Wild Oak Family Farm Podcast
"Wild Oak Family Farm is a small family farm located in Coloma, California. The guiding philosophy for our farm, what we’re calling beyond organic, is based on permaculture principles and techniques. We’re going to design sustainable plant and animal systems that mimic the wild as much as possible. We started our farm in February 2018 and are podcasting to share our transition from a metropolitan life in Silicon Valley to a country life running a small farm. For the first few years we’ll be focused on establishing a permaculture food forest, vegetable garden, and livestock systems to produce all of our own food. Our plans for livestock include chickens, pigs, cattle, and hopefully a llama or donkey. You can listen to our bi-weekly podcasts and check us out on social media; the details are on our website http://www.wildoakfamilyfarm.com
"Markis, Hannah, Devonte, Abigail, Jeremiah, and Sierra Hart—six beautiful black children, ranging in age from 12 to 19—were all adopted by Sarah and Jennifer Hart, both white. On Jen’s Facebook page, it looked as if they were the perfect blended family, even earning the nickname “Hart Tribe” from friends. Then, on March 26, 2018, the family’s GMC Yukon was found belly-up on the rocks below California’s Highway 1. The news of the murder-suicide shocked their friends and made national headlines, leaving many wondering what possibly led to the fatal crash. Could these lives have been saved? Broken Harts, a new podcast from Glamour and HowStuffWorks, investigates this question with more than 30 never-before-heard interviews. Cohosts and Glamour editors Justine Harman and Elisabeth Egan and reporter Lauren Smiley follow the family’s journey from South Dakota through Minnesota, Oregon, and Washington, and finally to that 100-foot cliff in California.

Survival in Motion
"Most preppers have in mind certain, more likely disasters for which to prepare, like hurricanes along the Gulf coast, wildfires on remote parts of southern California, or hard freezes in the northern parts of the United States. Understandably, if certain disasters repeatedly appear in certain locations, a good prepper will store food, weapons and gear so that the prepper and his or her loved ones can survive the disasters most common to the area. The name “Survival In Motion” connotes change in one’s approach to surviving. The philosophy promoted on this website is that while it is advisable to prepare for the more likely or predictable disasters, the prepper should stay open and flexible to other disasters and prepare for them too. Conduct your preps “in motion,” depending on what other disasters present themselves, so that you can survive. Those other disasters range from the end of the world, to a minor set-back, and everything in between. All over the scale of severity. This entails a lot of learning and exposure to other disasters for which we need to prepare. As we say: "Learn, Adapt, Prepare, Survive"
"In the next decade, the scale and scope of environmental change will test our ingenuity and strength. The fight for a livable planet is one that we must win. Each week we will meet people who can help us navigate this dynamic world and get us on a path to health. Hosted by Jared Blumenfeld, Podship Earth is a call to action. Jared Blumenfeld was the regional administrator of the US Environmental Protection Agency from 2009-2016 (appointed by President Obama). He also served as the Director of the San Francisco Department of the Environment, chaired the first United Nations World Environment Day held in the US, and founded the Business Council on Climate Change and Green Cities California. He worked for non-profits including the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) where he helped protect millions of acres for wildlife and held corporations accountable. He thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. He is a trusted source for environmental stories and appears frequently in the New York Times, BBC, Economist, Los Angeles Times, NPR and other media outlets.
