in from other places. It just seems me just pretty obvious that is just put the names on the back of the damn uniform. It's not that yeah, and it seems to be across the board feeling talking to Larry Baer the giants you know all the way across the executive board and really everybody is in agreement there..

"The teams did not play an even number of games, but you could have a situation this year where. You know the the the mets. Phillies phillies are a better example the. Phillies could end up playing. Fifty four games. For instance, the giants could end up playing sixty and affiliates could have a better winning percentage and they could knock the giants out of the playoffs and I, mean I think that would be kind of I don't think people around here would be happy about that. Yeah it's. There's so much craziness in Snore I mean. The cardinals get in there and they haven't finished their run of eighteenth straight triple headers or whatever it is. It's just GONNA be mad at my attitude on on that as you're just GonNa have to ride with with anything anything that comes down. You just have to go you know what? This is what we have. You know in eighty one. The cardinals and the reds had had arguments with a score as best record the best record in the second half and they both didn't even get into the playoffs and you just by the time the dodgers the Yankees in the world series, it was very kind of a cool season and We can have that again this year. So it's GonNa be weird and the the the one percent is gonNA is gonNA screw some teams but you know to me Henry you you have to win the whole thing this year to make really something that is truly meaningful and lasts and becomes part of your lower. I think just make the playoffs. Yeah. Be Awesome for the giants real side for any team making the playoffs or not making the playoffs you know. It's not it's not like a normal season where at some kind of landmark. Wilno the fun. The funny thing to me and I think giants fans would get somewhat a kick out of this. If the dodgers finally won their first world series in thirty two years and everybody said, well, it doesn't mean as much. because. They only played at sixty games season on the other hand I've heard people say that in some ways they would be more meaningful because of everything teams had to get through because. Mitt. Just to get to the position where you could be the number one seat in the play offs and and get to the play offs you know you'd have to have have to have health. In a year where a bunch of guys were getting hurt pitchers especially because of the Short Ram and you have to get through another round of the playoffs force, you can look at it the other way this could be you know just one more round of the playoffs for the for the dodgers to You know the something you know gag on something and not win. I mean I mean. The I mean you think that the whoever wins the world series can really say, Hey, you know we deserve this championship we looked at like every other championship. It's not gonNA be viewed that way a among the general public. I. Don't think. I think there's a degree of legitimacy too. But just the fact that if they actually finish but you know what I don't think he's talked about it not. Whoever wins this thing? That group of guys is going to sit back and start talking about what they went through mentally to get through this? I mean, there's so much anxiety you know it's it started with a giant buster posey you know just weighing his life options..

"If indeed, that's a reason the ball travels a little better but we would that be a consideration I know that not hill gang is is quite popular out there but do you think it affects? The wind patterns and therefore the flight of the ball or in could that be on the table for for leaving? Yeah. I. Mean I. Don't really want to speak out of turn Ballpark Kinda decisions or a lot of people would be involved in those but dancer the question. It certainly, a plausible theory for me but I think about you know we we made a number of changes to the ballpark obviously putting the bullpens out in Centerfield You know I think anytime you chain structurally the configuration of the Ballpark you know wind patterns are so complicated. It's really hard to know how things are going to effected. So if if if some wind pattern expert came in and said, putting the bullpens in in Centerfield has increased, the carry out to right field would believe it I'm none of us really know any better so I think. Between the you know changes made in center field. You know not having fans at the park who knows how that affects affects things in the aerodynamics So I think that could be due to a number of actors I. Think we're open to anything I mean certainly I know our players have been very happy to see some that carry out to right field, and hopefully we can take advantage of it at these tapes we have coming up. We'll forearm. Thank you so much for this and thanks for your honesty and willingness to address all these topics much absolutely. I wanted to again. "Of the giants organization and a real positive has been the stability of the leadership. We had a lot of people in leadership positions for for long periods of time and You know I think that's one reason why diversity is not maybe as reflected in our leadership but I know all the way to the top of the organization to Greg Johnson and Rob Dean. This is a priority and For Larry Myself as well we're certainly going to make it a priority going forward. Okay. Maybe a couple more I. mean you're coming up here at facing the Houston Astros I mean they're a different league but you are with the dodgers in seventeen, the world series seven games, and you had personal stake in that series What what is your thought about the Astros scandal including in regard to the years you're with the dodgers would kind of made a difference. Can we just go back to talking about Joey Bar? I You know look I, it's tough I. I would echo a lot of you know what dodger players have have said, which is the you look back I mean that was a heart wrenching loss. You know you know in two thousand, seventeen I think it was one of the best world series ever played it went to seven games. There is a lot of close games. There are a lot of Java And you know you you. You're always going to have that what if in your head, you know and that that part of his is tough and obviously for me, I've left the organization you know. So that kind of chapters closed for me I think for. Good number of guys that still with the dodger organization I know that there continue to aspire to win the world series and I think that might help them get some closure on it but you know for any of us that were, there are no longer there I think it's maybe even a tougher cult swallow. So you know I know as an industry. We've turned the page on it and I think MLB's done a really amazing job especially lighter the pandemic in and some of the issues that we have logistically ballparks right now feel very confident that this kind of thing isn't happening anymore and that's really important. But you know I would be lying if I said that you know personally you didn't. News coming out and You know just feel like you know you..

"To be critical of any player organization that that that had the sprout up because let's face it. It's just ubiquitous in society right now and you know there's It it doesn't. You don't have to be a situation where someone necessarily did something wrong I mean that said I think we are all really proud of our players, our staff how careful they've been how seriously they're taking this you know the leadership of the Teen Austin's later are player Rep You know I think they have the right perspective about this, which is. Look we know that some of this is out of our hands but everything that's in our hands. We're GONNA do the right way. And that's really carried throughout our organization. We've you know instituted family testing You know employees testing even beyond what's required by Major League Baseball and You know just feel like a lot of those measures you know it's it's a, it's a credit to our ownership who? Encouraged us to invest in in testing and make sure R- environment as safe as possible. He sure Farhan you you've been very vocal supporting the black lives movement. We've seen and read your statements. We see and hear your words on the scoreboard before every game along with Kappler's and. Jalen Davis's Yastrzhembsky's Renewals Why do you feel the need to be expressive? You know there's a there's obviously some. Broad things on in society that you know I'm happy to comment on but you know as much as anything. You know I I, guess hearken back to the bill parcells quote. You are what your record says you are I mean you can say this in the realm of diversity as well. You look at the number of African American players that we have at the major league level of the amount of African American managers coaches, Front Office people weaken trot out every excuse in the book about why that is but you are what your record says you are in an industry you know we have to do better and so that's Where you know some of these stick to sports stuff doesn't resonate with me because you know where big industry and you know we have a really important place in society and I think we have to get our own house in order and that's why I'm proud to be a member of the giants organization that to your point is making our support for the black lives. Matter Movement very visible you know, and then from a broader societal perspective I would say the same thing that You know there is a clear need for change in society for a greater sense of racial justice and You know I've learned that you know when you're in a position of leadership in and you have a voice, you have a responsibility to speak up and you know some of the comments that I've made over the last couple of months I've been surprised by you know some of the feedback I've gotten you know recognizing how important it's been people to hear me speak out people in the giants organization other friends that have were acquaintances from around the game and it just..

"Hi Everyone I'm John Shea of the San Francisco, Chronicle and thanks for joining us on the podcast. Our guest is far Han Zaidi. The giants President of baseball operations and he shares in our wide ranging discussion his thoughts on manager Gabe Kaplan will touch on the dodgers series the fast starts by Mike Disrupt Ski and Donovan Solano the slow starts by one hundred pence and Pablo Sandoval and what's up with Joey. Bar. Enjoy. Well, thanks for joining me for Honda. Days. They didn't well, thank you wanted to ask first of all your impression so far I, mean the offense has been impressive in in many ways including the ability to come back from early deficits never a good thing but the rotation wasn't all that efficient early on you know, and then lately with Cueto in Guzman in La, very promising the defense has has been down obviously leading the majors, Nares and There are some fundamental issues but you know there's been good in bad and as we sit here, the giants are seven and tents just wanted to ask early impressions or we're at the quarter or at the quarter-point. So it's not that early I guess. But so yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. It's it's been a mixed bag. There's been things we've been really encouraged by certainly like you mentioned the offense, the offense overall but also the resiliency of the offense to come back in in certain scenarios obviously Solano has. Done an amazing job Put Up. Use numbers and gun lot of big. It's for us You know defensively look, we're not a team that has a ton of teams speed. We're not GONNA have a ton of range in the field but I think. An aspect of defense that's been. A little disappointing and has shown up in some Big Times in certain games is you know some of the fundamentals you look up on Donna Roster we've got a lot of really sound veteran defenders who you know will make plays consistency consistently in the field and You know unfortunately, you know in a couple of spots the defense has been noth- a little bit and you know to your point on the pitching staff the rotation is really coming together Guzman's starting in L. A. Like. Invention was phenomenal and Johnny really battled in and did a great job keeping that offense off downs, and again you know those would be impressed start against any team but you know lineup like added particularly impressive in obviously, Logan webs done a really nice job for us, and as those guys Kinda get stretched out more and you know we're able to build up their pitch counts I, see them taking on more a load which I think will. Help alleviate a little bit of what the bullpens. Done and had to do so far. This year we've got a younger bullpen and I think we need to get a position where we can protect them a little bit and so we're we're clearly moving in that direction and there's a lot of positive sides on the pitching staff as well..

"Hunt But you know you guys got A. He's got a good reputation he's always been one of those storm in the as side kind of guys seems to come up with big hits against Oakland so I think you know it's one of those you look at the metrics and go like maybe but not necessarily an impressive Possibility for this position But I think the as front office went out. Yeah we know that guy. We know who that guy so he may have a little bit of an inside edge but Franklin bredow and Jorges Matteo out of options both came over and huge trades. Obviously bread or the one remaining piece from the Donaldson deal Tale of the sunny great deal lightning-fast has not played in the Big Leagues Bread. Oh has gotten some chances but never really was allowed to sort of settle in and play okay every day so they are also possibilities sheldon. Noisy looked really good and at times and September call up. He has options left all three of summer right handed and vinyl mashing the as acquired as a rule five guy. There's that twenty sixth man spot. I suspect he might have an inside track for the twenty sixth man spot. He's left handed hitting if you WANNA utility guy who's left handed hitter to go along with Chad pender. WHO's a right handed hitter? Maybe that's the spot for him so a lot of things to look at some big name guys from the as prospect list and Tony Kemp a former Astro plus a rule five guy. That is the big question mark and you know. Hey it's the as they could sign somebody pick somebody up during spring training. We've certainly seen it before. They talked about the to the mets as reported during the winter meetings about lowry The mets were willing to pick couple out of that contract. Which I'm not sure they are? I could see that happening. He's a switch hitter. The as no one that would be a an interesting little reunion. You know you know billy will bring him back at some point now Henry. Your number one question That ah I'll do the front of fanfare what what is on tap. You mean Is there is question number one. My question number one is is the giants best player for Twenty Twenty even in the organization And I I tell you I've been doing these five questions like you have. I mean going back to the days where we used to write these out longhand old English calligraphy And send them out to the scribes for proof reading And I've never asked a question like this in the five questions Russians but you know we saw for number one. We saw with far Hans idea last year. He's a tinkerer he will. He's not afraid to use the waiver. Wire he's not afraid to you change the roster at any time and you know we'd so much talk before last season and into spring training about who's GonNa hit where and who's going to do what and then the two. The best players on the team ended up being Mike. You Stransky who they signed the as they were packing their bags leaving Scottsdale for home And then Kevin Pillar they traded for In the first week of the season and they ended up Being the the two best hitters on the team and so I think the key here is that you you can't go into spring. I see I always see people. Putting projected lineups out there and projected win totals and all that. But how. How do you know when it's quite possible that You know there's a player you're out there that the giants had been eyeing who might end up on waivers with another team or the giants have been talking trade with a team but they can't get the trade done until the season begins which just what the case was with Polara last year. And that's what makes this kind of a rebuild sort of interesting and I think that the giants would love up to be in a position where the number one question would be who's GonNa play second base Because right now the giants number one question is who's GonNa play anywhere and You know alw- who's going to be actually paying meal money in spring training to the guy who might end up being their number one player and with that we have gone through the five questions and I appreciate the Susan. This is a lot of fun. let's do this again. Yeah will you mentioned that tinkerers. Henry I mean we are both lucky enough to cover teams that tinker a ton. So I think that will engender a lot of conversations. I look forward to next one. Yeah we should I mean we I should even either come to Mesa this spring or you can come to Scottsdale. We could meet in a demilitarized zone about bat whereas at Tempe Tempe is yeah they'll tempe. Here's the demilitarized zone. Okay Susan great talking to you fantastic. "Tails and. It is heads so accurate. I cannot so you. Can't you hear the difference between a heads and a chance. Okay so I deferred. I want the ball in the second note. I will ask you the first question Nominal so here. We go the the fifth key question. heading into the season for the as and of course these are quite different. TV or two teams and quite quite different places right now. The answer a ninety seven win team trying to win one hundred and Going into the season All pretty much set. The giants are GONNA lose one hundred games based on what all the fans thank So these are going to be far different questions. I think in part number five after the as can the team take steps during during the spring to avoid another slow start. You know. It's funny. He entire twenty three years of covered. The as this is Ben Dan. They're trend. They are late starters. But it's particularly been exacerbated. The last two years each of the last two years from mid June on the as has been the best team in baseball before that they've put themselves a little bit of a whole so. I think the feeling around the team is get going better. You know at maybe an extra five winds wants to the total and and maybe that gets the division but You know easier said than done. Are there steps you can take during the spring Chur spring helps with decision making You know maybe if you have a have more defensive drills or a situational hitting drills as off and maybe doesn't like completely collapsed as it didn't last week the season and But you know what the as are the as I have will follow their usual home. Start and killer end your which funnier at at that too. I remember that Felipe Hailu manage the as the as the expos His teams were always so young and they always came and out of the gate strong and even in spring training and the giants were like an old stodgy team and You know we always just assume that younger teams would get out of the gate faster. I mean a lot of those guys played winter ball They just kind of get their bodies and shape quicker and it's funny to hear an as team that is still fairly young wrong in a lot of spots having trouble out of the gate and you know being sorta like me where I have to be up two hours and eight cups of coffee before I can get going well. Here's one Theory that actually Kinda maybe bear. Some water is that The as have so much turnover typically off seasons. You know that you're spending maybe the first few weeks getting adjusted to each other still because of the turnover in the interesting thing. This year is almost no turnover so that might be the one thing that that it gets them going. Little started now hiring. It seems to me at at midseason every year we talk about you know. Potential deals last year. We talked about. Maybe he's looking at giants relievers specifically Smith not seem like everybody was those guys are gone now aspect maybe questioned her five in fall is the bullpen. Yeah for the giants actually watching his came back. I mean that's an interesting story. He had a player option and He was I. Think all intent on exercising precising it and then. He fractured his finger. Trying to tag a runner in Saint Louis So he really didn't have any other choice. He exercised the option. And he's going to be back. I mean this is. This is an interesting question to me because the bullpen was I mean really the giants down real downward spiral really began after they lost the playoff game to the cubs in two twenty sixteen when they couldn't save a five two lead going into the ninth inning. So they sign Melanson and that just sort of started the cascade downward And now we're back to square one. Nobody really knows who is going to close for the giants I I don't think a lot of people know who the relievers are for the giants of this year. And I mean it is going to be Tony. He walks in The one veteran they also signed a Jerry blevins the former athletic another left-hander and they have a lot of youth in the bullpen. And it's guys some a lot of guys they tried out last year and I mean guys like a Sean Anderson who was a starter turned reliever You have John Dell Gustav de Sam Coon Rod. These are not household names but I think the giants are going to have to find some seventh eighth and ninth inning out. Get some outs from from some of these guys. They've got a rule five game Guy Named Danny Martinez WHO throws up you know in the eye nineties? I mean he's he's a candidate as well Melvina. Don Who's a prospect for the giants WHO also throws in the high nineties? So the giants have a lot of these guys Who who really can bring it And there really is no Kind of rhyme or reason as we know it right now who's GonNa Pitch when And the reason I think this is an important question even though the giants are are not going to win the division this year. They're not going to go into the playoffs. They very well might have their four straight losing seasons. You might think well what does it matter. Well you know what it's GonNa be a long season as it is probably with a lot of youth in fits and starts send you know some bad stretches but I tell you what if the giants do get leads three to five to four whatever and they can't find somebody to consistently close them in the ninth. I think that is really going to make a long season. I couldn't even tell you who the incumbent is right now It could be Tony Watson it it could be Sean Anderson And you know the good thing for the as of courses we. We know who they're closer is going to be but who is is going to catch for this team as we go into a question. Four for the four key questions for the as I mean. Are they going to add a.

"They were very grateful to get a ride down third street to the chronicle which was a heroin trip in the darkness and there are some pretty menacing characters out there. Look like they were bent on mayhem and when we got to the city I remember Tom. Boswell saying where are we. We were in downtown downtown San Francisco with no lights and that was an experience in itself so we met her way into the chronicle building For some reason that we had complete power outage here The third floor was not accessible. assessable were on the second floor with emergency power in extremely dim light trying to hammer out stories on laptops from the war of eighteen twelve and and it was really really primitive creative and as it turned out we printed just an eight page edition for the following morning. There was only one sport story kind of a staff conglomeration and the work that we did Ernest cornices it was didn't appear then the following day we were still dealing with a power outage and a bunch of US managed to get some pieces into a sixteen page chronicle that appeared the following day and that was It was it was definitely an adventure trying to to pull off something like guess with basically no assets but no. We were all rewarded that we're able to do something and you know basically felt lucky to be all in one piece As opposed to some of the horrors does that were unfolding in in the bay area. Yes in a darkened city That's where all the reporters that's where the teams all came to try and find out what what was going to happen to the world series and and we know obviously that It was sort of secondary to the all the the damage and the death and injuries in the city Baseball was relatively attuned to that. And you and I both had a very bizarre experience. Probably the most bizarre press conference that that both you and I had been into five incident had just become commissioner of baseball upon the death of Bart Giamatti the sudden death of Bart Giamatti and he held a press conference inside a ballroom. Home at the Saint Francis. Hotel with no microphones. No lights no anything. It was actually a candlelight press conference you remember that absolutely will after right you know done my duty and San Mateo on Peninsula. You know I slept at my friend's parents house on the couch. Daly city got a few hours. Sleep came to that press conference difference on as it turns out as I learned in doing this oral history preceding. The press conference was a candlelight meeting with Vincent and Bob Murray and the Haas's they were talking about what they were going to say the president's what they were going to do and Mayor and the police chief apparently kind of burst into this meeting and said I'm not going to be able to send anyone to candlestick to inspect it for a while right. And and the and the well. Not only inspecting the ballpark but also The police required for a world series. As I think that ultimately was why they made the decision to postpone the world series You know at first there was talk about canceling all together which had had that had never her that it never happened and they were talking about canceling moving it out of the year? We're moving it out of the area right finding a neutral site and You know the police the lack the say we need our police elsewhere. We need we need all of our People elsewhere and ultimately the decision was made to restart it Ten days later. And I I got the sense And I don't think this is an original thought that you know that at a p at by that point ten days after I think that people wanted the world series they I needed the world series as a as a diversion to You know sort of sort of get back to baseball now. The giants as had two very different ways of approaching this The giants held these workouts at candlestick everyday they played a couple of simulated games I remember having to take the ferry from the East Bay to get there To to get into the city because of the bridge but the as did something completely different And I did you. Did you travel down to Arizona with the as I did. Not because like I said Susan Foreign Office still the beat writers. I just think she might have But they had talked about doing it. You know within a day or two after the quake sort of realized it was too soon and I think waited awhile. I don't think they went bound for five or six days. Might have been that weekend right because it was. The quake was on a Tuesday. The seventeen th. The series resumed Friday. The twenty seventh which I think we can say given the detachment detachment of thirty years was inappropriate delay. Absolutely my Dad always tells me about the NFL. Starting playing games two days after Kennedy was assassinated. And how horrible no decision. It seemed at the time and it looks even worse now you know given the power of time and detachment so I think baseball made the right decision on many levels the the practicality of not having the police officers but also the respect for the victims and and you're right at some point life needed to go on but not two days later maybe ten days later and the as Were credited for bringing taking their players away to a warm weather place where they were free from the distractions. I'm not minimizing. What happened to the people who passed away and and the damage and the injuries but From baseball since those were distractions and actually in your oral history. You Talk to Sandy Alderson. He told you something interesting from a baseball fan. I I couple of things. First of all he said The Night of game three which I never heard this until recently Steve Kroner actually talked to sandy in contributed contributed to our story That they weren't sure Bob Welch was going to be able to pitch You mentioned you know Stewart and more had had shackled the giants and the first two games and as it turned ironed out Stuart Moore came back and Games three and four given the delay but originally Bob Welch's scheduled pitch game three but apparently he had strained his hamstring. A few days earlier shag ing fly balls and batting practice so the as were not sure at all he could pitch in game three they were going to let them warm up. See how it went and if he could pitch Kurt. Young who more recently has been the giants pitching coach but was on that a staff was gonNA pitch that game So that I had never heard that before that I found that kind of interesting and the other point sandy made about about going Arizona was that he thought at some point. People were going to get past the earthquake. It didn't seem like it immediately. But he's right. Eventually you move on. And he wanted their fans to remember world series victory. You know that thirty years later as we hear we stand in two thousand nineteen that people were GonNa remember the outcome almost as much as the earthquake. Maybe not but certainly people remember that the as role to victory so that was part of their thinking and to their credit. You know Dave was very very involved in the community efforts here and they sold ten. They sold out Phoenix Municipal Stadium and donated all the money earthquake relief so I think they did it in a in in a respectful way and they played a couple of inter squad games in in Arizona. Much like the giants did at candlestick. And kind of got away from the the mayhem or the Uncertainty here in the bay area for a couple of days and then came back and obviously finished off finished sweet. Yeah there's a revisionist history that If they had gotten to play an uninterrupted world series the giants would have no. You're shaking your head. No no giants were a very good team. Diana's team once they acquired Ricky Henderson in June. It's one out of the best teams of all time. And and you and I covered the eighty nine reunion this year for the giants and I talked a lot of the players and they they all said we were GONNA get smoked. One way or another I will tell you the Sir my one of my lasting memories of my life not just of you know that series and the earthquake was when they did resume before game three at candlestick when people were filing in to a ballpark that actually stood up extremely well. The the damage that had occurred to candlestick was it was cosmetic it was like there were some. I mean. People said there were holes that you could look down from the upper deck but that was just the expansion joints doing their jobs and swim and moving back and forth which had the effect of maybe pushing some of the concrete stairs stairs out. But that that's cosmetic that that was not structural. I'll never forget this and and really it. It may be the only time I ever remember crying at a baseball stadium. Liam was when vowel diamond and the members of the beach. Blanket Babylon show They came out onto the field in full costume and Sang Sang. The Song San Francisco which was from an old an old movie and You Know San Francisco Open Your Golden Gate etc.. And that's that's when you you know how it is when you have you know ten. It's like riding a bicycle. You have ten days of this. You're just working working working and you didn't really have a chance to kind of fully appreciate. She ate what happened with this earthquake. And that was the moment I fully appreciate it And I just kind of broke down a little bit in the press box. Now I had mentioned earlier that Terry Steinbach wife in that iconic picture was was crying and he was comforting her but she came back and you actually talked. Talk to her At the You know you actually talked to her for the oral history story What did she say I did? Yeah I mean I know the Terry pretty well from my days covering the as and Mary was always around very sweet person So she had the the the reason behind that was they only have three children three grown kids now but they only had one and child at the time a two year. Old Girl named Jill who usually came to the Games but they decided to keep with the babysitter and Alameda that night Just because it was the world series and want what the distraction of a two year old and so they couldn't reach her you know and they were there for Minnesota and and they were unnerved obviously by the earthquake and ah even though they thought she was probably okay. They couldn't get a hold of the babysitter to confirm that. So that's wise. Mary was so upset. She didn't get Terry said she didn't get hit by brick. She didn't she wasn't isn't physically injured at all. She was just unnerved by the uncertainty of it all And that's why that picture became sort of famous and the funny little story. I'll tell on that or she told me two things one. Her three kids as they went through middle school in Minnesota would take earth science class and they would learn about earthquakes and and in each of their three classes they would be shown the video from the world series and they saw their mother crying hysterically. Oh that's amazing so. She actually apologized to her kids because her kids became very self conscious about this middle school right seeing her on the video and the other thing is she did go back to the world series ten days later when it resumed and she walked on the wives bus US and all the other wives gave her an ovation because they weren't sure she was coming back but she realized after ten days. You need to be there. Wanted to be there to see Terry the NBA's play and it was just sort of emotional. Momentary Reaction Yeah you know and I mean obviously the as have not won a world series this since and You know the giants went on to win three. That remains a very iconic moment In as history when I believe the final out was it was a ground ball to first that The ball was thrown to Dennis Eckersley and he caught the ball and celebrated as she would celebrate. One thing. I do recall. You can tell me if this is true or not. True this is was I do know that the giants and as clubhouses houses were They were next to each other They were you know the two doors were about ten feet apart in the same tunnel down the right field line and the one thing that you know. I don't remember hearing was a lot of screaming the whole Champagne Party and what we were told and I think what was written was that The the celebration was a little bit subdued just because of what that world series represented and for the people who lost their lives said it was that all right yeah. I don't recall specifics but I do know it was subdued. I believe there was no champagne..

We were both Oh candlestick to cover game. Three of the first and so far only bay bridge world series between the giants and the as at five Oh four. PM The bay area was struck by what what is now known as the Loma Prieta earthquake. A six point nine magnitude Shaker that did so much damage in the bay area killed sixty three people injured compounds in postponed the world series for ten days. Wherever you get your podcasts wild west? I'd like to bring Ron in here. Now Ron how are you doing good. Thanks for having me thirtieth anniversary boy. I think that we're really this. Also be a podcast About the the aging process and how we're both kind of transitioning into senior citizenship young then we were both young and I was in my second year covering the giants. I was working for the Oakland Tribune. They made me a baseball writer. You're at the Sacramento. Beat now which year of that was was it for you. I was actually backing up. That was Susan Four Nas last year on the beat I backed up on the as most of that year and then took over the beat in nineteen ninety because I was determined only to cover you know. World series champions actually had five good years from nine hundred ninety four. Very the as you know very good team very interesting team full of dynamic personalities But I was writing sidebars during the postseason I was in Toronto with the as and the Al Lcs and then obviously at at the stick that Unforgettable nights and I I was I was the beat reporter for the Oakland Tribune and I it was my second year and I'd covered the one thousand nine hundred eight world series at the A.'s. Were in so. It wasn't my first Rodeo in terms of world series but it was a huge deal. The giants were playing the as it was a world series that people talked about as being not interesting to the people outside the bay area you know other than the fact that you had the bash brothers and the Pacific Stock Exchange Exchange. And you know we all talked about how the networks really didn't think it was anything that was going to garner much attention and then at five. Oh four it garnered a heck of a lot of attention and maybe you could just just. We'll just take turns here. Reciting are most vivid memories of that night. How about you were thinking you bring up a good point that I think it's lost in the history books and rightly so because of the earthquake but before the earthquake hit at least here in northern California? That was a big deal. I mean it's literally a once in a lifetime thing for the as and the giants to get in the world series. I mean I grew grew up in Chicago never happened with the cubs and the White Sox didn't happen to New York until what two thousand and of course New Yorkers thought that was a big deal so it was a pretty cool event sporting event in those that context before the earthquake struck and then obviously acquired a whole new dimension. I was actually sitting in a very small room beneath the upper deck. And I'm one of those makeshift media. workrooms eating a box lunch that we're all used to and going over some game notes and getting ready not a good place to be if you think about it. I mean cement ceiling probably eight ten feet high. Thank God candlesticks stood but my vivid memory is looking up and seeing Tony Kornheiser and I believe it was bill conlon of the Philadelphia Paper freaking out to east coast guys who hadn't been through earthquakes. They they did the right thing. They were in a door doorway and held. But I mean to me. It didn't initially feel any worse than any number of earthquakes we had gone through as Californians. I'd moved moved here at age twelve so I've been through a few in southern California and then a couple of my college days in Berkeley So at first it didn't seem that devastating. And then you start hearing the buys and you go outside and you see some cracks in the upper deck and you know we're getting out about the bay bridge and such and it obviously was a whole lot worse than than a normal earthquake. Yeah I mean my first memory was that I had agreed foolishly to speak that afternoon at a luncheon of a Rotary Club in Oakland and I just remember driving to the the Rotary Club. Lunch in the game was supposed to start at about you know just after five and I just remember thinking to myself boy this is GonNa be a long day. I had no idea and You know the earthquake itself. I mean well first of all it was it was a big deal like you said and The the giants had gotten smoke. The smoke them in the first two games stewart and Mike like more pitched jams the giants. I think scored one run total in the two games and there really was a sense that now that those two pitchers were out of the way that the giants at home actually had at a shot to win. This is completely aside of course with a ten day break with the World Series Stewart and more got to pitch again and That's all she wrote. The thing I remember most is is the press box itself at candlestick. It was really just a football. Luxury box That had that is converted to a press box during the off season. It had some tables but had these big you know kind of fluffy chairs that you sat in and you really couldn't move in them and the press box itself at candlestick it was connected to the upper deck. Structurally you didn't worry about it. But it's still kind of hung over the lower deck. If I stood up and looked out my window there was nothing below me other than people in the lower deck and you had the sensation that the thing could just fall apart and would go diving down into the into the first deck back and I had been through the Sylmar earthquake in Los Angeles when I was eleven years old in one thousand nine hundred seventy one. It was a quake that It was over a seven. I believe it was was a seven and actually killed about seventy people in a brand new hospital that collapsed and I just like you I. It just didn't seem like it. was that big an earthquake but I do remember all the East Coast Writers and mid the midwest writers were trying to get out of these big overstuffed chairs to try and get out and they just couldn't move and they kept running. We knew each other. And I remember Nick Peters of the Sacramento Bee the late Nick Peters and I remember him yelling as loud as he could. Don't panic don't panic and then of course yes I heard just like you did like everybody cheers from the crowd. You saw that Famous picture of a fan holding up a sign. Saying something like if you think that was something wait till the giants hit And then my first notion that there was not going to be baseball was when I looked up and I saw that the lights standards were out and that the scoreboard org was all jumbled and I think a lot of us We saw really quickly that the action. The news was now all the way onto the field Did you ever have a sense going to be baseball. One senators quake-hit not really know and it was hard to understand it. I what was happening because you know we're so a accustomed to instant information in twitter and cell phones and none of that really existed at the time so you didn't know right away. One of the people I talked to for the oral history you mentioned was George Kosta. WHO's the head of security and operations at the giants And he said they were trying to put together information in the immediate aftermath around around that police car right behind home plate And one of the you know they kind of said okay. We don't have power we don't have a PA system We don't know when the lights are GonNA come back on or if they're gonNA come back gone and that's when they started sort of going through the list and realizing even before they heard the extent of the damage throughout the bay area. He probably wasn't practical to play a game with sixty thousand thousand people In that facility and who knows about aftershocks so they sort of made a very rational Decision after a a conversation about the situation in you know and and ended up Postponing the game fairly quickly after that and of course the people back home really had no idea what was going going on Because the the broadcast which was just starting was the pre-game show It got cut off and you al.. Michaels was one of the He was one of the announcers. He was the announcer was on the air. let's listen to our colleague John Shea here. At the chronicle he was working for the Gannett papers at the time including the Marin Independent Journal He talks about that briefly at the end of this short remembrance so at five Oh four. PM I was visiting my editor in the last row right behind the plate. I add a bird's eye view of the entire stadium so when the quake hit I saw sections the ballpark. Shift away from other sections of the ballpark. Like the thing was about to come down. There was silence from the crowded. I in then there was a sense so hey that was an earthquake. And we're GONNA be okay and then loud applause like let's play ball. Well no I grew up here so I've been through few of these and none like this. I mean I was not applauding arrest down the steps to the press box behind the plate and tried to check in with the office US then I went down to the field. All the news was happening down. There players rushed out of the dugouts and club houses because they felt safer on the grass and their families families.

"So We would have to get their approval to be able to do that. But then also you know. I think it'd just be important that You know that they finish up and double A.. And then we can You know plan their next steps. Okay actually it usually goes the other way usually move guys up for a playoff situation. I think you've done that in the past. They probably don't have any rules against that. You know they're not on upward movement. No down where move who've some teams push those limits before so so you have to get exceptions to to move people. Okay and I think I and I talked to Far Han about this earlier You know when he got hired and he he's not necessarily a huge fan about keeping really good hitting prospects in Pitcher's leagues for Very Long and You know I mean obviously. The Eastern League is a pitchers league. I've definitely benefit Sean Jelly to to pitch in that league So I guess this is kind of a look ahead question. You may not have the answer to it But in some of your informal discussions given that these Rama Sandbar are playing playing or will play about three or four weeks in the eastern league. You think that there's a chance that that that they could start the season based on what happens during the winter and during the During Spring Training that they could actually start in Tripoli next year. Yeah I wouldn't rule that out but I think right now probably the the mindset would be that. They opened the Richmond next year with a with an outside chance of Sacramento. That odds would probably point towards Richmond for opening opening day twenty Like I said I think You know the the Arizona Fall League will announce the rosters on on August eighteenth. Actually so you can mark that on your calendar the look online for that. But we're working through those rosters right now and in Barton Ramos or strong possibilities for for maybe even that assignment. In between San Jose this AA sample size Arizona Fall League and Spring training next year. We will give us a really good Sample sized evaluate based based on on those things and we'll take the full body work in pre-game during the Games everything and then and then Determine their assignment for for twenty twenty but I would. I would lean Richmond Without eliminating the possibility of Sacramento. Okay and let's see we make more news here. You'RE GONNA have to replace those guys. Are we gonNA see. Maybe the Seth Corey or Jacob Hayward or Nolan our Knowing Aaron Auto Exceeding Joan Erin auto any one of those guys maybe coming up to SAN JOSE and the next couple of weeks Right now we the upward movement from Augusta San. Jose's probably not not as much as what what we're doing with Barton Ramos and Jelly the right now. Seth is doing everything he can to try to force us to San Jose. But he's doing so good at his development and Augusta Esta and realistically you got the Minor Leagues. You got the major leagues if you're in the minor leagues you're trying to develop and If we feel like throwing seth to San Jose is best for his development will do that but right now everything's just. His growth in Augusta has been so strong this year. That Right now we're just focusing on whereas going to grow the most and He's definitely doing everything he can last month in Augusta to To clean up the last few things that he needs to clean up and right now that teams in in a playoff on as well and he's done a fantastic job of now repeating some really good outings improving command and and we don't want to derail all that by just throwing them to a level where You know now. He might have to feel like he needs to do more. So is changeups moping a lot so sean jelly was a big proponent that he thought of going to Augusta was huge for his development of his changeup. I talked to him about it and he talked about. He said that if he went to San Jose probably wouldn't have been able to develop it as well well because he would have just try to rely on the fastball incur ball against the better hitters but his ability to stay in Augusta and work on the change up kind of aided his success in San Jose. So Oh you know with seth in his command and his changeup. They're coming along so well that you know. Sometimes it might be better just to leave him in Augusta let that develop but also I. I don't WanNA close the door on San Jose at the end either but but sesa guy that we want air on keeping him in Augusta Right. He's only twenty years old or something bad right. He's twenty years old and he's coming on real well well Maybe maybe if you could just for those who don't know very much about him what what is repertoire is aside from the change up How hard he throws what his strengths are? Yeah anywhere from about ninety to ninety five left-handed a pulse athlete recruited to be a member of Division One football team. Byu I think recruited Liam is a safety. So that tells you. His athletic ability is left handed. Like I said but Ninety Ninety five with just an explosive fastball. And A it just plus plus plus curveball so it's It's it's it's reminiscent of kind of if you were to draw a left handed pitcher. I think this is one of the guys you draw up a good size. Good athlete with with to well above average pitches for lefty like up to ninety four ninety. Five Out of a plus athletic body the breaking balls fantastic and then change. Update is coming along very nicely if he can vote at third weapon. Yeah I mean he might fly through the upper level so he's walked a lot of guys but he's tough to hit so That's what's helping this year Kinda produced the lower era. Even though he walks guys Isan as he moves up the walk. Those tend to turn in earned. Run so You know right now. You don't see the runs going on the board from the walks but right now he's the last month you too. He's he's turned into a command artist all of a sudden so it's been a good that's I want to ask about a another pitcher and Logan Web and I mean I understand that During a time you're in suspension. You can You know you can still work out. You can still I presume you can still throw a hitter is in If simulated game situations and I'm just wondering he's he was a guy. We thought we might be able to see at the end of this year before he was hit for an eighty game suspension How far we're back? Do you think that has set is development Not a lot He he's such a hard worker Plus competitor on the mound on. And he he really. He took this news. I mean just really hard confused You Know He. He said all the right things season. And it's it's it's came as a shock to US everything that happened there but you know he basically said this is going to be a challenge in and I'm Gonna I'm GonNa show everyone everyone how great I am. And he went down Arizona through live batting practices to To rookie ball level hitters and he would pitch two or three innings and he just basically took that as his game of of the week and He used as an opportunity to also develop his change up. More in in some of the secondary stuff and You know now. He's went back to Richmond. He's doing fantastic ASPIC We're excited to see him The Sky's the limit. I know a lot of people talk about Dustin May with the dodgers and I really. I've always made the argument that that Logan website very similar more pitcher. Just maybe not quite as tall but You know definitely. I feel like Logan's very underrated okay. And let's the swing by two couple of hitters. Here's Markle Luciano what he's doing in the folly. I'm sorry the folly a Summer League in Arizona at the age of Seventeen Is kind of remarkable. Will I imagine That a lot of people are watching him not just within the organization but outside the organization In as I mean what what can you tell me about what. You've seen a firsthand with Marco in that shortstop by the way international sign last year was the number two prospect. I believe number number three based on various rankings or. What have you seen firsthand with him? Down there yeah just you just don't see kids with this type of Bat. Speed beat and power at seventeen years old. He's very a lean athletic build he. He's his improvement. shortstop stop has been what stands out to me Because you know you come in. And he's a little rough around the edges but he's played a fantastic shortstop and That's our biggest probably area development As far as the offensive game goes We just wanted to get him out there and let him play He hadn't played much Sometimes it's easy to forget. The international kids don't play the High School Baseball or college baseball of any types. You know we're throwing him into the Arizona League and you know he's standing next one hundred bishop and guys like that where they've played. They played in the PAC twelve. And you know this poor kid didn't even get a play for high school team and He's just I mean it's it's been it's been good. We expect it to be good. I don't think any of US expected to. Let's see what he's been doing but now offensively just been a flower beast. He's walking he's driving the ball. You know something that people just don't do ten homers is is really hi for the League and and he's doing the youngest guy in the whole league and it's just it's been it's been really exciting to see development. Is it one of those things where he might have been the promoted to Salem Kaiser if you were older I yeah I think I think it's. That's very fair to say if he was twenty years old or nineteen. Then yeah yeah I think he would have been but he never played in the DSL too so if you play in the DSL all last year then played the this year then. I think maybe that jumped to Salem. Is is a little easier to to justify I still think that at some point this year. We might see him in Salem. Kaiser I don't know we'll send them through the AZN season Just because he's he's forced our hand I I don't think we really wanted to jump up and challenge him that much. But you know some point players force us to and he's doing everything in Canada forces and you do have outfielder. Who is nineteen years old Alexander Canario who you did promote to Salem Kaiser and I'm looking Canada's stats right here? He's actually doing okay. I mean to ninety-one average nine thirteen P. S. He's got good power our He's a little more of a free swinger than Luciano is. So you might see a little more swing and miss but Just just a dynamic athlete with plus Bass speed and you know what he's doing is just it's it's it's pretty special and you know not not all of it's going to translate to doubly triply or the big leagues but when you get a bunch of these these guys in the you kind of.

I know you need to go and get ready for the game. <hes> the the one thing you told me and you told some other writers when we were in arizona and you were you were very successful is that you may be feel like you want to set an example now. You have young children <hes> and <hes> that you feel that you want to set an example for them. Partly you by just doing whatever you need to do in whatever role they give you. Could you explain that a little bit. When you have kids especially boy you you wanna make it a sample linda. Nothing can stop it will kick keep believing yourself killing all the rooms you have and i i wanna be a role model for my kids won't be the that simply he he feel proud his dad that are they. They always believe in him and never give up for things. I'm the guy ago segment dooney in my life that be part of servings of this again then. I enjoy some so many moments many gray days that i'll be having in this second chance so many opportunities that are being taken care of. I think it's true in every line of work that you you when you have something taken away away from you and you get that second chance. <hes> you really really appreciate it. I think it happened to me as a writer. I think it's happened to other players. <hes> is is that really the point here. I mean you get a second chance. You have to appreciate it more. When you get a second chance you out toward more and everything and i prove that the youth still got it and <hes> you know wasn't easy wasn't is in those moments audible when you got the right person next to you got that right person to tell you that when you're doing good when you're doing doing run is not yet bowes. I'm sorry but you need to have balls to do. Take the punch in to get up and keep walking. I keep doing the things you love because the person next year tell you and i give you that bush for your kids for you. Finally for everything that people around was my family. Tell me through that. One that <hes> you know i think some of the fans have asked me about is i mean you think when you're playing career is over. You would like to coach and maybe managed someday. I don't know i don't know i use spent time with my family. I would love to coach my kid. You know if you'd like to play baseball. <hes> we love to be his goal jbeil one one day one sunday one day. I want to think about it. He goes down to do baseball so i would love to do. I got gray. Mentors bought or jeez meal. As a person i saw fire. I saw family player. You know we learn that in this eleven years. We bought you be part of his career here. In san francisco for nine years miss a lot for me some great mentor now one day. I woke taylor him. Well on one of the things he's done is. He's trusted you to pitch now. You've had a lot of games this season unfortunately a lot of games that have gotten out of hand with the score art when the game starts going to be seven to one eight to one or whatever you actually put it in your mind that hey maybe this is the day i'm going to have to go on the mound this now now yeah because he asked me if you wanna do fund luna though they will we lost eighteen something against he told me don't do it because i even start me and as you know what i want to do is to how wrong he pullman third base every time the our our our stole the khloe about boy oy bring this. Is you know that right starting pitcher pablo sandoval you only have to pitch one game and then you'll be eligible to be taken as a starter in fantasy baseball <hes> <hes> listen. This is <hes> just been wonderful talk and i. I really appreciate it. I know people are gonna love listening to this. Thank.
