Governor Andrew Cuomo said today there were four virus deaths in the state in the latest number. Danbury, Connecticut residents lined up today to get tested for the virus. This after health officials warn of a significant spike in covert 19 cases in the city. The spike prompted the state Department of Public Health to issue a cove in 19 alert for Danbury last night. Officials on Friday confirmed in nearly 200 new cases reported since the beginning of August, including 40 for in just the past 24 hours, seven seems to be an unlucky number lately for the subway system. We hear more on that from Bloomberg's Dinis Pellegrini. Vandalism on the seven train could soon affect service for those who rely on the line to travel between Queens and Manhattan, New York one reports. Vandals have smashed dozens of windows on several subway trains over the past few months, and the vandalism has happened so often, the empty says it has gone through its stockpile of replacement glass now. Each time this happens, the MTV has to pull the train out of service for hours to replace the windows. Plus it costs about $500 apiece and the M T. A is now facing a total of about $300,000 in damage from the vandalism. And this comes at a time when it's already struggling financially because of the pandemic. A Very Long Word

"What is the longest word in the English language? Well I think it's disputed at least if you consult youtube videos out there and people reading what is claimed to be the longest word so I don't know but I have a word for you. I'm not saying it's the longest but I'm saying it's very long or you ready. Its disestablishment ISM by my count. That's ten syllables. What is disestablishment terrorism? Well first we need to know what is establishmentarian ISM and for that. Let's go back all the way. Back to. Constantine in three hundred and their constantine not only legalized Christianity but he enacted laws that made it preferential to be a Christian and we have the beginnings of an established state church. This rolls on through the Middle Ages. By the time we get to Christmas Day. Eight hundred we see a zenith of this establishmentarian. Ism Pope Leo. The third is Crowning Charlemagne Holy Roman emperor and so through the Middle Ages. We have an established church. This was also true. The reformers we sometimes use the designation magisterial reformers. That's not to say that the reformers were grand or authoritative magisterial as a reference to the magistrate. And so whether was Calvin and Calvin S or Lutheran the Lutheran or the Anglicans or the presbyterians there was a view of an interdependence of church and state the group that was opposed to that where the Anna Baptists the during the reformation period. But it's really in the modern age that we begin to see establishmentarian as key piece of this is William Penn. The quaker in sixteen eighty one King Charles. The second deeded land to William Penn and the next year he settled his province later colony leader State of. Penn's woods and you put woods into the Latin and you have. Pennsylvania was established as a colony of religious freedom but for the most part the colonies had an established a tax supported church even after the revolutionary wars these colonies became states. We see them carry on in this establishmentarian practice in fact it's up until eighteen thirty five. That Massachusetts has a state supported. Church the Congregational Church well back. In seventeen eighty six. There was a key piece of legislation. It was entitled the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom It was written by Thomas Jefferson and promoted this idea of religious freedom. Then we go into the constitution of the United States which was written in seventeen eighty seven was enacted in seventeen eighty nine and in seventeen ninety one. The first ten amendments were ratified and famously. The First Amendment says Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press or of the right of the people peaceably to assemble and to petition the government for redress of grievances. So in those first two clauses we have what are known as the establishment clause. That is there will be no establishment of religion and the free exercise clause which is the positive side of that of promoting the freedom of religious expression we sometimes hear the expression of separation of church and state. That's actually not in. The constitution came in a letter in Eighteen. O To a letter from Thomas Jefferson. Who was president at the time to the Danbury Baptist Association and he interpreted the First Amendment as thus building the wall of separation between Church and state in many ways has been interpreted since then but it is not language that is in the constitution. But we do have is a disestablishment terrorism as the First Amendment of the bill of rights. Well there you have it along history for a long word and there are many opinions about this word. This word of many syllables. This establishmentarian.

"For more details the Danbury raid that I covered today was another of the fairly minor raids that I've covered for the spring of seventeen seventy seven because they had a significance beyond the rates themselves selves. The Dan very rate had a particular impact on two generals that have discussed a great deal in our story so far. One of those generals is is David. Wooster I've been a bit down on general wooster. In many of my past episodes. He did not seem to get along with many of his fellow officers. There's and did not seem particularly happy with the way he was being treated. Never got over the fact that after being named a Brigadier General at the formation Mation of the continental army he never got promoted to major general although he was ranked number four in the continental army at its inception he watched thirteen other men get promoted past him even though he thought he should have started the war. As a Major General I've tended to portray wooster as a bit arrogant and perhaps thought better of himself and he really was. But that's probably not hard to say about any of the generals. He also did not do much. That was particularly impressive but one could probably say the same thing about many of his fellow generals who did get promoted promoted past him. In any event it's hard to attack a guy who regardless of the politics was willing to jump on his horse and ride bravely into you battle when needed even more so when he ended up fighting bravely in battle and in doing so gave his life for his country at the end of the day. You just can't be critical of a leader who sacrificed everything and remained loyal to the end. I wish I could say the same thing about the other brigadier ear who fought that day for the Continental Army General Benedict. Arnold was also frustrated by his lack of promotions. He certainly did have an amazing amazing combat leadership record but also saw himself passed by many arguably lesser generals like Worcester Arl also jumped on his horse. I and road bravely into battle that day just like he had many times before and after even despite his complaints with his fellow officers had arnold died at Danbury like Worcester did we would've remembered arlt as one of the best combat generals of the war. His heroics on this day would result in him finally getting that promotion to major general and he would go onto perform many more heroics that were critical to the outcome of the war as he would fight in many more battles in the years ahead but Arnold did not die at Danbury or in any of the future battles he fought in he would go on to commit treason at the highest level and go down in infamy as a result I hope. That's not a spoiler for anyone. In any any event Danbury was another one of those great battle moments for General Arnold before he reached his final and very disappointing conclusion. Asian in any event. If you wanna read more about the Danbury raid. This week's book recommendation is call to arms the Patriot militia Russia. In the seventeen seventy seven British raid on Danbury Connecticut. I Stephen Darlie. This is one of the few books around that focuses just on on the Danbury raid. It's not really a narrative it's more a collection of biographies of the People Involved and short stories about the events events that surrounded the raid. Much of it is also reprinted. Primary documents such as pension applications of the men involved in the raid. If you're you're looking for some gripping read and exciting narrative this may not be the book for you. It's more a compilation of records with a little commentary. The book is relatively short at less than three hundred pages. Total and was first published in two thousand fifteen the author Steven Darlie is as an amateur historian. Who spent most of his life working in another field and took up writing in retirement? He's written two other books involving the revolution. All three involve events where benedict. Arnold was a key player. Mr Darlene is also active in several historical organizations in.

"In Danbury, Connecticut. Bob, welcome. You're on Red Eye Radio. Welcome to the show. Hi, I listen to you guys every night. Thank you. I wanna say you touched on it a little while ago. It's capitalism. The consumer is pending the market. There were they want big trucks. They want to buy big trucks. Yes. Tariffs are going to raise the price of steel. Guess what? They're still buying them. Affecting them. The market. That's what's supposed to happen. They don't want to buy a cruise. Out buying it. Shutting a factory you mean, the Chevy volt or the Chevy Cruz Chevy cruiser dropping to Chevy Cruz driving, Nicole our business. I tell you what you can have the best less gas goes up to five six dollars per gallon. The American public could care less about bridge. Plug ins. Yeah. You're right. Well, and they're willing to pay for SUV's and trucks. But here's the problem. The government adding three hundred dollars unnecessarily to the cost of any vehicle is never a good thing. That's never a positive. And what we're and what we're talking about. The the disconnect that seems to be between President Trump and the automobile companies, which are he believes that we can make the cars in the United States. That's his goal to make the cars in the United States and sell them. Elsewhere. He's making it harder. I don't believe it's going to happen to begin with. But the fact of increasing the cost of steel and aluminum and in NAFTA too. If that gets passed, which he has promoted as the best part of the new NAFTA, which would increase the cost of building a vehicle and increase the cost or parts of cars made in North America. Which is because remember North America's free trade acts and changed the Mexico United States and Canada. Yeah. It's not it's not going to happen the president. And again, I'm only this isn't me saying the president stated his goal yesterday. The goal is to make cars in the United States and sell them. Elsewhere the government increase in the cost by bother. It's a penny or whether it's ten dollars or whether it's three hundred dollars or a thousand dollars makes it less likely that that car will be built with the United States and sell sold. Elsewhere. I don't think that's the business model the car companies looking at any way, but the president is the one that is sticking to that narrative, right, right? So I'm just addressing what the president is is stating as he did again yesterday. Well, and again when you look at the the raw materials costs, it's not just vehicles. I know we're talking I know we're talking about the GM effect, but it's not just vehicles. Because what are you looking at any given household in the purchases that they're going to make a appliances and everything else again, it's completely unnecessary. The government can if the government gets out of the way and let the private sector do what it does best. We go to marry in Saint Charles, Illinois. Mary your Red Eye Radio. Welcome to the show. Thank you. Welcome back. You guys. Hope you had a good thanksgiving. Thanks. Thank you. I missed you. We own this yard here. Anyway, looking at your last statement, you know, about it depicting alive thing in vehicles that I'm sure it is. But I think at the beginning of win the tariffs were discussed the president made it a point. And I think he hopes that we're gonna just all back because China especially would love for us to all be disgruntled here. So they don't have to develop a fair trade balance data wanted we're in Kazan for what almost a trillion right now. So. That's where it's wrong. We're not into anybody and unequal trade balance. And this what the president thinks he believes it's a zero sum game. He believes that only selling the product is what makes a successful economy, not buying a product both both are necessary now man, and and the president remember they just came out last week when we're on vacation the trade deficit between China and the United States has drastically gone up. It hasn't gone down. It's gone up under President Trump. So yeah. Because they've gone up to us. You know, we're buying more. Our economy was doing greater so we're buying more. We're buying more China goods, not not not fewer or because the tariffs have gone in. We're still buying more. And they're buying less than us. But it's not changing the equation. How do we get the trade imbalance? That's not the goal again. That's that never should be the goal. And you notice the president is originally two goals. You're right is was his goal you notice. He hasn't talked about it at all in the last. Couple of months isn't mentioned the trade balance at all. Because I agree with it. Because I think the trade imbalance with China with Japan with South Korea with other places is way out of line. And. What is in line? Well, he's actually want a zero balance. No Craig care, period. So we don't know. No, no, no, no, no. You're confusing terrorists would trade balance. What is an acceptable trade balance with China? Well,.
