He's somebody I will see we need to be at the Forefront of walk-ins if I could stretch that further sir. When you speak loud, we also have an Explorer the part of having locally hosted server so that we can have our data locally roasted is that part of what you would like to change if you have the capacity to? Yes, we are working on that with some local providers already off of these you get the house. That's all right. So how would you describe Africa currently in terms of the potentials of the continent? Of course, the current challenges are crossed different country song. A continent and the possibilities, you know that the continent as we have a group event or private investment and exports wage by the progress because this is several Strokes Rod to use and challenges has to transform its economic factor that needs population can benefit from a more mature group back in my opinion that we open speak about the potentials of Africa. When are we going to stop speaking about just potentials and just talking about the strength of the continent going away concentrate? I think that's a political issue as you can because we be able to better handle this situation that this battle has created of conflicts and I think that's true that we have to be moving potential to actually provide leadership now talking about the current landscape the covid-19 off. And then make what lessons have you personally as a business leader of Ulan from this Thursday? We're almost I feel that our people around the world as this but any religious or who that person about $50 pieces of in Nigeria, I can't even begin to understand that life is pretty cool. Could be shots. The list of me was that whatever impact I plan to begin the world now is turning there's no waiting for tomorrow. Secondly as long as need to be continuously as you find yourself in a position where your business is doing on that really bad just because you don't you didn't move with the times. All right. Let's get a bit more personal now who are your role models, you know see those are the most kind of mask. What about musk? Well, I will see that you have a Google home has formed is Alysha. So we were only the company value for shareholders. I think this applies to both of them is a customer and he's also employs is impressive how long you have to stand up for his negotiating control? The Genius Of IKEA - Same Product, Different Markets #908

"I think I've identified part of the genius of same product multiple markets over the past few weeks. My wife has been on a bit of an Kia tear. She's decided that we needed to sort out the storeroom. We need hanging space more shelving space more storage space in general and so where do we go? We're off to I care and what I've seen during this last couple of weeks has been what I think is the real genius of I. They've got this product which is super appealing to the People. Like my wife who loved the idea of toiling away hours building something and then the satisfaction of having built it at the end at the same time. You've got the people like me who look at the amount of work involved in that and say and not for me. Thank you any great satisfaction out of knowing. I built it myself so buggered. I'll pay someone else to do it for me. And it's exactly the same product. They've just built another add on product or service which is the build at for you model which they also make another revenue ad of. So they're in. I think part of the genius and I swear to God when I look at the way some of these these products are put together or the packaging. It's put together. I recognized made it just that little bit more complicated than it has to be again to appeal to those two dynamics. The people like my wife. Look at that and say oh. There's another little bit that I'll have to find the how to put it in the people like me say Shit. There's another little bit that I really don't want to deal with. That's another reason to get someone else to do it for me. And they've also done exactly the same thing I think in the stores where for those that want to create you can mix and match bits and pieces for those. That don't they. P- redesigned the spices for you entire kitchens and living rooms and bedrooms and dining rooms and office spices. So you can just go in. Imagine how you don't feel imagine it's already built they for you. Just copy it copy and paste so again. It appeals to the creative and the not so creative. Those accounting ball did just one at old down for them. Once again you both cases executive assigned product different customs different markets. So I think for a lot of people now is that trying to maybe reimagined redefine reinvent. The business have a good look at the way I does what they do. Because I reckon there's a lot more likely than meets the eye on. I think it's I mean it's obviously a pretty smart company because I've made a hell of a lot of money but I think there's a bit more to it than what you see on the surface. I honestly think they've captured this balance between one product that can apply to multiple use cases multiple customer cases and ultimately multiple market already. That is for today. I do thank you for your time and we'll be back again tomorrow so yeah key furniture for college kids.

Episode 3_Priya Marwah_Founder and MD_TycheJobs

"<music> hub hopper originals today on <unk> mom stories that was a tough night but when i was setting up my own company is twelve and he was struggling to rankle will and an between you know while stanchion it was all this was happening. I discovered that my innocent blood pressure. Hello friends welcome to the podcast executive mom stories. This is not an ordinary spot but this show is very people for juggling chuck to balance it. Primavera is the founder and managing director of jobs and exit of sociable. She has been voted as the twenty five most influential woman in india by c. You maxine twenty seventeen and has been featured by business worn on for a strong focus on diversity hiring on inclusion. She's having two sons aged thirteen and nineteen years brea is a season nc level executive search consultant her career spans or two decades machine has school on complex assignments across to mean and geographies roughness or the years. She has accomplished in excess of hundreds of leadership hirings before starting on her own. She was a partner with stanton hampton. Cheese international hitting the consumer product and services were to linenger and an epoch lead foam. She has been instrumental mental in bullying their from c._g. Practice a._b._c. consultants private limited. She spent twelve years of a career as an executive director and one mini awards for exemplary contribution to the company's. Let's listen to clear a hyper. <hes> how are you you've done doing well okay so can you tell us about your joanie and political elite the transition from employee to entrepreneur that to being a mother of two kids. It's okay talking about technically speaking almost thirty years of my life lettuce so i come from about grown which is so been in business and my immediate family's never actually been employees as such also always had mindset of an entrepreneur always wanted to do my own take but what did you learn the ropes before jumping so hold it the journey start but i wasn't expecting to jump into it kind of a thing i thought <unk> planet out but was diode after working for almost twenty the three really four years you know the same old routine of getting up six o'clock in the morning rushing at least thirty kilometers away to an office for the last thirty and forty nine ers and coming back and still not feeling satisfied that you've done it. All you know and i think somewhere down the line. I always what do you say in the u. Kiddo activism. I always wanted to do something more than what. I'm i wanted the independence of doing what i wanted to and took the plunge ready for fifteen and then since then there's been no looking back so can can you talk about <hes>. The form that you have started on one wanted isn't the one what is your role as founder. The name of the foam is daikin. Okay jobs now. The first question that i always get from my clients or anybody are meeting the versatile. I foil <hes> this start by calling tikey as state g._o._p. As lee gee if i still remember gold lychee let gang on <unk> can spoil the name then i told them what dyke's stems from nike is a greek goddess for luck and fortune. I've always been fascinated by greek mythology you know since that was way young and i think it the mid perfect sense for me to choose a greek word for my for the name of company. We're into executive search when an i._c._u. Executive software into a lot of leadership hiding across sectors across domains across industry redo in in minus one minus two roles so typically that means the function heads in one level below to function. It's what we are doing and it's been now for royalist tremendous learning and tremendous journey <hes> to be on those for love about it is that i'm doing what i really wanted to do. Both sin the stock of fail space. Did you find gender gap problems. And how do you encounter those differences. Whether a mini mill employs in who were actually induce face so how'd you tackle that kind of difference when you were that sick pitching in in in any of the company and then trying to get leads so most of the companies that we being typically working on have been multinational companies and in high on there was a d hiding so one of the examples that i will give you is legit escape consumer <unk> company glaxosmithkline <hes> the about to sign the contract of was a woman state. You know we signed the contract the same day and undisclosed mueller to their office. They give me a big gift and you know and is that we've got finally got even as partners you know we are encouraging women to come forward so there wasn't any kind of agenda of biases or anything like that. <hes> women clients will consume <hes> most of them. I had known while was <unk> employees. <hes> devil few new ones. I truly didn't face in fact faced leased a lot of encouragement. You know <hes> people saying that look while you've taken the step of moving finally doing what you want to do which most of fundraising to you know figure out <hes> so digitally face any biases a such okay so being domain of recruitment. Are you come across swedish employer seven. You mentioned g skills one of them. So how do you see the scenario unfolding for working moms workplace in dumps of hiding requirements okay so this is a tremendous jody journey from a company's of very large companies <hes> i'm undergo pickle at influential positions saying that though we don't want to hire women in certain roles because they're not committed all the only lee a common or do on the bi cosmetics from that kind of mentality people have actually moved on from there and have started welcoming of women you know in different functions and even manufacturing industry the shop floor and supply chain procurement. You can see women actually looking in different different kinds of devos functions within a company and the mindset of totally change because their allies that women bring a lot more. I'm not saying i'm not undermining the man's contribution he'll but saying of from a committee <unk> made <unk> angle of you know the the hard core responsibility accountability. I think think those are areas where <hes> women are releasing. The positivity and companies have been welcoming and <hes> people bill are now open to taking women who have children at home or planning family or getting back back to work after prob- probably sabbatical or something like that and the are there more understanding the fact that if a person is taking especially in the city they could be prior family. Commitments people have started accepting that okay so what does a nominee believe. That's happened all the of years or so that i you know <hes> somebody was working. One would say that local. She's working because she needs the money honey bucket. Now i think all of us need the money which is the respective turano romano <unk> orders but nowadays of working anymore because they want cardio's and of course the money they want the independence act. Ill clients have started. All the companies have started accepting that so as we see the flushing gig economy you know how the employee job who hoping you know by the female employees that centrally taken win a castle job employees for anybody irrespective visits of email or may <hes> it's not really taken will and i was leo komo for the view of the view that if somebody doesn't spend a considerable amount of time within the company you know the person has not cologne or contribute to the organization so if you're talking about a one zero two year stint i think even two years is not enough to contribute to the company beaten lung and it's your own personal growth that could sample severe switching over jobs too often that shows a lot of psychological effects also that the person is not. It's it's not really been steady as a personal. He's a he's. After everyone is changing jobs. You know what after every two years is looking for something new people looking for a people were loyal committed why loyalty can be defined into weighty dumb sooner for different people but when we are talking about loyalty to the work is loyalty to the project that you're doing even join dirty accompany and that is of <hes> you know certain important project. That's given would you walk in and you don't finish it off with a your stein that actually talks more about you as a person rather than commitment the work but as walking <hes> who may be you may also have certain commitment to her of family early life has been right so inside situations she has to do frequent job changes. Maybe no moving from point a to bangalore mangalore totally. So how do you think she should be handling. Such situations rent a the list of what you say the fourche or the request quest from spouse saying that i need to move now because you know i'm not happy with a gun in job saudi to think she should take it up and still make it eight. Okay <unk> probably a lot of the times of changing the new generation of that's come up order. Especially the twenty five thirty thirty five years spent at least eat daniels in a particular company odd of vide- deal that the wife's job is as important as the as own jumps <hes> again we come back to the question that people changing frequently quick that generally doesn't happen the buzzing changes in two years time one and a half years time or something like that in case it does happening. <hes> ninety nine percent of women staying back at home did not looking for jobs. They know that look my husband. Go change every two does does so they're not able to do our job right and they will couple side a other stuff to keep them occupied or a right which can actually be run from anyway. The second option i've seen women doing is doing consulting for small organization with doesn't become like a regular job. Aw you know and you can do it. You know we're from vegetable. Whichever bliss that you want the toward most important thing is suitable given are jumping because the husband's changing enjoys ended. That's happening quite frequently. If it's large organization they had lots of branches. Everyone got me support so either the digital transfer or something like that that's over talking about. You know stay. Stay at home moms or guesses. Vera female. Meal has to date the break so so. How do you think you know such female employees should work on this case when when they are thinking of reentering the corporate world what kind of skills they should be working there kicking the cardio break. It's important for people to prioritize advertise their lives. <hes> if obviously of female is taking a break because there's a priority to the family and <hes> eventually they're going to come back or maybe they decide that they're gonna come back after two three years <hes> because the kids are small or there's somebody in the home which requires a special attention within my headways the shook i david the priority i okay okay. What's not anonymous going up. This could be a time when you want to be bothered about them or less worried about them so when asu accept the fact that young that's the danville. They're actually released a quiet. You most of us get confused between the fact including me you know of the children are very young. <hes> they need their mothers and fathers close to them which is actually onto renault that i have grown up children. <hes> what are the basically. It's the most of the needs of biological endless <hes> you know emotional needs dates and children of <unk> adapt if so if they have parents working the adapted the debate get in some walking and it is the way of life okay right. They don't know if the mothers went to sit at home what's going to be you know my answer me. Show making storm you want me to send that don't because then the whole <unk> everybody in the house go in cleaning you know so the most important part part of his life probably come when they're doing their wealth board exams. That's when they have won the parents of the model you know around food and it's comforting for them because those critical years for them so i think if somebody is taking a break when the child is very young to three years old and you'd hold of support at home or you don't have something you know supportive. Do take care of your child when you're not around then one is a eglise <unk> run y'all or one and a half year with a child a small. I think the budget should devote complete attention to the chain a slowly by slowly then you can start looking forward to moving back into woking and that has to be a give league land transition addition by carefully planned transition means that you should be up to marketing oh on what's happening onto slowed of reading would help you the industry that you're working beyond top by reading. You know what's happening around in your industry for example you know somebody's walking looking in drills state house ruled state doing what are the kind of be foams investing in real estate but as the money coming in what are the government rules regulations relations and things like that no one should be aware of what's happening around the world so a lot of reading is a must keep yourself updated. The the second thing is that the most importantly is to get your issue me up perty will carry a lot of people believe are still. I still believe in that ordeal. Writing the resume is doesn't really bring out the best and then and it's not really professionally done so it's like go <unk> geek in the present <hes> and they're okay with you know buying new clothes and going for an interview but but they want to redo their resume so i think the most important part is to build any resume. Bring out your key. Strengths your achievements the projects that you've done which will help you to print closer to the employment because once you are in subarctic what happens is of that. You're totally disconnected outside video cardio what's happening so few raid what's happening and then secondly if if you have sort of <hes> brushed off your skills in domes of yours you make sexual. You know it'll be easy when you walk in for an interview to show that why are you even if you've been august connected and you can highlight do different projects that you've done that. This is the kind of hands on work that you have done. Okay that hinson lord <hes> and people take that very positively guides to convey positively that looks she's taken through your break but she's just on top of tanks that actually shows only from the fact that you're let's say the whole belgrade informed your about your industry. What are the latest trends that are happening in new industry so all that is related to what you're doing in terms of reading execture and i'm sure there must be many demanding time but what has really most demanding time yellow while being walking mom and how did you handle that <unk> diamonds wien ven. My son was giving his trip and flooding different universities. He's and i give my job the same okay so one after walking twenty three years regularly i give up my job. It was not vague. Applied innovate planned way but i think on the height said that's the only way it would have happened but with would have kept on walking had forced was to force myself to take that decision so <hes> the time. I should have probably given him. You know from a support perspective. <hes> the transition that was happening <hes> from being an employee do an employer of was the difficulties and the dying at the same time over the friends that today actually said said that they will stand up health plans have been working for fifteen radio. After i dropped on the chiefs they might go. They were working with us specific than thursday. Not not was to any beetroot buzzy not really <hes>. I'm front of the store in my area and <hes> especially in the affinity consume award. I don't think there's anybody not as strong as probably the infancy to secto was survived for such a long done hundred plus soldiers in the last few years us. I would say a the transition from being an employee when employer was very dow because a lot of people will you defend on are no longer there in the same is true in the going is good. Everybody's arguing the going good spider. Nobody's view. I actually lived in those moments moments but on the hindsight they'll always these angels coop <unk> and sort of hit butte take aka so some of the good friends at will use before and then he different sectoral now each other. It's all legitimate of different <hes> sectors completely which had nothing to do with consumer sector years and they never gave me work you know when i was actually hitting consumers with force wants to give me that opri yoyo on right right into work for us so i think those are the friends that i our lifetime fans allow if clients whatever you call them are people who oh sort of supported the back so that that was a tough time when i was setting up my own company and my son was doing is twelve and he was struggling to rank a will and his in between you know via the station goes. All of this was happening. I discovered that many episode blood pressure. Russia was just seventeen ninety to be broken so his b._p. Actually went skyrocketed because of his anxiety eighty a._d. Problem and he developed an anxiety only in the north one zero so i've even not fair and uh it was it was stuff so you dealing a lot of a emotional stuff and you're dealing with a lot of professional stuff at the same time fine so i would say a that was of pita <unk> tortoise larger take us to cowpoke but <hes> a lot of things that we were not aware it made us more a stronger as people being your own boss bring salvation accountability and to be successful. You need to be on your toes. So can you talk about how you manage. It's now a transition from employee and employer and so as as an employee i would see a an employer joyce voices working or not working right so if you're working for somebody if you know week starting to debate that i wanna work for three days didn't want to go for duties. You have the choice not the employer's is something to you own conscious of your own accountability that exist over forward. I think i've been accountable. I've always gotten my family <hes> so the responsibility has come with your family family and the accountability solo lippi put it like that. There's never been peace. I think i'm abyss survival for stress. I actually actually of <hes> do the best straight stalker that's the way it is but it's how you're complainers. Nobody has to tell you anything to do. It's your responsibility. And how serious are you about faith. So how'd you take care of yourself. Breath b- died plan exercise being so that you can handle wide out your question offered any boy of my life safe so now do i have t yes i haven't been it starts at six o'clock in the morning and said eleven o'clock doc in the night so no okay. That's got me by you. Know husband is movie but this will be fun but but i can't wait for me by guns every quarterly or six months miami miami book is the mentioned. I just enjoy my dad with him and i wo- <unk> son of study. I wonder relig- a take time that i have with them every day that they can be good so maybe that meeting gum select travelling. I travel quite a bit. <hes> i want to see different places in the wood kind of die for me but on a daily basis <unk> to at and how to take it off your since then he specific <hes> <hes> any exercise that drew you're trying out or any you'll go and do of diamond time again. You know maybe i don't yoga toned owned of time. They need to start walking did a date so it's been a long island in the you have the diamond <unk>. You haven't inclination nation but this is something that i need to work on now. I know a so what does it do list on which don't mess to my to do list. Is that <hes> one is. I don't wanna miss out on the commitment mccormick lions okay. It's like a personal thing with me. If i miss out on my government's it means the loss of face after working ardent for so long. I'm not ready to do that. The second most important thing is oh the dos grid. Oh if i have something to do and finish it and will approach to move on to my second task is that are being vague goal oriented with its related to traveling or whether it's religion to my own one company profitability or the gop lie awesome numbers that <hes> i'm very goal oriented lose thing so any specific advice who liked to give to working moms but can i i of human life okay. I had one thing we hill. I think the mindset's need to be changed from vulcan. Mom's not saying working. That's the moment just a working mom. My child will do that. Mom you're discriminate. Mhm be have this outside and working becomes a way of life. Nothing is really going to change the momentum. You start seeing <unk> booking bob also looking book you you. His contribution is as much it was just because we have good yokel king and he's not doesn't mean that you know show would have a forecast walking back. The episode that you could take off on sunday or what are you doing and it's a pleasure to be a part of something which is such a great initiative peter thank you vote to a broker and as a mother has started simultaneously incident forty yeah it is it has been a very very beautiful journey for me old so you know how <hes> a woman has to juggle chugging since strengthening date. My life is being lick. That was when i couldn't see it was the euro three codeine eighteen. I was pretty much shored. That knife is going to change in ways beyond comprehension but not pregnancy. He was extremely got so i could not get on and that was when off you know oh came in my life and <hes> tom. I was expecting a north pins on nine. Hundred hundred good that dogging is a great way to excessive points <hes> as a model as a new mom. I was overstated kind of extremely confused about teams that among a new mom should do not do you have your mom the mom and low around but you still to want to not fall but it this new wave of upbringing ninety so i used to walk on nine. You don't do that is is that a lot of questions that are new more expedience mom for that matter. Has you know they are constantly looking for something which violates their own beliefs <unk> and systems so that's when this idea of logging came into existence and the jump marine her sooner bugsy each tabooed five years of age and i'm not putting them booth with an investor who would would would you believe what you wanted to explore. It's very simple things like for example. Whether you should massage your china your self or should you hire managed by so north. People used to tell me my mother-in-law said modest good. You get a good modestly massage but somewhere in my head i felt at monash what he believes the exact pressure points the she would know what is legit for child ready food giant giant. How would she know what off of the body needs to best. That's what's that team which kind of these kind of practices which offense to be questioned and why to blindly follow what other people are doing. I i didn't know what have i never heard him. Honestly i did it all by myself so think these you know they want. Someone told me that oh you know what you should not win. The child is napping and offended tended. It's difficult big if he's sleeping and i won't manage things are managed those other things while he was asleep because i can't speak when he sleeping spur producers or you don't you would be able to feel fresh because if you sleep with the baby the new low viscosity aspects abebe it never happens like that but you know and people should not force themselves sounds to do things like this because it's not possible itself so these things these were the beef the <unk> egypt traditional practices which effort that off aw adding too much seth and finish knife of new mother whose anyways very stressed about an order for the things and then suddenly beeper telling her this. This is right it not that you should do it this way not that we you know these were the belief that have wanted to your midst. I wanted to bust and <hes> <hes>. If you go to my blog you will see that i lead one thing to each and every read out there that do what instincts the going to go straight like. I said topics like these the ones which i feel that mum's googling the most for example. I wanted the two new at what age should i discontinue breastfeeding and i knew that this was one question. The north men's would have in mind so usually i kind often from all a sectoral model of what is it that she's looking for. What kind of questions baby food jars height and weight is my baby green at the right base than when the child is a talk no certain other things that are so meeting more and more people like minded nine to keep and also when you of you get a lot of you know understanding what kind of topics that people are searching for so it is a mix of experience and a lot to speak demands like me. I'll be ready to go. Findings from the google did go big defunding. You'd go to do snack. I said you know you speak to fifty people and alice fifty people for the telugu lose something something which is in sync with good philosophy for example you know you can win your child after eight months and you know that that's necessarily ankle that's looking for me and that's probably my baby actress and telling me the same thing and a lot of other monson who thinking i follow that but i'm not a firm believer in often people to do what i'm doing at least lieber disclaimer in the end saying that but at the end of the unique or personal instinctive tired wants to get you on feeding new oh you're the one wanting to have milton go with the flow but after eight months it's okay to you know even the switch over to autumn mother. What worried you the most and how many more do that you know. I don't worry too much about auguste pigs because those things to me earlier but i move forward in this journey of muddled i these things which every mom is wetted about should not rinus that she needs to learn to let go and reduced. This mom geared these students over hype when i was a new mom abusive enemy all you don't know you must squid john and work from home or just don't work because you have a time in your life. I i feel that. Why is this unknown in a society. Why is it a woman is not allowed to do what she wants to do. Being a mother is not a liebler <unk> woman look after your family and renting if the mother wants to step out and walk or starting join again that would mom that she's you know more than herself. She's made to feel like that reggie working in the office. She's made to feel that all why she's doing this. You should be with the child because the child is probably not eating drinking when hooping well. I feel that these things which every mom experiences at some point you should let go of these things. Let go of habits nick of of your child. It's okay coach. Ivan knock drank too much because he can't see you around or they're tightening not not fall ill because he's crying because you something is not happened the where the china wants. Let and let go of this woman rich draft. Do what you feed cd is right. Sometimes it is easier said than to do you do and still doing you know flake blake every day. Something goes right and then some things are legal and that's when you question us other hearing our philosophy of wanting to let go. Was it right thing to do but you just have to believe in yourself and just being stubborn and it's okay we deal with this mums <unk> one two situations they wanna make sure that you know the house clean and the baby's the china's welfare they didn't do everything was under. Sometimes it's not possible. I know that even at times when i feel that letting has happened for me and suddenly when i know ooh i come back from that and you think that he you know i can't let let gu. I think the thing thing is that you sit back and think of beep briefly five minutes and ask you says gideon mcgee wa is this is not happened. Will it really seems life if if the china's not haggas milk in the evening today literally changed his life. It's okay he can have it at night. He can have it tomorrow. We can compensated the giving him yogurt cheese. Whatever define new peace and act will blinking who like to do so yes our deck with it and <hes> did obvious as to deal with it but i think it's important to <hes> the good that there are symptoms. Dan defied the symptoms and what are you doing being sued. If things the meaning they were if he does the public. You know that have been times this than i have written. Something and i've got feedback with north people have come back to me and said that who will but you know this is not right because you that was my initial yours because at that point in time i was kind of still big rig of myself but after a while i realized is that it's ready to be very mindful of all sorts of experiences that it logging to <hes> sometimes what you see see. You may not mean it in a particular way but people take it doesn't offense so i've started putting disclaimers towards the end. I've stopped talking to more and more like i said my sample size was expanded. Those <unk> red eye released then people and figured out on certain. I would just go. Nothing's changed any talk booted movie to get ninety decent awesome get credibility. It's very important to be very very careful of the language. You should not be authoritative in what you you should want these leave it to the reader to the site at the you are absolutely you're just giving them a framework. It's not an authority say. This is what you must do. While i was miss. Leave it to them. I always tell them that. This could be one of the ways of something but if you have your own instinct to former which you must them do that and eh <unk> instead of the inaugural wood heating matlock who did a few you must be injecting as you said we know so people food particularly in what are the cdc was struggling to find. I do think the silly actually because i feel it even a simple question. Elect baby's poop color steen suddenly found still people out there who don't know anything about you know in the initial stages of <unk> giants poop but some of those silly questions and like. I said they're not silly but i feel that they're very valid for example couches. Can we put agile which is an ice because revealed the decisive grew on you know bathing <unk> milk will electing complex the next <unk> those age org traditional baptises rich <laughter>. I think existed for some other reasons but have been this indicated offered sample it. Is it okay to of you know <hes> questions which i feel maybe both know but they are important become lupin sipping credit bringing mix of traditional and modern but you know what is right and what is not yourself by experiencing it and that goes out hobie income food in controls being dame's in the league and this is also a very very important question that a lot of readers actually most of the time ninety percent of the time the question to these only ridden or ask. Nobody different screen time me limited. I feel like today with dad's and the ourselves are so gadget inclined that <unk> is just doing what we are doing the right i have you know there was a time when he was all zuhdi addicted to it by extending to other day and i realized i said this was not picking this anywhere so now i as soon as cocoon with a take him out for his biking cycling sports foods in the night <unk> books <hes>. I'm only giving him half an hour of t._v. Exposure which is in the form of nat g._o. Or something just more informative discovery channel that he can learn a lot about what's happening around so his screen name has been taken gill if it never happened overnight and and i knew every person is dealing with every parent has this question everyone receives that you can be what you can but don't only you think this don't give up like today. If you try to watch him five us next week. Bring it out to food then three then do it can never be like yes. It can never be so this patient likewise with food. Eating habits do not ever ever exposed to be jealous. Eating i went to difficulty. We have the dundas but these fixer as-as again and it's never believed if you had five of each child has been used used to eating certain foods that's actual their tastebuds evolving even today to introduce something nuclear child and your child died nip assistant then times he's he will say no no eleven time he'll automatically yoshi will have i was explodes and then you'll see that one may he'll she's exactly an cocoon hobie keeping millions among radius bonding nodes mother blogger equalize hollywood. It's hard but but i think it just keeps me sane. You know i feel like this very little time. You know in the sense. Even twenty four hours. I due compromise on my sleep was so which is not a good thing but ethnic this is mccain and i want to give a lot the people around them my family or their people like me in his on his own but it's moms or dads you you don't feel that we should be able to explore avenues displays and you never know i mean in that goes of these stressing. Something beautiful might happen to you. Would you feel was at your blessing in this. We know that may not have taught all and in those three years when keun mitch i i was able to be more creative expressive and i was also making money so you these things don't one is never evolve while you're hot action. If you are aiming at money feeble fascinated and everything else was do pace. Thank you sleep. Go way entry someday. We won't be arsenal's. Thank you hannah working. A Chartered Accountant Turned Leading IT Executive - Bimbo Abioye

"Welcome to Executive matters. I guess today is a hard-working risk and project manager who relax by taking a nap when he manages to find time to sleep in a day being barbounia is an experienced chief executive officer with a demonstrated history of working in information technology and services industry. He is the CEO of fintrac software a company engaged in developing the most complete banking system for commercial mortgage and developmental financial institutions. Mr. Is a chartered accountant with an MBA in information technology and a certification from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. So thanks once again for being with us this afternoon. Thank you. So first off let's start with how do you relax? Wow, I I I prefer to sleep because I'm really sleep time is not very it's not so much. So I mean 10:30 lacks. I want to sleep if I have plenty of time like up to two hours. I could think of Glen Templeton Thursday if I have one around talking about a long time relaxation. Might be considering traveling on early days as I believe cuz so those are the ways I tried to access some brake. Okay, if you could change one or more things in your particular industry, what will it all those things be? Yeah. I'm in the information off of G industry. That's software development industry. One of the things that would love to change has to do with what has been home in the economy and the country we seems to have instituted boo propensity to import things and that we are thinking also include the software industry. So you discovered that private-sector organizations and even public sector players government wage. And everybody's posturing unimportant a 14 even those things that we have better versions of technically just enriching foreign Nationals and that gives me now and restaurant and polarized and argues unemployed. That is the biggest thing that is crying for Change and wage been advocates in for that change.you may take some time but changes coming also Liberation on the body language of the college administrators front of the the federal government's trying to reorient States towards local contacts. So that is a step in the right direction, which if they can really work to talk this nation would be better for it. There's always need for self encouragement self-motivation off. Your part how do you motivate yourself? Yeah, I try to motivate Myself by certain very high goals and then home stretch to accomplish them sort of throwing the ball and running fights. So accomplishment of these goals and our Pro 5 Samsung satisfaction and fulfillment good example of that on the area side. It was sometimes in two thousand and three. I looked at my credentials and apart from experience and with a few yes. I've been by that time had been chartered accountant for off some 30s or more. I looked at it. What have I had it? So now then add that pacified include Information Technology, right? And I looked at it's learning go for the top-rated credentials and information technology as I've been stood and three major certification. One of them was see is that since birth the second one was he is and has certified information security manager and invite one was cissp certified Information Systems security professional and was dancing gold and I gave myself a deadline of that 2003 to accomplish that page and by the end of the year if I accomplish them all okay, so and then in the corporate world, our mission is to be the word choice. One Enterprise solution providers sometimes when I share this position to potential clients in the demo slash. Sometimes they laugh sometimes the laugh access to come out of their eyes. Possibly. They couldn't imagine how an insurance company and dream to be the worst. Number one Enterprise solution providers parent multiple attached to accomplish and they would might think I work in my dream I woke that's been threats of yeah, we are going to accomplish that interesting in that same line of what you just discussing show with us, you know your journey to where you currently are. Now, how did it all begin? You know from what's the origin story that led to Thursday? Currently are right now as far as an accountant and nineteen eighty-nine as qualified as the and so nineteen ninety-eight and all right. I was working in Northeast fans and what have you so practically an account lights and turn off the noises fron the way I was working the senior partner decided to computerize and I was the manager of that month and the managing partner was not really compelling interest but decided that we should analyze our activities and you simply just traveled Off Road in Broad set of objects and looked at me and said used manager because our computers for you to computerize activities a khong You can crash cause a lot to 1 to 3:10 which some form of spreadsheets and so we were trained on it as well. I picked that too long and I decided to dig deeper and Japan to find to it as just internet was not very, you know, very readily available to take home or I try to get information through training books and home videos and I try to develop myself on that true and that was able to really use that to crude. I thought it was And all right some programs. I went into the programming aspect of it so much load that back in time. I use the tool shed some applications that was soft enough problems and the company even those people that trained us on. Seuss 123 that when they came they could not even recognized the truth. It was told I was running because I went into something that they didn't even but then to really dig deep into and used to write applications that are Nano driven and was able to admit quite a lot of things that were green and the other message from them. It was like magic to my colleagues, you know, they are and even personal partner who was at least now we could get this done rapidly and log Was really really a significant impact and that corporate operation State and so as I move forward slash my career in the artists and the accountants. I became very very much interested in technology. And the same time in point was just before you an 2010 the Israel Y2K came by then. I was working in a social services company and the company then the high was so much about Y2K and implicature. I'm putting the fire was so much all lines crash and crash and all sorts of things and off. Then with a little knowledge. I had I understood that they would complete that process. Did this guy? Was that by the time on thirty first December nineteen? Ninety eight nine now resets following the last January two thousand that that will be problems because of the change in the death sentence, but my understanding of the way the compressor stalls States information, it was invalid new format not home when you leave these maybe $15.99 and whatever so trying to go back. So I tried to convince my organization that this was I but not often these things to me because then I was not adopting professional and I was an auditor so it was difficult to rely on the internal Auditors judgmental. So I think this is as a management of the financial services organization. And so everybody got veggie on 24/7 bad the 1999 with him for things to happen overnight, but nothing happened. It was a high. Okay, and so much money was spent trying to change operating systems change this change dance. So this was something that really got me very angry and make sure made so epic a decision and then that I would plunge into Information Technology, right and then since then and took interest in it as I move in that Administration, that's not that point that we can be add of financial control that I used technology to automate quite a number of things and use that limited to write off. All of our programs that helped us as an organization to solve some of the challenges we were having even with the bank insisted that we're using them and the company gave me an award for Innovative contributions to upgrade that shipment of the organization. So all of this, you know was nights in my passion off as of my next job was to manage put Financial control and information technology and a bank and down quite a number of applications. We wrote then gave me insights to dig deeper to solve problems of the So eventually when I left banking system in 2005, the burning passion with them is was to start Bump me in the eye serum. And so outside consultancies Services were started as a consultancy Services providing financial and Technology consulting services, and I'll actually moved on you know, the company started in 2006. And as we progressed the technology package of the business was getting far more problems and because the passion was really very strong and is very very strong as we know time. We began to rise mission-critical applications supporting bands and other financial services that players as I took them in the back office activities, like financial reporting apartment management and budgeting and you know, such a application out. That helps them and the back office. So the application side of the business blue so much that it was necessary that wage we transformed into a limited liability company is supposed to be frank and then we wanted also to match the song brand new with the operator name and track software the ranks of three hours a brand. We have not played for our various products. Then also fact we incorporated different fax software to take over the software business from fansites consultancy Services sometimes in 2015. So today I will have done about the twelve thirteen years now as an organization and our dog Applications both in the back office and now also in the front of these that's in the business person Ram Nation could go after officials are banks to submit their activities first landing and the full-fledged banking system, but then we have all been canceled and Country and the globe background check software. Okay. So today we argue about pets in commercial Banks and about seven or eight Margaret pants and three insurance companies. So that is the story and then and there will also made inroads into adapter countries off with Out product residents in the cloud and will not return countries today and some of these uh product precise, you know home phone by very large Nigerian banks that have subsidiaries across Africa, but now it's also branched out and get some bands that outside of Nigeria. Yeah speaking of Africa, how would you describe Africa in terms of where the continent crowd is and it's what is potentials are and where it should be just like Nigeria is Africa one of the things off. I'd say when it'll draw in Africa is first to believe in ourselves. Women's of looking work and believe in ourselves. The problem of Nigeria is replicated across Africa. Everybody looking for flooring things and then we average foreign Nations despite the abundance of resources that we have both human and natural resources. We aren't able to put up these resources to really really up lived there, make life of the continent. So the we have great potentials. We are blessed with natural resources that blessed with human capital, you know, that will turn actually briefly fridge so position of power as one of the greatest continents in the world, If not, if not, the very briefest guys know continents. That is a stand-out a supplicant, but Lack of intellectual capability to think and come and transformed into a productive consonants oftentimes. We sell crude items even higher crude oil change. Rob and Crofts and adapter culture that produced and then import final finished products if wage I've had the funding and bridge the gap between raw materials and finished products that is going into production hadn't values. So here is Asus we have been endowed with that will position Africa as one of the greatest consonants in the world. Okay wage, so we are living in very unpopular times right now with the coronavirus. What would you say is the lesson you have taken away from you know, this long time that we are living in all a lesson that you think everyone should take away from this. Yeah already. Everybody has lumps lessons wage. Coverage. In fact I would say if not for the death and a lot of people that were sick and a lot of businesses that we're negatively impacted. I would say covid-19 is a copy of blessings and designs that it helps just to think outside the box. Today as we speak. I mean my house I have another I have a notice at home. We don't we work virtually home. I'll start working from the Acura services. Okay, very few people and in the in the office adapter out of it about a thousand times 25 1/4 adults. If you go to our office today Monday 31st, August guys, no way you could end up to 10 people okay in the office, so it is provided at a lot was possible even working remotely we discovered that we were even more mature enough to what can remotely and so what was the purpose of somebody living in Nashville are going to Victoria Island off? All the traffic and what have you by the time you get in there as lost two hours going back home, maybe another 2,000 hours did not sleep five hours spent on the road that going to be productively engaged on the job or even for him to relax and be better even though it's working. Okay. So these are things that we we have seen even going forward Beyond complete. We definitely will be doing things differently than we had been towed in the office at all. Maybe at maximum 25% capacity. Okay, so and the time it's okay so lightly will be working remotely. I'm not asking that quit as thought everyone was that during the I locked that a lot of businesses really went on that because the only ways and means that will transact was physically off and when everywhere was unlocked them, they could not run. So that is driving a lot of innovation which has hath does to see how we can did you find this support organizations to work remotely? So the Rival to some of them were able to liberate on that product and wage factors also driving our plans now to move all our platforms to the cloud by the end of the month of September that virtually all our products will be available to do your work van Cloud infrastructure. So business models also turn off. Thank you. Okay, so our and Industry today when that our financial challenges organizations times to log in the in the don't want to spend on medical expenditures. So one of the things we are doing to address that is by faith adapted my business model. So give them a subscription-based platforms that they will not be required to put every and months and months and I'm from dispatch so they could get online and get a job start and transform their businesses with that happened to be looking for noon to acquire the services and technologies that we provide so change your business model from home. Sales, so to subscription economy, and these are the things that really catching on in Europe to the home. So does have to be call I think away from coronavirus and so on Cena and no continuous innovation issue is the rule of the game luckily for us because when the information technology Ram the impacts if I didn't have those two thousand and two more that I've done at affected in terms of productivity, we were able to improve or not products during the lockdown. I love my son assist. Yes impact on sales, but as we offer a subscription, but it is already been introduced and off. So we're able to come out of the pandemic. Yeah, stronger better and final question. What's your word for the young aspiring? See you or business owner? Yeah from my own experience, but you can not give while you don't have a lot of young that people. They don't even want to cut that seat. Anyway, it has time to leave school and start a business. A lot of them who have challenges going that week off and it's important to acquire experience as kills, you know, In in the industry before you can really really liberated us killed some and exposures to be able to walk to bring about Creative Solutions and beautiful too prohibitively wrong. Another word for them is that they need to run a setlist lifestyle. Okay and have the capability to play classic rock. A lot of people in the technology business. They think that technology is an area you can make it began, you know. The flashing cars and you know, so Butte and then during organization. You've got to consider last. Okay, that is very very important. And the part one is about faith and it's very important that they are waves at their fans and their phones is very very key when people see that page where you promised that you with the fastest video to look at it and that's one of the things that that's really helped us in the industry. I left of, because they have finished off. Simply does this up yet? Because they aren't able to give what it takes to deliver on the Promises. Okay. So far us took promise you that we deliver if this simply for whatever but no, rain comes shine will deliver the city possibly have everything. Okay. So that is one thing that that's mainly has does great speed and another business and lastly, we encourage young and happiness. So get ready to die and Rise Again. OK the song about feature on whether Line Take You must be ready to so give it all it takes. And they'll be able to get all that that fit on things. And then we'll be able to assess it. All right. Thank you so very much. We have truly enjoyed our time with you. We really really appreciate the privilege of your time, sir. Thank you. Thank you very much ice have you? All right. We hope we can engage with you at a future time to have more discussions. So no problem at my pleasure. All right. Thank you. So. How long this has been another edition of executive matters until the next thank you for the pleasure of your time.

A Leader in the Newsroom and the Boardroom - Frank Aigbogun, Founder/Editor BusinessDay Nigeria

"This is executive matters and I am bimbola really this podcast executive conversation is with a journalist and publisher whose career dates back to the Guardian newspaper in nineteen eighty-two Frank. I bought welcome to the executive seat. Mister. I will go is a journalist off the publisher of business day newspaper, which he founded in two thousand and one for many years. He was the latest correspondence of the Associated Press the world's largest Independent News Agency. He was appointed by the den military government into the vision 2010 committee, which was tasked with drawing up a long-term economic vision for the country club. He served as Deputy leader and alternative reporter for the subcommittee on competition and deregulation while working on division 2010 project Mister ryberg. Was inspired to launch. What is today Nigeria's first and only daily financial and business newspaper the newspaper maintains content Partnerships with a financial times The Economist as well as the Harvard Business Review today. Mr. Abel serves as a director of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group also chairs the board of the constitutional rights project and leading human rights and advocacy group. As a business leader, there seems to be a lot of Demand on your time. So are you relaxed as you find time to relax relax home, but same giant time with the family. Okay. I I relaxed watching football on television or talking about football with friends or my son's okay, relax, a grabbing a book and reading so quite number of things just by the code that are still possible to do by way of relaxation in pristine. Most of the Business Leaders that we have spoken to they all say that they relax by grabbing a book and apart from all the things, you know that they used to relax. You know, why do you think that is a common Trend among Business Leaders? I guess it's the quest or the hunger for knowledge that on. Guys always there. So if you don't have such an important thing to do no meetings, then you have some time to spare. What are they need to do that? You grab a book and just enjoy it and sometimes you know because business people tend to read a lot and buy a lot of books quite often there is off on finished part of the book, you know, you grab and chew part of it. Now, you put it aside you take another one to come back to it next time. So there's a craving so when you have some time you grab a book and it's quite satisfied as well interesting apart from you know, being able to use book to relax. How do you motivate yourself does book has sucked into playing that as well I think so. I mean that books tend to inspire you a lot. If you are one reading either business books or reading biographies log. But Business Leaders that you you tend to be provoked as this packing you, you know, you read this was no question about it. But also the things that Inspire Presley's you have set goals yourself objectives that at every and you're taking on them and there's always a pile of them on done. So that's a sauce not as satisfying separation is the kind of goals of preoccupation that you have set for yourself. If you are dealing with Social Services here dealing with wage and courses that are close to you whether they'd be attacked later honey, or whether these are costs that cost you are committed to that is outside of the house. There is a girl so inspiration for you that at every point you have to remind yourself or you're reminded of you know goals on attended and then of course as you look at home, A business you think about it? And there's always something undone. So I don't think that we are dates that you are ever lacking inspiration. There is another command track and among Business Leaders personally that I have noticed, you know ability to be able to set new goals every now and then, you know appears to be another way of motivating themselves. You made a lot of point, but why is he Trend among Business Leaders, you know business itself and even the business environment are the economy at large is dynamic. So there's no wait time when you thought it was solid and so you've you've conquered never unless of course it did that. We retire Last Breath. There's always a new A New Hope for you. There is always a knock on your dog is always a call upon you to seven one capacity or another there is always a new way to do even the things you did yesterday. There is always something And that you have not achieved. So this is common with Business Leaders who are forward-looking fantastic. If you are to change one thing in your current job industry, what would that be? I think it would be precisely how we engaged with audits. We got into this business that's very presumptuous that we we built into the person is almost with the feeling that every day today given the digitalization. We are finding that way really to so among journalists the greatest number of people who believed everything but now we're finding we know nothing and for those who know that already that's I don't know what I can call it the convention or to call it a way of life for an approach wage. In a profession is maintenance on his head. So we are now humbled accepting that there is a lot more that will need to know if we must bow AR Channel. It takes a lot of strength to be able to add minutes. Especially at the time that journalism is a difficult road. If I may. And you know also the points that denomination is most needed, you know in the history of mankind looking at a couple of things are happening. Globally. Are you going about you know going in and out on a daily basis truth is you do this on an ongoing basis? There isn't anyone not even in any of the established media organizations where there has been a measure of success in digitalization where anyone would beat his chest and said, he knows everything you're discovering things as you go the people who have done great studies before they start off. If they are those who just say, well you take a dive and we'll get to see how well we can swim in the water. So and there's no one who's right. There's no one who's wrong because in the end as I say, they taste of the food in his office, so your success and your success alone is the only determinant not any book not any philosophy or Theory. It is your success or failure that determines whether you have succeeded of fastest available interesting. All right, let's go a bit bigger right now looking at the current Outlook of Africa in terms of the potential of the continent the opportunities and of course the difficulties across several Industries and Sarah, you know areas on the continent. What are your opinions? I'm hopeful about wage worker and you know, Africa is an interesting continent before the pandemic you saw a number of countries. That we're already beginning to push the right buttons there were beginning to move in the right trajectory. And even in the pandemic situation that we are in you are finding that some countries are more better than the others and it depends largely on how well they wear before the pandemic can you know where you are going and driving in a car 100 kilometers an hour and you are going when you get to the hill you tend to get a bit more as you age send a heel if you are driving a car that has virtually lost his engine or the engine is almost knocked and then you get to the office. lll it's even more difficult as you're as to try to ascend that him. So Africa can be seen from those different trims. There were countries that were in better shape before the pandemic came home and you'll find that those ones will go to this pandemic without being broken of buttered and emerge from it faster the ones that were very troubled or trying to pay for the Dominican would manifest signs effect of that pandemic over a longer period than the other tests, but in the end all the countries will a convert pandemic the ones who have started earlier. We'll of course moved. I was beginning to find some solace in Africa because of the journalists. It was either of those days when you talk about Different countries and all you need all you have to do was to showcase the examples from Europe increasingly. We're finding good examples in Africa, okay home but finding a good examples in terms of Conduct in terms of governance in terms of you know, social protection. We are finding a good examples in terms of Judiciary and and rule-of-law. We're finding good examples in terms of Institutions that have been finding good examples in collaborative work in Africa. So I think that gives me hope fantastic. I think we are open about Africa's we're not talking about the finding them lessons. Have you learned? Well, I mean especially is we now know that this is not the first pandemic Global one. So we have an hour of those before also had this and I imagine there would be another one for the coming generation. First lesson is we must always humble ourselves after they send accept that off. Well, we're not in good shape health facilities and health infrastructure. We're not in good shape and we must do the best that we can to bring them up to scratch so that when the next find any comes we are better able to announce joint. The other thing is the pandemic is a leveler. We're finding that even countries like America that bush said the best medical services we've seen what leadership can do in a very short wage. I just bring the ignition to his knees. So a leadership is the major lesson of this pandemic. They need to improve the health care is another lesson. The other one is technology. We are young children to go home because they couldn't go to school and suddenly found that they couldn't do 11 because I'd see infrastructure was you know, not of this century and so that's a number of lessons in Iraq possesses to understand that there are cycles and there is a time when the economy won't do as well or Price collapse and Thursday. Besides this was build up residence and be able to come to us as like this better will next vehicle solid will occur the need for leadership cannot be overemphasized. Right? Let's get a bit more personal. So who are your role models who I have quite a number of people but I don't want to name names, but I I choose and it's off of what determines the books that I read. Their number of people that are follow who have shown good examples in terms of Integrative who have shown good examples in terms of knowledge election code examples in terms of the confidence and to mobilize people around a common cause I've been inspired by number of sort of people who are around today put in a tree and took yes, and what would you like to be remembered for? Well, that's it. I don't think I I think I know the answer that except to say that people wage. Measurement by what I have accomplished in the profession. I have accomplished as a person without being boastful, but truth is home. I came in to this part of the world and Jonathan I am at the peak of Journalism now and I guess that provides a good wager and how I can be I remember what did I contribute to Society devalues come and remain a casa by the touch the community and they work with that total comes home or good or bad. I think those are clear points took which any measure can be can be drunk. Yeah. What is that? One thing about you that people get done is it that you can cook or you can sing? What is that? One thing about you that most people don't know I enjoy watching football and what I want Club do you support page? And have I will totally I support Manchester United my you interest yes. All right, and then fine. I know it's what are you advise young CEO maybe the ones in the media industry or across all the industries. What are you advise? Your start does not determine your finish. So I should give up once you are on to the right thing. Hang on to it and do the best you can you never know success not just around the corner as a powerful was. All right. I think you'll have time for thank you for that inspiring story. And of course for sharing a bit more personal things about you with us as well and these actual effective matters. Thank you. All right. You've been listening to Executive matters join us for our next conversation with yet another industry captain on Africa bought a radio.

Tell me a <unk>. <hes> mike childless saw old goes to the school and enjoys these things and <hes> <hes>. What books should i buy for that job and the first happened. I was so shocked and looking at the shock on my face. That lady said saudi a ha- you we'll kill and that's a shopping. These guys are the same as it becoming. She said every time i've come to heal and you knew so much about the books and you're talking to these numbers again listening to put you must be all know no. I think i'm like jazzed. I'm so strict about this but <hes> i think just keep an open mind open heart all this nonsense since about media but chico amblin pursuit of a link-up first of all people want to buy books for children. The books are in color of the water. The children are in your take your child to the bookstore. We'll skip evacuated. Knuckle nine navy dow was mainly chechini will chase little big bob it will smith board autophagy <unk> gase kobe <unk> into the big debates <unk> charlie's words and he don't do this secret your budget legit but i mean someday al do video on how to read to children and to make them widely cited psyched about books <hes> can i mentioned my next door. You okay so i have to talk called how to be a captivating storyteller. It's fifteen minutes just typed my name vinnie puzzled. She titanic's on youtube. You should have it and at least you will know whatever story you're telling hotel it. I mean that he just gives you beginning to end. You don't have website begins him who mentored other gift revisiting. Yes audit these do was give free <unk>. How can it be to begin free. So what does this concept all about. I think the concept is about a lot of parenting is supposed to be stressful. What do people say about parenting java paint until jackie who is such a big responsibility and you see this gap. Elect does middle on could collect select benny feet high mobile the yell skinny jeans on you know <hes> that's one. I hate the word responsibility okay. The other word is how muddy beauty hey jesse. You've <unk> may need you deeply value of that. I widow so please. I i am somebody who believes in joy in love in fun and when you come from the face of joy in loving <unk> your child knows it trust me i have seen so many kids who are beloved by the balance but cannot connect with them because the fan is being duty fleece responsible as a parent just because i'm a patent and the responsible person and the adult it doesn't mean i can't jump around and have fun doesn't mean i can't crack seed jokes doesn't mean i found a roll on the floor with mike. It doesn't mean i can't just have fun like a child and this is happening advocate inside your home. It's not like you're on t._v. Or something but people are so so conscious shift of their dignity tickets dignity when i try so gary parenting is about removing removing all these strange notions that people have and creating a real connect saw that so much of the stress of parenting goes away and how did this concept of carefree change you i. I've always been against seattle. It changed me but this very important put message. I would like to give everyone listening right now. I got married at twenty three had my daughter twenty five left my husband at twenty eight when my daughter was two and a half had a ferry being fully nit picky acrimonious monja horrible roiling fright for divorce completely nightmarish for me and my family and my daughter <hes> <hes> for more than four years and came out at the other end of it and i was thirty studio sort okay and feel that point it was god. I have to do everything for her. She's my life. She's everything and i have to do everything for even when i was living with my asking was was completely disengaged with the child so it's not like he ever did anything for her. Keeping up father gaby <unk> believing that the father also in the father was debt physically but many opiates which is fine ended up. Ben came the date at the beginning of the divorce when it she had to go to court and there was so much feel for both of us it was the marriage was filled with fear and i always tried to protect against it. The children are the sharpest animals in the world and the always no matter how well we've done all the leap up on the e._s._p._n. Says of course da da but the vibes hype said they get bigger. They know it already even if they don't have the words sedate and because she was also scared jeb bishop who i was so frightened because out of fear she would do whatever he asked her to do for instance if he said come and sit in my lap and she was just three years old old my god so come into my lap she would have gone because she scared there is no way to say no even done to if he had said kiss me we all have me she would all these and i was so afraid that <hes> she will do those things and she was so afraid and somehow we got through that time. I'm basically i was because i talked to jackson c. O. <unk> will be back here which also again he will give her. I give him the guy. The custody and everybody told me on crazy things alka child we'll be maybe hit michael melita. I said i mean the swan is just into all all kinds of things and we don't know how he has influenced with economic justice so it was such a bad annoyed mess. It's difficult to believe anyway anyway. We got over that and then you get into the phase of my parents have supported me. I must make them happy and i must make this kid because she's all i have and then once i look at how the parents are happy so this is not good and makita happy to one diesel. Many things dammit it. I am not so i said at this. This was just a magic moment of greece. It happened when i was dead doodoo little before the divorce kids anyway okay <unk> including but i'm i'm lucky happy to give me recommended for. It just happened in one instance just in a life changing moment because i i've been feeling this weight budding me this huge. Everybody was so kind and supportive as like. I'm thinking thank you made the mafia have been thought they will be happy all stuck in this all the time man as jagged happy. Something title eats up. Give the team happy. Forget it is the magic and trust me. It will work for anybody who can do this. I decided and i'm going to be happy so i started seeing normativity. Mommy can reduce this no cookie. I don't feel like joining. Ah be back and you buy something no. I don't want to bite. You'll find somebody to buy related not be borgeson. I believe it or not seeing so much. Suddenly i was happy. I'm by some big union stroke. If you <music>. How did he begin how you know and that's an area and this is my message to everybody listening out there from deep down inside you really really deep inside whether you're grinning or laughing or smiling or not to be happy as a parent. Don't you will be effective. Only if you are happy. I'm not saying you have to be happy to be a little bit. I you have to be happy. Then you can be a good entertainer tape because all those other things are roles you play whether your spouse iota. You're somebody in your office. Your federal europe the owner of a bet okay. You have to be happy in who you are and i'll tell you the ways this laid out so i would come home after ten hours and the state has been home coming from school and waiting for me and i would just tell her unlikely you know. I've had a long drive. I've had long. They guess what we're going to do. She was missile. Knock yet five. That was the. I don't know what we're going to do. You're going to give me ten minutes. You can see him in the house but you want to behave like i'm. I'm not sure you're not going to talk to me. You're going to come to me. You're going to touch me or hug me or be around me. You'll find something to do in your own and it just leave me space in time and she was like how do i know up ten minutes so look. That's the clock pointing them in. That big hand moves those two numbers she she says no the marks that's ten minutes and she wouldn't do whatever with the dog with a with a toys r. books. You just do our stock <unk>. Mommy is ten minutes up. It's ten minutes. I'm coming those ten minutes. Just give me a minute to catch the reds to drink a glass of water to sit down but changed aged just moved from work more to i'm a human being more than i can get into any of the moment you know being a single career in what was your biggest fear while raising your daughter and how did you can that. I had only one fear that the court would grant in custody any didn't happen so this is going to run counter to most what most people say. I think i'm a good mom my daughter definitely a lot of other people think that it you don't have to take my word for it someday. Maybe you'll get to meet with then. We'd see she's one of my biggest fans. She's always raising the flag of all god. My mama long is so cool she saw awesome blah blah but even as a good mom <hes> and a loving mom i believe for any child anyway yesterday the eight dol- patterns who knows the lehigh mom <unk> ahead bob kunas <unk> i can these are all just notions. We have from society. I just feel hutted but dicky inside his demands on to joel aqa on limited unconditional scope satiety it could be a grandparent. It could be the molly it could be the die but there has to be one person who is completely loving enacting or air consigned added. We'll check kiki. I mean that child lost some that child with <unk> and be happy and successful so i i mean the the situation was never really i asked every now and then as she kept growing up. I'm like cookie you because after a few years you know a not he but his parents reached out to me and a lot of other now we missed the <unk> la la and because there was so much misery and so much stock sigma you know the whole thing was so toxic so i was steady get full. I was actually paranoid. Now is thinking why they're going to try and get some dot gov slash mind legbanon on us and the lady was like my ex marginal. She was like topeka. We can meet outside just want to see her. You know please overto- a- and i actually said yes and i went to meet and i took my daughter. Also the reason was facing bill. I may have nothing to do that. Child signed but that is a biological father and if not be some being held future. She might have a question. Who's that guy. What's that part of me. What's that family so. I don't have the right to shut that door. I have to keep that door open so i have never said anything negative to her in her the whole life even in those horrible days never said anything negative about him or his parents even when i left i just don't i said raja raja. Mommy is not happy and i want to leave. Do you want to come. Do you want to stay and she said i'm coming and that was it. How do you say those boundaries for your daughter. And how do you say those rules from your talk. I can hear that you know she follows. Is it as events follow it. She's an extraordinary child. In terms of like people you know i asked the sun is like born buys and barn base <unk> other. Ah gaels <unk> jodi what not but i'm most children follow the rules i make for the simple reason i have very few rows news those with my daughter i had one. You'll never going to lie to me. That was it simple. It's like it. If i ask you a question. I mean growing up. Its life. Give you the example later but to ask you a question. Did somebody say something to you. You may not want to answer that question and you as a child as a person may have your own reasons to not want to answer that question. I will never question you're right to not answer my question. You can just tell it. I don't want to talk to you about it. I will buy that but you will never saw nearly two questions us to us. She asked me when she was fine. I'm sorry i don't remember the exact question which is something. I said you know. I'm having a problem because there is an answer to your question but i don't know how to give it to you in a way that you will understand today. When you are five day i can tell you. I know how to answer this question. In a way that you will understand where you are in so. Can you please remember. This question. Asked me what dan ivy lawsuit question. If you don't ask me i will bring it up. Remember who had asked me that question and we believed so we live. I like this when she was eight years old. I broke up that question. I said you've cookie the that was this i know but i just don't dan waiting to. Don't you think you're ready. I think she was soit. Side dishes like wow. You are really great. Let's go go for it and you know we. We came back with the question i gave the answer is like oh okay so another. We believe in rules news. Is you tell them what to expect. Most people don't they're like everything is no gas. Georgia mcdonagh binding legal economical legitimate bunka remains bunking. They do just three jumping up at them. Najem age. I gotta be <unk> again but here's a hook on space to move to be hiding reason dot on a ten line of freedom and discipline this discipline best to so much feed them but like i said the rules are just very very beautiful any specific incident doc you can vote for us in terms of in terms of <hes> drawing the line between freedom and discipline. I always seretse tell like a person and she has valued that shuji. She says i remember i mean even being ford and five and help people today like in team. She's beyond teenager now. She's twenty or sold but she said even in bed teenage. I see how other people talk to their children children and they treat them so differently. You d like four or five years or because he goes back to that time. You always asked me what i wanted. You treated me like a percent so to give you one example. I always wanted after the divorce case was over. We should be out of the country and might be loss. We live ample in yourself so that you have family like my folks and then taking it you know and she turns around and tells me union mommy. I love my school so i don't want to leave till i finish school cookie. Your ingrate leaded chucky lifetime talked about. I said it's okay. I need to use to set things up. So maybe you want to move into your stra. Now you know so oh you just say yes today. Take two years you can be here till five in. She said no but i just told you i want to finish school here and i'm sure go to graduate school from this school and i'm like okay and when i applaud people listened to boggling bosox. I'll give a cheeky back months dumas the people that the point is this might not very fond of daily to be honest. I've lived most of my life here. It's hard it's noisy. It's dusty legged difficult but might hate it for daily and my desire to live lord somehow to me seemed much smaller than her completes than fiction and love for the school and described in the school so i said which one is heavier for me back when his heavier so let's roll with that people ebba tobogganing porn but civil equal data essentially she had an equal vote tally spouses are actually a lot of <unk> us so let's not go there but <hes> so she says i always felt so listened to you know i ought there was always a choice right. We have to eat vegetables pitch to you want so. I'm the buzzing boo joba <unk> decode at the public. How did you get off. I go fish home home. You're never gonna eat anything there that like what do you do. What are you reading. You can't play on the tablet but you wanna do this or this or this as coach what problems you find dominating mm for paintings these days and were the probable reason solutions a while. This is the whole universe something that keeps coming to you again again. Everything is is coming to me again and again so there are problems with like children. Don't listen children. Throw a lot of tantrums. Children don't study how to make them study biggest hell to make them eat. They don't eat food how to develop their all round personality because there's so much competition partition and the kids don't understand they want to do is land how can be done better to put up futures on the line and they're literally don't understand. I don't believe children are little you mean the article but i don't believe they don't understand. I think i find it much easier to talk to children. Deduct dependence yeah. Actually you can just tell a child uh-huh okay so i'll give you one secrets how i would feed those gives his. I wouldn't feed them. We would simply sit at the table had escaped once we had. They just lost in flabby headman five four order. You drove a lot seven years three sixty five days a sticky stinky innocent crazy movements about a moment of own opinion now they were gorgeous moments actually my daughter's steady fun dance and sold the dance classes because she was she was actually teaching at fifteen as a professional dancer because she did such a lot of dance and it was miles away from where we live in so i will just be on the road and be cut up with lunch and hash pass. She'd luncheon the car. We'd sit in some kathy for half an hour and trump's four to ten plus. She'd been the dance class and be waiting in cafes and then we would drive back killing people come here at eleven fifteen in the night and she would make up the next morning at five thirty and be at the bus stop six fourteen so the days roll on so in a crazy moment while driving north lawrence v of laughter because <hes> and then he sake about people driving on the road aw good easy comments to me and we'd love but it also gives us a lot of time together because someday she don't talk i'm figuring out the school yoga defeat or or she'd be on the phone with somebody figuring out a project or something but like a lot of crazy moments like <hes> on sevice green developing dan bullet <unk> someone and this guy is just not letting meet pass n he's blocking the right lane and he's between the center and the lightly a and there are these bicycles invites going so the i have nowhere to go so we game to allow but then i'm at the left of this chapel is now fluid daikin bugger lido. He's going straight. At least there was no indicator. Eventually he went straight with me <unk> having a berlin nice up the little shop i sit back by up had even lead in school got the license milta- john bobby brown lithium kissling commit <unk> enables norton <unk> your next stop your he was so shop. Normally these people are quite addressing. This thing's nip yossi come in and he just talking looking out in his lungs. I thought he lays into the nate nate. Actually many about the minimum mikhail minicab take power of moments legs houses. How working mom can make the kid understand that she with them pretty four hours as she it'd be going out to office going out omar business trip. I am the person you should ask this question because there was a period of seven months when when my daughter was six years old but abbas booking in the house but i was developing content for the distance learning program in fashion and and when i picked up this project i thought it would be something. It ended up being a lot more intensive. I actually told her. I said all right. Listen mommy has a new project and she's like okay and i said here's the deal. It is a lot of work and i'm going to doing it from home. I typically would work from home melissa except actually outside the meetings and things and here's what we're going to do for six days of the week. I'm going to be with you for twenty minutes. In the day the clock and i said she knows clocks and time matters because obtained from gimenez <unk> and on sunday i will be with you for two hours and every night when you off to sleep ivan sleep with you in the bed for two hours and believe it or not at my mclane was in <hes> in in the house like a covered balcony on the first floor. We'll see me david gerald c make mitt beaches jetties so she used to be in the house will seven months i would win. I got up and said alright are twenty minutes starts now she would look at the clock. We'd have heartbreaking minutes of work ethic class. I would go back to work and in the middle of the night sometime between one thirty and two a._m. Egal's mommy. He and i were showdown say everything put on the alarm for two hours in bed with her <unk>. I'm here mommy's ear. I'm with you you for two hours now. She would snuggle up to me. I would hold her see for twelve. My lama go often. I'm like all right. Children sleep well. It's i'm up now and you'll do abused seven months on the job so like i said if you treat them like human beings and you tell them all right the other thing is you must take it when they tell you listen. I'm busy. I don't have time for you better than storm vance. Never or parents have to be so busy. Kids have to be always ready if the kids has been children abi mchinji <unk>. You'd better go by dash nilda humping. This is nonsense this you have to like i said if you respect that child is a person you will just have a completely phenomenal relationship with you. Slim gonna have a maybe not on bidding for kids one point five and five years bannon's of children yeah and in this machine that <hes> so i love one idea is of course that why don't i send you a link and maybe you can share that <hes> you know at the bottom of the links to the podcast or on social media or something in fact now that you bring it up. I would like to make a special offer just to the listeners of this program mm-hmm where if you click on that link. I'll i'll set it up in this way you can benefit from a twenty percent discount on the cost of the webinar also up to just close with one line about what it's going to be. This is for the parents of children one one and a half years old to five years old and this is the very simple simple secret to make children easier to manage to apply the solution is going to be both simple and easy. Normally they are not the same thing like losing weight is simple eat less exercise. It is not easy but the solution that i'm sharing to make children easier to manage is both simple and easy. It will not cost you anything to implement you. Don't need any gear anything for it. It will take your maximum of ten minutes a day and i get into this is us with a within three to seven days. Tell a story for working moms. What does that mean any story that you want and the working moms to hear all these stories about <hes> okay <unk> disabled favorite song in you know so many and you can't think of a single so that's the space i'm. I'm in <hes> what i would really really says. If you would just do value yourself i know a lot which of us as working moms on not really in the mental an emotionally strong place that we pretend to be and we pretend even to ourselves so the only thing i want to reach out and says this new shame there is no built because trust me to want. I'm to be a good mom or the jury anything plus. You have to be there. I there has to be you and then they can be you being a good. Could somebody or other so sexy. The airlines dick ten minutes stick <unk> two minutes. Just keep digging that little bit of time and tell people look i needed and then i will be with you and the minute. The child sees that yes this sort of participating muggle well because i didn't get ten minutes and the smother whose life in a different zone because i gave ten minutes that you have to follow through you have to stand up they'll set and you know the biggest effect you teach your children to stand up on themselves is of choosing fan. You didn't learn it at home when you were a kid. That's how you trumpington incident now. That's a gift you can compete you know what is the source of your energy. I decided those crazy people. I'm just always widely widely <unk> excited about that so many amazing things and people endo. What's i am very wonderful interacting with ubani. Thank you so much time likewise. I think i've i've had gone maybe two or three times overboard the only what the thing is but thank you so much and i do hope i helped in some way shape or form everybody out there. "The hub hopper originals hello friends who welcome to the podcast executive mom stories stories. This is not an ordinary business on us but this show is offering people who are making extraordinary. The walking longs four juggling balance today executive mom stories let the two thousand sixteen is when i i became more and i mentioned this is because we've changed a lot of things i started eating it. Does the jefferson blink for many people have such great jobs because they just a young mom. Tacoma's kamar phonography chronicle temperature dot daughter has sebastian for understanding breeding levels of children and community around yet frontal is i use people for children and grassi each group of succed fourteen cutlass for ep including. She has written over two sprints for an education show on county. He's a graduate in mass media on occasion and has been n._b._a. Throw mike model with other mothers right condemn function component experiences heinisch <unk> amid we does it look lining the last two months and finally there is the thanks for taking hoping that this didn't happen on you know health. We understand that w._b._z.'s able to make so widely of it. Take us through your data jeanniot starting a <unk> and then young unico always all the discipline. I was <hes>. I'm of naval officers this joint soil. There's a defense between no the v._i._p. Receiver i think there is a difference. Between how fence children are these dope anyplace. At least i found that defense ause especially the name towards the civilian world and i ended <unk> last night so that's the diamond my father left the navy leander restarted living in you know civilian environment and i started queen two civilians which is which is a continent but <hes> but what i didn't realize at that point in time was that there was a certain amount of discipline the baby's poop to be that was missing an agenda seven clean environment however my school was very <hes> you know it was pantaleo bridge because they did to whom unison certainly <hes> but i did find one thing that was strange because they did was so i found that you knew that is a huge which <hes> defense in the way people faded and the abandoned stalk to their children and the way the you know the children get wrist. <hes> thankfully that gap is used to launch now but the point in time i was was leeann <unk> stage in on since to be huge for me. It was a a big good jump started dominating coinage by the time i finish nigerian basically i launch. I had this radio starting up the h._o._v. dot com and <hes> so my first job was also a i did a painting stint g._w._p. But i ended up working with eighteen and i started writing a lot of education trips within that also gave me an insight into hall hard-right pitches and <hes> offspin i wanted you to it will getting a lot of parents. I know they were posted. Impedance living in a nuclear household for the first time and when i saw the <unk> still fighting data difficult for them to manage to get out give defend in how to manage the children in because of this was of those janati <unk> cases <unk> left beds and we're operating as <unk> unit <hes> so i found out that you know there's this huge gap. These looking for advice that it would be is wondering if they're doing night or so. I created this ocean naple for children. The forbidden spoil the child who jockeying though game <hes>. The name was coined by my father geneva design. We will release more then everybody did. Something unite listened to them. They would follow apparently of my father. I'd already magin the list of some thousand children you know millions of children in fact we do something heavy wooden double set talbott journalist then those dog and our journey store nude often on that list the i. other note so so we'd ice the one st internet was in announced reading nip guide enlisted. There's a huge possibility actually creating that list but then i believe to do comparisons and awesome network for they didn't think an it will but i wasn't a bit when i was twenty twenty venues so l. This was the bitch dead guac metoo mike so during my interview where it mike <unk> communication during my interview at mike god this is what i spoke about and i- impact more presentation and stuff so when i give back and i got selected for forcing no communication location <unk> being communication promotion <hes> i this this website primarily around that time along with my colleagues at my and looking out there also marketed but you know i do then no it was already two thousand in lebanon housing tonight. He's got started over something thing what peace groups and <hes> i facebook group was drink writer only to get traffic. <unk> migrant cycles a huge challenge so they told they needed some digital marketing students in this is not a thousand i walked it another company for a couple of months but then i go to i deem joel <unk> viewpoint viewpoint india and <hes> of course i didn't think twice i took it up longer dot on the joe. I don't digital the remark thing in theon guided in the midst of this sin in two thousand <hes> equity the job <hes> do actually scott young young ninety was called. The newspaper was blocked a job so she nikolic is it was it's a lot of things to try to forum for parents tito's attend the newspaper we'd had studies type things <music> but by then by thousands of a team i had learned the i should presume just going to be and then you also expand that as a concept not stocked with things and see what's working so ivan. I said you know maybe i should start conforming <unk> repealing <unk> mini devi education gatien tvs so i did that and <hes> and then connect with the job that you're forgetting sanity. I'm putting you imagine. I'm not getting that. Sandy is let you so idolize that okay. You know i was fitting footage of the first month. I was a little disappointed united as that of course is going to happen. I started at that point in time also getting offers from startups to digital marketing for them so i thought this is a lead idea instead of these projects up they find my team mm-hmm and then i get that team to write for my people. This and i did that so he did. A soft launch in two thousand fourteen within people were servicing <hes> weaver running doing digital infinite number of startups and bill. Can we started. Dan chroniclers them but i wasn't satisfied without the game because you know <hes> steinhauer giant <hes> understands things in things in goose is very difficult so leonardo the unfunny came in for defeating was mindful jocelyn last do people progressively glass full pacific so leeann steadily good feedback from people saying that jalen defensive any easy to read of the class people people really <unk> one doesn't from some other place in the united this. It's not just stayed cities even the density of the defeating living in the same johnson. You'll find the children were defending young. Who's therefore you know. It wasn't just about paid important. Infodev beautiful gossip was about contained for reading and so we sat down we did some research. Two thousand fifteen is win. When i became a mom and i mentioned this is because it changed things i started also meeting a lot of people who've parents and one of those which i wasn't doing before and <hes> and i realized so many people have left such great jobs <hes> because <unk> they just couldn't do a manager of the ways and so and did they will be shown united lloyd from some real estate company from some other consultancy village educated people putting their jobs because they needed to take care of their child so <hes> and i i was feeling the pressure myself so in my daughter ni- show was eight nine news one day i was doubling between you know whether nice should check the digital marketing agency for on and do you know i was managing my door wa and the digital marketing agency and so possess getting too much and so <hes> so he denies that david was working so we had i right at the point in time came up with this idea nice that i should mothers for this because everytime owed ask the mother or do she became job should sit but his plunged would be a failure no i i used to work for x._y._z. Company so these not be widened defile walkers on nielsen nielsen identify themselves with their jobs because of the money basically because they were different that they were contributing so i basically stopped stop or digital marketing agency every envied weaving between sure that everybody got some of the companies lease on the shutdown and eventually somewhere around i would say two thousand sixteen do is actually started working one one the is now so <hes> i miss my point in december. Two thousands of females are listed for eighty over. The baby. Suit was again a game changer for us. Two thousand fifteen is like that when we started rethinking or things by mid december two thousand fifty yards apart validation for an ideal venue direction. Thank you know maybe we should. I should just people sing on this end h._a. And of course is people got offers we basically shorter operations and union could end and the wind signed my shoots in that you'll misamis delivered to the movies it is said level so what type of who oh you are trying to suceed <unk> evans there north winds <unk> though sitting anywhere be soclean doesn't know soon conclude. You'll be contained in english of louisville offered in other languages. I want a child doesn't new english do with north be able to get that information. See your all the momento if you get into the moment of printing press game about that set diamond information started doing which foster a delays on then it was just a restricted couple of dates us city eating as usual when it comes to that during its vibe even was a sitting in immediately so <hes> so if which i cannot read that will doesn't mean that you know he's also not getting access to so much of mortgage so where we've come out with this we happen to seem important in different reading levels that are seven different greeting cards and was that you know even if the u the most complex topic roofing onto a very simple topic is broken down into very simple language region presentation for golan's so that a child ineffective off joseph <unk> cassidy's. If he has a question he gets an we're happens video finis- finish a loss fish in you. Don't you're not able to come down to the jails levin he <unk>. You need to operator mobile understands. You don't what else variable is. We're not saving defending levels for children released and i'll pittance. Can i the whole a._b. Sick we'll ride into famous. If seven different sentences the senses being the same thing <unk> insen attention towards <unk> additional concept sided with the defense as delivered eleven purposes so the post every would be rahm loves this wonderful family levinson would be houses wonder family as elder the system who is in this draws were. I think he'd yakushin in a in an ice fishing. So what happens. Is it efficient yet. You must have seen got <unk>. Sticking yesterday did <unk> then you will be the family doctor unites. That's invents. Basically you know which i understand that should be be <unk> <unk> what it will continue it levinson. How come modern liberals list there was a lotta analysis that happened soviet winelands of text books saturday by to basically in the sixty teenage so we started n._c._n._b. And we'd like to see that you know on the latest decks roast window the english books of the incident obese what that income you did. I've out of it and <hes> essentially wouldn't find a probation. Should we found that there was some japanese in the past. One dixmude would lead even close to order just c._j. And then there were some chapters in phoenix the right to leave it easy narcos consistency minute game to livan's so i'm sure they have some science is behind it but it wasn't urinated use lexical reading methods to user reviews an international youth <hes> the measure complexity incidences of lexical reading but you know though that whisper mainly <hes> it was for the american standard so we had sort of not doing unions and when we do that that is not the v two so the next thing that it was picked up we did a survey and we figured out ron christie books children in this particular age could lead this any unity and <hes> and then of course the v. segregated those books age waste and any dynamics analysis on this score each and every piece of a story index medieval that behind that had been <hes> hub dinner come up the sylvie and the phones <hes> you know so be identified certain scores and then be broken down into seven treating ovens so disperses. It's about about four five months to dissension and you know so michael. Foundered is an idea. He's a booth in a program where he's of eight hands-on hands-on listen withholding <hes>. I have a language in communication background of the person who's not usually use not formally participant. I keep an he's. He's a data scientist so so you know i get that advantage of him. Being lookie behind the scenes noise not working looking but he keeps classes keeps telling us you look at these metrics evaluate <hes> that we were doing the disapprobation used. I drank identify so then. I don't know if you've seen it is a report that it comes out on e._s._p._n. <hes> soviet schools in education report so that often comes out every year and they they don't communica market statistics lake in forty-eight was inches in in classics could redo festival so after the phone that you know about fifty he percents children are classics on a liberal five in a bargain forty seven percent on eleven <unk> so these are primarily by these children <unk> victories so that's a good start to stick that it has these seven meeting of lives out of boredom because ultimately so say elections going on and save wanna talk bartlett <unk> child who's on level seven columbia journalism number one or john lewis eleven one is explained laminant broadly what's happening to be given given sample of our our last monitor and be selected you know using the same process that in an election a secret ballot process and dingo assist the change in cast one is explained the same topic distantly where it is but as a child on an emmy seven <hes> you know will be explained what a constituency nc is howard constituency is divided. They divided visas population however the housing selected and then what is avoiding order wishing things. Aren't you know i did on what is happening. In the current scenario with immediate season ardita presented so the house moves it was the maximum so at least what these children irrespective of the class it have understood broadly nexans suit white <unk> team found that the way mothers was more suited tencent fooled okay. So have you mother told <hes> does the same thing with their change. David videos joined <unk> as it's jalen rose. The mother understands how the changes will best in what does learning pipe of the chain similarly soil vichit cities in which is more could be standard. You know families will another two units so being a mom idolized myself. I'd expected by expectation to the rich h._i._v. <unk> via hire became a moment and i said okay no this needs to be done with more. Maybe nominated articles louis university often. I know exactly how to go about it because i can understand that. Okay should be this much vivian meter little more into st louis another form before sort of on to simulate like judge the probation so sue backpack on moves sweaty <unk> attended smothers in hidden because they'd been to the buses and says i'm showing would know whether because whether taste zoning believe your yup you'd be able to connect more with the day staying things and what ding mothers may be an identity crisis awful cooking they do that is so if you own excedence of an an older you let happily also against smoking even if i did i this choice of working from boom was zohreh. Something wasn't very conscious and i started vic long before i begin them all myself so the moment i decided he didn't want to start a family has been decided that i should know which fight aglow job who something build it up by the time mehta's one buna so i always had that in my mind. That's not what i mean. I'm not i'm shot. Joe grinded. What's like that either because i always also knew that i wanted to start love because i didn't talk with my job because of just wanting to be a model i yeah i knew that i wanted to be a mother. I had certain other family considerations has been. I know this knew that i wanted to soccer so by the time that it actually giant actually league game on won't stop initial sort of soccer so you're not overweight underrepresented alba virgil otago proficient voter so you would think by the time we actually quit my job is i feel an added tack on the last two months so that actually we have to eventually find unchronicled so i'm happy today to join even minnesota running their digital marketing agency. I'm in all these it was. The support formula has been from the penalty. I don't think i could have comes with its own giants in jubilation leonov as it was not unusual but i'm trying to send some news given up a job in his actually a renewed none of this. This is not that easy and initially via was running. The digital marketing agency facilities <unk> winnie coming. You'll find stay so you win. They see things happening with the product. This becomes a little difficult because initially for putting your own money so that is something that's a little difficult for people on the samples goes up you have more time and i don't but i will go with the beef as opposed to domes taking care of my daughter this man that certain things and i think i have that support you people rated logo indent susan dey in fickle abdul hall viewer oriented or look. That's a challenge uh-huh no sushi. This is definitely have to at least odometer sees shifts definite i dream. I'm a fairly fall so they doesn't let spoke to mess it on. Let's see she's a and shield's understands. She gets her pension diamond. I mean a lot of things to her because i am in the i know things are being in the same mocking in the same <unk>. It's interesting things introduce activities. She's urine someone so you know so. This is typical place and she laughing so one of the reasons variety not go shops in you know and uh uh multiple thinking of starting uses faces a little spaces because so she she just loves it so she listenable she knows to lead in factor. The bedtime story dimas <unk> benatti missed sore today not lending activism <unk> she said documentaries and she finishes them off so we have to sit in spanish <unk> doing inactivity of lead and induces each <unk> vince and <unk> you black you took it away sloan digital in fact you shouldn't because it honor with things out there it it is with all the games have been more skin development. There are a lot of activities that the kids can one things saloon can watching should watch maybe so but i just say that you know needs to be a discipline around and you need to decide what you want to expose your eight so these are just things that they should be. It should be an integrated thing so if you said decide han forty five minutes depending on your age or maybe more of you know it's sorta by thinking we should use it. We get out the giant egyptian yeah the cost of physical activity or reading books. Physical bulls were ideal looping community. I don't know what was it idea that ideals because i felt it and you will find a load of some of these issues of this is like the newest back so the idea was basically to get paid insane mothers to interact with each other in solutions lucy yourself the young going after five years. I wanted to be a learning platform across nine which is close applause. Cities across the country in the world is a black hole where those compete with contained children get access to attend it doesn't mean leading gordon but audiovisual content among old this you are baking dingy than dent and working william wyler. Let i'll be fine dine blues. It doesn't day the completed so you enjoyed lead the reasoning with them. Beat landed landed particularly. I get up in the morning and then i decide what needs needs to be done and if on a particular day i can achieve deeper soon of the <unk> unhappy and that list includes things that might order mccamley <hes> league cooking teaming annual everything so it's not just what it's not that i it's my everything that i'm supposed to do that my that that's so wonderful injecting do envy these young gun soon becomes see also named <unk>. Thank you hala working king. Mum's there is no alternate bedtime stories to your kids more digital. You become more unique then have a wonderful stay tuned to execute among stories for any feedback to not show your mom stories and genealogical order food salaam. "The hub hopper originals hello friends who welcome to the podcast executive mom's stories this. This is not an ordinary business podcast but this show is with ordinary people who are making an extraordinary efforts the working moms who are juggling to balance at work and home today on executed mom stories so mishra challenges have been trying to blend the well can in life in a harmonious way the most difficult. I'm obviously when i go back to work where it might give us four months old so that <hes> that <hes> two gold mental toll on it someone senior vice president group strategy at mahindra and mahindra she was recently chosen for forty dollars forty leaders by my economic times a mother of four years jangle based out of mumbai having sixteen years corporate experience with companies like mine ryan mind cipla mckenzie and accenture she did m._b._a. From ross school of business michigan and computer engineering from end to using upper high someone welcome to the podcast executed lump streets. We are so excited to have you on this podcast today. I'm before we get started. Heartiest congratulations for taking you to think nommik thanks for being so. How are you doing. Thank you got it the kids. I'm doing very good and thanks for having me me on the phone because your expedience of making it to the list of forty fourteen <hes> list that is largely curated. Take a knee and <hes> judy decide so it's not <hes> something that you know we compete for <hes> <hes> <hes> apply to cry sachin expedient so <hes> getting on the list is <hes> i i didn't have much of a expedient but once i got on the list are the eventual fabulous i got an act with a lot of <hes> other people who we're on the list and also made the judy and all of it <hes> was just a beautiful expedience of which happened very recently as a working mom what had been your most challenging times while raising your data i have been quite fortunate to have a wonderful support system <hes> and also have the ability to pay for a support system and he did it but i guess the biggest challenges have been trying due blend the work and life in a harmonious way the most difficult time obviously was when i go back to work when mikey was four months old so that <hes> that <hes> took its own mental toll on it <hes> but that's someone who has always has a professional installation always worked there was no alternative but it wasn't hard to leave a <hes> full month old at home and get back to work <hes> so that was tough off and then i guess the <hes> second. I guess the days is when he'll try illicit when you have a big important meeting. Can you really wish to be home with your kid those stuff they would say <hes> on average. I have been able to you know executive. It'd be not that i have to be able to be there for my child on on <hes> the difficulties but that updates when you just when you something is gonna do the a new daily just cannot miss it and then <hes> you have to be away and find those the very challenging ones and how do you handle those challenging being base or challenging times. What's the kind of plan that you prepared. You know that can help you in overcoming that challenge alright. I guess i guess security anyone to be successful at work and really have a tightening life as you need to be very very organized and very structured in how you approach this so <hes> one thing is. Let's say <hes>. I haven't imaginative trip and the end of the month okay good <hes>. Let's say i have it in them. Which i incidentally do have now <hes> when i bet trip and i obviously have advanced notice because i might is landed then i would make sure that <hes> hopefully my petters. My husband can be home for that would be of i <hes>. I do have a full time. Living hell like my need was the good part of my life but <hes> we have a rule that <hes> if unite night one of the parents has to be home so we don't <hes> you know so we always says or with your kid every night so if i had been planet and then then my parents come in and just spend like a couple of weeks three weeks whatever <hes> has made those types <hes> and other times you may go use your louis part time you go home early. Come back early whatever it takes <hes> but <hes> it's really a blend. It's really <hes> you know. It is <hes> so it's just a goal mission that has real pissed tonight. It's about it. I mean it's not a fifty fifty balance. It's auto mixed together can be a page so you have to sort of really blend the focus on life to focus on the focus on health focus on <hes> on all of this focus on your family because most of the family than just the mother right all along you know really <hes> issues in <music> mix it over the course of months days and years okay so you have worked with essential supplies mackenzie now eminem so how do you see women fitting into deferrals controls across companies in diversified feeds. How do women featured restaurant. I mean i guess i fundamentally believe this. Man can view <hes> given <hes> the opportunity in it so <hes> why didn't accenture and mckinsey consulting firms the role of vending of any noise to just follow and get up to participants <hes> which that are subject of this <hes> in like <hes> <hes> that are i'm an even men in the executive board <hes> that are most i think three or four remained in the senior most ranks of the company and also as well on the factory floor in the most of the packaging lines in manufacturing in pharmacy to defense companies run by women lots of medical affairs quality cetera stuff so that have been given enough pharmaceutical industry in eminem wet. It is a lot more sort of manufacturing oriented business and <hes> the few woman in <hes> <hes> the manufacturing but my grandma has you know has large number of companies like club mahindra raindrop mahindra. Life's pace is my <hes>. <hes> logistics minded so now all of these that women in different levels and functions so it is my view that <hes> you know once you set your mind to get it done then you will reach the destination. Oh what does it take for women to break the glass ceiling and shackled the barriers in power corridors. You know talking about who many executive position so. What does it take to to break that ceiling and reach that position. I think perhaps uh a lot more confidence and i'm the woman but did you think risks right. <hes> i must be willing to raise my hand when the opportunities i've thrown at me <hes> <hes> <hes> and <hes> creating a network of mentors the doctors and other leaders who can <hes> both thousand meantime so they might have difficult decisions to make who can give me feedback and also not yet the opportunities for me so in my sense these fuel tanks supported by all the kids who are liberal capability to deliver will definitely have the big glass ceiling as a working mom. What do you miss the most and how do you compensate for that. <hes> i dorm pink. I miss much actually <hes> i i just i'm not the kind of person who until i miss. There's i missed that i say you. I'm just not the kind you know i. I and i also don't like necessarily. The you know the working mom. I'm i work at home and i do everything they can to ensure that spend as much time with the judge and take a <hes>. I think i missed much much admits more having more vacations irish as a family we could take more time off and on since <hes> between my spouse nice take my kid. That is the one thing that i want to improve on because i feel that when you're in the vacation when you're relaxed from the stresses of the day to day working you could need bond and better family so we do take a couple of vacation every year but i feel like <hes> we have shifted more. You know more shorter breaks or maybe maybe even longer vacation in the so i don't family i feel that that gives me a chance to connect my family with my child and a lot more focus kind of with otherwise <hes> you know everyone has a choice to make and everyone has to follow and i feel the best answer is if you are happy with the past that you choose okay so you talked about taking vacations so <hes> is it one of the stress poster that you have other many maureen which comes comes into play and helps in getting recharged absolutely do need to recharge angel given the charges self so tell me <hes>. I acted fueled up okay <hes> i do it. I try to do it every day but let's say fight. The week is uh-huh manage pissed <hes> so every morning around five or six i stopped by majority leader in two minutes to wanna wanna and that to me <hes> being centered obviously the other big stress busters my four year old who's laying around at home with me and the evening when i go back mccomb rachel she literally is the guest dressed bus stuff but you have to find the balance. How do you manage your time. <hes> our need if you can share certain tips that helps you in a figuring out what i am needs to be given to work activity. So how do you organize it. I am very well to say that i counted. She'll strength and thank god for that because this would be pretty crazy <hes> but i think think some <hes> some practices i follow. I don't know if it will help others but the practice is g._e. To tyler is okay. You can be dead foyer. There are paying you won't be able to attend to whether they be <hes> dinners <hes> in in the evening for work or something but today he's up days for your kid. You know things you just can't be there because you are one person and any of this many days of time so for me the first born just prioritize prioritize. What is it that you absolutely must do and then deepak. Don't let it bother you right so i'm just thinking i say it's an even weekend. Let this as a weekend. <hes> <hes> dinners paying somebody for well okay then. I am very happy to say saudi. I've gone make it <hes> only betty selectively collectively the nicer yes but i'm happy to say sorry. I won't make it and it's okay. You know it's okay to say. I can't be every day every weekend for everything <hes> <hes> on. Let's say that is a. I don't know i'm saying that's not a day the mothers so so this one thing so for example the mothers <hes> <hes> all the kids want to get together for coffee on working day afternoon. Obviously ain't gonna make it but you know it's alright. I was just this big. This is dry within the companion of paradise. It doled sweat the small stuff so this is my this is another thing that has learned to my experience radiance of so many of handling all of these different things that are small things that you won't be perfect in fact perfection enemy here. Please just let go whether you have to build you know like <hes> <hes> gupta snacks for you know kid or sometimes of a costume party or whatever it is you know. It's okay if you didn't make it happen. It didn't make it happen right so you shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself to be perfect at home. Audit audits work. You have to just really give it your best and excel at what you do but perfection is not an enemy. Sometimes it's okay. My husband is messy. It's okay if you just didn't get the time to get it done. It's okay or some get delayed by empty more weeks than they should be. That's also so for me needs like brenner days and <hes> going back this most stuff and i think the third one is us outsourcing effectively <hes> <hes> you know there are many things that you wish you could do it yourself but it's much better to just ask somebody to help you do it so you time so like whether it is offering alfred home but <hes> you know buying the veggie burgers or getting this that and the other things done <hes> i am very happy to outsource all these responsibilities disabilities so that <hes> i have more time to spend with my kid and myself and my husband <hes> whenever boss was perfect so your message for working mums i prioritize <hes> hand and don't sweat the smallest stuff. It was wonderful interacting with you. Someone thank you thank you so much for your time. Thank you thank you hello looking king. "A More Collaborative Financial Services Industry Would Deliver Better Value" - Titi Odunfa Adeoye, CEO Sankore Investment

"Welcome to another episode of executive matters on Africa Business Radio Shack on the executive seats for today's podcast is an entrepreneur family wealth and investment strategist her interest in financial markets began at the age of Thirteen and it's grew into a passion when she began investing on her own for the first time at Seventeen her experience of the tech Bubble at an early age made her passionate about understanding the rules and strategies that guy Investments t t idea is the founder and CEO of sanchore Investments. She serves wage Board of several companies and nonprofits including Century registers verified that the energy one fi and the Nigerian. Hi Ed. and Foundation So how would you describe Africa in terms of where the continent currently is its potential and where it should be. That's an interesting question where we are a potential really should be a believer in the fact that I think that our countries go through Cycles countries continents Empires go through Cycles, right? So if you look on the world you look at you know, Europe you look at life in India. You kind of see also the sick of the quality of pretty much, you know, just sort of regions and countries through time. So, if you just sort of look at those General Trends, you would actually see that, you know, just sort of where we are is really the beginning of the cycle, which is what I find to be quite interesting. So, yep. Which we're kind of at a point where we're really just coming out of everyone living in a bit more of an individualistic. We're right and we're now moving towards greater consolidation. And so and so what you find is that's the beginning of growth that's the beginning of innovation. That's the beginning of all the interesting things that we've seen a lot of the other regions go through life. So given that you know, I think it's a great time to be African. It's a great time to be in Africa and I'm very much looking forward to you know, being part of that wave, but I think one thing to keep in mind that people think that these ways should be much faster but these waves are literally decades, you know, sometimes centuries-long so we can't expect anything to happen overnight, but it's just really fun to be part of the process of building and hopefully, you know, our children our grandchildren maybe even further along will be the ones to benefit from what we do now. But yeah, I think the potential is huge. And what you guys to where we're going? I do think that there's definitely potential for us to be really just sort of dominant players on the world stage. Okay. So in your industry. If you were to change one single a couple of things what will it or what would they be? So my industry is I mean generally it's Financial Services much more specifically. It's the investment space, you know, so if I were to say the specific, you know, just sort of filtering out what fits in there. I would say, you know, a lot of them are regulated by the Securities Exchange Commission. And that's a wide range, you know, so investment Banks Investment Management firms Brokers trusts and so on and so forth. I think that if I were to change one thing I would have us be much more collaborative. I think that because of where we are because of just sort of the number of things that we do home. By not working together. We create a bit of a disjointed experience for clients. I think if we could be more collaborative come together a bit more. I think we could then actual as an industry, you know offer the kind of value that you know other sub-sectors of Financial Services have been able to to to customers like Banks and am too I think because you know where you know much smaller the scale is less if we were to come to get a lot more work together a bit more we'd be able to create a larger platform will be able to walk, you know, just sort of build more confidence in our industry. So making us more collaborative I think would be what I would want to change. Yeah. Okay. If you don't mind could you share with us the journey that led you to where you are right now highlights, you know of things that you went through that brought you to this point that you off. Right now in your career. Journey okay, just so we don't spend too much time. I think exactly short stories. I mean the short stories high school. I would switch from being assigned student to more of a social science student. So my best subjects were things like economics and math and so on and so forth. So I always just sort of liked this idea of our markets, right so that took me to University. So I went to high school international school day glass and International School. Ibadan, actually both of them. Then I went to Iraq Howard University where I studied accounting but you know just to to get a job in the states really, but that made me want to make sure I got back to my for which was invested. So I went to business school after that and then after that went to work at Goldman Sachs, which was my first investment experience after working there for a few years actually a wide range of asset classes wage. I remember being very passionate about about emerging markets and given that I'm from an emerging market or a frontier Market I decided was a really good time to just sort of come back home if I could focus on that for for my career. So what back to Nigeria and you know since then just sort of, you know, either I did work in Seneca for a little off but outside of that I spend majority of that time building my company. Yeah, so that's it short story short story. Yeah, so we are living in particular time. Now the word New Normal has become part of addiction no offense to the coronavirus and there are lessons to be learned in every situation no matter how Diana matter home and what it is. So what are some of the lessons that you think we should take away from? You know, what this. Has brought us during this coronavirus. Off. That's a good question. And you know for me I think only because you know people should be crisis ready just generally so the crisis ready with your Investments a lot of things that have to do with your ability to provide for your family provide and so on and so forth at the end of the day, it's quite predictable pandemics happen quite home of it, you know, you can expect about two or three birth percent in addition to pandemics other things happen. Also quite frequently Market crashes happen Market Cycles are real and people don't pay attention to those large downsides and things are going well, you know is been aware that these times do happen. I'm making sure that your decision the decisions you make creates allowance for that, you know, so you should try and make sure you hold it diverse portfolio if it's in your career selection, you know, also probably try and think about Foods careers, if you're an entrepreneur think about industries that can actually survive bad times, you know, so just thinking about that X in your planning actually it's typical for human beings to not think of the downside as much so we actually on Presa made the downside generally, you know, a slight bias towards positivity is good for you for the long term, but it also can be a problem when it's your overly positive in your decision-making, you know, so just thinking about the possibility of this happening should change the kind of decisions you make so take for example, if you're trying to think okay. I want to start a business you're trying to decide between a food business and a beauty business. You know, I think coronavirus will teach you that probably is a bit more stable. So I think those are some of the key takeaways that I think people should take from this happening is that this kind of stuff will keep happening final question. What's your advice. To the younger generation or the aspiring Co so with regards to just advice for the younger generation and especially for those who want to start their own businesses and I guess it also relates a little bit what we're talking about with regards to the lessons from coronavirus. I generally tell people that it's building a business building a successful business life boils down to two things it boils down to working harder than most people ever want to work in their lives but doing so and off saying that to the right problem, right? So I think a lot of people you meet will say to you. Oh, yeah. Yeah working hard. I can do that, you know, so yes, you hear that. It takes a lot of hours and then you hear that, you know, the average entrepreneur when they started their company was working twelve to eighteen hour days. That is true. I think you'll see that a lot of birth. People who have built successful companies will tell you that. Yes the beginning to put in a lot of hours, but I think one area that people don't Focus as much on is off the problem that they're applying the hard work too. So I always give people the advice that they really have to think very deeply about what type of business they want to cross and I say that because it's not every business that can scale is not every business that's supposed to scale. But if you want something that will scale you have to solve a difficult problem. So I'm assuming you're looking for a certain level of scale and for you to achieve that scale you have to solve a difficult problem. So it's you know, putting a lot of effort but also applying that efforts towards a difficult. So I think that would be my summary for young people. All right. Thank you so very much. It's been off. They're very very interesting conversation if I can say so myself, but we really really appreciate the privilege of your time. Thank you so much. Thanks for your time as well. All right, bye-bye. Okay. Bye. Thank you. Until our next conversation with another industry cutting off. This has been executive matters on Africa Business Radio.

A Brilliant and Unwavering Commitment to The Jaiz Project - Hassan Usman, MD Jaiz Bank Plc

"You're listening to Executive matters on Africa business radio and bimbola really off our executive for today's podcast has a first class degree in accounting from a mother below University obtained in nineteen. Eighty five four years later. He became an associate member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria icon Hassan Usman is the current managing director of J's Bank. Add to use self-motivate. Well, so G motivation for me is about setting realistic goals off that Shiva below and well achieved they will be a source of even further motivation for 416. It is it's always good to look at what is what type of goals one point to achieve off line for a business that makes sense for all the stakeholders. If it is in business, the shareholders have aspirations who said the box is your customers help aspiration. They want some level of sizes and value added to their business you have colleagues. Have they also have the expectation so goals around all of these various stakeholders that will balance off as a person and and increase the value of the firm. What as a thank you for that is it saved say that it's sense of accomplishment rather of your goals motivates you based on your response. Yes. And and also when am I able to achieve am I realistic to look back to see what are those things that I should have done differently so that employed those two product home and analyzing our strategies and and practice so that the overall goals in the long run is achieved. All right, that's good. Right? I said Papa Jake. To do with a lot of responsibility. Do you relax I'm educated by my calling. Yeah constant thoughts rituals that I do when I say that there are things that I do on a day-to-day basis in between hours that would make me to relax and refer my mind clarifying my objective and make the workplace button. That's interesting. All right, let's move to the next one. If you were to change one thing just one thing in the current industry that you are. What would I be in a banking industry you mean? Yes, let's just say Financial Services industry, generally. if I can change the nature of financing to look longer time rather than short-term that is to be difficult for me because it is something that will enable the economy to investigate areas that are strategic that are also they they they are the engine that will off and give plug the the the economy and Society but these things cannot be achieved with a 90-day or 180-day money off in my hand to change the structure of the intermediation in such a way that Both the investment and the issue is I looking at longer-term perspective. This perspective will be better better than this nation. All right. Okay. That's the Cars. Net wider looking at the Cog in state of Africa right now in this current landscape in terms of the potentials of the continent the current you know, if you qualities I know that I would you describe the continent based on the current realities seemed to me that one of the major major constraint in Africa is Getting the right leadership that will handle the bridge Intentions by way of human and natural sources that would been endowed with in such a way that allows I forgot. I can beam between of some of the forefathers those who fought for the duration of Africa they had a truck in there and I'm sure some of them would have been disappointed if you were to wake them from their claims see we are struggling to feed them myself. So what what can we do as Millennials, you know in terms of those disappointments so does this is more like a follow-on off? Questions with regards to your response. Well, what can we do as Millennials looking at the opportunities that we have access to based on the on the advancement in terms of Technology package visions that we have right now. What can we do as should we be thinking as Millennia as as you know, business Executives like yourself When you see the the Millennials have Advantage, but they also have huge distractions. Hm that that they need to call please. In these Millennia, once you have the basic interesting you get some level you are able to compete in terms of access to information and knowledge with any chance anywhere in the world because of the Advent of the internet off and the dated technology around around that but but this also comes with a lot of distractions. So a millennial have there for the possibility. to a live frog they are the achievement of their holes and become very successful if they take steps to deal with the disruptions that that you have the technology comes with faith-based wearing the very good things like Innovation ability to use ICT to solve social and economic problems took money out of out of out and the billions have among them world-wise very good example to copy from But like I said the challenge. Is how do they deal with those distractions around the various capacities that I see two for information technology long as the open in this layer. I believe millions of Millennials on Africa business to do that are listening. We take note of that at we manage and deal with the the traction that confront us on a daily basis and of course take advantage of the opportunities that we have. Okay not let's look at the current landscape in terms of the pandemic the coronavirus covid-19, then the global pandemic and the fact that it has affected the business landscape the global economy also been affected and note that what lesson have you learned from this song. In terms of business and also as a person well, I'm sure even the most extreme Republican would have realized that The word now is a global community. And at what we take decisions we need to reflect on the fact that this decision can come back to us because the Ripple effects of whatever we do and move so rapidly and off without food or what what we we are showing for the one because now whoever takes decision around the globe taking decision on behalf of the one because now we are now global family that we can see the impact of what has happened in China started off kind of hand in a couple of weeks and it's already in the US and before, you know, it's by February much we have it in Africa almost dead. After everybody and and I look at what happened to the aviation industry is global. So so so please say Thursday, I believe the bill some good lesson for all of us to know that the the one belongs to all of us whether it is global warming climate change. All of this sustainability issues must be very seriously because there is no Highland now, it's not until possible to Century where you can have faith and that itself sufficient or otherwise hm. All right. Thank you for that, sir. All right. So let's get personal little bit who are your role models as a business page? And also as a person who are your role models well, let me say that to be honest in terms of role model. I would say the person that I copy you must every day off by there today activities here is my first row more than and and that's my profession. I say because everything that I do this is no other choice and that I copy on a day-to-day basis like like like like him and my mother has been a very strong Army. She was an interpreter in in in our own world very hard-working, but she took me hard work. I say young very young child. I helped out in a little business. Sometimes I'm very highly to do that goes towards before going to Indian School in the morning. So that is basic Foundation. That's all she had Walt is what defines you as as a person and that it will not kill you, but Rabbi to mould you very tough. May I be of assistant human being out in terms of Because you know when you get when you are young is what defines many of what you happen to be in life. Thereafter I think I'm I was very lucky to have worked with various colleagues both those I go through those other down and PS and also those even those who wear the question to who have very dedicated honest and have this off this mentality of solving the business working very hard to improve whatever position did they find and and focus off the customer those a very many that I cannot put all their names here. Some of my boss old models that I have been lucky over the last Thirty thirty-five years that I have been working out of town. Family fantastic. What would you like to be remembered for? Well, you see one of the reasons that I left. Conventional banking to as fifteen and a half years ago up to join the Giants project is to ensure that we create life issues that will deliver Financial inclusion because as you are aware the many people who like to bank that wage. Yeah, I doubt biking half-heartedly overload even banking at all. So they were not accessing Financial Services. And some of them for the first time I about to get them to join and off open account with the value, but the most of the section of this clientele that we have that are very long and proud to associate with two 225. You near are the women in The Villages that were able to put into place what we call Financial inclusion price. This is why women who never had anything to do with the bank in the rural areas that we suggested to alert a program where we'll give them equal to, you know, traditionally banking is bring open account page. The bank and use the as raw material. So we said let's change the narrative and you open an account will give you if which one do you have this place? I will share of the profit or loss that became investors in their businesses. Exactly. So we artistic and believing and trusting in them and this system because also we are doing if we have to be meeting with them on a monthly basis so office as they come by themselves to say this is what we did over the last one was this has been the profit we made this is Rochelle and this is what we can offer to say so now start to help a savings account for them so crazy several culture. And for the first time they got to know what an insurance so we also cover them put insurance cover as basic races that they are exposed and very soon if we offer and complete this round of financing will put also has Insurance on top of the so we intend to layer where you are services that are going to improve Tentatively will bring them into the economy properly and also help them to take care of their families, especially their own one. So they they do break the cycle. Where were these parents are not able to check that system to store and maintain them in in school. So if This Japanese and other Banks carry this project. And we have 30,000 now. We are working with new. We hope in the next three years. We have like two hundred fifty thousand working if we can get these and maintaining our groceries and add that balance and other individuals and and ncos Carry On on this page and then there will be a hazard plan was part of the team that set up this that would be a payback for me personally. I think it's an inspiring story. I may see. Okay. Now let's go back a little bit. Tell us the journey and I took you to where you are right. Now, you mean as long as your personal stuff, you know that took you to where you are in terms of being an executive at guys bank right now your career Journey so far off. By October, that's next month. Yes. I will be home. Well, I was born and bred in katsina state the other Emirates just you can be my local government is called holiday is one of the the most remote has two and a half meters today, And so wow. How's that the downloads have any maybe there was one to the fact that I go to any way I could get in the village. But you know and this is what one very sad thing that has happened in this country then education or even the village network was quite strong. We're able to compete in the world. We left grammar is good to join a secondary school by 1975 birth. Is the GSS Dora and Dora, I was transferred to the commercial colors in the area and tell you off and before going to commercial for less than what I thought of doing was to finish my secondary school and then go and teach in primary school was my world much as I could dream exactly because and this reflects something because the chitchat been in the Village Voice next to the Village head. It was it was it was he was such an important personality because it's paid was probably a little better than that or the blade head. If you're able to get the best house you live in the best environment the best quote he can buy everything off. so so you the impression is if your every single day is given to by the child, I progress my education in secondary school and then realize that there are other things that one can do the site features and that's the education and just designed and, from this modest humble background in the village in my secondary school. I can talk about these things and all then it's not about I'm saying this all sense of loss suggest to describe how things have changed the same type of child from the same place has more chance to drop that off this type of the children that we were in the same class, please Because at that time even if you have this one of your minister or send off a Cornell or or Jenna will still go to that the same school exactly Europe shoulders with home. We said the channel from the forest family and you can pitch you because he does not have two structures as you probably didn't have pocket money to go out and spend money. Hm. So by the time I finished the countries who already knew that I have changed my home Verizon and I went to the university and because of my commercial college background I decided to make account and off again to show how a village I can come to University then as you been to University by age nineteen eighty-five I passed with the first class. Wow A lotta off. So so you can you see how things have changed imagine the same chance of that local infinite knowledge today off with the same tragic. It's almost an impossibility and two years after my my 1987. I already have done by a qualified as a chartered accountant in the last three years after my graduation as somebody coming from cuz the last eight thousand people. So that my academic journey and I started and and you can also see I was disappointed when I was just posted mm cuz I wanted to go to ogun state or River State. Why should I support well consider yourself? But as long I start with chilies so that gave me the impression that in fact my head of Department of accounting said come back and teach and I was passing by the time I started my NYC missed two nights. I realized that as an account and you cannot be complete account and pick you have not found I can so yes, so that change my my my life from becoming and academician to come in and practical accountant so dead. I saw an advertisement and you see how things were in nineteen eighty-five nineteen eighty-six. I saw an advertisement from Legos manufacturing company and I applied wage and they called me for the internet. But even then the postal system was selected. So I did not receive the invitation until about two weeks after the interview. Then I called the company. I just received the invitation. They said, and I went to Lake was by myself today sign even after his birth. You can send him from the average Levels by yourself. You will not cope. But I I I took a cough and so, to to to labels and I did the interview and give me your and suddenly I was in labor was working for the first time daily labors for the first time and I started working my working career high Legos 1986. So as soon as I qualified, I went to when I compose the exam auditing firm to do my attitudes in kaduna after my articles wage in kaduna. I joined L&D see your natural development company is is a regional development company acting to drop off and buy that's 3 years. I was a financial controller and off after that I said, okay. I have an account and unless you want to become empty. This is your bar. So I went to learn myself in Lagos home and starting as they are electric controller. I became the treasurer and then group head of financial advisory services. That is up. The 2001 and from there. I went to clean bank or Inland Bank and they went back to 9 again, and finally left and in 2005 and in 2005 to join Giants projects wage and then slowly came with. To get a license in 2005, which is not get a licence until 2012. So you are working on a project try going from Pillar To Post with your for additional Capital because if you recall Saluda came and change the space of biking in Nigeria and increase that requirement from what we had then which was two billion naira or equivalent of Itachi million dollars to $200. It was equivalent about 20-25 off. A million to two hundred plus million dollars and that became almost an impossibility when you go to to get rid of that scene in 2012 and 2011 contacted the bank and in 2012. So between 2012 to home today, I have some as the general manager in charge of investment from 2012 to 2013. I actually got empty for my six months and begin my TV. I mean, I was promoted to e d m d in twenty thirty years and then by 2016 5G is attempted MD of the bank. That is for Thursday. The commencement of the valve I became the subject MD and have for years now. I'm Mumbai job. I am personally inspired by your story looking at where you come from and where you are today. I think every young age children need to be able to hear this that we understand how much our country has changed and where we had today and what we should be focusing on let me parles Trigo Torres Jung MD young CEO and entrepreneurs out there who are listening right. Now. What I advise are you going to give them you have occupied leadership position across and business unit and even within the financial services industry, so you've seen it or what advice are you going to give to a young CEO or young entrepreneurs has placed in right now dead? Well for me, it is significant for people in authority to be able to tend themselves because our AC power corrupts and absolute power corrupts. Absolutely. As well if you are in position or authority you should be able to tell me how fast personal desires because they attend Temptations 8441 to want to grab by oneself. That's very critical because if you follow the desire and you know be able to focus And you know, if you're able to see think rightly and correctly you not be able to take good decisions and in hand in positions of authority decision-making is very critical because if you take decision with tainted my or without focusing on the reality of the issues that is possibility of a huge with them being taken in the process, of course down institutions put controls around cos and but like I said, once you are in question of authority depending on your inclinations off and yet inability to change yourself to be influenced even those controls and that can be very tragic. Secondly, I think that one has to be humble and off and be able to carry his colleagues because it is it is like a chain and get that change cannot move in unison if the weakest link is not taking care of them have to you have to be able to have empathy and and and know that people have different differences, and they also have different abilities. Thank you. Once you balance this you should be able to cost alone and get your goals. Thank you very much. My son has been very much inspiring starting to your personally this evening and in last word many find a note from you. When this pandemic and the difficulties that Nigeria is Basis is a challenge great challenge, but it's also an opportunity for all of us to walk as much and together. You know that the current level of productivity cannot stand these nature and that application for the other hand has great potential which we can we can definitely a leash this quotations for the benefit package. The Next Generation because we owe them this responsibility to request a nation that is on the soundtrack to be recognized as a world leader in the face of Nature's. Thank you very much, sir. Episode 13_Nithya Balasubramanian

"This is not an ordinary business podcast but this show is with ordinary people who are making an extraordinary efforts the working moms who are the hub hopper originals hello friends welcome to the podcast executed mom stories you find success who has been usual model in this journey so far north different people over the course of she has rich corporate experience of over twenty years in healthcare industry and has also worked with Mckinsey where she managed multiple portfolios in unbelievably struggling to have a thirty five years old mother of two kids media is vice-president respiratory marketing at Sablan. Do you know do stuff that not many people have done before so I had the opportunity to set the benchmarks with like I was doing in other people's footsteps hundred marks or whatever that was at school and then and then then and then I moved onto again corporate life it was again excellent I think it started I think I'd have to go back to my childhood thing I come from and working with that uncertainty but setting new benchmarks my folks and being the best of it I did that's how I just one person Okay and how a woman executive can identify such mentors it's not easy for the last thirty years I don't think I can mean just one person I think I've had a lot of great mentors over the years not being the best at whatever being the best at what they did so I think that that kind of define the how I define success for me to have you on this podcast today before we get started our hottest congratulations for making it to the economic times forty and forty so how was it explained it was a bit of it in Boston Syndrome if you kind of look at the people on the rest of the thirty nine people on the list people who have no I think I was just reading something earlier today which which gained just lakes how actually felt to actually be on the list who who actually inspired me to be better do better and be the best whatever I do so honestly icon of expectations that gum expectations and be conceived notions of how you should be is a needle and and because of all that you tend to be so I think initially initially when I was growing up my dad was great mental she was my mom I do so even then I moved onto corporate life it was all about trying to push the boundaries it was only reason about you know setting new benchmarks then I don't WanNa see I've had the opportunity walk and I think one one Quirky thing I do I do mentioned is I have found tendency for women NBA from Bangalore and be on notes from Bits Baloney high tail welcome to the podcast executive mom stories we are so so excited joining empty strategy season marketing for the Pharma Industry She was recently chosen for the forty under forty leaders by economic times should fantastic mentors at McKinsey as they're less leader at Cipla I've been fortunate enough to actually also have a lot of them and we do that I'm over linked to mentor other young talent so if you have somebody like that in your organization you should definitely make an attempt to give it up a mental taking I think especially for women I think the most difficult thing is being biliteral right especially because you two women that are Ah Bitch lost than not and I think that's what it's about taking the first step and being bought another bullish opening opening yourself starting from base to me I always had to be the best toward I chose to do when I was a child it was about getting with inspiration from their determination than the we approached everything that beat it great role models for me I think growing up I had as well and in my own personal experience I've found that men who have daughters to be fantastic mentors it's not Ah do other people that you admire and who you feel inspired you and I think some at some point of time you just need to come out and say it developing developing mental mental mental relationships and and it's and also say that it's extremely important to have been doors as they let sponsors wherever so being on the four hundred forty of a tested expedients I think I'm delighted to be on the list and that you know you're somebody who inspires me I would love for you to be a mentor I would be really really surprised somebody came back and said no because that has never been expedient and men who have other work men men who have working women it's it's actually men who has doctors who what she fond more open and they pushed the boundaries achieved achieved large so I think the that the feeling is and it's really great to be part of it how do you sit your standards you should strive for not on everyday visas because simply impossible but it's something that maybe you can sty photo with a week maybe you get coming off and you need to put an extra hours today then make it happen because whatever that you commit to do is is that something that you that you own and boots I don't think it's so specific to the mind the story I think I think one of the biggest mistakes so I possibly dedobbeleer and learn from is is how to achieve the work life balance right I think I've seen a lot of them in in my dean something that you strike photo what a month and do each their own but do expect that you would be do walk only certain hours a day or so I think be bonded open up yourself and you'll see right up front that you actually want them to be your mental and that's how we start did that I think as a as a working mother who I have two kids my son is eight and my daughter's four I and especially world thank you thank you for having me on your fault I edited it's really up to shape you reaching out as well doing dip that did as you know that it's a nine to five and I defy means they're walk like that but unfortunate in to find other women than does break if you have if you have other mental with it's fantastic But I would say giant find men who are mentors Lord I would advise working moms to norges in the pharmacy tickle industry but elsewhere as well is not try and define work life balance for you it was more mental I think it was obviously all in my head and what I needed to do with justice support system I had and meant Gomez relationship begin pharmaceutical industry we would like to know from you what a common mistakes working on make while taking care of themselves let's go I mean as long as there is adult supervision and they're getting the right care and the getting this stuff done on Diet Oh so there is definitely no one on your lights and it's definitely not mine vice what has been your biggest challenge as a working mom and how did you deal is to know why having the second versus when you just had one kid but I would say all the people out there who possibly have on you should just giving up your priority having only the more important stuff because we just don't have to die and actually it's come come from a family family's diamond chambi wears getting the first thing was fishy to I think starting some would you would not work lecture on weekend and and that is how you achieve achieve work life balance is is it doesn't matter whether it happens at nine tonight or auditing every time in the afternoon do I think it was sadly C walk what do at workers all shorts they can pick and come into your meat so I would say that achieving work life balance is something that Ashley wanted to make sure that everything is perfect and when you have the second one you know that you don't have the time I saw you basically give up and you're far more would be as a mother had dealing handling two children than than when I've definitely noticed a difference that I'm much more happier now that I think that is there's a race be always a little bit of guilt that you know what it out and when they come back home you know you're acidly just making them stay awake little extra fifteen minutes in the night to finish their homework because you're coming back home late in the night and a lot of the he's more small things just add up and start being down on new and I think I have been really lucky in that my in laws actually but I think my husband is obviously he's very involved depending on how involved I want him to be so I think Laura the second one than that I was I was just handing my son I think because you just don't have that that I between managing to kits versus one kid you know one of my worst foreign question because you talk that you know you have two kids so what is the difference that you have and be the manager and rivers more than happy to take everything delegates that so the thinking goes rather they should have to second I would say please go ahead because it it honestly just releases its I mean totally let go I think that has definitely helped me be more be still at work as well as I come back home I defense he was he rolls off has been changing at home I think so I still I'm the default parented schools the liver does just being a fantastic support from in terms of taking care of the kids and I think what I needed to do with it things we split up for example in my son's cricket cricket coaching reviewing steps in and then he's the one hanging out with my son and making sure that he has fun to disclose yeah honestly doesn't mean difficult for me because this has been the default ever since they doctored the view understanding things that aren't been so they haven't how to make your kids understand that you're working professional and will not be around them twenty four by seven like taking it up they actually handle it very easily and and I assume it's because this is the only they know where and the I think it probably makes them far more independent than they would have been so defer so me and my husband would official and soon Savak for work not very often but sometimes we do travel but I think both kids have speaking out cleanly counter-intuitive but just released a lot of fashion Justin I think when you have just one your you know over solving teams your beer you just take everything so I've been working and I think you face some challenges once in a while but everything has a real sorting auditor that I think I was concerned it's not something that I have seen walkout successfully so like like I said before I think the world you need to do to get out if if that is a deadly they keep keep going out to you and I think you just need to give it give it the right time seat that I support and fan having the second one afflicted run you just giving up in your auto diving only the most important stuff because you just don't have the guy and title spill figured if my growing Sun but then it was easier for me when I went back to work with my second one so I think that there will be challenges mom and dad both walk as a working mom what concerns you the most and how do you deal with it ever since I ever since I graduated brand at workplace and how do you feel it as different from her medically oh I think one of the biggest mistakes that women I took my time it took me and other even after the maternity leave it took me another four or five months to figure out how to get back to walk how to become it'd work is less sticky so far what happens at home and like I said they haven't seen anything as do competitive so this is this is the way that they know school but I'm sure that's something I figured it out and I'm moving on I left to deal with the teenage hormone issues but unfairly against that you've made a commitment to it so it's important that deliver on that commitment as well suspect than maybe the next to you do is not asking I think men do that really really well I've seen a lot of my medically be Fahd more open of and I went back to work after my son too but I took a bit of time so I had to fix maternity leave and I did a bit of a making the offer of flexible walking stylus those it's it's it's unbelievably stressful to have taking what with with appearance working how an offscreen forward opportunity or raising their hand at the right time for the right opportunity investment than to do that less so I would say that coming and ask for what they want and I think in in terms of building building a and I think government early or Sunni eighteen any other scenario for then in our dismal mom goes to all that goes to work border stan busy and have things to do outside shortage we'll be able to sort out and I'm sure right now I'm I'm moving onto the stage red kids now get a lot of homework and projects that need to be sent back to asking for what you warned is very very important because I mean obviously if you do not get to never happening say let's say people North Korea as somebody who somebody who can contribute to a radius contribute radius different topics and not necessarily woodhams steady forums marketing forums or let me give you a platform which is much larger than your immediate day job and the function that I'm that I'm that bottles then it's easier for you to land right opportunities that so I would say we'll go out there something as I think you would there'll be like I mentioned before we have lost a tool to have been agreed support I die the other vitamin which I may be looking for opportunities and building depression I would say go out there shady one bid perspectives beyond your immediate that keeps coming in the new book solving it I think it's a bit of both I do have a to do list people don't voluntary thing to solve for yourself you need to take care of yourself so I think it's very important that the men be Fahd more able to be identified as somebody who can step into the next rule I if you already have grand if you're known known Ford logical for marketing still show but I think a war to the mentioned also do eas- Easter Diane have a much larger perspective to step out of their comfort zone I think a lot of leaders are fantastic and what they do right here I've seen them into ahead of ID just fantastic at ID. They drew function or to mean to job and shed those thoughts in perspective I put it out there it out there for people to see and read and talk about how neither have I heard of the hotels there so I think a moist Velle meaning leaders want to mentor young talent initiative lettuce and I also have a to do list for things that need to happen at home so I I would put everything on the calendar making sure that you have not just a toll but also building participated woke people who call experience and mentors picks out on twitter and there are a lot of these industry for them so I for example I speak a lot of these for my industry then to put them on the calendar I make sure that it's on my husband's calendar says because if I'm not able to show up and he does become affecting any gone sit in bed we'll figure out a way of handling everything so I I strongly believe that God is into anything at you content how would execute can establish her own that Forty Wilkie moms out there it's not difficult there are so many people around you with been there done that and I've been success some of the ways you can definitely improve you'll Bush plan and I think it's also extremely important to build your own personal grand in order to be few paying debts and Wendy come so I do have a to do list but I won't see that I stick to it very diligently a little flexible about the the show I'm also a big sexy okay your message for the working MOMS I would say that get into work I have a list of things that I want to accomplish that the but it also happens all based firefighting ruling on the that is likely to crop up and you do need to address buddies you need to my daughter has she gets she I think she's more social being has like five six but nobody's every month balance for yourself there's no-one said formula have a wonderful time and stay tuned to the executive mom stories we would love to hear Oh you do handle whatever it is you handling at that moment it's not difficult so go for it it was wonderful interacting with unity or thank you thank you sir perspex perspectives as well so of course twitter I've seen a lot of people who go out there and shed their toilets and perspectives on video pitch.

"<music> hub hopper originals hello friends who welcome to the podcast executive mom stories. This is not an ordinary business podcast but this show is with ordinary people who are making an extraordinary efforts the working moms who are juggling linked to keep a balance at work and home today on executed mom stories syrupy more decided that i gave my along custom to take very challenging room because i could i would i had the second that they go for near and it took a very challenging goal and he got a promotion in bidding bet that is an achievement for me right after his promotion. I decided that i'll go back the rock and now he's soupy is mother of seven years starter and two years boy. She's having fifteen years corporate expedience and has worked with companies like accenture theseus anorak. She holds bachelor tonight from cochin university of science and technology and nick present. She's working with accenture as education development manager. Hi sir be welcome to podcast execute imam stories so how's it going pica rivera much going good. Thank you so ben gets us small sobe. You know worry a lot about them name. So what are your worries my body why why being walking mom my most everybody league whether i'll be able to justice do justice both my personal life as well as naval clay so what balances go you know all with every point heke so after having raised one kid ah what defense did you feel during second pregnancy and the time after that oh during the second second lindsey i knew or maybe the challenges and nyquist prepare myself better <hes> address those challenges that was i mean difference in the folks. Get it was all surprises and what about the time mhm software that you know when you raising the child all the you know the walk lord of at home as well as at office it it does not get just the second child. It actually becomes four times okay because you have only four helping hand including your spouse but you have two kids to handle and to work life you know they eventually the you know the workload gets folding it gets increased by four days okay so it was it anytime time you know when you feel that being a mother and working professional are just pulling universidade action and how did you deal with that but my second child as well as my four uh shea it was they were <hes> you know multiple occasions where i felt that two things are going in opposite directions and i had to actually followed in one of those were either work life or the person they <hes>. I took voice on clay even admit foreskin second kid. I took a break aww around three months with the kids and with the second kid it was actually seven bunch. I gave complete attention. My kid luitingh ran. I took a break from my work doc and now i'm back to my work even because my second is also a one and a half years and i have a fully chipboard for my <hes> have been men my family members and now i'm able to be tension to my work life also so that break really gave me a section in the sense that i i really spend good time that my kid when he needed me most and now iran he the vet he grew up he now. I'm able to go back to work and we'll be sweet okay. I don't see that you know he is <hes> he <hes>. I didn't spend enough time that the that really gonna decide you know spending sometimes both nike and now going back to the workers and the was it difficult to get back to work. You know after taking such a long break. Oh it's always always difficult in this life. L. silently might do yours in my cadillac has taken a hit that is said one point which i friend but i always wasted myself that as of women be only this all question do do feed a different list of life. We don't see that happening. Fathers but mothers yeah began weekend be just mother at some point in time in your life not just not of being a taking a break from the work and then when we go back and close your cadre. Have you ever go back. Maybe fly by one year or two years but you have us and stuff accomplishments that to you a mother of two and barely could you know the trophies of they've actually been feeling but definitely the same stuff accomplishment in your personal. Life takes over the beadle basically value augier carrier just for a moment so you have worked with multinational company. So how do you see rolls off our nation in making work enjoyable for working moms uh-huh and particularly during the pregnancy fees okay if my work for a company accenture where of there are several programs to support folklife sending mothers in fact i myself as a coach in program called turning us read as a coach. We help returning moms. I don't understand the company policies which are favorable for them when they come back from there <hes> bake all modernity first the thing league no involvement they say six months not immediately but exchange it relates seven months and after the seven months yet also entered do seek three months kind of the teams leave bedell davies begun just see that they have to look after their kids three months they can take a break and full that better the six months leave which is our family louis okay and even after this on one and a half years break when they come back to work we have a policy that <hes> they will be part of the project in which they were before they cannot be from that role and they they're saying seven months of break in <hes> <hes> madman believe it is considered as their walk expedience and even at era and the pleasures we have a very sick guidelines that david b or they there should not be impact on their appraisal or of the overall use reading so that's been really blessed to work with a company like accenture and a box on this as a coach in that are done in mother we really shed expedience with those of the dunning mother's first time or second time and be guide them how they can work at lake. What are the best ways to you. Know do will be <hes> and crazy into from home or <hes> you know fifty bucks they can spend in office but in many times they can be at home and you also have a spacious rooms <hes> <hes> for nursing mothers if they've on began their baby there or they stay on to have <hes> panova mid stored in the fridge. We have on these <hes> of evelyn. Almost all the facilities exchanger is being really good job in beef the gods okay so as a working mom a one gives issue with the most satisfaction as a working mom i can support my family in financially has i have confidence and and i could see in my of spatially the milder one who is a goce she she can see though of maybe she inherited the coincidence inch for working mom. I and you know that's my hope and leave out of that. So <hes> you have raised you know at or have been creasing of a boy and a girl. So what does the defense that you have failed in raising booth. Which is the differences of my goal. Shy was what's baby comedy team. She on me allowed me to work a riley. You know i tried to log in from home most of my time and she was always nice leak. She could allow me to work long hours of us meetings but boy he does not get me really have to knock myself in headroom and <hes> you know make sure that he's not entering their too because he was just down on my laptop. Take my earphones headphones every young yeah. That's a basic difference that i found them so <hes> you and your husband both talk working so what type of support system you have to look to that kids get proper time mention. The supports would say that to you know overnight took over a decided that i will take every i increased my <hes> husband. I've been to take a very challenging role because i could <hes> you know i was. I had decided that they will be one year and he took a a very challenging and he got a promotion and bidden bet ear. That is an achievement for me right after his promotion. I decided that i'll go back to the work and and now he's fully supportive so you know most of the time when i am a if i'm traveling over down he is very much with my kids you know so he is fling might go back to work so that's how they reach other so with the independence around how do you see freedom for women woman and particularly for working mums <hes> then in this country. I would say that we are still noted there. There are a lot of independence indi- which i don t woman the especially they're working on. They have been debt workplace all back at home but i will definitely say this all the government to be just authentic than you know. Just be what you are and forget about it. Gross whether it's family or you know we'll leaks and try to order stanford independence so what does surpise mantra to balance hulk and personal life okay my i anti is being myself and always <hes> book when you're at work tied to do justice dead head and when you come back to your home tighter focus on kids sit other than always worrying about their work so you know they'll be yourself and do justice in both what ended and one thing we try to find out some time just for yourself because that's very important if you don't undo that he will be released out so it would be stress yourself find out something at least once a week. You know couple of hours. Dude do things just for yourself and then you feel that you know now. I should go back to my family members and my you know the other day so finding time for yourself is important the bottom that's the kind of healing one be stretching and he saw romney talk about support system so if you can tell me. Have you tried different types of support system. Maybe you know having a fulltime made or part time. So what does that has worked for you or maybe if you can share <hes> certain advantages and disadvantages contagious affiliates support systems okay what works for me is <hes> you know the domestic him and or so a caretaker for kids although i had a regular support for my family members votes from my inbox satan for my mom safe hollywood. I feel that way they from um and stay with me. I made sure that i have a ninety who can take it off my kids because my paid until you know growing old. I expect that they would be running on my kids so if i have a caretaker what they think is no that that's not what i what i as like. That's not a my gut of salary you know and beyond really helping me to build my career and also take care of taking care of my kids to my the all the grownups and family those who came and stayed with me they had nice. I stayed in a while. They just have to spend time with your granddaughter and grandson so that when i come back and see that they are happy they evade not <hes> you know it. Will it works for me on longer beaded other other michael leaks where even the parents they just leave. He's because they're too much stressed out or the kids or onto non happy because usually been signed that kids lord with somebody who is younger who can play the denver done announcer underground they do you expect all that from parents. <hes> when migrants or you know the generation gap so to fill fill that gap i think the domestic and get bigger for kids. Who are it off for. You know maybe age younger than us. They have energy to on with the kids that has really book although it took a hit on my financial part but i don't have the goodson that if they're taking care of my kids i can even divide them more than what what they ask for. They should just going to do that. It just interim thing. Maybe just a couple of years. Once you start going to school full time school you may not need but so you need show shows five years it it always has to outsource these work that you can do your work workplace saly so <hes> having tickets you know has it helped the first one in in any we <hes> the first one definitely initially yes because when she used to be back home after her eating page i am and if i'm working she used to be alone big al the calls also one hour and either she will watch t._v. or she will play with the toys and i used to feel guilty about it so she's the only chinese and that i thought of having second kid who can give a coffee. You can use thing baking or if you have if you're left with. Only maybe kids or you know somebody from emma above generation. You not like it for a very long time. You need somebody from ulan generation so i i have two siblings and i have a very going to get a continuing support from them. I thought they might auto deserve somebody. Make as being who can we're gonna be with her and i told them i see them playing and working in another i could hear them laughing jeering and you know talking to each other so it really helps me it. I understand that they are not. She's not alone so having the second kid has a lot of happiness in my family even my initially my husband wasn't supportive of fro no having no second chances but actually my daughter convinced him uh-huh they'll be <hes> your tips to manage <hes> your work on your <hes> both my life yes so you know i if i understood your question. You're asking for the tips which keep pandy yes oh by leading with with my blessing knife and walk life right. Yes the to the texas league. You know create a gordon vitamin dot com so that we you know your kids they they they are brought up in a good environment and even if i have some push it at work. I don't try to bring it home or no. Show that them or you know just because i am that doesn't mean that i can find an excuse loan spend time with them. Even if i have to compromise on my feet i'm okay so i i usually what works for me that i steve because after work late night and then morning will get to make my daughter ready for the school compromised i always plan meetings right when she will go to bed and the end of nozoe elbow so i work on my dining or even and the i always make sure that for my kids that is looked at the caretaker at home and regularly call my parents to come. I'm home and visit them so so that they have because that's the time and they will. They will find. I mean no they. They'd be able to connect with my grants over there. "The hopper originals. Hello friends who welcome to the podcast executive mom stories. This is not an ordinary business podcast but this show is with ordinary people who are making an extraordinary efforts. The working moms who are juggling to keep a balance at walk in today on executed mom stories to Rhino. Back into time I q between and And deals lead for Because I was feeding night at I studied hard. I won't get on you know I have to give up on that and I remember there was. This guy was office boy. He came from behind standing for quite some time after that he knocked to begin with and he said what happened. You came on. I knew I think I would have to quit today. A forty three years old mother of two kids aged Ordina. Nine years. Reina is chief. Human Resources Officer of clean technologies. She has what they grow. Sectors just telecom banking and finance and. It has leadership goals with join eating suggests Dr h GMC on dock and sterlite. She has been practicing adoptive leadership in India and was invited by evolving corporate universities Fordham in Singapore present topic she has also been pivotal in the designing of Leadership Council for Nasscom in partnership with. Im Bangalore Hi. How are you doing? Great how're you doing in read great? It's a pleasure to have you know podcast today. So can you run us through your professional journey? So far I think back twenty years of my career. I have kind of seen a lot. When I've seen they've seen a lot I grew professionally proficient In the corporate ladder I hope grown as a model. You know young kids now with the game aged gates. I think that Jodi has been amazing. It has its own challenges ups and downs. But I think what gets going was that I wanted to leave both the rules equally and I feel very fortunate. I I would say fight today that I have been been able to do so and I'd have to you know when my first son was born and those teased McNulty was nothing in six months only three months and I have so many questions and daily Marvin my head I should work with. I was very clear that I wanted to go to oxidizing back to work. It was tough but as in when I quit asking for him Thanks kept happening that I get continuing and I always remember when my daughter was born. I used to work for Goodrich hiking boots when I took my match not break. I was a deputy general manager. I gain to walk after four months and I make my boss thing that I'm back and in the sports to that when he gave me my the motion little I was almost in tears. Vein that he's been for what I did before I went for my break. I think such people might make a long journey. Get me going in helping to achieve board the box of life. So what are the challenges you faced while keeping the career on track and raising two kids? Who are now thirteen and nine. Can you just call out specific challenges? And how did you overcome that? I didn't look at society at large. Or whatever we call it but expectation is always that kisses the first response responsibility of the model and many times. What happens is that You have to be managing every part of their Columbia exercise whatever they expect from didn't act work also. I was kind of growing in my own career and there were expectations. Not Reducing their ass when So it during the day you want human being only twenty four hours a day so if we hope equally precious some rules to play it becomes really really challenging but what I felt a kept me going is that I have all these set expectations whether it is my walk automatic the toll in place saying that. I'm doing this and what I expect from you but it could be my life partner that it could be someone at work and I'm happy to share that you as a corporate India has also evolved. If you're really clear with your expectations and you danger of the. That's what really does fall in place. I think we look shy away or be resolved if I see what will happen. I think this being really clear about expectations. Setting on both defense has me going to emit stabilisiation that of women are usually more inclined towards home and divorced list. I may walk. How do you maintain your professionalism? And how other working moms can do it. I would think difference of opinion here that I see. So is that Been started Benfield. These started believing that. Who is my priority? Work can be taken off what I can let it go. I think what we need to be very clear. In the beginning it sense manager woman professional and the person and I have an equal right in both places. I think Your psychology as a very very important through the after world which could be or any other things so I think that is the first place where we have to start from that. It is not that I'm a woman. It's not death of weakness eighty of drink. I would see as women. Your ability to be efficient. Multitasking is much higher than me. So I think that's the first place start from the seat of strength. That being as a man is a strength. I have nothing weakness moment. You do that the The perception around you the world around us starts chasing chasing. 'cause I feel it starts from you and If you know the moment you start thinking around you become a victim an leader. They're absolutely we are sure. There must have been times when you thought of giving up but I would really like to know if there were not any such time so when you thought of giving up your profession career Expedition but still made it back to the game to. How did you do that? You know I want to share a story on When my son was born young You still want to be a career. I used to live in bomb. The and my husband was travelling frequently to us and After that even for six months and it's all really lonely with my thoughts and Of course he has. My mom was already to family. My Mom and dad was coming and I had to find my way Endo I went back. I did for fifteen days. Of course I had my discussions and manageability said you can kind of stick in between Freak you can go after five hours because okay and all that so. He helped me at that point in time but even GM started feeling guilty. That I need to one hundred. Listen to work as so I started looking for health. Someone you did a crash near by wouldn't be the giants and all that stuff. It didn't work out so I I did. And then again. I call my billions and experts. He W noon was ready to come. I remember no. I came to office one day. I was thinking of computer gives me back and guitarist and I had a small cubicles and I look in the computer and deal sled falling way I Because I've free night. I studied so hard I won't it to own? Is it that now. I have to give up and all that and I look. It was disguised as office. Boy He keeps from behind any of offending for quite some time after that. He walked through the Glen. Then I look and he said what happens on. I said No. I think I would have to quit today. And he said why you worked. Wait I said you. I just didn't to be playing. I have no one to take care of it. He said what does it do you have. I think he'd have and you know I think that conversation with him. He wasn't you just leaving for help you can. You're just leaving for because you don't have anyone to help you isn't the critical issue will be able to find is go out for you. I knew someone who is a nanny and everything that you would hope. I think that changed for me because I felt that you know someone. We don't ask me. Someone was much hotter like the knee couldn't has resilience and you can give it back and then I found out someone who would manage my boy for the wine during the David. Avi Antic's mood on suicide right. I think one of the point that you have reached the importance of connecting with people sharing a problem because sometimes we keep it to ourselves so closely that we don't believe that others will be able to provide solutions. And I think here you're able to share it with that Office boy are writing. That has really helped out absolutely absolutely spent. I figured out the solution to this. How do you play the role from pile between your two kids as they must be bringing lord of situations to you? I think the hell first of all I think really working mom. You have to be highly highly organized. Because you have less time and you have too many things so I stopped my early because I really clear that. By eight o'clock my mouth out and so my morning. Thank deputy important so everyone goes by himself. You know when I got on the The doctor work so I each office generally by thirty eight fourteen. I get a quick jain before everyone walks into the thing so I'm just curious to understand. How early do you mind telling you the time I reach offers valid only fourteen all right by ten? I did all my stuff. Which would have made me stay back long. And I automated mighty and ideally Buckeyes it into the important dodging all. So I'll buy ten million walks into the office. No you know the regular Volkstaat and I do I ensure that I finish everything which is very gent on very important before six and after six I have stayed back if there is something which cannot be able to next so by back six to six forty five or six forty as a buffer. Jackie for myself so that you WANNA teach baffled by seventy again seventy nine footy is a time which I completely dedicate to that. We have in the House that we have to have enough together so my son comes from football. My girls at home at that point in time we have the early around eighty together. I hear good extorting something school which I do things and you know. I beat the dental nine thirty to completely go off to bed and after nine put took then I just go for a walk and I come back by ten so that is how I manage the both box of the what my world and I think I haven't changed any I haven't faced any for so many years I am able to deliver equally on both sides of into context of war. We talk a lot about culture. How do you see it? And how do you think weekend said the right culture for optimal results? I think the focus has been on the outcomes and not on the activities or tying spanked unfortunately if you look in India that Many times Ah spending too much dying on video listings and which doesn't help us to be efficient and a working woman can not effort to be not to be efficient so I think by setting expectations that I could our managers with our team members and even stay cooler really had to be I will say on the track and doesn't deal you and again we like going back to my first point. It all starts with setting right expectations now. The question is why should sound. Listen to your expectations. I think if you are up to fashion who has a track called delivering people will listen dealing expect. And that's what I have experienced throughout my career accepting for wondered cases. I never faced a charge because they were very clear that end of the day. Things will not fall between the cracks. And she will do. How do you take time out for yourself? I think We tend to the time where Jerry time for myself because sometimes from Monday to Friday. 'cause Donna Sixty five. I have become a machine of which is a kind of a shocked by the clock in the weekends. Of course I get a little late And in the morning when my school for different glasses I have time for myself. I make a cup of Coffee. I sit down I read. I have no one to talk me and in the evening also announced say six to eight and they are not around have become big things. I'd be myself that I feed or I go for that. So that is how I make time for my favorite show ready field with this that these are the slots on the weekends. We are not supposed to describe. So what's the kind of support system you have created around your service? I think he will fight. Mickley a very important role explicit expectation setting within that I will be but there will be. Sometimes I think you have to manage For example if during the weekdays there's a board something which is really important and I knocked at home. I clearly managed we managed in between do he has to be on dying back home so that is one part of it. You how also you know someone who is a hating my kids there who walk. She's a after injury chic with John. She feels very I would say anthony stick with me and she sees me. That is the Fox. She had extent than to it. So I think with these things My sense I tried to fill in by someone who can be equally or I will say near to me for them those points in time but then I am around. I Make Radi clear mice. Thanks I don't want to zoom myself with I will say non quality things and I see more on quality. What does that mean painting making up? No I won't talk about the stations with my kids. I want to check with him. The moment you do that automatically you will see that you'll be asked because as humid. Sometimes you have a challenge that you weren't everything from improper but then you have balancing between the two votes. You have to let go some back and you get an integral non-qualified security you can make those things which doesn't have a major impact on your just media hygiene an expedition facto. Who's your role models at all? I had to very early on my career My Mental Angelina. She's not related to me. But does she says she was advice. Dan and I had actually banned up low complexity bank and I remember as an endorsement. I had a chat because I had told her that I've watched too. I didn't end. I never want to give up my wife and I want to continue. I think of my conversations with her at that point in time really healthy as they kicked doing Michael Us They never I ethics stated or a bit strength. I will just message. I'm getting a check. I think. She's a huge huge influence on my life and I were not to fall today to. How do you would say invest the time that is left with you on Sunday nor do you read something or you know? Do you right. So how do you take care of the time that's available with you on weekends so I do two things one foresight because that's my passion I keep an eye on things which I announced we but that it has to do with politics whether it is with the break and I am writer to people matters. I have published white people so that is one of my rain. I love my team. Teams continue to be enriched and I will say heavy thinking thing I do is I meditate. Because you know when you walk twenty four by seven and you're working clock you ended up. She gets somehow this balance. I think meditation really helps. Because it helps my energy to Steve Gum and it also helps me to take all the I would say And then she sat us off. Talks things in my mind out and speak balance. I think how I spent my time than what I have to thank for myself. Booking mom what message you would like to give our listeners I think the first messaging. You're not you're wrong. Because be given in a strengthen not weaken. This is the first thing you should remember. Second don't take entire burden on your shoulders on one hand and get out of the door. Ever forget back cuts getting a child of easing. Your child is not the the unknown you. How far nothing that? Jordan decanted defiant and making your in your career journey and spell. Because he or she or he would also acceding right in your own professional achievement as you would to your journey and my last question how do you make it becoming a CHR of quickey? I think I always having read gold in person. Oh they never I would statistic affecting my Guardian. I would be clear that I'm not doing just a job. I need to ensure. Why does his job gave me my long-term cutting? And where do I go from here so I have all these in students? I invested in NYC on drools that is how in most of the places I was always high-performance I have always Skipped cheap people and it working because it has helped me to enrich my coffee sources and make my connections and putting which I have done is I on created owned Mitch. My own piece in You know I would say that H. I said. The game was back to utilize my free time. Because I write. I talk about really careful. So when you are very clear about your goal in just the Leeward I mean creating in these for my favorite place to be. It was wonderful interacting with due to do thank you so much for your time. Thanks cut it out. Hello working moms said on the right expectations and don't take all the burden yourself.
